dealdash

Among skin conditions, acne is very common. In this article you will find tips from DealDash to help combat acne, naturally.

Acne is an issue that bothers kids, teens, and adults alike. It can range from mild to severe and can end up causing a great deal of unfortunate stress on a person. The following are some ways to rid yourself of acne naturally so that you can enjoy having clear skin. Read on for some great tips from DealDash.

#1 – Reduce Stress

You should reduce the amount of stress in your life as much as possible. This alone can help reduce acne breakouts. You can exercise to reduce stress and you can also reduce stress by getting enough sleep at night. These are just two of the many ways to reduce stress. Taking a proactive approach to reducing stress will go far in helping your skin remain clear.

#2 – Practice Good Hygiene

Good hygiene is incredibly important if you want to get rid of acne naturally. You need to wash your face in the morning, after activities like working out, and at night before bed. You want to use a face wash that is tailored to your skin type and make sure not things like sleep with your make up on. Having great hygiene means that you will be as acne free as possible.

You can also make yourself different types of face masks to help with your acne. Items that you can find in your kitchen such as cucumber, oatmeal, and honey can all be used in face masks for acne. Here is a very simple way to use honey as a face mask:

  1. Rinse your face with warm water first to open up pores
  2. Next, apply honey with a tongue depressor or clean popsicle stick and leave it on the skin for 30 minutes (that’s it, just honey!)
  3. Then, rinse the honey off with warm water (not too hot)
  4. Finally, rinse again with cold water to close the pores

#3 – Watch Your Diet

Watching your diet is another thing to do to get rid of acne naturally. You should be carefully watching what you eat and avoiding processed foods as much as possible. Adding plenty of fruits and vegetables will go far in helping your skin look its very best. Cooking with hot oil and eating lots of fried foods is a common acne culprit. So be sure to go over your diet as soon as you feel that acne is an issue that you need to deal with.

DealDash Beauty: Spring Skincare Tips

DealDash

Now that the weather is warming up your skincare routine needs to change a little. Here are some Spring skincare tips from DealDash.

The weather is warm and the sun is shining, however, your skin might still be a little dull and flakey from the long winter. There are a few things that should change in your skincare routine now that it’s warmer out. Read on for more information from DealDash.

SPF, Always

I know that many people skimp on the SPF when it’s winter. They figure that they won’t be outside for long anyway, they are covered up with a scarf, etc. You should try to always wear an SPF no matter what time of the year, but it’s especially important in Spring and Summer that you are applying an SPF every single day before you leave the house. Many daytime moisturizers make this easy by including SPF in their formulas. If your moisturizer doesn’t include an SPF be sure to put at least an SPF 30 on your face every day before you go out in the Spring.

Trade in Your Heavy Moisturizer

Many people use a heavier moisturizer in the Winter. Now that it’s Spring you can trade in that heavy moisturizer for a lighter one. Most moisturizers can be used for up to a year after you open them. If you look at the bottle of moisturizer you should see a little symbol of a bottle opening and a number such as 12. This means that you can use it for 12 months after you have opened it. This makes it easy to know if you can re-use this moisturizer when Fall and Winter come around again.

Try to remember to write the date in Sharpie marker on the bottom of your bottle when you open your next one, this way you will know when it needs to be tossed. This will save you money and aggravation for next time.

Exfoliate that Winter Skin Away

Even though it’s warm and sunny now your skin might still be dry and dull from the winter. No problem! You just need to exfoliate that dead skin away. Many people like to use a face wash that has a crushed exfoliator in it, however, this is not what I would recommend. The most popular kinds of face wash with an exfoliator included either have crushed apricot pits in them. They might seem like they are great at exfoliating your face, but they are really causing tiny little micro-abrasions in your skin. A much better choice is to use a sonic face cleanser with a non-exfoliating face wash.

A sonic face cleanser is an excellent way to get rid of the dry and dull skin that Winter causes. DealDash carries sonic face cleansers and often has them up for auction. They are up for auction both singularly and also in bundle packages. If you would like to do your skin a favor and get a sonic facial brush, then click right here and check out the auctions on DealDash.

DealDash Helps: Volunteering Made Easy

DealDash

Have an urge to volunteer? Follow these easy tips from DealDash to get started.

Many people are interested in volunteering but aren’t exactly sure how to get started. Volunteering is a wonderful thing to do, it helps both your community and yourself at the same time. You always feel amazing after time spent helping others. Read on below for more information from DealDash.

Figure Out Where

Firstly, you’ll want to figure out where you want to volunteer. There are so many places right in your own community that would welcome your help. If you’re having trouble thinking of somewhere, here is a quick list of places you might want to consider:

  • An animal shelter
  • Your child’s school or PTA
  • A homeless shelter
  • A thrift/secondhand store (many benefit a cause, my local one donates to the animal shelter)
  • Your local park or nature preserve
  • A hospital

When Are You Available?

Next, you’ll want to figure out when you have time to volunteer. Can you only come sporadically or can you come weekly? Do you need a set or flexible schedule? Do you have the necessary criteria to volunteer? Some places, such as schools, will need you to have a CORI background check before you volunteer. Other places, such as the thrift store, do not have any such requirements.

After you have figured out when you have time to volunteer, see if the times you have available match up to the times at the place that you most want to volunteer. You might have to go through a few choices before you make a match.

For example, the place that I most wanted to volunteer was the NICU unit. They needed people to rock babies when the parents weren’t able to be there. Unfortunately, they required a commitment of 2 days per week for 6 months, which I just didn’t think that I could meet. Instead, I ended up volunteering at the library at my children’s school. The schedule is much more flexible and works with my lifestyle.

Sign Up, Show Up, and Feel Good

Finally, it’s time to make your choice and sign up as a volunteer. After you have made the big step in signing up, be sure that you show up at your assigned times. Trust me, after you have spent a session volunteering and helping others you will have a sunny new outlook on life. It feels good to help other people.

DealDash Beauty: Blow Dry Without Damage

DealDash

Blow drying your hair can make it shiny and beautiful, however, it can damage your hair. Here are some tips from DealDash to keep it healthy.

Blow drying your hair is almost a must for the winter time, but many people blow dry their hair in the summer as well. Unfortunately, you can end up dried out frizzy hair, or with split ends. There are a few things that you can do to lessen the damage of blow drying your hair. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Get a Good Quality Hair Dryer

You’ll want to be sure to get a hair dryer that is of good quality. You don’t want a hair dryer that doesn’t have different settings – make sure that it has both warm and hot, and if it has a cool setting, even better. If you have thick hair then you’ll want to start out on a high-heat setting. If your hair is thin or fine you’ll be better to use the warm setting instead.

Use a Heat Protectant

Most people know to use a heat protectant when they are using a flat iron, but it can also be helpful when you are blow drying your hair as well. You can get a heat protectant for your hair at any big box store or pharmacy, and even at the supermarket! There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be using a heat protectant, it will make your hair so much healthier. Try to find a product that contains silicone, which is great at protecting hair.

Don’t Do it too Often

It really isn’t healthy for your hair to wash it every day, and especially not healthy to blow dry it every day. If you get your hair dirty by exercising or another reason, of course you can wash it, but if you just washed it the previous day and it still seems clean, then skip a day. The fewer times per week that you wash and blow dry your hair the healthier it will be.

Use a Deep Conditioner

If you’re blow drying your hair on a regular basis, then you are going to sustain a small amount of damage no matter how careful you are. This is why it makes good sense to use a deep conditioner. There are many choices available at your local big box store. They are typically sold in a “jar” type container rather than a bottle container. Try to choose one that has a very thick texture. Use the deep conditioner once or twice per week. Your hair will be looking great in no time!

DealDash Helps: Heal Your Rough Feet

DealDash

Your feet are one of your most important parts of your body. Take care of them with a little help from DealDash.

Your feet carry you from here to there without complaint. Why not do them a favor and take good care of them by healing the rough and dry parts? They will not only feel better but look nicer as well. Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash to keep your feet looking and feeling their best.

Exfoliate Those Puppies

Exfoliating your feet is one of the easiest ways to keep your feet nice and smooth instead of scaly and rough. Exfoliation can be done in quite a few different ways. Firstly, you’ll want to be sure that your feet have been softened up with water. This can be done by soaking them in a bowl or bucket of water, in the bathtub, or even just by waiting until the end of your shower.

Firstly, you’ll want to be sure that your feet have been softened up with water. This can be done by soaking them in a bowl or bucket of water, in the bathtub, or even just by waiting until the end of your shower.

Next, use your exfoliator of choice. You can use a pumice stone, a stiff brush, or even a cream exfoliator. Personally, I like the sugar based ones, because they dissolve in the water. If your feet need some extra TLC, then you can get one of the walnut based scrubs, instead.

Moisturizer Isn’t Just for Faces

Exfoliation will help take away the rough spots, but to keep them smooth for longer you’ll want to moisturize them daily. The best time to moisturize them is at night before bed. They even sell special socks that have a gel-like liner that will keep your feet moisturized all night.

The type of moisturizer that you use on your feet isn’t really important unless you happen to have a foot condition or diabetes. If you have either a foot condition or diabetes you need to consult your doctor before exfoliating or moisturizing your feet. If your feet are free of a pre-existing condition, then you can use anything from baby lotion to face lotion to body lotion to special foot lotion. They have special lotion for the feet that is scented like peppermint and is very soothing. However, any type of moisturizer is better than none on your feet, so feel free to use what you have.

DealDash Helps Your Hair Grow Longer

DealDash

Growing out your hair can seem like it takes forever. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to help.

As someone who went to beauty school and has very long hair, I consider myself quite the expert in this area. Growing out your hair from a shorter haircut can be tough and take quite a long time, but it is do-able. Here are some ideas to help you get started on your path to long and luxurious hair, from DealDash.

Get Frequent Trims

I had always heard the hair growing tip “get frequent trims”, but it never made sense to me. Why cut your hair if you’re trying to make it grow? The reason that you should be getting frequent trims if you’re trying to grow out your hair is split ends. Hair that isn’t trimmed frequently gets split ends, and surprisingly enough, they can split all the way up to the scalp. This is why it’s important to take good care of your hair and catch those split ends before they get started.

Avoid Harsh Shampoos

Go look on the back of your shampoo and read the ingredients. If there are any ingredients with the word “sulfate”, then you should think about getting a different shampoo. Sulfates are chemicals make your hair weak and brittle. Weak and brittle hair will lead to breakage which will keep you from growing your hair out. Use shampoos labeled as being sulfate-free. It used to be difficult to find sulfate-shampoo, but now you can get them at any big box store or salon that sells shampoo.

How Are You Washing Your Hair?

Hopefully, the answer to “How are you washing your hair?” is “Every 2nd or 3rd day, with cool water.” I grew up washing my hair every single day, but apparently, it’s much healthier for your hair to wash it every-other or every third day instead of daily. Washing your hair too often can lead to weaker hair.

Hair is also especially prone to breaking when it’s wet, please be very careful if you try to brush your hair before it’s dry. First use a comb, then follow up with a brush that’s made for wet hair if you must brush it when it’s wet.

Use Less Heat

You’ve probably heard this before, but heat-styling can be very damaging to your hair. If you must use a blow dryer on your hair, then use it on the low or medium setting instead of high heat.

The same goes for flat irons and curling irons – use a lower heat setting. It’s also much better for your hair if you don’t use these heating tools on consecutive days. This will give your hair a chance to recover and also there will be less chance to cause heat damage to your hair.

Even More Benefits of Coconut Oil From DealDash

DealDash coconut oil

We have discussed the benefits of coconut oil before, but here are even more!

You can find coconut oil everywhere, and there are numerous uses that coconut oil is known for. Talking about its advantages, it’s hard to list just a few. Here are some more of the excellent benefits that coconut oil can provide you. Coconut oil is easily obtained and not very expensive. Here are some great coconut oil uses from DealDash.

Oral Care

Coconut oil has anti-fungal and antibacterial proprieties. You can do a gargle rinse with a spoon of coconut oil. To get the maximum benefits it should be done for 10-20 minutes. It will eliminate the germs from your mouth and bacterial plaque. This will give you a fresh breath, whiter teeth, healthier gums and even prevent dental cavities. Some people describe this gargle as “oil pulling”.

Hair Care

We’ve mentioned hair care before. However, since coconut oil makes miracles for the deteriorated, damaged, and dried hair it seemed worth mentioning again. Its acids soften your hair and the best way to apply it to your hair is to gently rub a small quantity between your palms to soften the coconut oil. It will also hydrate your hands as well. After that, apply it to your hair from the roots to the ends with the help of a comb. Use a towel to cover it for more than 15 minutes and wash it with a gentle shampoo.

Dandruff and dry scalp are major skin problems. This is why you can hydrate the roots of your hair with a night treatment based on coconut oil. Gently apply it at your roots and massage your head. This also helps the growth of hair. Let it absorb for at least 30 minutes and then wash your hair with shampoo after that. You can also put on a shower cap and leave it on all night for extra hydtation.

Skin Care

Coconut oil can help you to get rid even the most water-resistant mascara. You can simply put a bit of oil on a cotton ball and gently rub it against your eyes. Please be gentle with the gentle skin below your eyes. The oil will disintegrate the mascara, and even leave the eye area hydrated. After you finish this, continue to wash your face as you usually do.

Highlighter for Cheeks

Nothing helps perk up a tired face than a little bit of shine. Simple and straightforward, just put a little coconut oil on top of your make-up. This gives your skin a highlighted glow. You can also apply it directly on your cheeks for a fresh-faced look.

Night Cream

It is widely known that you can use the coconut oil as a night cream. Help hydrate your skin by applying a serum that penetrates your skin, then coconut oil on top. Coconut oil can be combined with your favorite cream because it kills fatty acids that contribute to the growth of new bacteria. This process helps clean your skin while the antioxidants are perfect for smoothing your wrinkles.

DealDash – Maintaining Your Radiant Beauty

dealdash beauty skin care

Taking good care of your body and skin is important. Here are some of DealDash’s best tips to maintain your body and skin.

Taking good care of your health, body, and skin is very important, especially as we age. It isn’t as simple as just washing your face, there’s more to it than that. Here are some top tips for maintaining your radiant beauty from DealDash.

5 Simple Tips

Here are five of the best simple tips and activities to keep your natural beauty fresh and radiant at any age:

  1. Sleep

You don’t have to stay up late, you’re not missing anything. We have all heard about “beauty sleep”, and I have to say this is by no means just a saying. There are studies that show that sleeping reduces wrinkles, makes your eyes less puffy, and gives you a glowing complexion.

  1.  Running

What other exercise, if not running, gives the most benefits? From a healthier heart to lower stress levels, running will always be one of the main activities to lose weight and tone your body.

  1. Water

Recently, there have been many studies involving water and overall beauty. It has been shown that enough H2O makes your skin glow and clears acne. The studies also show a reduction in hair loss and makes the nails stronger.

  1.  Food Selection

You’ve heard the saying “we are what we eat”, and it couldn’t be more true nowadays when we are inundated with so many types of food. Though fruits are healthy, don’t drink too many citrus juices that might damage your teeth. Grapefruit and lemon juice are well-known enamel enemies. Make strawberries part of your daily life. The Vitamin C helps to build up collagen which reduces the wrinkles. Surprisingly enough, strawberries can actually help whiten your teeth!

  1.  Wash your hair less often

Dermatologists all around the world know that shampooing too often can lead to hair loss and it can damage the health of your hair. Remember: everything that is done too often or used too much can cause damage to your body.

If you’re a little more concerned with makeup than skin care, here’s an extra tip:

Use the Right Tools for the Job

You can have the best eyeshadow money can buy, the world’s most luxurious foundation, or a bronzer straight from the cosmetic bag of a supermodel. But if you don’t have the right tools to apply them, their benefits will be lost. You might as well be applying makeup from the dollar store!

What constitutes the “right” tools? Brushes should be soft and feel gentle on the skin, but also have substance to them so the product can be easily applied to the surface of your skin. If you dip a brush in shadow or blush and the color falls off before you make it to your face, that’s a bad brush, experts say.

DealDash Skin Care – Makeup Removal

dealdash makeup removal

Taking off your makeup nightly is a very important part of skin care. Let DealDash show you some tips and techniques.

Taking off your makeup nightly is one way to be sure that your skin stay healthy, glowing, and blemish-free. Washing your face with soap can leave your skin dry, itchy, and tight. Soap is a definite no-no when washing your face, especially in the winter. Read on to hear how to remove your makeup in a more healthy way for your skin, from DealDash.

Step 1

The first thing that you should do when taking off your makeup at night is to take off any eye makeup and mascara. You can use any makeup remover for this, the kind that contains oil, or oil-free for people who already have oily skin. If you don’t like the chemicals in the eye makeup remover you can also use coconut oil! Just warm up a little in your hand, apply with a cotton ball, and wipe off.

Step 2

Next, you can wash your face using a variety of products. You can use a regular cleanser, makeup wipes, or even micellar water. Micellar water is my favorite way to remove cleanse my face. It’s so easy to use and doesn’t even require water. You can use it on all areas of your face, including eyes and lips. Simply apply the micellar water to a cotton round, cotton ball, q-tip, or even a tissue to the face, eyes, and lips. Then wipe off makeup without rubbing.

Step 3

Finally, you should apply a toner to your face. No matter how well you cleanse your face and remove your makeup there is usually a small amount of residue left behind. Toner removes the leftovers and returns your skin to the proper PH balance. Simply wet a cotton round or cotton ball with toner and wipe your whole face including your neck. There’s no rinsing required! After applying a toner you should follow up with the moisturizer of your choice.

DealDash Uses Activated Charcoal

dealdash activated charcoal

Activated charcoal has many uses for your body as well as household uses. Here are just a few from DealDash.

Are you familiar with activated charcoal? It’s not the type of charcoal you use to barbecue. This charcoal is a special type has been used for hundreds of years for uses such as reducing odors, water purification, and poison control. Here is some great information about activated charcoal from DealDash.

How is Activated Charcoal Made?

Activated charcoal is made by burning items such as wood or coconut shells to a char. Then, it is further heated to extreme temperatures along with certain gases to make the surface area of charcoal more porous.

How Does Activated Charcoal Work?

Since the activated charcoal is so porous it means it can absorb material over 1,000 times its weight. Isn’t that amazing? There are not many materials on Earth that can make that claim.

Activated charcoal doesn’t absorb things like a sponge. It acts more like a negatively charged magnet attracting positively charged compounds (think free radicals) to stick to its outsides and then sweeps it out of your system.

How Can You Use Activated Charcoal?

As a Tooth Whitener

Activated charcoal is non-abrasive but great at sweeping away plaque and stains on the teeth. Thus, activated charcoal will leave you with a brighter smile. You can use it alone or mix it with other ingredients like baking soda, coconut oil, or even clay to cleanse your teeth.

As a Purifying and Cleansing Face Mask

Since activated charcoal has such strong absorption properties, it’s great for the skin. Activated charcoal can pull out dirt and oils, leaving you with a fresh, clean face. You can mix activated charcoal with a bit of water to make a simple paste. You can also add ingredients such as aloe for a more soothing effect on the skin or bentonite clay for even more ‘pull’ of toxins from your skin.

There are just a couple of ways that you can use the amazing properties of activated charcoal. There are many other ways to use activated charcoal on your body or even around the house.

DealDash Does DIY Facials

dealdash diy facial

Everyone needs a little pampering sometimes. Here is a recipe for a DIY facial from DealDash.

Have you been looking for a way to unwind after a busy day at the office or at home with the kids?  Do you want to do something to relax and also help beautify your skin?  Maybe you have a daughter who wants to have a spa day.  Everyone deserves some pampering, especially hardworking moms.  Here’s your guide to a DIY facial on a budget from DealDash.

Products Needed

  • Makeup remover
  • Gentle cleanser
  • Water
  • Facial scrub – or Make your own with honey & granulated sugar –
  • Face mask – Make it with avocado, banana, and olive oil –
  • Moisturizer

Directions

  1. Get set up.  Get your products together, tie back your hair, and put on some relaxing music or light a candle.  This routine is easiest in a bathroom or somewhere with easy access to a sink.
  2. Begin by removing any makeup and washing your face with a gentle cleanser.
  3. Fill a large bowl with steaming hot water, then hold your face over the bowl and drape a towel over the other side of your face.  Remain that way for 5-7 minutes.   This is similar to the steam treatment that many professional facials include, and both serve to open up the pores and allow other products to have deeper effects on the skin.
  4. Exfoliate the skin, either using a store-bought exfoliating scrub or by making your own.  A super simple recipe is to combine one part honey with two parts granulated sugar.  Sugar is an awesome natural exfoliate, and honey has antimicrobial properties that make it great for skin.
  5. Do a face mask.  There are a variety of store-bought masks available for purchase at a variety of price points, many of which are tailored to certain skin types, or you can make one of your own using ingredients you probably only have in your kitchen.  You may want to search online for a recipe that is specific to your skin type or one that uses a certain ingredient, or use this simple recipe: mix together half an avocado, a ripe banana, and one tablespoon of olive oil in a small bowl.  Apply to the face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
  6. Pat your face dry with a clean towel, finish up with a moisturizer and enjoy your glowing skin!

This is only one of many ways to do an at-home facial.  You can mix it up with different recipes or products, or you could also combine this activity with painting your nails or deep conditioning your hair for extra relaxation and pampering.   However you choose to use these steps, it’s always worthwhile to take some time to unwind and care for yourself.

DealDash Winter Skin Fixes – FACE

DealDash Winter Skin Fixes

Last week we talked about some winter skin fixes for your lips. Today we are going to expand to the rest of the face, neck, and decolletage.

As we talked about last week, the winter weather wrecks havoc on your otherwise healthy and vibrant skin. No one is immune to this unless you live somewhere that the weather is nice year-round – but then you have to worry more about sun damage, so we should all take the best care of our skin that we can, no matter where we live.

Speaking of sun damage, even though it’s cold and snowy outside the sun can still damage your skin if you go outside without any sunscreen on. However, in the winter most people are more covered up anyway, so you can probably get away with using an SPF 15, 20, or 30 that is built in to your regular daytime moisturizer. If you aren’t wearing a regular daytime moisturizer, it’s time to start.

Moisturizer on your face is key to keeping nice-looking skin year-round. You should preferably have a daytime moisturizer with SPF in it, and a thicker moisturizer for night time. Yes, men too! Men get sun damage just like women, and can also suffer from wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancer. Everyone needs sunscreen in all seasons.

Beating the rough dry skin of winter can be difficult, but advances in sonic brushes have made things a lot easier. DealDash has a sonic brush kit that has everything you need to tame your winter skin. The kit includes everything that you need to get started on your way to smoother winter skin:

  • Handheld sonic unit
  • 4 batteries
  • Body polishing brush
  • Facial brush
  • Facial buffer
  • Pumice for feet, elbows, and extra dry patches of skin

These brush kits from DealDash come in a variety of colors including pink, purple, and white. I personally have won a few of these kits. They are awesome to use on yourself, but they also make wonderful presents for just about anyone on your list.

If you’d like to fix your dry winter skin, be sure to pick up the brush kit from DealDash. It’s great for your face, neck, decolletage, and if you switch out the brush heads you can use it anywhere on your body. Visit DealDash now to pick up a kit. DealDash – Feeling Sick but Looking Good

Here are a few ideas from DealDash to look your best even when you’re feeling your worst.

It’s winter, so let’s face it – you’re either currently sick, getting over being sick, or about to be sick. That’s just the nature of the winter season. However, unless you are lucky enough to be able to stay home until you are 100% better, you’re probably going to have to soldier on through the illness and go out in public. No one likes to go out when they feel terrible, but here are a few ideas from DealDash to look and feel a little better when you have to go out when you’re sick.

Moisturize, inside and out! When you’re sick you need to drink extra water. Not only does your body need water to heal, you also need to drink extra water to keep your skin from getting dried out in the cold winter air. In addition to the extra water for inside, you need to be extra vigilant with moisturizer and lotions when you’re sick. Even if you’re perhaps someone who doesn’t regularly moisturize your face, you should take good care of your facial skin when you’re sick. If you’re constantly blowing your nose the skin around your nose and lips is going to get very dry and chapped. Put some moisturizer on it!

In addition to the extra water for inside, you need to be extra vigilant with moisturizer and lotions when you’re sick. If you’re constantly blowing your nose the skin around your nose and lips is going to get very dry and chapped. Put some moisturizer on it!

While you’re moisturizing your face, be sure to put some lip balm on as well. Your lips are sure to get extra dry from the weather as well as from your coughing and sneezing. Try a tinted lip balm to put a little color on your face so you look a little more lively than you feel.

Wear bright cheery colors. I know that it’s tempting to wear dark or drab colors when you’re feeling terrible but put on a nice bright color. It will make your outlook on life just a little bit more optimistic, which is key to starting to feel better.

I hope that you have found this DealDash article helpful. If you’re feeling sick DealDash has many items to help you feel better such as heating pads, blankets, tea-making accessories, and more. DealDash’s Top 5 Winter Beauty Products

Image result for beautiful winter

Summer and winter beauty are very different. Here are 5 must-have products for winter to keep you looking your best in the cold weather.

In the summer you can just stick your hair in a ponytail, put on some sunscreen, and head out the door. In the winter, your hair and skin need some extra-special care to stay looking their best. Here are 5 must-have products to keep you looking beautiful through the long cold winter.

1 – Moisturizer. Moisturizer for your face is an absolute must for the winter weather. In addition to moisturizer for your face, I would also suggest a thicker lotion than you use in the summer for your body. If you don’t use moisturizer on your face and a thick lotion on your body in the winter your skin will get dry, itchy, and flaky. You can even get tiny micro-tears in your skin that are painful and slow to heal. Do your skin a favor and use moisturizer on your face and thick lotion on your body. Remember, even though it’s winter, be sure that you buy moisturizer with SPF in it to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

2 – Lip balm. Lip balm is very important in the winter. Lip balm is just like lotion…for your lips! If you don’t like the feel or smell of traditional Chapstick or Carmex, you can try one of the newer EOS or Burt’s Bees lip balms. Remember, just like the rest of your skin, your lips and the skin around your lips can also get tiny micro-tears in your skin that are painful and slow to heal.

3 – Hair dryer and flat-iron. Your hair dryer is very important in the winter. In the summer it’s fine to let your hair air dry – it’s healthier for your hair, saves time, and also saves electricity. However, in the winter it’s important to dry your hair before you go outside so you don’t get sick. I know, I know, germs make you sick, not cold air – but if you go outside with wet hair your defenses are down and you’re more likely to fall prey to a winter bug. I also suggest using a flat-iron in the winter after you have dried your hair with the hair dryer – the winter is a terrible time for static, and I find that I have less static in my hair after I have used my flat-iron.

4 – Face mask. No, I don’t mean a sleeping mask! I suggest a lovely, nourishing face mask for the winter weather. You can get one that you smooth on your skin and then wash off, or you can get one of the super-popular Korean or Japanese paper face masks that you wear, then take off and throw away. These are great, I find them to be easier and much less messy than the kind you smooth on.

5 – Whitening strips/whitening toothpaste. There’s nothing nicer than a brilliant white smile in the winter. It makes you look healthy and happy, even when the temperatures are low. Use the whitening strips, and then keep up your new look with your whitening toothpaste.

DealDash Makes: Beauty Bath Bombs

Image result for make bath bombs

Many women and children (and even some men!) love to take a relaxing bath before bed. Homemade bath bombs can make your bath extra luxurious.

Bath bombs are very easy to make, the ingredients are relatively inexpensive, and you can make them tailored to your own scent preference. Not only that, you can even make them into fun shapes for your children or to give as gifts. Don’t pay those outrageous mall specialty store prices, make your own! Once you have the basic recipe you can include any sort of color, scent, or shape that you like. This is also a fun project that you can do with your kids, if they are reluctant bathers, this might help.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Citric Acid
  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salt (preferably the fine-grained type)
  • 1/2 cup Corn Starch
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Almond Oil (or grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or any other carrier oil that you choose)
  • 3/4 tablespoons Water
  • 2 teaspoons Essential Oils (Any scent you like, you can even mix them)
  • Liquid food coloring (optional, but extra fun)
  • Mold (Silicone is the easiest to remove the bath bomb)

Directions:

  1. Using your dry ingredients, combine 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of corn starch, 1/2 cup of epsom salt, and 1/2 cup of citric acid in a large bowl. Be sure that your dry ingredients are mixed well.
  2. Using your liquid ingredients, combine 2 1/2 tablespoons of almond ( or other carrier oil) oil, 3/4 tablespoons of water, and 2 teaspoons of essential oils in a separate bowl.
  3. Combine the mixture of wet ingredients into your dry ingredients and mix together. Please be sure that they are mixed extremely well, otherwise you will have chunks in your bath bombs, and no one wants that!
  4. Add your food coloring. Approximately 3-6 drops of food coloring is appropriate, depending on how light or dark you would like your bath bombs. If you would like to make more than 1 color of bath bomb, separate your mixture into different bowls. The more bowls you use separate your mixture, the less food coloring you will need to use in each. Mix food coloring well, you can even put gloves on and squash it around with your hands.
  5. Time to fill your mold! spoon some of your mixture into the mold, and squash down tightly with either a spoon or your hand. Continue filling and squashing until your bath bomb has reached the top of the mold. You can even layer different colors on top of one another.
  6. Let your mixture dry in the mold for 1-2 hours, depending on how big the bath bombs are.
  7. Remove from the mold, put on waxed paper, and continue to let them dry overnight.
  8. After drying you can store them in airtight containers and use as needed.

If you are having a difficult time finding the perfect silicone mold, you can use metal or plastic molds as well. Even a muffin tin will work in a pinch! For kid’s bath bombs I like to use fun-shaped silicone ice cube trays. You can make more bath bombs that way, so they can throw in 2 or 3 per bath.

DealDash Chooses a Hair Brush

Image result for hairbrush

There are quite a few different styles of hair brushes, and it can be a little confusing which brush is right for the job. DealDash can help…

If you have medium or long hair you most likely have at least one hairbrush. Even people with short hair like my husband usually have a brush around their bathroom somewhere, even if they don’t use it very often. Here is a quick explanation of which hairbrush is right for which job.

Image result for paddle brush

Paddle brush – The paddle brush is great for medium to long hair. If you like having straighter and less frizzy hair, the paddle brush can be your hair dryer’s perfect companion. The paddle brush is also less prone to causing hair breakage when you use it to brush your hair when wet. However, it’s always a good idea to comb out your hair or use a detangling brush before you use a brush.

Image result for detangling brush

Detangling brush – This brush is great for detangling! The detangling brush has rows of soft flexible bristles that won’t snag or pull hair when you are trying to brush it out after your shower. You can use this brush for double-duty, massage your scalp with this brush to generate blood flow, which promotes hair growth.

Image result for round brush

Round brush – The round brush is perfect for blowdrying hair. The longer your hair is, the larger the barrel of the hairbrush should be for maximum drying power. If you choose a hair brush with a ceramic barrel it will heat up as you are drying your hair and dry the hair much faster, saving you time.

Image result for sculpting brush hair

Sculpting brush – The sculpting brush is a great all-around brush for daily use. You can brush the tangles out, use with the blow dryer, or style your hair with this type of brush. If you can only choose one brush, I would choose the sculpting brush for its versatility.

I hope that you found this quick guide helpful to choose your next hair brush. DealDash has many wonderful items for health and beauty. Visit DealDash’s Fashion, Health, and Beauty category at this link here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Dries Hair

Image result for old fashioned hair dryer

I would wager a guess that almost all of the people who are reading this article have used a hair dryer at some point in their life. However, most people probably don’t know the history of the hair dryer. DealDash does…

The hair dryer was invented in France in 1890, by a salon owner named  Alexander F. “Beau” Godefroy. The hair dryer that he created was the stationary kind that looks similar to the ones seen in salons today, with the seat for the person to sit on, and the hood that goes over the head. His version, however, was not the rigid material that you see the hoods being made out of today, but rather a flexible shower-cap type of hood.

After 25 years or so, the hair dryer branched out into handheld versions as well as the stationary hooded type. The handheld version looked quite similar to what we use today, though they were much heavier, some upwards of 2 pounds. Interestingly enough, the only real changes since the 1920s have been mostly visual, as the mechanism of the dryer has not had any significant changes since its inception.

Now that you know a little bit about its history, let’s look at some tips on using the hair dryer.

  • Use a heat protector. The hair dryer uses extremely high temperatures that can damage your hair if you leave it in one place for too long. The heat protector can save your hair from getting fried.
  • Use a concentrating nozzle for straight styles, and a diffuser for curly styles. The concentrating nozzle directs all of the air exactly where you want it, shortening your time drying your hair. The diffuser does the opposite, and drying time takes longer, but it won’t make your curly hair frizzy.
  • If you have the time to spare, try letting your hair air dry or towel dry for 10 to 15 minutes before you use the blow dryer. It will save you on power and save your hair some damage.

I hope that you learned a bit about hair dryers by reading this article. DealDash has many health and beauty items available, including hair dryers. I personally won a hair dryer from DealDash for 1 bid and .02 last year. Check out the hair dryers on DealDash at this link right here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Heals Heels

Image result for foot scrub

Summer is ending soon, and with the fall and winter weather comes dry, cracked feet and heels. Stop it before it starts with this foot care routine.

If you’ve been wearing sandals and flip-flops, and even going barefoot this summer your feet probably need some TLC before the winter sets in and your skin gets dry and itchy, and even more sensitive than before. This foot care routine can be done weekly or as often as you need it. Here’s to a winter with soft, beautiful feet.

  • Start off your foot care routine with a nice, lukewarm foot bath. Let your feet soak in water with epsom salts, lavender essential oil, tea tree oil, or even a bit of Johnson & Johnson’s baby wash.
  • Next, scrub your feet with a scrub brush or a foot file. Try to concentrate on your heels, and wherever else you feel needs some extra attention.
  • Lastly, whip up a batch of this super-soothing foot balm and slather it on.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons beeswax
  • 4 tablespoons shea butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 10 drops tea tree oil
  • 20 drops lavender essential oil

Directions:

  1. Combine the beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil in a glass measuring cup or bowl.
  2. Bring approximately 3 inches of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Reduce heat to low. Place the glass measuring cup or bowl in the pan and melt the ingredients together.
  3. While your mixture is still warm, and immediately pour the liquid mixture into a storage container. This container can be made of thick plastic or glass, and be sure that it has a lid so you can save some of your foot balm for multiple uses.
  4. Before your mixture is completely cool, Stir the honey into the balm.
  5. Add 20 drops of lavender essential oil, and 10 drops of tea tree oil and stir again to completely combine all of the ingredients.
  6. After your foot bath and scrub, apply the balm to your feet concentrating on the heels to soften and soothe dry skin. Put on a thick pair of socks (preferably bamboo material) and wear them overnight to lock in the moisture and relieve cracked heels.

DealDash Makes: Lip Scrub

Image result for lip scrub

Winter is just around the corner, and I don’t know about you, but my lips get extra dry in the cold weather. Let’s see what we can do to stop the damage before it even starts.

If you’ve never used a lip scrub before, you’re in for a treat. Lip exfoliation can help remove the dry, dead skin covering the lips, and reveal your soft lips underneath. Lip scrubs are easy, quick, and inexpensive to make. Though it can be slightly addicting once you start, it’s important not to use this scrub to much-our lips are fragile after all. Once a week is more than enough to keep your lips soft and healthy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbs of sugar – white or brown is OK, I prefer the “Sugar in the Raw” brand
  • Approximately 1 Tsp of coconut oil – if this is not enough to make your sugar stick together add more little by little until you have reached your desired consistency.
  • 5 drops of vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Mix the sugar with enough coconut oil to get it to stick together
  2. Add in the vanilla extract, stir
  3. Once a week rub the scrub onto your lips in small circular motions for about 1 minute
  4. Let it sit for 1 minute, and then wipe off with a damp washcloth
  5. Apply a moisturizing lip balm after each use

This recipe can be adapted to fit your own tastes, for example, you could use white sugar and add 1 drop of the food coloring of your choice if you would like to make a pretty scrub to use as a gift. In fact, you could make up a large batch of this, put it in pretty containers from the craft store, tie ribbons around the top, and give them as gifts this holiday season.

This lip scrub should last for a few weeks stored at room temperature, and even longer if you refrigerate it. If you do put it in the fridge, though, make sure you give it a good stir before you use it.

I hope that you will find this article helpful in the upcoming chilly weather. If you enjoy skin care and beauty, DealDash has a wonderful category called Fashion, Health, and Beauty which you will enjoy browsing. Just click this link right here and it will take you to DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Skin Care: Vitamin C

Every so often a new trend comes around in skin care. Right now the “it” trend for skin is products with Vitamin C. It’s delicious and nutritious for your skin.

“Anti-aging” “Lightening” “Brightening” these are just a few of the claims associated with using skin care products with Vitamin C in them. How true are these claims? Let’s take a closer look and see.

Vitamin C’s skin benefits are mostly due to its benefits in supporting healthy collagen. Collagen works closely with elastin to support the skin. In layman’s terms, it comprises the framework that provides form, firmness, and strength to the skin, while elastin is what gives skin its flexibility. Think of collagen as the peanut butter to elastin’s jelly. Unfortunately, the amount of collagen in your skin declines with age, and its accelerated by many different factors such as sunlight, smoking, free radicals, and inflammation. Luckily, vitamin C can help a bit with your collagen. When vitamin C is topically applied to the skin, it provides a skin-rejuvenating effect by improving collagen synthesis in the skin that slows down with aging, and also limits skin damage from free radicals.

Does it have to be topical? Yes. While ingesting vitamin C is definitely healthy for your body it doesn’t really do much to help your skin. Amazingly, when you apply topical vitamin C to the skin it is 20 times more effective than oral ingestion! Don’t toss out your oranges and grapefruits just yet, though. Vitamin C plays an important part of keeping your body healthy inside as well. Why choose? Ingest and topically apply vitamin C for excellent health inside and out.

Now that you know that vitamin C can help you with your collagen, you might be wondering how you should incorporate Vitamin C-based skin care products into your daily routine. Vitamin C-based products come in a variety of different types of formulas. You can find vitamin C in creams, lotions, serums, face oils, and other types of treatments. Pay attention to the label, look for a concentration of vitamin C at about 10-20%. Anything less and it won’t be as effective, and any more and you may irritate your skin.

I hope that this article has given you a few new ideas about skin care. DealDash has some great beauty and personal care items in their Fashion, Health, and Beauty category. Visit DealDash at this link right here and see all of the beauty products available. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Cares About Your Skin

Having beautiful skin comes naturally to some people while others have to work for it. Here are some tips to show off your best skin.

Some people wake up with beautiful skin, do nothing to it, and have it look great with no effort required whatsoever. Other people have the worst luck with eczema, others have problems with comedones. Comedones are what most people refer to as pimples. Open comedones are blackheads; black because of surface pigment (melanin), rather than dirt. Closed comedones are whiteheads; the follicle is completely blocked.

Comedones are fairly easy to stay on top of by using a quality cleanser and a facial scrubbing-brush. Eczema is a little more difficult, there is actually no known cure for eczema, only treatments to manage it. People are usually diagnosed with eczema when they are babies, and some people eventually grow out of it. For others their eczema needs to be managed with high-quality creams and the dedication to use them daily.

In addition to these skin care tips you should also remember that daily sunblock is very important. When you are getting ready for the day it’s important to remember to apply a facial moisturizer or a sunblock that’s meant for the face. 30 SPF is the protection factor that I always advise for someone who wants to start an SPF daily ritual.

It’s also important to remember that whatever your skin type, be it normal, oily, dry, or combination you should be using a high-quality cleanser that is meant to be used on the face. A lot of people have asked me why they can’t just use the soap that they use on their body if it’s a “gentle” type soap. The truth of the matter is that soap dries out your skin. The drying effect on the skin of the body isn’t usually noticed, but it can be very damaging to the facial skin.

I hope that these skincare tips can help you in your daily life. If you are in need of a great facial cleansing brush you should check out DealDash. I have gotten a few of the face and body cleansing brushes from DealDash and I enjoy them very much. I actually gave one to my Mother-In-Law as a gift last year and she loves it as well. If you’d like to check out the cleansing brushes on DealDash just click this link right here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Helps: Repair Your Hair

The summer is great in a lot of ways, but all of that sun, pool chlorine, and ocean saltwater can wreck havoc on your hair. Here are some ways to fix the problem.

Full disclaimer: It’s not really possible to “heal” your hair, since hair is really just dead keratin. However, there are ways to bind your split ends together to make your hair appear more smooth and healthy. These treatments are also helpful in protecting the growing hair that is closer to the scalp.

The first step in doing damage control on your hair is switching up your shampoo and conditioner. You don’t have to buy the most expensive shampoo and conditioner out there, you just need to pay attention to the ingredients. Choose a shampoo and conditioner that promotes low pH balance on their labels. They’ll help keep moisture locked in, which is key in getting your dry, damaged, brittle hair to look healthier. Also look for products that say, “intense moisture,” “anti-aging,” or “thermal protection.” Also, you might want to opt for shampoos and conditioners that have oils in them. Avocado oil, argan oil, and olive oil are all good for moisturizing dry, brittle hair.

Once you have picked a great shampoo and conditioner it’s time to pick a deep conditioning treatment. There are plenty of them out there, but I find it more beneficial to make my own hair mask. Here is a super simple and easy to make hair mask. There are only 2 ingredients! Egg and avocado. Here’s what to do:

Ingredients

  • ½ an avocado (Pro tip: Use a mushier avocado)
  • 2 egg yolks

Directions

Mash the avocado into a paste and mix well with the egg yolks. Apply to wet or dry hair and allow to sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing and washing hair. Done!

Sometimes there’s nothing more that you can do to fix things and it’s time for a haircut. So if your damaged hair has a straw-like texture and good hair days are just a thing that other people have, the first thing you can do to make it look better is to get a trim. To achieve good results, you don’t have to get a super short cut; you can leave some length and treat the remaining damaged hair. If you’re the sort of person who looks good with a pixie cut or super-short bob, go for it! That way you can get rid of the bulk of the damaged hair and start fresh.

If you are in need of a new hair dryer (be sure to dry on low with a diffuser for maximum hair health) or any other beauty product be sure to check out DealDash’s Fashion, Health, and Beauty category. DealDash has everything you need to keep you in style. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!
