DealDash Encourages Kids to Exercise

DealDash

After eating that big Thanksgiving dinner you might want to talk to them about exercise. Here are some tips from DealDash.

The association of physical exercise with mental benefits is something we all know. This also includes your children as well! physical activity keeps us in a good mood, improves our cognitive abilities and generally keeps us awake, smart, young, active. These are good habits that can help your children out for their lifetime. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Some Benefits of Exercise for Kids

The benefits of physical activity reach the classroom in the form of improved student performance. Some studies also suggest that for children, physical exercise helps them to concentrate better and be less impulsive. This is especially true of kids who have problems with attention and focus.

A study of overweight children found that enrolling them in a course of 40 minutes of aerobic exercise per day improved their executive function. This is the thing that influences concentration, planning ability and distraction resistance.

Another recent study of more than 220 school-age children found that those who performed about 60 minutes of daily physical exercise in extracurricular activities scored best on the tests of concentration and cognitive flexibility. This is the ability to switch from one task to another while maintaining speed and accuracy.

Getting Kids to Play Sports

Although studies show these positive effects of exercise on the mind in children, more research is still needed to determine exactly what type and how much exercise is needed. In any case, continuing physical activity adapted to each child’s abilities is part of a healthy lifestyle. It is highly recommended for children to become accustomed from an early age to include it in their daily life.

To achieve this, the best thing to do is to make it a fun part of your day. This means letting them choose the activity or sport they like best and avoiding turning it into a source of pressure. The variety of physical activities at your fingertips is so wide that it’s best to let them try and choose what they enjoy the most. Some suggestions include swimming, hiking, soccer, softball, or even just riding bikes around the neighborhood.

However, you have to find the right balance between motivation and pressure when it comes to sports. Giving him the support he needs to stay in a team, for example, but not making that support conditional on winning victories. Try to encourage playing sports for the fun of it, and not necessarily for trophies.

DealDash Pets: 3 Surprising Benefits of Pets

DealDash

Pets are great. Here are 3 benefits of having a pet you might not have thought of, from DealDash.

It is a wonderful experience to have a pet, especially when you own a dog. Many people know that owning a dog is a lot of responsibility, but it also has many benefits.  A lot of people don’t know just how important it is to have a pet. Maybe you are thinking about getting a pet, but you don’t know if that is the right decision.  Here are some surprising benefits of having a man’s (or woman’s!) best friend, from DealDash.

You Will Stay Fit

Owning a dog will help you stay fit. You will burn plenty of calories playing with your dog, and walking them.  On those certain days when you want to skip your workout, you will still have to get a little bit. You will need to walk your dog because most likely they will be standing at the door with a leash in their mouth.

Losing weight and staying fit can be easier just by taking care of your dog. You can walk your cat as well if you have a harness. However, cats are not quite as eager to get out and take a walk as a dog would be.

Your Life Will Be Much Easier

Life can sometimes be rough but owning a dog can make it much easier. Studies have shown that dogs can lower your stress level. Simply petting your dog and playing with them can reduce your stress level. Caring for your dog is also a good distraction from worrying about your problems.

Many other pets can also fill this need. Cuddly pets like cats and dogs are the perfect solution. However, even having a hamster, bird, or fish can help lower stress levels, as well.

You Will Know If You Are Sick

Studies have shown that dogs are known to detect cancer.  Many people that own dogs have noticed that their dog sniffs nudges or touch the spots where the cancer is located.  One of the most surprising benefits of owning a dog is that they can alert you to changes in your body.  Make sure you pay attention to your dog so that you will recognize the signs.

Thanks for Reading

I hope I have convinced you that owning a dog or other pet can be a rewarding experience.  These surprising benefits will help you make the right decision about owning a pet or not. Remember to take good care of your pet, and he will take good care of you.

I hope that you found this DealDash article on pets and their benefits helpful. If you have any tips for pets and their owners please share them below in a comment.

Happy Halloween! Now Work Off That Candy!

DealDash

Now that the candy binging is almost over, it’s time to think about health. Here are some tips for hiring a personal trainer, from DealDash.

Are you are looking to get healthy? If you’re seeking out the services of a personal trainer there are several things that you should look. What should you look for in the personal trainer? Here are some tips from DealDash that will help you choose a trainer to assist you in getting fit.

Patience is a Virtue

When you look for a personal trainer you need to find one that has patience. Working out, especially if you have not done it in a while, can be really difficult. You need to have someone who will be patient with you no matter what skill level you happen to be. The personal trainer that you choose should also have excellent skills in communication. They should be able to communicate exactly what they want from you so that you know exactly what to do. This way you will not get injured while you are exercising.

Are They Professional?

You also need to make sure that your personal trainer is a professional. You need to be sure that while being helpful, your personal trainer should be as professional as possible. Basically, you want to make sure that you can get the proper advice from your trainer while keeping everything as professional as possible without becoming too familiar with your trainer. You don’t want to think of this as a friendship but a business relationship.

I have experienced this before in a different type of business relationship. We became friendly, which was nice. However, when it became more of a friendship than a business relationship she became less professional. She started canceling our appointments or arriving late when she had never done either of those things when things were strictly business. If you’re serious about your training, then you will heed this advice and kee your relationship purely professional.

Do Your Personalities Clash?

You’ll also need to find a personal trainer that is able to educate in addition to having a personality that you meshes with yours.  You need to be able to work with someone that is able to educate you on how to properly get fit. Try to make sure that their personality compliments yours so that you will enjoy working with them.

Thanks for Reading

Choosing a personal trainer is something that you need to take seriously. You need to make sure that you do your research, just like on DealDash! Your level of fitness should be important to you so be sure to take your time when selecting a personal trainer.

DealDash: How Does Exercise Help Depression?

DealDash

Can exercise help depression? You bet! Here is more information from DealDash.

Exercise is great for your body and soul. Getting into motion triggers a series of reactions in our body that results in a multitude of benefits, such as protection against heart disease, improvement of our respiratory capacity, and many other wonderful benefits. One of these other benefits is relief from depression. DealDash has more information for you, read on to find out.

Psychological Effects of Exercise

As for its psychological effects, intense exercise causes our body to release endorphins. If you aren’t familiar with endorphins, they are a chemical substance that make us feel good. They are also the cause the rider’s or runner’s high after a race, for example. Let’s face it, most people would never get through a marathon with these tiny little helpers called endorphins.

Numb the Pain With Endorphins

In addition, endorphins have an analgesic effect that reduces the sensation of pain. They can also have a sedative and relaxing effect that helps us to sleep. This is the explanation of a happy general state that we call feeling good. THese endorphins that you receive from exercise can also help patients with depression to better control and manage their symptoms.

Endorphins Not Enough?

Additionally, moderate and sustained exercise over time is also beneficial because it promotes the production of neurotrophins. Neurotrophins are proteins essential for the maintenance and growth of neurons and their connections. Some research suggests that people with depression have the smallest area of the hypothalamus, so sports would help them re-establish neural connections and feel better.

The First Step is Getting Started

One of the usual symptoms of depression is apathy and disinterest in what surrounds the patient. Therefore there is a lack of willingness to start new projects and routines. This makes fitness training seem a little unappealing, but there are some things that can make it a little easier.

Firstly, there is some consensus that any exercise is worthwhile, so choose what you like best. This might be running, biking, going to dance classes, yoga, swimming, or hiking. Look for a workout class if you want to have a more organized system or join the gym and try different things on your own if you prefer.

Next, take the opportunity to get out of the house. Training at home is always an option, but it may be a good excuse to leave home and look for a green and pleasant place to train. If you’re not a fan of regimented exercise, a brisk walk or easy hike in the park can do you a world of good.

Finally, meet other people. Lack of desire to socialize is another symptom of depression, but it’s also a way to not get lost in loneliness and help maintain bonds. You can find a group or association that practices the sport you are interested in near you or a center where you can receive dance classes. That way you’ll spend some time in the company of people who have similar interests as you do.

Thanks for Reading

Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on exercise and depression. Also remember, if you’re feeling depressed for more than a few weeks at a time then it’s very important to go see a doctor. You might just have a simple hormonal imbalance that can be corrected.

DealDash Pets: Let Your Dog Walk Off-Leash?

DealDash

There are many benefits from letting your dog walk off-lead. Here are some ways to do it safely.

If you only walk your dog or puppy in urban environments with it kept tight to your side, consider changing it up and driving to a forest trail or walking on public footpaths.

There are multiple benefits for this, but the main one being that a dog will walk itself if you let it. Interestingly enough, when let the dog off of the lead, a dog will bound from side to side, run ahead, run back, and generally have a great time. This also lets the dog do all the hard work for you. On an hour-long walk, it may even walk twice as much as you! Here are some ways to accomplish this without endangering your dog, from DealDash.

Already Have a Tight Bond

When you do try this for the first time with a new puppy, make sure you have a great bond. It should come when called into your house and be able to follow a few commands like sit and come. Never, ever use negative reinforcement like hitting to train it; this will only make it scared of you and not want to come anywhere near you. Try using positive reinforcement such as using treats, petting, and praise. This will work just fine and strengthen your bond. You should be starting this training young – the later you leave it, the harder it’ll be to install. However, if you try it too young, the puppy won’t be able to pay attention or remember.

Not Every Dog is Able to Walk Nicely

Some breeds come with their own unique problems. Hounds might spot rabbits and deer and will be off before you’ve even realized they’re gone. In this case, consider walking in large open spaces like fields to get your dog used to being called and returning to you. Labs, especially young ones, are often boisterous and full of confidence; waiting until they’re a little older won’t go amiss. Some dogs will never walk nicely off-leash, and that’s okay. Just give it your best shot, and your dog will love you for it!

Having said this, if you get your dog a little later in its life, then it might have developed a few bad habits. It might not come when called, is aggressive, or will eat anything that comes across its path. If your dog is like this, lots more training will be required before you even begin to take him off-leash. You need to be responsible here; though it’s tempting to let it off just this once, you don’t know if another dog is just around the corner. You don’t want to injure your own dog or someone else’s, so please use common sense when it comes to your own situation.

DealDash Forms Happy Habits

DealDash

Do you know someone who always seems happy? I bet they have some of these happy habits that DealDash recommends.

If you struggle to feel as happy as other people seem to be, you might just not have the right habits – the happy habits! Happy habits are just as easy to form as bad habits, and they are a whole lot more fun and good for you, too! Read on for more about happy habits, from DealDash.

Spend Time with Happy People

This happy habit is easy to form because it’s both fun and enjoyable. Do you know a few people who always seem happy? Well, spend more time with them! That’s right, happiness is like wet paint, it rubs right off onto anyone who touches it! If you spend time with happy people, then it will rub off on you, too.

Relax and Pamper Yourself

Having a nap when you can, or relaxing and reading your favorite magazine is a happy habit that anyone can do. If you’re not into reading, then how about a  nice pampering session? You can get a massage, a mani-pedi, or whatever you might enjoy. Taking a break to relax and pamper yourself is definitely a great happy habit to form.

Health and Nutrition

A healthy body is a happy body, and eating well and exercising is a very good happy habit to form. Even if you aren’t very sporty or have a high endurance level, just about anyone can go for a nice walk, do a little yoga, or take a swim. It doesn’t matter what you do to exercise, just do a little bit every day to form your happy habit.

Eating well, including fresh and healthy foods is also a good happy habit to have. Of course, occasionally indulging yourself is a good happy habit to have as well, but if you can eat healthy most of the time then you’ll be much better for it!

Be Kind to Yourself

And finally, one of the happiest habits of all – be kind to yourself. Everyone has a bad day, and everyone makes mistakes. remember – just because you’re having a bad day doesn’t mean that you have a bad life. Being kind to yourself is extremely important because no matter who you are or where you’re from everyone needs some kindness. And there’s no guarantee of kindness from anywhere except from within. Be kind to yourself and those around you – spread your happy habits around and make other people happy, too.

DealDash’s Fun Ideas for the Weekend

DealDash

Hello, weekend! It’s Saturday morning, do you have anything fun planned? If not, read on for some tips and ideas from DealDash.

What’s your favorite thing to do on weekends? Typically my family does something with the kids in the afternoon, then we go out to dinner at night. It’s fun for them, and it’s fun for me because I don’t have to cook and clean up two days per week! There are still a few weekends left before my kids go back to school, so we are going to pack in some fun activities. If you need some suggestions to get out of the house, here are some suggestions from DealDash.

Nature Walks

My family loves to be outside, but since the baby and I have very pale skin we are quite sensitive to the sun. We can get our “outdoors fix” by going on nature walks. The trees provide a nice cover from the sun, the kids get to look at cute furry animals, and we all get some exercise. Nature walks are one of those wonderful times that the kids can learn things without even realize that they are learning! This isn’t so important for my daughter who loves to learn, but my son is very “anti-school”, so it’s great for him to learn without realizing he’s doing it!

The Beach (with a Tent)

My husband and older kids love the beach. Me, not so much because of the aforementioned sun aversion. However, since we love doing things as a family, occasionally we will go to the beach. There is a lovely island beach that’s just a ferry ride away, and as luck would have it, they rent sun cabanas! So if you are sensitive to the sun like me, or have small kids that you don’t want in the harsh rays, don’t despair! You can purchase your own mini sun cabana online and bring it with you, or you can rent one. Since I have discovered the sun cabana, the summer has gotten a lot more fun.

Street Festivals

Depending on where you live, you might be able to catch a street festival going on this weekend. Where I live, in Boston, there are many small towns around me, and I am typically able to find a street festival to attend every weekend. There are music festivals, craft festivals, ethnic food festivals, kid’s festivals, and so many more! My personal favorite is the craft festival, but my husband loves the ethnic food festivals. There’s something for everyone when you go to a street festival!

DealDash: Shoo Out Those Negative Thoughts

DealDash

Having negative thoughts? Let DealDash help you shoo them right out the door!

Do you ever find yourself having negative thoughts? Almost everyone does, just like everyone has a bad day sometimes. Luckily, your negative thoughts can be turned around into positive or at least neutral ones. Read on for some tips, help, and suggestions from DealDash. We’ll shoo those negative thoughts away.

Get Out There Into the Sunshine!

If you find yourself having negative thoughts, then it’s time to change your surroundings. The best thing for you to do is to go outside and get some fresh air and sunshine. This is fairly easy to do in the summer. Even if you have kids and can’t go very far, just a walk around the block can change your mindset.

However, if you find yourself having negative thoughts in the winter when it’s too cold to go out, or if it’s dark, then go somewhere. Anywhere! You can go to the mall, coffee shop, or even just the grocery store. Sometimes just a small change in your surroundings can make your negative thoughts slip right out of your head.

Take a Bath

When I’m feeling a little down and negative, I like to take a bath. Firstly, because it’s very relaxing, but also because it’s nice to have some solitude sometimes. It’s also a fun and positive experience to use a bath bomb or bubble bath when you’re feeling negative. Not only that, it also helps relax your muscles and helps your body feel great. When your body feels great, then your thoughts are sure to follow.

Get Some Exercise

Speaking of your body feeling great, how about some exercise? When you find those negative thoughts taking over, then it’s time to exercise and get some of those “feel good” endorphins flowing. It doesn’t matter what kind of exercise. You can go to the gym, go for a run, or even just put on some music and dance. Anything that gets your body moving will help chase those negative thoughts right out the window. It’s not just your thoughts that will improve, either. Once your body gets even more fit and strong I bet you will have negative thoughts less often as well.

Thanks For Reading

Shooing out those negative thoughts can be a little tricky, but DealDash is here to help. Thanks for reading the newest DealDash article. Relax and Enjoy the Day With DealDash

DealDash

If you have a stressful life it’s important to slow down and enjoy the day ahead of you. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to help you.

Do you have a stressful job, a few wild children, or a cranky spouse? Those are all reasons why you should try to slow down and enjoy the day. Studies show that when you try to slow down and enjoy the day it brings down your stress levels. This will make you feel better both physically and mentally. Here are some ideas from DealDash to get you started.

Get a Pet

No, it doesn’t have to be a big pet like a cat or a dog. Even a parakeet in a cage or a goldfish in a bowl can help reduce your stress levels. If you have time for a larger pet such as a cat or a dog that’s even better. Having a pet to look after, spend time with, and love will help you slow down and enjoy your day while your walk, groom, or just simply watch them.

Eat Healthy

If you don’t have the time or attention to get a pet, the next best thing that you can do to relax, enjoy the day, and melt the stress away is to eat healthily. I know the temptation to stop by the drive-thru and get fast food when you’re stressed is high. However, if you can make it a point to stock healthy foods in your fridge such as yogurt, lean meats, salads, and hummus then it will be easy for you to stay on track for eating healthy. This is good for both your body and mind.

Sleep Well

Getting enough quality sleep is important to your health. It’s hard for you to relax and slow down in life when you are sleep-deprived. Doctors say that the optimal number of hours of sleep for an adult is between 7-9 hours. Some people need a little more or a little less, but this is the average. Once you are getting the optimal hours of sleep per night then you will be in a much better frame of mind to relax and enjoy your day.

Think Positively

There’s no need to have negative thoughts swimming around in your head. If you can’t conjure up some positive thoughts, then just try to keep things neutral. Thinking positively can lead to more positive actions in the future. Give it a try!

Here is some more information about exercise or yoga balls from DealDash.

Where Can I Use an Exercise Ball?

Your living room at home is the perfect place to use a yoga or exercise ball, provided that there are no sharp corners or edges that the ball could get poked on. You can also use your exercise or yoga ball in your basement, bedroom, or even your garage as long as it is free from sharp and pointy objects.

Easy Yoga Ball Exercises

There are many different exercises that you can do with your yoga ball, and there are many that are suitable for beginners.

Sit Ups

Sit on the yoga ball with your feet firmly planted on the floor. Cross your arms over your chest and lie back until you are looking at the ceiling. Return to a sitting position. There you go! One yoga ball sit up. Repeat until you have done a set of 20. Do two sets.

Ball Lifts

Lie flat on the floor with the exercise ball between your feet. Squeeze your feet together and lift your legs until the ball is above you. Return your feet and the ball back to the floor.  Repeat until you have done a set of 20. Do two sets.

Ball Roll Outs

Kneel on the floor with your toes tucked underneath your feet. The yoga ball will be in front of you. Put your forearms on the ball so your arm makes a 90-degree angle. Roll yourself forward, so you are balanced on the ball in a plank position. Your body should form a straight line from your head to your heels. Hold for one second, then bend your knees and slowly roll back to the original position. Repeat 10 times. Do two sets.

DealDash Takes a Morning Run

DealDash Morning Run

Going for a morning run is wonderful exercise, and can also start your day off on the right foot. Here are some tips to get started, from DealDash.

To go for a morning run, you have to be prepared with the right clothes and have the right attitude. The clothes are easy to get, but the attitude might take a little more effort. It will help if you eat the right foods, and be able to find the motivation to make it part of your routine a few times per week. If you can’t muster the energy for a morning run, then try a morning walk. It’s excellent exercise as well and comes with all of the great benefits for your health and well-being. Here are some of the ways that you can get prepared.

Have the Correct Clothing

If you want to go for a morning run, then you have to have the right gear. Having the right shoes and clothes can really make or break your experience. You can run or walk in any sneakers that you have, of course, but if you want to get serious then you’ll need to get a good pair of running shoes. The shoes should have a little bit of wiggle room between your toes and at the tops of your toes. The shoe should also have a secure fit in the arches and the heel.

Clothing-wise, anything that’s comfortable and well-fitting is the way to go. You might want to steer clear of 100% cotton because those clothes absorb sweat, and that’s definitely not what you want! Be sure that you have comfortable socks. You can even get socks that are specifically geared toward runners.

Make the Time for Yourself

Do you have enough time in the morning to go for a run? Most likely you will have to carve yourself out some time by getting up earlier or swapping things around so you can do some of your morning activities at night instead.

How long do you want your run to be? It doesn’t have to be a long run, even 15-20 minutes is much, much better than nothing. Try to also fit in a 5-minute warm-up and cool-down.

Stay Hydrated, Keep Your Body Fueled

Don’t forget to drink plenty of water before and after your run. You can even take a water bottle along with you if you feel like you need it. Be sure to eat a quick snack before your run. No need to fill up, just a little something to get yourself going such as a piece of fruit or a yogurt. After your run you’re going to be hungry, so be sure to have a healthy breakfast ready for yourself when you get back.

DealDash Tricks: Become a Morning Person

DealDash

How Can You Become a Morning Person? Let DealDash clue you in on some tips and tricks to help.

Every morning, you hit the snooze button on your alarm at least two times before you get up from the bed, right? That is the moment when you know that you need to do something to change this behavior in order to become a morning person. You want to be that person who radiates energy and has a healthy morning glow, right? Let’s find out how you can do this, with a little help from DealDash.

Get Used to Going to Sleep Earlier

It’s probably obvious that this tip is crucial for you to get up earlier in the morning the next day. By going to sleep earlier you give your body enough time to rest and heal for the day to come. If you try to go to sleep a little earlier every night until you are going to bed at the optimum hour, your body will create a little routine out of this. Thus, in time you will find out that is easier for you to go to bed earlier.

When is the optimum bedtime for you? I couldn’t say. It depends on your body as well as how restless a sleeper you are and when you need to wake up. As someone who typically goes to bed around midnight and wakes up at 7, my optimum bedtime is probably somewhere between 10-11PM. Your results will vary depending on your lifestyle.

Wake Up at the Same hour Every Day

Too much sleep can make you feel tired, as well. If you do not create a routine, your body will not adapt to your new wake up schedule. It is necessary that you wake up at the same hour every day, even on the weekend (groan!), for your body to adapt to the new schedule. Ultimately, you will not need an alarm to wake you up. It might take months to adapt to your new schedule. Stick with it.

Exercise Right After Breakfast

Sports and exercise can help you feel more energized in the morning, and it can also bring a better sleep at night. This practice brings only benefits in your life, there really is no downside. You can also do a light work out right after work, as well. This can be something as simple as a walk or bike ride after dinner. Doing this, you are going to eliminate your additional energy and sleep better.

Redecorate Your Bedroom

How can you sleep well when your bedroom is not a soothing  and restful environment? Professionals say that TVs or Laptops that produce light or create sounds can distract you from sleeping. Your bedroom should not have a TV, Radio or PC in order for you to have a silent sanctuary for healthy sleep. This also applies to your smartphone. Don’t use your phone in bed right before you sleep. The light that the phone emits can wake you up rather than put you to sleep.

Hydration is Essential

If you do not hydrate yourself enough during the day, it is possible that you will spontaneously wake from your sleep because you are thirsty. You need to drink water throughout the day. Starting in the morning when you wake up, down a full 8 ounces of water before you do anything else. This will start you on your way to having a healthy and hydrated day.

Continue this practice as often as you can throughout the day, stopping about an hour before bedtime. This should ensure that you’re hydrated as well as able to have a final bathroom visit before bed. Hopefully, you won’t wake after this due to thirst or a need to use the bathroom.

DealDash Asks: Are You Maximizing Your Workout?

DealDash workout

Most people try to work out and stay healthy. However, you might not be getting as much out of your workout as you should. Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash.

If you’re starting from couch potato you can’t expect to get to marathoner overnight. Even so, regularly working out can be very beneficial for both your physical and mental health.  For your body, it can help you lose weight, get stronger, reduce health problems, and boost energy. Mentally, it can significantly reduce stress. Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to make the most out of their workout, especially if they are a beginner. Let DealDash help.

Make a Schedule (And Stick to it)

You don’t (and shouldn’t) work out every single day, but you should definitely make a schedule. If you want to make the most out of your workouts you’ll want to plan them out. For instance, you might want to do your upper body on Mondays and Fridays, and your lower body on Wednesdays and Sundays. It doesn’t really matter how you split it up, just be sure to take a couple of days off per week. If you want to do some other type of light exercise that day such as walking or swimming, that’s great as well.

Don’t just jump right into your workout. Take some time at the beginning of your workout for warming up. Also, include some time at the end of your workout for cooling down. Your warm-up and cool-down are important so that you don’t accidentally injure the muscles in your body.

Now, Change Up That Schedule!

Yes, I know that I just advised above to make a workout schedule. The schedule is important, and it’s good for your body to stick to it. However, once your body has become accustomed to the schedule, it’s time to change it up. This doesn’t mean that your workout has to be longer or more strenuous – just different.

For example, if you normally jog on the treadmill for an hour on Mondays, then change that to using the rowing machine instead. Or if you normally lift weights on Thursdays, then take a boxing class instead. Changing your schedule every month or so can be very beneficial for your workout goals.

Keep a Workout Journal

A big reason that people don’t progress in their fitness is because they don’t keep track of it. If you get a notebook and jot down your workouts every time, their duration, how you feel, and your goals for the future, you’ll be ahead of the game. Your workout journal doesn’t have to be anything fancy – you can even just get a calendar with big squares to write in, and do it on there. It’s important that you can look back at your progress and see how far you’ve come – and look to the future and see where you want to go.

DealDash Exercise: Helping With Arthritis

dealdash exercise

Exercise is important for everyone, no matter what your age or agility. Light exercise can even help ease arthritis pain.

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints that typically affects older people. There are over 100 types of arthritis. Arthritis can affect one joint or multiple joints in your body. Scientists have found that light exercise can help ease arthritis symptoms and pain. When performed properly, light exercise can increase your range of motion, which will make your life more pleasant. Before starting any exercise plan be sure to consult your doctor.

Exercise at Home or the Gym

If your doctor suggests that you start your workout program off slowly, be sure to listen. You can start with a walk around the block a few times per day. This might sound like a very small start, but you can gradually work yourself up to longer and longer walks.

If you’d like to work out at the gym, perhaps swimming might be the right exercise for you. If you find swimming laps boring, then why not try an aqua aerobics class? The YMCA has them for all ages and skill levels.

If water aerobics isn’t your thing, there are also water walking classes, water Zumba, water yoga, aqua barre, and many others.

Physical Therapy

If your arthritis is extremely severe, you might want to consider working out with a physical therapist. Working out with a physical therapist is typically for a set number of visits, so be sure to take notes so you can replicate the exercises at home on your own.

Hopefully, your physical therapy appointments will be covered by insurance. This is another reason why you want to visit your doctor first so that they can write a prescription for physical therapy for you.

Gentle Stretches = Arthritis Relief

Before you attempt any exercise whatsoever be sure to do some gentle stretches. Doing your stretches before you exercise can help you avoid further injury and extra pain to your joints.

Start Slowly

Remember, it’s wise to start slowly with any new exercise plan. If you’re starting from zero, then it would be a good idea to begin with just a few times per week, and then work your way up to light exercise every day. Your health is important, be sure that you are also taking care of your body by drinking lots of water and getting a full 8 hours of sleep per night. This is the only body that you have, be sure to take care of it!

DealDash Looks At Bike Varieties

dealdash bikes

Riding a bike is something that’s fun, useful, and good for your body. There are different types of bikes for different activities. Read on to learn about them.

This might come as a surprise for you, but did you know that there are more than 30 types of bikes? These styles and varieties of bicycles are constantly changing in order to satisfy as many needs as possible. In this article, DealDash will take a look at the most common bikes and their uses.

City Bike

City bikes are the most widespread bikes in the world. They are made for urban use. These bikes offer a comfortable riding position and a simple design. Because of their city function, there are certain features that are necessary for this kind of bikes. These features are good illumination, a baggage rack on the back or a front basket for shopping. There are also some add-on features that aren’t necessary but very useful such as a bell, water bottle holder, and a cell phone holder.

Mountain Bike

Mountain bikes are meant to be used on rough roads or completely off-road. Their design is more compact because the bike needs to be handy and maneuverable in every condition. All mountain bikes will have a gear changer. This is unlike some city bikes, in order for the mountain bike to face even the most difficult hills. Mountain bikes, furthermore, can be divided into two categories. These categories are front suspended and full suspended. The difference in suspension lies in the type of the shock absorber that is needed.

Racing bike

A racing bike does what its name says- it races, fast. This is why it’s better for competitive use. The frame, made of carbon fibers, is lighter than the other types of bikes. The riding position is also very unbalanced towards the handlebars for faster movement. Thus, this is not a comfortable bike to just ride around on.

Cycle tourism bike

A cycle tourism bike is intended to ride for long distances, often with a large quantity of bags. There are two types to choose from, depending on the ground you are traveling on. The first type is made for street routes. The second type is for rough roads and hill climbing. The difference between the two is the size of the wheels and the robustness of the frame. These bikes are not as common in the USA as they are in other countries.

Hybrid bike

A hybrid bike is the combination of a racing bike because it has the same frame, and a cycle tourism bike thanks to the more relaxed riding position.  Now, hybrid bikes are becoming more and more popular.

Finally, if you’re in the market for a bike, then you’re in luck. DealDash has many different types and styles of bike up for auction. After reading this article you should have a much better idea of what type of bike you would like to win on DealDash.

DealDash: Take a Breath and Slow Down

DealDash

It’s a busy go-go-go world, time to take a deep breath and relax. Here are some ideas and tips from DealDash.

When’s the last time you left your phone off for a weekend and just relaxed and enjoyed the company of your friends and family? Years? Maybe it’s time to slow down, relax, and enjoy the company of those around you.

Turn Off the Devices

Try it! You can start small. One day per when you get home from work plug your phone into the charger and don’t pick it up again. Don’t open your laptop, don’t pick up your tablet, and just relax.

If you’d like to do this a couple of times per week that will go a long way to being more mindful and appreciative of the world around you. Of course, you wouldn’t want to do this all of the time, but a couple of times per week would be a great little technology break for you.

Get a Little Light Exercise

Usually, when you say “exercise” to a fairly sedentary couch potato they cringe. However, I’m not talking about running or weightlifting. When the weather gets a little nicer out (it’s coming soon!) take a half hour after work and go for a leisurely walk around your neighborhood or local park. If you’d prefer to do a family bike ride, that would be excellent as well. A little light exercise will do you a world of good and help you slow down a relax a bit.

Spend More Time With Friends

Spending time with your family is a wonderful thing and should be done often. Sometimes after people have children their friends get put aside a bit and the friendship never resumes again. Well, let’s try to put a stop to that right now.

If you have time during the week, try to meet up with a friend for drinks or coffee after work. You might arrive home to dinner a bit late and have to eat leftovers, but it will be worth it for your mental health. Having a drink and a nice conversation with a friend can help you slow down and breathe a little.

Simple Exercises to Ease Back Pain from DealDash

DealDash back pain

If you have frequent back pain you’ll want to read this article. Ease your back pain with these simple exercises from DealDash.

Did you know that stretching can help you avoid surgery? There are 30 million Americans who suffer from lower back pain, and only about 10% of them need surgery. If you don’t have a slipped disk or pinched nerves, then you most likely have inflamed or tight muscles.

This might surprise you, but the inflammation is not there because of strain on the back muscle. The inflammation is more likely to come from a strain or injury to the spine, affecting one of the five “motion segments.”

The segments are made to bend forward and back or side to side, and they consist of a disk, two vertebrae and the joints that connect the vertebrae to the disk.

These segments’ disk can be damaged in many ways like lifting something the wrong way, twisting too far, sitting for an extended period or even sneezing too hard. These actions commonly cause the surrounding muscles to contract, protecting the spine from injuries.

What to Do When Back Pain Strikes

Back pain that was caused by inflammation can subside on its own after three to six weeks. However, the healing process can begin faster if you decide to take ibuprofen (Motrin) for a few days after injury; this will help to reduce inflammation. You can also get massage therapy that will increase the healing blood flow to the loosen knotted muscles.

Ready for Exercises to Help Your Back?

Hamstring wall stretch

To start this exercise, you have to lie face-up on a folded blanket (or a carpeted floor), while you position your body perpendicular inside a doorframe. Move your right leg and place it through the door opening. Move your buttocks closer to the wall and bring the heel of your left foot up against the wall and make it straight. Next, slide your right leg up on the floor until it’s straight. You will feel a stretch in the back of your left leg. Hold it like this for 30 seconds and repeat twice on each side.

Knees to chest stretch

Get on your back with your feet flat on the floor and bend your knees. Pull your right knee to your chest using your hands. After this, try to straighten the left leg on the floor. Keep your right knee stuck to your chest and continue to stretch for 20 seconds while switching sides; repeat. When you are done with this, do the stretch as you hold both knees to your chest for about ten seconds.

Spinal stretch

Lie on the floor, extend your left leg straight and then pull your right knee to your chest, just like in the Knees to Chest Stretch exercise. After you are done with this, put your right arm out to the side. Use your left hand and slowly pull your right knee to your left side but make sure that your right foot rests on the back of your left knee. After all of this, move your head toward your right side and hold it like that for 20 seconds. Reverse the movements and repeat.

DealDash – Exercise Even If It’s A Chore

dealdash exercise

Exercise is so good for you, yet can be tiring and time-consuming. Here are some ideas from DealDash to help.

Every magazine, blogger, and celebrity advice guru goes on about the importance of exercise – understandably so, since staying active has so many benefits in terms of physical and mental health.  However, it can be hard to make time to go to the gym for a full workout. Also, life as a parent, grandparent, or even pet parent can be tiring enough that just the thought of working out is exhausting.  Here are some tips from DealDash for ways to stay active that won’t overwhelm you after a busy day and can be adapted to fit any schedule:

  • Use internet resources.  If you find you can’t squeeze in a trip to the gym, check out some instructional workout videos on Youtube.  There are lots of videos of various lengths and intensities, many of which do not require any equipment.  Make sure to search using keywords like “gentle,” “cardio,” “15 minute,” or whatever you prefer. If you’re into a more high-intensity workout, you can find that as well.
  • Try some yoga.  It’s a great way to combine exercise with peace and solitude, so if you get a little time to yourself yoga can kill two birds with one stone.  And many yoga poses are harder work than they look – there may not be any running or heavy lifting but there’s a lot of muscle work and you can certainly work up a sweat!  Try a class or look online for some poses for beginners. If you can’t make time for a regular yoga session, try computer yoga!
  • Walk (or run!) the dog.  Family dog need a walk?  Knock two things off the to-do list at once and get sweating while you take the dog out.  To some extent this depends on the animal, but many dogs are happy to jog or run with you rather than walking; some even prefer it! If you don’t have a dog but would like a furry running companion why not get a side-gig as a dog walker and make a little extra cash?

Exercise as a Family

  • Get the kids involved.  Don’t have any time to yourself to work out?  Find an activity for the whole family that’ll serve as a form of exercise as well.  Maybe the kids want to play tag or kick a ball around or go to the pool, or maybe you can get everyone together for a family hike.  Exercising with your kids encourages healthy habits and can be fun for everyone.
  • Walk when you can.  It’s a simple thing, but walking short distances instead of driving can make a big difference, and you don’t even need to change your plans aside from leaving a few minutes earlier.  It’s environmentally friendly, as well!

No one is perfect, and you shouldn’t expect yourself to work out all the time. Luckily, any movement helps when it comes to staying fit and being a good example for your family.

DealDash Does Computer Yoga

DealDash computer yoga

Computer yoga is the newest rage for people who are short on time but need to get a workout in. Read on for some tips and tricks from DealDash.

If you’re sitting at your computer right now, I bet your neck muscles and upper back are a little tight and sore. Did you know that you can fix that right from your computer chair? That’s right, there’s no need to go to the gym or even leave the office to do computer yoga. Let DealDash explain computer yoga to you.

Why Do Computer Yoga

Computer yoga is an excellent solution for people who would like to do yoga but simply don’t have the time. Computer yoga is also great for people who are extremely out of shape and need to take things slowly and carefully during yoga. There is a class at the YMCA called “Gentle Yoga,” but this is even more gentle than that!

When Should you Do Computer Yoga?

You should do computer yoga when your muscles are feeling tight from sitting and staring at your computer screen for too long. Take a little break. Do this computer yoga exercise whenever you can. It’s very easy, and you’ll be relaxed in just a few minutes. Computer yoga will help to take away some of the tension felt in your body, especially in the neck and upper back area. It will calm your mind through meditation and self-questioning. Computer yoga is the office worker’s and writer’s answer to remaining positive through the day; ideally, practicing computer yoga daily will help you to remain positive throughout your daily routine.

It will calm also your mind, not unlike meditation. Computer yoga can help you relax and feel relaxed and positive throughout your day. If you are able to maintain a regular schedule of computer yoga, your body and mind will thank you. Here are some simple computer yoga exercises that you can do at your desk.

Try These Computer Yoga Exercises

  • Turn your head left and right slowly 10 times. Next, forward and backward 10 times. This will loosen up your neck muscles.
  • Move your shoulders up and down, trying to bring them to your ears. Do this 10 times. Find the way that works best for you. Next, roll them forward for 10 repetitions, and then roll them backward for 10 repetitions. This will loosen up your shoulder muscles.
  • First, inhale and lift your arms; clasp your hands and invert your palms. Lean to your left. Hold for 5 breaths, then switch sides.
  • Then, turn to your left. Use your left hand on the back of the chair to deepen the twist. Hold for 5 breaths, then twist to the other side.
  • Finally, sit at the edge of your chair, press your hands down on either side of your hips and raise your legs and bottom up off the seat. Tense your deep abdominal muscles and try to keep the tops of your shoulders down; hold for 3 breaths. Lower and repeat 2 more times.

You’re done! Try to find the time to do these simple exercises every day to keep your blood flowing and your mind focused.

DealDash Helps You Eat Low Carb

DealDash Low Carb

Dieting is hard, there are so many different varieties that you can try. Let DealDash show you Low Carb.

Low carb, of course, means low carbohydrate. You might be extremely surprised to find out how many carbs are in the food that you’re eating. Starting on a low-carb diet may seem like an impossibly complicated task, and there are very few foods that are almost completely low carb, such as meats, cheeses, and eggs. However, if you are determined to forge ahead into a low carb lifestyle, here are some tips and suggestions from DealDash.

Why Low Carb?

If you are completely unfamiliar with the concept of eating a low carb diet, you might not even know why limiting carbohydrates can help you lose weight. When you eat carbohydrates, they are converted into simple sugars. They known as glucose in your bloodstream, and are your main fuel source. Low-carb dieting is based on the premise that without enough carbs available as fuel, your body will burn its fat stores to keep you moving.

What’s Average?

Typical American dietary guidelines recommend between 225-325 grams of carbs per day. When someone tries to eat a low carb diet, they usually aim for approximately 100 carbs per day. It’s very easy to eat excessive amounts of carbs without even realizing it, so be as strict as possible when calculating your daily carb intake.

There are even carbs in fruits and vegetables! Most of the carbs present in vegetables are negligible, though. However, if you are attempting a low carb diet it’s wise to avoid starchy vegetables such as potatoes and corn. Review what you’re eating on a daily basis. You will see where you might be able to cut out some carbs.

Drink Lots of Water

Eating a low carb diet can be difficult, but not impossible. One of the easiest things to do to get yourself started on reducing your carbs is to completely cut out all drinks except water. The more water you drink the better, it will help fill you up as well as flush out the toxins in your body. Aim for an absolute minimum of 64 ounces per day, but double that would be even better.

DealDash’s New Year List

screenshot-10

There are only a few short weeks left in the year. Here are 5 things you need to do before 2017 arrives.

How was your 2016? Mine was eventful – I had a baby boy, my daughter started school, my older son has been diagnosed with ADHD, it’s been a busy year! However, even though life has been busy, there are still a few things that need to be done before we say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017. Join me in doing DealDash’s 5 things before the new year.

1 – Organize your family’s closets. Dig out all of those too small, too tight, or too big clothing, those worn shoes, and those clothing gifts that you have never even worn. Donate them all and be proud of yourself for cleaning your house and helping others at the same time. Don’t forget to ask for a receipt at the donation drop-off, you can use that as a charitable donation on your taxes in April.Organize your “online life.” If you’re like many people, you probably have hundreds or even thousands of pictures cluttering up your online cloud, your computer, or your cell phone. Seriously, do you really need 126 pictures of your meals at different restaurants? Sure, they’re fun to post onto Instagram or Facebook when you’re actually at the restaurant so your friends can see what you’re doing, but once you’ve posted it why bother keeping the photo?

2 – Organize your “online life.” If you’re like many people, you probably have hundreds or even thousands of pictures cluttering up your online cloud, your computer, or your cell phone. Seriously, do you really need 126 pictures of your meals at different restaurants? Sure, they’re fun to post onto Instagram or Facebook when you’re actually at the restaurant so your friends can see what you’re doing, but once you’ve posted it why bother keeping the photo? And those of you with little kids that are hard to photograph – I know that you take about 20 blurry pictures to get 1 good one! Get rid of those blurry pictures that are cluttering up your cloud.

3 – Think of a few goals for 2017. They don’t need to be your typical resolution-type goals such as exercising or cutting back on drinking. They could be things that are more fun and personal to you such as making sure that you reach out to far-away friends once a month, or to learn to knit or to be a better driver. There are lots of things that you probably want to do a little differently next year, so make a list.

4 – Get a free credit report. Make sure that everything on your credit report is accurate and up to date. There are many free credit report websites and apps available, do your due diligence and read reviews on the companies before you request your report. You’ll be glad that you got your report and cleared up any mistakes so you can go forward into 2017 without worrying about it!

5 – Bid on DealDash. Do you have a bunch of bids hanging out on your account that you haven’t used yet? Bid on some great items and gift cards and clear them out for the new year so you can start fresh.

DealDash and Running Accessories

Image result for runner

There are many new, fun, and exciting running accessories out on the market recently. Let’s take a look at them, and see if they are things that you need in your life.

One of the great things about having running as your hobby is that you don’t need any special equipment other than a good pair of shoes. However, there are a lot of new and fun items on the market that you can try out and see if they improve your running sessions. Now remember, you don’t need these items, but they can make you life a little more fun.

LED armband or shoe lights – LED armband or shoe lights are excellent accessories to use if you ever run at night. If you primarily like to run in the morning or early afternoon you probably don’t need these, but now that it’s getting darker earlier and earlier due to it being fall now, you might need these LED armband or shoe lights if you plan on running in the late afternoon, evening, or after dinner. These aren’t powerful enough lights for you to see by, they are so cars can see you. Stay safe, get yourself some LED armband or shoe lights.

Bluetooth knitted hat – Now this is really something new, exciting, and different. On the surface it looks like any regular knitted hat that you can get at any big box store for $5, but inside are bluetooth speakers so that you can wear the hat while you run and be able to listen to your music without headphones. It’s really quite a novel invention, and extremely useful in the upcoming chilly months. This is definitely a seasonal product, though, to be used from now until spring.

Running belt – Of course running belts themselves aren’t a new concept, but I am referring to the new generation of running belt that is designed to fit the newer, bigger generation of smartphones. These running belts have generous inside compartments, pass-through sections for your headphones wires, and some of them even come equipped with LED lights so cars can see you easily.

I hope that you found this article helpful. If you’re a runner, DealDash has some great auctions on running accessories and equipment that you should check out. DealDash has it all, just click on this link right here and you can see how much you can save. Good luck and happy bidding, everyone!

DealDash Reminds You to Relax

Image result for relax

In today’s world everyone is so busy. DealDash wants to remind you to take a moment to relax. Here are some tips.

Today we are all so busy – between work, kids, housework, hobbies & clubs, yard work, and more. Some days it seems like I am up with the sun, go-go-going constantly, and when the kids finally go to bed I am tired enough to pass out on my feet. And I only work part-time, I can’t even imagine how busy and tired other people might be. That’s why it’s important to try to take some time every day to just relax, do a little something for yourself, and just enjoy a moment that’s all about you.

As a mom of 3 kids – one a baby, one a pre-schooler, and one an 8-year-old with ADHD I realize how difficult it is to try to find some time for yourself. It is possible though, especially if you are able to get to your “happy place” in 30 minutes or less! Here are a few ideas to get relaxed in a hurry.

  • Meditation – Meditation can not only help you relax, it can also help improve your health, memory, and concentration. Meditation can be done anytime, anywhere, and needs no fancy supplies or equipment.
  • Walking – Walking is an awesome investment in your health. It can shed pounds, inches, and worry from your body. Taking a short walk in the evening after dinner can help your digestion, and clear your mind. As with meditation, it takes no special equipment and as much or as little time as you have available.
  • Bath – A nice hot bath can help you relax as well as make you smell great. A bath takes a little bit more time than meditation or a walk, but it’s still a fairly quick activity that can help you relax in a major way.
  • Massage – This is the most time-consuming and costly activities on this list, but it’s the best one, in my opinion! A massage is 60 or 90 minutes of pure bliss, I always feel the most relaxed after a massage.

Getting a massage with a massage artist can be costly, but you can always save some time and money by getting a massage chair or foot massager. DealDash has both massage chair and foot massagers available for auction. DealDash always has the best products! Just click right here, and see how much you can save. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Helps: Soothe Those Muscles

Image result for soothe muscles

Here on the blog we often talk about the importance of exercise to be healthy. However, sometimes your muscles can really hurt afterwards. Let’s see what DealDash can do to help.

Exercising is definitely a huge part of being healthy, but if you’re a little out of shape like most of us, the day after a hard exercise can feel a little rough on your muscles. There are quite a few different ways to help soothe your aching muscles, here are a few different ways that you can help yourself feel better.

Surprisingly, a little bit of light stretching and exercise can help soothe your sore muscles the next day. The trick is to get increased blood flow to the area, that will make you feel better. This is because research has shown that increased blood flow speeds delivery of nutrients to damaged muscles, which in turn makes your muscles feel better faster than not doing anything to help yourself.

Most people are familiar with heat therapy. Warm temperatures such as those from warm water of a heating pad can increase the blood flow to sore muscles and make you feel a lot better very quickly. Soak in a hot bath, or even better a hot tub. If the pain is more isolated to a particular area, then apply heat directly to the spot that’s giving you trouble. There are many affordable peel-and-stick heating pads available at your local pharmacy. They are great because they can stay in place for hours and are thin enough to wear under clothing with no one being the wiser to your toasty secret.

Lastly, hand-held massagers are great, and massage chairs are even better! Massage chairs were introduced to the consumer market in the late 1980’s. They are designed to imitate the motions and techniques of an actual massage artist, and the massage chair is designed to relieve stress, tension, and alleviate back pain. I absolutely love massage chairs, and I am quite pleased that DealDash now offers different types of hand-held massagers and massage chairs.

Simply click this link right here. You will be taken to DealDash, where you can browse all of the great products, including massage chairs. Visit DealDash and see how much you can save. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Helps: Ease Anxiety

Are you one of the over 40 million Americans that have anxiety? Here are a few tips to help get a little relief.

Approximately 10% of Americans have an anxiety disorder. Luckily there are a few things that you can do to help yourself feel a little better. If none of these suggestions work for you then you should probably visit a doctor so you can get some help.

The most popular thing to ease anxiety is exercise! Luckily it doesn’t have to be strenuous, even just a brisk walk around the neighborhood or (even better) in a park or on a wooded trail can make your anxiety melt away. If you aim for about 30 minutes of exercise per day then you can not only feel less anxious but get more fit as an added bonus.

Another great way to ease anxiety is to spend some time cuddling your cat or dog. Just spending a few minutes petting an animal can make you feel much better. If you aren’t permitted to have pets where you live then an easy and cheap solution is a betta fish. You can get a betta fish, its habitat, and some food for less than $20 at your local pet store. Watching a fish swim can be very relaxing. No pets? No problem! You can spend time at your local animal rescue/Humane Society volunteering a few hours per week. This is a win-win situation for both you and the animals that you are helping.

You can also ease anxiety by reading a book. Some people might be able to use a textbook or a non-fiction book to relax, but personally I love to read a good novel to escape the world. Try to find something lighthearted and engaging for the best anxiety relieving benefits.

Lastly, another wonderful way to ease anxiety is coloring. Adult coloring books have become quite trendy as of late, you can get them anywhere from your local big box store, a bookstore, or even the craft store. You can color by yourself, or if you have kids or grandkids you can all color together. It’s a great way to ease your anxiety and spend some quality time with your family as well.

I hope that this article has helped you try to think of some ways to ease your anxiety, which will help you feel much better in your daily life. Another great way for me to ease my anxiety is to bid on DealDash! DealDash has hundreds of awesome items up for bid every day, go take a peek and see how much you can save. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

A Little More Fit with DealDash

No more excuses! No matter if you’re older, overweight, or have zero free time it’s time to get a little more fit. You don’t need a lot of equipment or money to get started. Let’s make a plan…

The very first thing that you are going to need to do before you start your new fitness program is to visit your primary care doctor and get a check-up. While you are there making sure that you are healthy enough to start an exercise program you can also talk to your doctor about setting reasonable fitness goals for yourself. Not everyone’s goal needs to lose enough weight to be able to fit into a size 2. Your personal fitness goals might be to gain strength or just to be able to walk a mile without resting. Talk to your doctor and see what he or she recommends for you.

After you have seen your doctor it’s time to figure out how to achieve your personal fitness goals. Here are a few tips for just about anyone no matter what your fitness goals are:

  • Drink more water. The rule of thumb is 8 ounces of water 8 times per day. It’s called the 8X8 rule, and it’s easy to remember. However, if you would prefer a personalized water consumption guide I have also read that if you take your weight and divide it by 2 that is the correct number of ounces of water per day that you should be drinking. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds you should be drinking 160/2=80 ounces of water per day.
  • Take a walk. It doesn’t have to be a long, fast, or strenuous walk. An idle walk around the neighborhood with your dog, child, grandchild, spouse, or by yourself can only help your fitness levels improve. If you strive to take even a short walk every night after dinner you will improve your fitness level faster than you might think.
  • Stop eating fried food (at least at home). Toss out your unhealthy oils at home and stock up on olive oil and avocado oil. Saute your foods in an oil substitute spray like PAM. If you must eat fried food keep it to when you go out to dinner on a weekend.

If you would like to add some exercise on an exercise machine such as a treadmill, elliptical, recumbent exercise bike, or weights be sure to check out DealDash. DealDash has some awesome exercise equipment up for auction. I personally won a rowing machine and absolutely love it. If you’d like to check out the exercise machines on DealDash just click right here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Helps: Effortless Health

Most people want to be healthy but few have the time and energy to devote a lot of time to improvement. You can make minor everyday changes that make a big difference in your health.

There are so many small things that you can do daily to make a big difference over time in your overall health. If you do many small things per day they can add up to big health benefits. Here are a few examples of small things that you can do daily that will improve your overall health without a lot of extra time or effort spent.

One of the most common things that you can do to improve your health without too much effort is to park in a spot as far away from the door as possible when you go shopping. For someone like myself that can add up to big benefits because as a Stay At Home Mom I go shopping almost every day. Not only do I get the benefits of the further walk, but I also get additional health benefits from having to carry my 15 pound infant son in his “baby bucket”. It’s cardio without having to drive to the gym!

Another small thing that you can do for your health is to replace your fat and calorie laden desserts with a healthier option such as fruit, low-fat yogurt, or even a popsicle. This change can make a dramatic difference in your weight if you normally eat cake, ice cream, or cookies every night for dessert. By cutting these things out and replacing them with a healthier option you can easily shave off 200-300 calories per day which will eventually turn into pounds lost over the next few months.

The last tip that I am going to suggest is extremely easy and very effective – drink more water! It takes zero effort on your part to swap out soda, juice, and other beverages for water and you will reap huge health benefits. Water is essential for your body to function, and you will feel much better once you are not in a constant low-level state of dehydration. In addition to the health benefits drinking more water can also benefit your wallet. If you have a water filter on your fridge or a Brita pitcher then your water will cost you less than 5 cents per cup, which is a huge improvement over $1+ for a bottle of soda.

DealDash Avoids Damaging Exercise

Everyone talks about how healthy exercise is for your body. However, did you know that there are some exercises that can damage and age your body prematurely?

When someone says “exercise” you probably picture someone in the gym in excellent health, as fit as can be, and enjoying the activity. This is only one side of the coin, though, because believe it or not exercise can harm your body and age you prematurely if you aren’t careful and aware how you are treating your body.

For example, if your favorite workout includes exercises that put a lot of strain on your shoulders such as overhead presses with free weights you might want to limit them or do alternate exercises as you age, because rotator cuff injuries, torn tendons, and other shoulder injuries become much more commonplace. Alternately, you might want to try a lower weight but more reps. This will still give you a great workout but reduce the chance of a shoulder injury.

Another workout that you might want to limit is HIIT (High-intensity interval training), even though it can provide you an awesome workout it can put a lot of strain and wear on your body. If you insist on doing HIIT, then try to limit it to only a couple of times per week with a few days in between sessions to let your body heal itself.

Speaking of putting a lot of strain and wear on your body, exercising strenuously every day can be counter-intuitive, because before long you will most likely suffer an injury and have to wait days or weeks for it to heal. It’s wonderful to want to move your body every day, try alternating cardio, weight training, and something as simple and easy as walking or riding your bike every day.

If you are looking for some new exercise equipment for your home so you can skip driving to the gym every day check out DealDash. DealDash offers auctions on a large variety of work out and sports equipment such as treadmills and exercise bikes, but they also have golfing equipment, tennis equipment, and more. Just check out the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category and see how much you can save! Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

Summer Exercising with DealDash

The summer is a great time to start your new exercise program. The weather is beautiful, let’s go outside with DealDash!

If you live in most parts of the US then you are used to cold, windy, snowy winters. Now that it’s beginning to feel like summer it’s a great time to get in some exercise while the weather is nice. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Swimming – Most people love to swim, and it’s a very good low-impact workout. Even if you are elderly or have trouble walking most people are still able to swim, float, or do water aerobics in the water without any extra pain. If you are in good shape anyway then a nice swim can be your reward after a vigorous work out. Swimming is also a wonderful way to get your whole family involved in exercise. If you have any smaller kids that aren’t able to swim yet, then that’s a bonus for your workout, since you will have to carry, push, and pull them around the pool.

Swim N' Play 15ft x 36in Above Ground Pool with Port Hole

Jogging/Running – Jogging and running are excellent ways to burn calories and get toned. If you love to jog or run but have been snowed in all winter then now is the time to tie up those sneakers and get outside! Please remember, though, it’s best to run in either the early morning or evening when it’s cooler outside. Sun stroke is no joke! Be sure to drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Walking – If you’re not up to jogging or running how about taking a nice long walk instead? Walking is awesome for your cardiovascular health, it’s low-impact, you get to take in the sights and sounds of nature, and it can be a lot of fun if you have someone to go with you. If you have a partner to walk with it makes the time go by much quicker and you will be able to walk much further than you would on your own. Alternately, if you can’t find a human walking companion, how about adopting, fostering, or borrowing a dog to walk with?

I hope that this article has inspired you to get out and get moving in this wonderful summer weather. If you need any sports equipment or exercise equipment DealDash has it all! Just click on this link here and it will take you to the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category on DealDash.

When Should You Exercise?

This is a popular question we get at DealDash from those getting ready to start exercising regularly, “When is the very best time to exercise, during the early morning, twelve noon, or evening?”.

exercise

It’s certain, there may be refined differences between the numerous times to exercise throughout the day however, there is something even more crucial to consider. It is vital you take this thought to heart. The most effective time to exercise is whenever YOU will have the ability to exercise for a constant duration.

Consistency is key when it involves exercising, equally as it is for consuming healthy and balanced. Consider that for a moment. What good will it do you to eat eventually of healthy meals, which you can cook with items from DealDash. And also the other six days of the week consume greasy, fattening foods? As you could envision, eating in this fashion will do your body system no good, all due to the absence of uniformity.

Same thing chooses exercising. You intend to establish consistency however that finest works for you. If your objective is to exercise 4 times a week, first and foremost exactly what time of the day will you have the ability to stick with that goal most the moment? Second, make sure you have some equipment like the kind you can win on DealDash.

“The most effective time of the day is when you will do it most constantly, due to the fact that the advantages of exercise are tightly linked to the quantity you do on a regular basis,” states Russell Crown, M.D., teacher of workout scientific research in the Arnold College of Public Health at the College of South Carolina.

Certain you may believe that awakening at 5am would certainly be a good time to exercise and also you heard that a morning workout kick starts the metabolic process right into gear, however will you have the ability to stick with that strategy continually day in, and day out? One of the biggest things we’ve learned here at DealDash, is it’s best to make it easy for you to exercise. Are you a morning individual that has no trouble waking up earlier than common as well as determined sufficient to begin running and also sweating? If this fits your character and way of life, after that of course go for it.

Yet if you know that it would be a day-to-day struggle to drag yourself from bed, placed on your exercise clothes, and also begin doing whichever exercises you have actually intended, after that more than likely a morning workout is except you. “Are there distinctions in working out at different times of the day? Perhaps. Yet those differences would be small compared with the total result of doing it regularly,” Crown stated.

“If you’re not an early morning person, it does no good for you to try to wake at 5 in the morning to exercise,” he said. “Aim to pile all the cards on your side of the table as feasible by doing what’s most likely to benefit you.” And if you need an alarm, you can go to DealDash now and pick one of those up too.

exercise

This is specifically sensible as you begin getting made use of to the new rise in routine workouts. As your regular comes to be a solid practice and you are no more having problem with the plain thought of working out, then it is safer to make changes to your timetable.
