DealDash

Chances are, you or someone in your household made a fitness resolution this year.  Here are some helpful hints from DealDash to help you on your fitness journey.

It is the New Year and everyone is trying to make New Year’s resolutions. One of the best New Year’s resolutions to make is to work on your fitness. If you have always wanted to get in shape, now is the perfect time to work on your physical health. It is hard to stick to a fitness routine. Here are some tips to help you stick to your fitness New Year’s resolution, from DealDash.

Create a Plan

Before you begin your exercise program you should create a plan for your exercise schedule. Identify how many times a week that you are going to exercise, and write it on a calendar. Then you should figure out what type of exercises that you are going to do. There are various exercises that you can choose from such as walking and running. Creating a plan will help you out in the long run.

Take Your Time

Make sure that you take it easy when it comes to fitness. One of the reasons people don’t stick to their fitness plan is because they don’t start slow. Try walking just 15 minutes a day or go for a short jog. Starting slowly with your fitness goals will help you stick to it.

Be Realistic

When you don’t set realistic goals, it is hard to stick to your New Year’s resolutions. Setting goals is great, but you have to make sure that they are obtainable. Think about people that build houses – they start slowly to get the job done. Being realistic about your goals will help you achieve your fitness New Year’s Resolution.

Save on Fitness Supplies With DealDash

When you have mastered walking for 15-30 minutes per day, you can add in more exercise. Some of the best gentle exercises is using a stationary bike. DealDash has them! DealDash Resolutions: Be Happier in 2019

DealDash

People have all sorts of resolutions for the new year, from fitness to financial. But a great resolution to make is to be happier in 2019. Here are some ideas from DealDash to get you started.

2019 is here, and you might have made a few resolutions already, from losing 10 pounds to doing better at work. Well, DealDash is here to say that there is a perfect resolution to make, and it’s not too late. You have more than 11 months to make 2019 your best and happiest year yet. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Say “No” More Often

As the mom of 3 kids, I have learned that it’s okay to say “No” sometimes. It’s fine to say that you aren’t able to watch extra kids after school. Also, it’s fine to say “No” to volunteering for every event that your child’s school has. Finally, it’s fine to say “No” to buying cookies, pies, candy bars, and wallpaper from every child that comes to your door. As someone who does her fair share of volunteering with Girl Scouts and the elementary school, I know how it feels to get tired of saying “Yes” to everything. Try saying “No” to things occasionally this year, and I bet you will feel happier!

Try Fun New Hobbies

2019 can be a great year if you can find a fun new hobby to participate in. It doesn’t have to be anything wild or “out there” like parasailing or skydiving, just something that you aren’t currently doing. Have you seen all of the new board games and card games that are directed towards teens and adults? If you aren’t playing some of these new games, you are missing out on some fun.

Have you taken a look at the puzzle aisle lately? It’s not all landscapes and pictures of buildings anymore. When I went on vacation my cousins, who are in their early 20’s, were doing puzzles. I teased them for a bit, but when I actually took a look at the puzzles they had, I changed my tune. No matter what you’re interested in, there is probably a puzzle to represent it. I just completed a puzzle of a craft room full of cats!

Pick Up a New Sport

You will find fun and happiness in 2019 if you find a sport that you love. Many people don’t play sports because they aren’t in the best physical shape. However, there are lots of sports that you don’t have to be in tip-top physical condition to participate. Try golfing at the driving range, frisbee, or even a kickball game with friends!

Get Hobby and Sports Supplies from DealDash

You don’t have to spend too much money on your new hobby or sport. Getting hobby or sports supplies on DealDash is the best way to save money and maximize your happiness in 2019. Check out the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category for all of your hobby and sporting needs. If you don’t see what you need you can always pick up a gift card from DealDash to buy what you need at your favorite store. DealDash Health: Stick to Your Healthy Eating Resolution

DealDash

A resolution to eat healthier this year is a great idea. Here are some tips from DealDash to stick to your healthy eating resolution.

New Years is approaching quickly, and now is the perfect time to make some changes in your life. There are many New Year’s resolutions that people come up with every year. One of the most popular resolutions is eating healthier. Sticking to a New Year’s resolution can be a bit of a challenge especially when it comes to your diet. Here are some tips to stick to your healthy eating goal for the new year, from DealDash.

Cut Back on Sugar

Cutting back on sugar can be hard because many people are addicted to sugar. Normally we eat 22 teaspoons of added sugar each day! Can you believe that?! Why not start out the New Year’s with a healthier relationship with sugar? Luckily, you can still make tasty foods without sugar. There is plenty of sugar-free stuff you can eat such as sugar-free candy, jello, or cake. The best thing to do is to slowly wean yourself off of sugar. Going “cold turkey” can make this resolution much more difficult, so weaning yourself off of added sugar over the next few weeks will make it easier.

Eat More Vegetables (With Help From DealDash)

Vegetables are not always the most appetizing food.  It is good to have a lot of vegetables in your diet for fiber, though. You can incorporate vegetables into your diet in many ways. The best way to add vegetables into your diet is in a casserole or a pasta sauce. You are adding delicious ingredients that will help soften the taste of vegetables. Roasting vegetables such as cauliflower with a little salt will also give you some flavor.

Using a food processor to liquify vegetables is a great way to sneak in some extra veggies every day. When I make pasta sauce, meatloaf, lasagna, or soup, I always liquify some zucchini squash and mushrooms and stir it into the mixtures that I make. The kids never realize the difference, and I can’t, either!

If you don’t have a food processor you can get one from DealDash. DealDash has all sorts of small appliances for the kitchen up for auction. You can find blenders, stand mixers, and food processors up for bid on DealDash. Just check the Kitchen and Dining category to find all of these items. Just click here.

Stick to an Eating Schedule

When you have an eating schedule it will be easier to stay on track with your healthy eating plan. It is best to have 5 to 6 small meals throughout the day. There are also other ways to stick to your eating plan such as intermittent fasting which puts you on a set eating schedule. Writing down your eating schedule will be the best way to stay on a healthy diet.

Happy New Year From DealDash!

dealdash

Happy New Year 2019 everyone! How are you going to make this a great new year? Here are some ideas from DealDash.

Every new year is time to get a fresh start! Even if your 2018 was great, things can always be better. You can make very small changes to keep your home and family in tip-top condition for 2019. Keep your new year running smoothly with these tips and tricks.

Get a Planner – and Use it!

Almost everyone has a smartphone nowadays, and they always have calendars. However, having a paper planner can make your life easier, and they are really fun to fill out and decorate. Personally, I like having a paper planner so that each person in my household can see what we have going on in the upcoming weeks.

Of course, you can use an online calendar to do the same thing, but having a paper planner out where everyone can see it makes things run more smoothly. Also, there are lots of minor things that you can write in your planner that you might not want to bother putting into your phone’s calendar.

Get Organized With DealDash

Next, having your home neat and organized can definitely make a huge improvement in your quality of life. One of the hard things about getting organized is if you don’t have a place to put everything. Happily, DealDash can help you out with this problem. You can get bookshelves, storage bins, benches with storage, cabinets for storage, and more on DealDash. Just check the Home, Garden, and Tools category on DealDash for all of these items and more. Just click here to check them out. Getting organized doesn’t have to be difficult as long as you have enough storage to keep everything in its place.

Schedule in Some “Me Time” This Year

Finally, remember earlier when I advised you to get a paper planner? Well, be sure to schedule in some “me time” when you are filling the pages with birthdays and appointments. As a mom of three young kids, two cats, and a husband who works 60 hours per week – I don’t get nearly enough me time! However, when I can, I make it a point to schedule myself in some time to see a movie or get a mani-pedi every couple of months. If you plan your me time in advance it’s much easier to make it happen!

If you can schedule yourself in some me time, then you should be prepared and know what you would like to do. I suggest taking yourself to the movies, going to a restaurant, or getting a good book. DealDash can help you get all of these things with gift cards! If you visit the gift cards category on DealDash you will find AMC Theaters, Barnes and Noble, and an assortment of restaurants to choose from. Just click here to choose a gift card.

Remember, if you bid on a gift card but you don’t win, you can always pay the face value of the gift card and receive all of your bids back from DealDash. This is called doing a Buy It Now (BIN) and is a very popular option on DealDash.

You can simply click this link right here and check out the luggage that DealDash offers up for auction. In addition to the luggage, DealDash also offers gift cards to stores that carry luggage and bags. You can win or BIN (Buy It Now) a gift card to Kohl’s, Target, or Wal-Mart and choose from their selection of luggage as well. Just click here to see all of the amazing gift card options.

Traveling with Presents

If you can avoid packing the gifts it is a good idea to ship them. Gifts can take up space and make security checks become longer. It is important to ship them a few weeks ahead, so they will be there by the time you arrive. If you have to pack the Christmas presents, make sure you pack them well with bubble wrap to prevent damage. It is also important to save the wrapping for when you arrive. Otherwise, your gift wrapping job will likely be damaged while in transit.

Setting Up a Guest Room, DealDash Style

DealDash

A guest bedroom is a good thing to have during the holidays. If you will be having some visitors this year you will want to read this article from DealDash on setting up a guest bedroom.

We all have our bedroom in our home, and many of us have kid’s bedrooms, offices, and craft rooms. However, a very important room to have in your home is the guest bedroom. If you don’t have an extra room in your home, no problem. If you have an office, craft room, playroom, or similar you can easily turn part of it into a guest bedroom. Read on for some tips and ideas from DealDash to setting up a guest bedroom in your home.

Setting Up a Single Guest Room

If you are fortunate enough to have an extra room in your home to set up a guest bedroom then you will be able to style and decorate it any way you like. Preferably a visitor bedroom will have a great all-natural illumination and ventilation. Big windows to see the outside, and get the sun in the morning is a great benefit. You will also want to purchase high-quality furnishings that are comfortable and pleasant to look at.

Get High-Quality Furnishings from DealDash

If you need to furnish your guest bedroom, then you will want to see the great selection of luxury furniture on DealDash. If you visit the Home, Garden, and Tools category you will find some amazing pieces that are just right for your new guest room. You will find chairs, side tables, bedding, and more. Just click here to see the great selection. You will find beautiful furnishings for your guest room.

Decorate Tastefully and Neutrally

When decorating a guest bedroom you will want to choose neutral decorations. This is so your 80-year-old grandma will feel just as comfortable in the room as your 25-year-old little sister. Use neutrals such as brown and gray with a few pops of color here and there to liven things up a little. Be sure to put the finishing touches on your guest room with a painting or other piece of art. Just click here to see the art home decor that is available on DealDash.

Combining a Guest Room with Another Room

When you are adding a guest room to another established room it can be a little tricky. If you will be using a sewing room or office as a guest room then usually the best course of action is to add a pull-out couch into the room along with another piece of furniture that can store clothing such as a shelf with bins.

If you are simply adding an extra bed into another bedroom then you might want to consider having a set of twin beds in the room as well as an air mattress in the closet to pull out in case of extra visitors. In this case, you might want to add another small dresser into the room or perhaps a side table with drawers for guests to store their items.

Thanks for Reading

Setting up a guest room can be a fun experience. These tips will help you stay on track while creating a homey and welcoming space for your visitors. No matter which option you choose your guests will appreciate your thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

DealDash Fun Winter Games

dealdash

Everyone, young and old, can play fun games this winter. Here are some ideas to keep you and your family busy this winter season, from DealDash.

The winter season is the busiest time of the year. You have a lot of shopping to do, and holiday parties to throw. One of the challenges of throwing a holiday gathering is finding the right games to play. There are so many fun indoor games to choose from that your family, friends, and guests will enjoy. You Have to find games that everyone will enjoy regardless of their age. Here are 3 fun winter games for your seasonal celebration, from DealDash.

The Best and Worst Gift

The best and worst gift is an easy winter game to play. Give all of your players four slips of paper. Each of your players must write down two good gifts and two bad gifts. It has to be one that they received and one that they made up on their own. After they write down the four gifts, put the slips in a bowl and shake them up.  Let your group of friends and family guests which gift is real and which gift is fake. This is a great game to play when you have lots of people, such as at a party. If you are looking for tips on throwing a holiday party, read this previous DealDash Reviewed article right here

Express Your Creativity During the Winter

Making winter artwork is perfect for people that are in an area where it snows. If you have any snow outside, put water and food dye into a spray bottle. Make sure you use a lot of different colors of food dye. Then invite your friends and family to create different works of art. This is a creative and fun art game to play with your family at home or at gatherings.

Go Fishing with Candy Canes

Candy canes are a traditional Christmas candy. Instead of eating the candy canes you can use them for a fishing game.  All you have to do is place some candy canes on the ground. Then you attach a candy cane to some string and hang it over the top. The person who hooks the most candy canes in a certain time wins.

Win Games From DealDaah

If these games aren’t right for your family, then you can always get some games from DealDash! DealDash actually has some of the most popular board games. DealDash Pets: Choosing the Right Cat Toy

DealDash

This is the wrong toy for your cat!

Having a cat or kitten is a lot of fun. They are playful and love toys. Choosing the right toy for your cat can be an adventure. Read on for some ideas to help you select the right toy, from DealDash.

In this blog article, we will explore new ideas and thoughts that may help you accomplish your goal – selecting a great toy for your cats. There are many different categories of toys to choose from. Read on for some ideas from DealDash to choose an awesome kitty toy.

What do Baby Kittens Like?

If you have a small kitten, then they need a small toy. A toy meant for bigger cats could scare and overwhelm a small kitty. Toys like small, soft fabric mice and little jingly rolling balls can be a good choice.

Toys for Adolescent and Adult Cats

However what toys are best for cats? The following are suggestions and handy recommendations will help you find that perfect toy.

Safety First

The great thing about cats is that they can play ball inside the house. Unlike kids, they don’t typically cause any damage by playing ball! Unfortunately, there may be things inside the house that felines might find appealing yet might actually endanger their safety. As much as you can, take away any string, yarn, needles, rubber bands or other items that could quickly be swallowed by felines. This also includes hair ties! One of my kitties loves to try to eat hair ties, so I have to keep mine and my daughter’s in a bag so kitty can’t get them.

Softies Make Great Toys

Choose soft toys that can quickly be machine-washed. It is best that the toys picked to be played with by felines are toys marked as safe to be played with by children below three years of age. Toys such as these generally include fillings that are not harmful and plastic parts that can’t be chewed off.

You Know Your Feline Best

You are your cat’s mommy or Daddy, and you know them best. Think about what their favorite things are right now, and try to find ones that are similar. Doing so assists in one’s selection of the kind of plaything that your baby likes. Think about what kind of activity the cat likes and its special preferences. For example, does your kitty like to chase a laser pointer? Why not get them an automated one? You can turn it on and it will amuse your cat for as long as she likes!

Active Kitties Need Active Toys

Toys that are excellent to play with for felines are usually the round plastic ones (such as rings from shower curtains, plastic balls, golf balls, ping-pong balls) as these offer felines the chance to chase and paw around. They might also carry these in their mouths, so ensure though that these are big enough they can not be swallowed. Sometimes my cat will even play fetch with these types of toys!.

Another basic yet reliable plaything for felines is a paper bag. Use paper bags that do not have handles. My cat has gotten her head stuck in the handles too many times, now I cut them off before I give them to the cats to play with. These bags are good for pouncing around. Felines conceal themselves in them too, like a cave. Do not use the plastic ones, as felines have the propensity to chew these and they might eat the plastic.

Toys with Tails

Cats like playing with soft toy animals. Their favorites are the ones that have tails. They either bite them, paw them, or throw these toys around. It is best if these toys are somewhere between the size of the cat’s head or about half of their body.

Catnip for Kitties

Catnip is in some cases used as stuffing for toys that are soft. Putting catnip in such toys make the toys more pleasurable to carry, throw, and kick around. It is safe for felines to chew on, roll around in, or eat. My older cat’s absolute favorite toy is a stuffed fish with catnip inside. She carries it around in her mouth and loves to play with it.

Cat owners can place catnip on carpeted floors, or (to make clean-up easy) on towels. There are now catnip oils that can be placed on carpets, and they usually stay there. There are also containers that have liquid bubbles with catnip in them, you can use a wand to blow them. Although small felines, specifically kittens who are younger than 6 months, have revealed a particular type of immunity to catnip. So don’t bother with the catnip toys until your kitten is half-grown.

All in all, it is best that feline owners define what kind of toy must be played by their felines. Cats can quickly tire of seeing the same fluffy toy animal once again and once again. If cats show a particular liking to a particular toy, let them play with it, or sleep with it – whichever they like.

DealDash Tricks for Presents on a Budget

DealDash

With holidays of all types coming up – Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas, you will need to buy gifts. Here are some tricks from DealDash to get presents on a budget.

There are millions of dollars spent on holiday presents every year. Studies have shown that most people are in a financial bind after Christmas. It is okay to give your family and friends nice presents, but you don’t have to put a hole in your wallet. Sticking to a budget when buying presents will help you stay within your limit. You can still buy memorable gifts on a budget. Here are some tips on how to buy presents for family and friends on a budget, from DealDash.

Set a Budget

If you do not create a budget, you are going to spend too much money on holiday presents. Make a list of the people that you are buying presents for. Put down an estimation of how much the gift will cost and set aside money for that person. This will give you an idea of how much money you need to spend on presents.

Shop on Black Friday

Black Friday is when some of the best deals come out. You can take care of your Christmas shopping list by going shopping the day after Thanksgiving. It is best to go early in the morning to get the doorbusters. Make sure to make a list of things that you need to buy and try to stick to it. Shopping on Black Friday will save you a lot of money.

Shop on DealDash, of Course!

If deals are what you are searching for, then DealDash is the place to shop! You don’t have to wait for a big sale, because you can get awesome deals on DealDash every single day. Personally, I have gotten many things such as a fancy memory foam pillow, a designer sweater, and lots of jewelry for over 50% off! There are gifts for everyone. Here are a few ideas:

Gift Cards of all types: Click for the Gift Cards category

Toys and Games: Click for the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category

Clothing, Shoes, Purses, and Scarves: Click for the Fashion, Health, and Beauty category

Tools, Art, and Home Decor: Click for the Home, Garden, and Tools category

Try Cash Only

If you are on a very strict budget, you can pay for Christmas presents in cash. You will be tempted to go over your limit when you have a credit card. With cash, you will be forced to stick to your Christmas shopping budget, and you won’t go in debt. It is easy to lose track of how much you spend when you use your credit card. Sticking to cash will ease your financial worries after Christmas.

If there are items that you need to order online, consider using your cash to “charge up” a prepaid debit card. This way you can pay online, but you will still only be able to use the particular amount of cash that you have saved up.

Thanks for Reading

Shopping for Christmas presents can be a fun experience. These tips will help you stay on a budget, so you won’t spend too much money. You can still buy nice presents for your family all while staying on a budget.

DealDash Helps You Throw a Memorable Holiday Party

dealdash

Holiday party season is coming up! Here are some ideas from DealDash to help you throw a memorable Christmas party.

Christmas is a wonderful holiday to spend time with friends and family. Throwing a Christmas party is one of the best ways to bring your loved ones together. Planning a Christmas party can seem stressful. You have to manage and coordinate the event. Throwing a Christmas party does not have to be stressful. There are some tips and tricks that can help you throw a memorable Christmas party, from DealDash.

Plan Your Party Early

The best thing to do when throwing a Christmas party is to plan your party early. It is best to start planning a Christmas party six weeks before Christmas. This will give you enough time to invite your guests and plan the party. Make sure to not throw your party too close to Christmas. The weekend is usually the best time to have a Christmas party.

Choose the Right Location

Choosing the right location is important. You can have a friend or family member hold the party at their house, or you can choose a location. Renting out space for a Christmas party can be expensive. If you feel comfortable holding the Christmas party at your home, it will save you a lot of money.

Prepare the Food

The best way to prepare food for a Christmas party is to hire a caterer. All you have to do is pay for the food (and their time), and they will do the hard work. It is important to make sure that the catering company carries a wide selection of food.  Appetizers are also good for Christmas parties. You can make your own appetizers such as deviled eggs, veggies and dip, and Christmas cookies. Make sure to have plenty of food so everyone can have something that they like.

Get Kitchen Accoutrements on DealDash

If you decide to skip the caterer and make all of your party food yourself, then you might need some new kitchen items. DealDash can help you get these things that you need. Whether it’s a fancy new stand mixer, some shiny new cutlery, or a set of sharp new knives, DealDash has them all! Just click here to check out the Kitchen and Dining category.

Thanks from DealDash for Reading

Just because you are doing the hosting doesn’t mean that your friends and relatives that are coming can’t help out! Figure out what would help you the most, and ask people that are coming to your Thanksgiving celebration to help. For example, maybe you need someone to bring a card table and chairs for extra seating. Or maybe you need someone to bring a dessert or a side dish. Don’t be shy. These are the people that are coming into your home for the holiday, they will be happy to help you.

DealDash Crafts: Create Scrapbooks With Your Kids

DealDash

People of all ages and skill levels can enjoy scrapbooking. Here are some ideas to think about when you are creating a scrapbook with your kids. Read on for more information from DealDash.

If you are looking for a meaningful craft to do with your kids you should most certainly consider making scrapbooks with them. There are so many great reasons as to why you should start making scrapbooks with your kids. Scrapbooking is a great way to bond with your kids, and you won’t even have to spend a lot of money, either!

Preserve Family Memories

Scrapbooks are a great way to preserve memories of friends and family. You can have fun preserving fun memories like family reunions and family vacations. Also, you can preserve memories of fun times with friends. Making a scrapbook can really be almost as much fun as creating the memories themselves. Even better, you and your kids can look back on the time you created a scrapbook as a lovely memory as well!

Express Creativity

You can really allow your kids to express their creativity when it comes to making scrapbooks. You can let your kids make their own scrapbooks by letting them design their own pages to proudly display the pictures that they have taken. It is a fantastic way to let their creativity shine through in their work. Many craft stores have inexpensive scrapbooks with fun covers that they can choose from. They can also get one with a plain cover and decorate it as well.

You’re in Charge of the Scrapbook

Scrapbooks can be as simple or as complicated as you would like them to be. This is great news as kids of all ages can take part in making a scrapbook. You can make simpler scrapbooks with younger kids and let older kids tackle more complicated designs.

For the youngest of kids, say preschool age, you might want to let them pick the photos and the placement of the items in the scrapbook. However, you would do the actual gluing and decorating. For elementary-aged children, you can work together to create an amazing scrapbook. DealDash Fun Holiday Crafts for Kids

dealdash

The holidays are a wonderful time to do crafts with your kids. Here are some suggestions for some fun crafts to do with your kids or grandkids.

Kids love holidays, especially Christmas. They love receiving presents and being out of school for a week.  One of the best things to do with your kids during the holidays is arts & crafts. You can get your kids into the Christmas spirit by making a variety of crafts. Making holiday crafts will also keep them entertained.  Here are some fun holiday craft ideas for kids from DealDash.

Make Mini Snow Globes

Snow globes are perfect for the holidays because there is something magical about them. When you use Epson salts and a clear shot glass, you can easily make a mini snow globe. Simply add 1 tablespoon of Epson salts to the shot glass. Then, line the rim of the shot glass with tacky glue to create a base to go under the shot glass. After you line the rim of the shot glass, add some pipe cleaners in the color that you choose.  Then, shake up the globe and enjoy the winter wonderland.

Make Shining Stars

Making shinning stars is simple. Your kids can make as many as they would like too. Cut some shapes from disposable foil pans. Then place them on some cardboard. Use a craft tool like a pushpin to create patterns. Turn the star into an ornament by adding some string to it.

Colorful Pom-Pom Balls

You can create a 3-D mosaic with a pom-pom in the color of your choice. In order to make the pom-pom, you have to insert a pin into the pom-pom. Then press your pin into a medium size styrofoam ball. Do this step until the ball is completely covered. All you have to do is add a piece of ribbon to hang the styrofoam ball on a tree.

DealDash Helps Take Care of Your Kitchen

DealDash

Having a beautiful and well-appointed kitchen is one thing, but do you know how to take care of your appliances? Here are some tricks and ideas from DealDash to keep everything in good order.

When you first move into a house the kitchen is typically sparkling clean. However, once your house is a little more “lived in” things can get dingy pretty quick, especially the kitchen. This is because tiny food particles get spread around the kitchen while you are cooking and can be tricky to get completely clean. Here are some tips from DealDash to keep everything clean and shiny.

Steam the Microwave

The only thing that you need to keep your microwave clean is lemon and water in a bowl. Simply slice the lemon and squeeze the juice into a little water in a bowl. Then toss in the lemon peels as well. Microwave for 3 minutes and take out the bowl. Be sure to use a hot pad or oven gloves, it will be very hot. All of the accumulated dirt, food, and grime will wipe right off with a few paper towels.

Do this simple trick once a month to keep your microwave sparkling clean and looking great. Toss the lemon water and peels down your dish disposal and run it with cold water. This will deodorize your dish disposal and make good use of your lemon peels.

Shine Your Sink

Another place that can get grimy fast is your kitchen sink. It can be very hard if you have kids, but try to keep the sink clear of dirty dishes by rinsing them right away and putting them into the dishwasher. Once per day make sure that the sink is completely clear and give it a good cleaning. Just spray some white vinegar onto it and scrub with a microfiber cloth. If you don’t have a microfiber cloth you can use paper towels or a sponge, but the microfiber towel will get it much shinier.

Get New Small Appliances from DealDash

If your kitchen is older and in need of some updating, why not get a few new small appliances from DealDash? A pop of color here and there from a new stand mixer or a classy new cutting board will make your kitchen look great. DealDash offers many different things for your kitchen such as cutlery, tea sets, food processors, chef knives, and so many other items. DealDash Quick Tips for Delicious Meals

dealdash

It’s the season to cook for guests, friends, and family. Here are some great tips from DealDash to help you have more success in the kitchen.

Plenty of people think cooking food for guests is a difficult task to accomplish, but this is not the case. Cooking for other people is quite simple if you follow guidelines and have the appropriate understanding. The short article from DealDash includes many pointers that will help you in cooking your favorite dishes for your guests, friends, and family.

Don’t Throw Away – Reuse!

The fall is a wonderful time to make turkeys and roasts for your guests. Many people just throw away the pan drippings, but you can reuse them. Simply let them settle in a zip-lock plastic bag. The fat will separate pan drippings. Pour out the juices into a different container, and the fat will remain in the plastic bag. You will have a delicious broth as a base for gravy or a sauce. You can freeze this, and use it another time.

Making a Cake for Guests?

To include a little extra special taste to a plain vanilla or yellow cake mix, utilize the liquid from any canned fruit. Use the juice from canned fruit rather than the plain water required when making the mix. You can find canned fruit of all types such as pineapples, mandarin oranges, or mixed fruit. These fruits come packed in either syrup or water. Select a water-packed can of fruit your family loves to make a plain cake additionally delicious.

Frost the cake utilizing vanilla, cream cheese,  or buttercream and include the fruit chunks as the design on top. All of your friends and family will marvel at your delicious cake.

Care for Your Spices

When cooking, lots of people don’t take proper care of the spices that they use to season their food. All spices must be saved in a cool dark place and never ever above a stove. Because storing spices in areas where there is a lot of heat, humidity, or light will trigger them to lose their taste. Luckily, this is easy to fix.

Make sure you store all of your spices in cool and dark locations. Get a spice rack and install it in your kitchen. Don’t store your spices above the stove. Many standard cooking areas place the spice rack above the stove for the benefit of being handy. However, this practice can actually minimize the flavor and life of your herbs. Light, humidity, and heat can all cause spices to lose their taste. Unfortunately, storing above the range guarantees they are exposed to all three. Keep your spices in a cool, dark, dry cabinet to prolong their shelf life.

Extra Delicious Mashed Potatoes

To make creamy and smooth mashed potatoes, mash hot potatoes in a food ricer. After pushing them through, mix them with butter and hot milk. End with an electrical beater. This will keep your potatoes free of chunks and will leave them tasting light and scrumptious. For additional velvety potatoes, include more butter. Don’t forget to use salt, pepper, and a dash of garlic powder if desired.

Thanks from DealDash for Reading

Thanks so much for checking out this DealDash blog post on quick tips to cook delicious food. As we mentioned, lots of people think cooking is challenging, however that is not true. DealDash Pets: Holiday Travel with Pets

DealDash

If you’re traveling to see family this holiday season you might want to bring your pets with you. It can be tricky to travel with pets. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to help you have an easier time traveling with pets.

If you are prepared for it, taking a trip with your family pets for holiday visits can be an enjoyable experience. However, it can develop into a headache because of the special treatment your animals require. It will also dictate where you will stay if you are planning on staying in a hotel. If you are staying with family or friends, you’ll have to make certain they are comfy with you bringing your pet along. Read on for some helpful tips from DealDash.

Pets in a Hotel

Planning on staying in a hotel? You might be disappointed, as many places will not let animals (other than service animals) stay in their building. When traveling with pets you need to make your preparations in advance.  Ensure you explore all of the details of prior to booking so you won’t lose your money if your pet is not allowed in the hotel you choose. If you are able to find a hotel that allows pets, be prepared to pay a down payment for damages. If your pet doesn’t damage anything you will typically have your money returned to you.

Air Travel with Pets

Never fear, if you are flying, many airlines can make accommodations for your animals. However, to take a trip in the airplane they will need to be protected in a crate or airline approved carrier. This can be traumatizing for animals that are accustomed to strolling around wherever they please. Many pets will need to fly in the freight location of the airplane. Some airline companies, however, permit small pets to be positioned under the seat throughout the trip. Be sure to check with the airline before booking so you know the pet situation and what you will need to do to travel with your pet.

Most, if not all, will charge you a fee to bring your pet with you. Still, this is an excellent method to guarantee your animal is being well looked after while your traveling for your holiday.  If you are bringing your pet with you, especially if they are traveling in the freight section, you should get a direct flight whenever possible.

Pets and the Weather

Pay very close attention to the weather conditions for your holiday travel. It can be difficult for your family pet if there are weather extremes. If you are traveling to somewhere much colder or warmer than your pet is accustomed to, you might want to re-think traveling with your pet. Extreme temperatures can be dangerous for pets. In this case, they might be better off staying in a boarding kennel.

Other Travel Methods

You will most likely not be able to take your pet with you on the bus lines or the train. This is because of their rigorous standards. The only exemption to this guideline is seeing eye dogs as not permitting them aboard is an infraction under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Because of this, many individuals taking a holiday trip with pets make a decision to take their own car or even rent a car for the trip.

Choosing a Kennel Instead

If traveling with a pet sounds like it is too much work, they can stay in a boarding kennel instead. Be sure that your pet is up-to-date on all of their immunizations. If you choose to board your pet be sure to make the reservations well in advance.

Get Pet Items on DealDash

Fun Halloween Kid’s Activities from DealDash

DealDash

Halloween is coming up soon and if you have kids or grandkids you’ll want to do a fun activity. Here are some ideas from DealDash for fun Halloween activities your kids will love.

There are many fun youngsters’ activities readily available throughout the Halloween season. You can capitalize on those tasks to maintain their attention and keep them active. When Halloween night is quickly coming, they are most likely to be thrilled and excited. That is why prep work overall is crucial to show them a good time. Here are some tips and ideas to make your kids have a great Halloween.

Arts and Crafts

Arts and crafts are fun to do around Halloween time. You can do this with the children to make it satisfying and keep them busy. Just a quick search online can help you find so many different simple and easy Halloween crafts to do with your kids. Just type in their age and “Halloween crafts” into a search engine and you will get hundreds of hits. My daughter, who is now 7, loves anything to do with coloring and cutting out designs. You could make a fun banner that spells out “Happy Halloween” with spooky ghost and bat designs. No matter what craft you pick, your kids will have a great time with you creating some Halloween memories.

Don’t Forget the Pumpkins

Pumpkins. This is one of the most favored Halloween items for youngsters. Children can do the pumpkin carving to produce Jack O’ Lanterns. However, this requires a great deal of guidance. You will need to monitor them closely if they are using any sort of sharp tools. Pumpkins can additionally be decorated using other less dangerous tools like painting or using stickers to improve and embellish them. If your kids aren’t ready to decorate a real pumpkin they could, instead, make pumpkins with clay or paper plates.

Special Halloween Foods

Another fun thing the youngsters can make is Halloween food. They will certainly take pleasure in making them and also they will certainly likewise appreciate consuming them. You can, again, find many things to help you with this online by typing “Halloween recipes” into your favorite search engine. You will end up with results such as how to make candy apples and caramel popcorn balls. A very creative idea my friend did once was to make a pizza at home and when it came out of the oven she put on little ghosts that she had carved out of cheese. It was adorable and her kids loved it.

Halloween Costumes

No one says that a child’s Halloween outfit has to be bought at the store! Educate the kids that they do not require to invest much for the outfits, they can make them at home as many children did back in the “good old days”. First, they will need to discover what they would love to be, then help them begin working with their very own outfits in your home. DealDash Helps Groom Your Dog

dealdash

All dogs need grooming occasionally. Here are some helpful tips from DealDash to keep your pup looking great. Read on for handy tips and information.

Just like a beautiful and glossy head of hair implies good health for us human beings, a glossy coat of fur on a pet dog means your pet is in good health. In fact, a good lustrous shiny coat of fur is one of the strongest signs that your pooch is enjoying great dog health. Correct dog grooming is necessary for promoting good doggie health and wellbeing. Depending on the type of dog that you have, this might involve only a few minutes per week or per day in some cases. No matter what type of dog you have, DealDash can help you with dog grooming information.

Shiny Coat = Healthy Pup

If it’s your mission to have your canine sporting a healthy coat of fur, you ought to groom him every day. However, weekly will do if he has short fur, or thrice weekly if your canine is the type that has long or thick fur.

Bathing a canine can be a tiresome and wet experience. You often end up wet along with your pet dog when bathing him, however, it can be quite fun when you get the hang of it. You can opt to give him his bath in your kitchen area sink if your pet is small. However, if your pet dog is bigger, you would need to use your tub or even a kiddie pool outside in nicer weather.

Bathing Your Dog for Maximum Cleanliness

When you bathe your pet dog, use a hose or a removable shower head and wet him completely to the skAfterwardards, use doggie shampoo and soap him up. Begin with his chest to the top of his head, down his back and tail. Finally, his legs and feet. Don’t forget in-between the toes! Take care not to get any of that shampoo in his ears or eyes.

Of course, pet shampoo should be used for your pet rather than your own hair shampoo. Pet dog shampoo is specifically created for dog grooming, created to suit the sensitivity of the skin and fur of canines. However, if you need to bathe him right away and can’t get to the store, then baby shampoo will work. If you don’t have baby shampoo on hand, then Dawn dish detergent can be used as a last resort. Be sure to use this very sparingly, just 1/4 of a teaspoon or so for a small tub, and 1/2 a teaspoon for a full bathtub.

Wash and rinse your pet completely after shampooing his fur. Make sure that there are no remaining soap suds on your dog’s skin, or else the soap might cause a rash or inflammation. He might also wind up licking at the remaining soap on his skin, which is very bad for his tummy. When you think you have rinsed out all of the shampoo, give him one more rinse to be sure. It only takes a moment of your time, and it might save you from cleaning up a much bigger mess later on due to an upset tummy.

After Doggie Spa Time

If your canine is the type that has long or thick fur, you might consider drying his fur out with a hair dryer. He might not enjoy this experience, so you might only want to do this in winter, or if he is the type of pup to get cold easily.

Brushing your pet dog’s fur will eliminate the snags and tangles in it if your dog has long hair. If your pup has long hair, then you will want to brush him daily or weekly to prevent the mats from forming. Brushing is a must, however, after a bath.

It’s Okay to Admit Defeat

There is no shame in admitting that you can’t bathe your dog yourself. It can be hard to perform dog grooming on your own, so if you prefer, just get his grooming done at a pet grooming salon.

Excellent Food Helps with Shiny Fur

Bear in mind that a shiny coat is not just for looks, it’s also a strong indication of a good canine health. You should not skimp on the cost of canine food. For good health, it’s important that you do not cut corners on quality canine food. Or, you can prepare your own canine food to feed your pooch. This is really not needed, though, there are many excellent pet foods readily available at the pet store. Just ask your vet for a recommendation!

DealDash Kids: Busy Weekends = Happy Kids

DealDash

Busy kids are better behaved and happier. Keep your kids busy on the weekends with these ideas from DealDash.

With most kids back in school, most parents are wondering what to do to keep their child busy on the weekends. Of course, this is once homework and any chores are done! Too many parents worry about time spent with electronics but are unsure as to what to have their kids do. Here are some tips to keep your kids busy (and happy) on the weekends, from DealDash.

Crafty Kids are Happy Kids

Doing crafts is a wonderful way to spend some time on the weekends. There are countless crafts that you can do with kids of all ages. My daughter and I absolutely love to do crafts. For example, smaller kids could make a dollhouse out of shoe boxes or older kids could learn a craft like knitting or sewing. If you enjoy a craft this might be a great time to teach your child that craft.

I order a lot of packages, so I have many small to medium-sized cardboard boxes on hand. My daughter likes to design houses for our cats with them. She draws lines to show me where to cut and then she decorates the houses with markers. This is fun for both her and the cats since the cats like to scratch on the houses she makes. If your family has cats, bunnies, hamsters, or guinea pigs your kids might enjoy making them small houses out of cardboard boxes.

Go Outside Before it’s too Cold

Spending time outside with your kids is another way to keep them busy on the weekends. You could set up a treasure hunt for younger kids or play some type of outdoor sport with older kids. Not only is being outdoors with your kids a fantastic way to spend time with them it is also a great way to help keep them healthy as well.

You should try to maximize the time with your kids outdoors while the weather is not too cold. Small kids should not be outside in the cold weather too long, and should always wear layers including gloves or mittens and a hat. Spend some time playing outside with your kids before it’s too cold.

Get Outdoor Toys from DealDash

If you and your kids are playing outdoors on the weekends you should get some fun outdoor items from DealDash. There is a large selection to choose from in the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category on DealDash. Click here to check out everything from sports equipment to ride-on toys. If your kids like to play outdoors be sure to see what DealDash has up for auction today!

Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon

Get a Job!

If your child is older you might want to suggest getting a part-time job on the weekends. This would be an excellent way for them to learn some responsibility and they will enjoy having some spending money of their own. Younger kids can earn money as well.  They can do anything from setting up a lemonade stand to mowing lawns or shoveling sidewalks. It is a great way to keep them busy on the weekends.

Thanks for Reading

So keep these tips in mind the next time that you hear your child say that they are bored or there is nothing to do on the weekend. Using these ideas from DealDash you will be able to help them find something to keep them busy that they will enjoy doing.

DealDash’s 10 Tips to Save at the Supermarket

DealDash

As a DealDash shopper, you are most likely a fan of saving money. Here are some great tips to save money the next time you go to the supermarket.

Since you are a savvy shopper, who loves a deal, we have created a checklist of several tips to help you conserve extra cash on your weekly shopping. Read on for some great information to help you save money on your family’s essentials at the supermarket, from DealDash. Read these 10 tips to save.

Super Tips to Save on Food

1. Don’t shop hungry.

When you are starving, never ever go to the supermarket. When we are famished our state of mind adjustments, we make negative choices. Sadly, we often wind up buying a basket packed with chips, cookies, and ice cream. In other words, foods loaded with sugar and fats. These foods are not only bad for your health, but also your wallet. These foods cost much more per serving than healthy, homemade foods.

2. Bulk is best.

When you have a chance, purchase in mass! When you see a bargain as well as items you want in the future, Supply up. Your pantry will be filled with canned and dry goods and will save you money as well as time since you won’t need to shop as often.

3. Pay attention to use-by dates.

When you buy new food at the store check the use-by dates to be sure they are far enough in the future. When you put your foods away in the pantry be sure to put the oldest foods in the front. This will decrease your food waste and save you money as well as being environmentally friendly.

4.  Look around!

Do not simply depend on that your neighborhood warehouse store has the most effective bargains. Be sure to venture out there and check prices elsewhere. Huge chains are usually extremely affordable with their rates as well. Comparison shopping is essential for saving money.

5. Make a list.

Produce a checklist of the most common items you purchase weekly and price them out in your neighborhood shops. These items might be the best ones to purchase in bulk as long as they can be safely stored in the pantry or freezer.

6. Do weekly meal prep.

Look for very easy to prepare foods that you are able to freeze into meal portions. Weekly meal prepping could conserve you time and money in the future. Some ideas might be lasagna, breakfast bowls, or chicken and rice meals.

7. Shop local for meat.

Seek out a regional butcher to purchase non-pre-packaged meat. It’s typically less expensive and also higher quality compared to a supermarket deli counter. Many of these shops will also do price matching, so you can get better meat at the same price as at the supermarket.

8. Shop in season.

Purchase the veggies you like when they are in season. When they are numerous and plentiful, veggies will be put on sale at the store. Many of these fruits and veggies can be frozen as well for use later on when they aren’t in season and are more expensive.

9. Grow your own.

Plant a natural herb garden! This is a fantastic leisure activity that will save you money. It will certainly offer you a nearly limitless supply of herbs. You can usually grow these items inside, many people like to keep mini herb gardens on their kitchen window sill.

10. Loyalty programs save money.

Sign up with supermarket discount card programs and also register for VIP cards. You should do this at any place you can from the supermarket to the pharmacy and beyond.

DealDash Kids: Pack a Nutritious and Delicious Lunch

DealDash

Packing your kids a great school lunch is very important. It is the energy they need to finish out the school day. Here are some tips from DealDash to help you get started.

Packing a great school lunch for your child can be a daunting task. You need to make sure to pack something your child is actually going to eat. Here are some tips to keep in mind when Packing a lunch for your kids, from DealDash.

Pack the Correct Amount of Food

You need to make sure to pack the right amount of food for your child. All the while making sure that it is healthy for them. You need to make the food fun, especially if you are packing a lunch for a younger child. Create funny faces on a sandwich or think of some creative way to display their food. You will see that they will be much more apt to eat whatever you have packed for them. Personally, I like to use cookie cutters to cut out sandwiches for my daughter. They also have pre-made sandwich cutters as well, but cookie cutters work just as well.

Save Money on Healthy Lunches

Packing a great lunch does not need to be expensive. If you plan correctly you can pack a healthy meal for your kids without having to spend a great deal of money. For example, if your child is a fan of last night’s dinner think about how you can attractively pack leftovers for them. Also, stock up when you are able on your child’s favorite foods that you can include in their lunch.

For example, my daughter absolutely loves salad. Today I chopped up 2 heads of lettuce, washed it, and now it’s waiting to be portioned out each day for her lunch. After I add in tomatoes, cucumbers, and a little container of dressing I will spend about .50 per salad. That’s a great bargain compared to how much it would be to purchase a salad from school each day!

Don’t Forget a Note Now and Then

Packing a great school lunch is not always about the food. You can use preparing their lunch as a bonding experience. Leave them encouraging notes or funny pictures, or just about anything that will help you connect with your child while you are apart.

Check DealDash For Kitchen Tools

If you need a little help preparing your child’s school lunch, no problem! DealDash is here to help with a variety of kitchen tools up for auction. You can find things like knives, small appliances, and even kitchen scales. Just click here to visit the Kitchen and Dining category on DealDash.

Thanks for Reading

As you can see, it is simpler to pack a great school lunch for your child than you might have thought. You can even get your child involved in the planning process for their lunch so you know that they will be happy with whatever is put in their lunch bag. This way you know that your child will have a good meal which will help them do their very best in school.

DealDash Kids: Tips to Make the Most of the School Year

DEALDASH BACK TO SCHOOL

By this time your child should have already started school or will be starting next week. Here are some tips to help them make the most of the school year.

It’s important for kids of all ages to have a great school year. However, sometimes it is very difficult for younger kids to have a great school year. These kids are complete “newbies” at knowing what to expect from school. Here are some tips to help younger kids get settled and more familiar with what they should do to help themselves have a fun and educational school year. Read on for more information from DealDash.

It’s Okay to Not Know Anyone

Remember, a stranger is “just a friend we haven’t met yet.” If this is your child’s first year at school or if they just don’t know anyone in their class this year, then this is an important thing to tell them. If they don’t know anyone in their classroom this year, that just means that they have even more of a chance to meet their new BFF.

Just Be Yourself

Kids as young as 5 will be in classes this year, and surprisingly even kids this age are worried about fitting in. I have 2 school-aged kids and volunteer in their elementary school. Sadly, I have heard many comments from very young kids that they are worried that people won’t like them. They are worried about the clothing that they are wearing and not having as many toys and gadgets as their classmates. It important to help your kids realize that the superficial stuff isn’t going to help your kids make true friends. and that a real friend will like you no matter what brand of shoes that you are wearing.

Don’t Be Afraid to Be Smart

Try to impart to your kids that being smart is a good thing. They might see things on TV or online showing smart kids to be “nerdy” or “uncool”. However, the kids who listen and do well in school get to do their dream jobs when they are older. No matter if they want to be an astronaut, a paleontologist, or a veterinarian, all of these careers require a lot of brains and doing well in school. This all comes back to just being yourself. Tell them to be curious, pay attention, and do well in school to be able to grow up and do their dream job.

Thanks for Reading

School can be difficult, especially for younger kids. Pass these tips along to your kids and hopefully, they can use them to have a great school year. DealDash has lots of items to help your kids transition back to school. DealDash Couponing Made Easy

DealDash

Do you always use coupons? I know I do! Here are some suggestions from DealDash to ensure couponing will proceed much more efficiently when you do your weekly grocery shopping.

Lots of people nowadays are trying to find methods to extend their weekly earnings to ensure that they have the ability to do activities such as paying for food shopping all week or even eating at restaurants weekly. Utilizing coupons is a fantastic method to be able to conserve cash on the products that you are currently buying. Specifically speaking, the foods that you buy each month. Here are a few techniques to have the finest possible experience when you begin couponing, from DealDash.

Determine Your Own Way of Doing Things

You must establish a system that will work for you. There are numerous recommendations available of what is the ideal system for dealing with coupons. However, you have to make certain that you choose an organizational technique that is going to be simple for you. If it’s not simple and easy you probably won’t do it!

You should plan to sort your coupons during the same occasion every week. Personally, I recommend an accordion-style collapsable purse to keep your coupons in. Other individuals choose folders or perhaps merely an envelope. Use what works most effectively when it comes to yourself. Some supermarkets sell these at the checkout stand.

Do Away with the Out Of Date Ones

You will additionally wish to expunge expired discount coupons from your assortment weekly. By doing this you do not run the risk of depending on cost savings which you are actually not going to have the ability to obtain. You have to ensure that you are always utilizing coupons which are definitely within their expiry date. Furthermore, to be able to completely take full advantage of your cost savings you have to stay clear of impulse buying as well as just purchasing what you require. If you buy things you do not need you are going to end up spending more and not saving money. This isn’t your goal!

Get to know the Rules at Your Preferred Shop

Whenever anyone is just beginning with discount coupons they should begin with their local supermarket. Learn everything you can regarding the store’s discount coupon protocol and learn ways to pair discount coupons with sales that the shop may be featuring. You will quickly establish a plan that will help you in relation to using coupons, This is so you can easily use it at other establishments for other products that you need to buy. You can move on to other stores once you have mastered your local grocery store. Attempt to just try it one store at a time so you don’t get the coupon protocols mixed up. Some of the rules can be a little confusing and arbitrary.

DealDash Kids: It’s Still Hot, Keep Your Kids Busy

DealDash

It might be almost time (or already time!) for your kids to be back at school. It’s still quite hot in many areas. Here are some ideas to keep the kids busy while it’s still hot out, from DealDash.

It isn’t really always all that easy to keep the kids busy all summer season long, and the entertainment doesn’t even stop when they return to school. There are still many hours per day after school and on weekends where you will often hear a chorus of “I’m BORED!”. This is especially true on very hot days, the days when the kids enter the house 5 minutes after you send them out, grumbling “it’s too hot outside!” What can you do to keep them busy, other than letting them watch YouTube videos or play computer games? Plenty! Read on for more information from DealDash.

Make Popsicles

To start with, have some inexpensive, cool treats on hand. Homemade popsicles do not cost much and serve a dual purpose. The kids can help you make them which will take up a little time, and then they can enjoy eating them later on.

However, they do tend to be messy. Simply send the kids outside to restrict the mess. This idea might only keep the kids out for a brief time, but as any parent knows, 15 minutes of silence can be a breath of fresh air.

Send Them Out in Late Afternoon

Let the kids outside to play in the later afternoon, when it’s cooler outside. This works well if your kids are already back to school. They can come home, have a snack, do their homework, and then go outside to play before dinner.

Board Games, Not Video Games

Aim to keep tv watching/video game playing under 2 hours a day total. If your kids like to play games then board games work very well. Of course, this depends on the ages of your kids. My daughter is 6 years old, and just starting to enjoy easier board games like “Trouble” and “Kid’s Monopoly”. There’s nothing wrong with video games in moderation, of course. Every kid should get to play something they enjoy, hopefully, they will choose outdoor play sometimes.

Provide Fun Toys Outside from DealDash

Kids will definitely want to go outside and play if there are fun toys out there. Be sure to check DealDash for some great outdoor items. DealDash has bikes and basketball hoops and other fun sports equipment they can use outdoors.

Thanks for Reading

There are so many great reasons as to why you should encourage your kids to play outside daily, even if it’s hot. They can really benefit from the outdoor play. Use these ideas to tempt them into outdoor play each day.

Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on playing outside even when it’s hot. Don’t forget to check back every day for new articles here. Also read our sister blog, DealDash Tips. We love to hear from our readers, just leave a comment down below.

DealDash Health: Make a First Aid Kit for Home

DealDash

Having a first aid kit on hand for your family is very important. Here is a quick primer on how to make one up for your home, car, or to keep on hand. Read on for more information from DealDash.

It’s a little scary to think about, but mishaps and medical emergency situations in the home take place regularly. It happens even more frequently than you might realize. Statistics have shown that injuries occur about every 4 seconds in the American home. These accidents vary and can occur from many different sources from cuts to burns and more. Each and every home needs to have at least one first Aid Kit that is well stocked and easily on hand. You might also want to consider making another first aid kit for your car, and a mini one for your purse or backpack. DealDash has you covered.

Where Should You Keep the Supplies

Firstly, you need a vessel to keep the items in. You can buy a box or bag that says “First Aid” or you can use something that you already have. Make sure you save your First Aid Kit in a carry bag or plastic container that will keep your kit tidy and dry and easily accessible in your house. Just be sure to mark it very carefully with the words “FIRST AID” so everyone knows what’s inside.

You will also need to designate a place to keep your kit. The kit is typically kept in the bathroom, but you could also keep it in the kitchen or anywhere else that is close at hand.

What is it Used For?

First aid kits for the home are used most typically for small injuries such as cuts, sunburns, small cooking burns, or bug or animal bites. Having a well-stocked first aid kit can mean the difference between having to take a trip to the doctor or clinic right away or be able to take care of things at home.

What Should Go Inside?

However, the First Aid Kit will not be any use to you if you don’t know how to utilize it properly. Make certain you have a guidebook or pamphlet in your first aid kit from a reliable source such as your doctor’s office. It must have the latest medical guidance and be simple to read, particularly under tension. Here is a short list of things that should be inside your kit:

  • Pointed tweezers for removing splinters
  • Disposable latex or non-latex gloves
  • Small rounded-tipped scissors for cutting medical tape
  • Band-Aids
  • Breathing Barrier for carrying out CPR
  • Thermometer-either digital or mercury – if you choose digital you should keep an extra battery in the kit as well.
  • Ice Bag
  • Eye Patches
  • Oral (without needle) syringe for liquid medications
  • Medicines  – Including Non-prescription medicines such as antihistamine cough suppressant, aspirin, ibuprofen, syrup of ipecac in case somebody consumes toxin. This need to only be utilized after calling the Poison Control Center first. Also, you should include any prescription medications that any family members take as well as a paper copy of the prescriptions.
  • A range of all sizes of gauze to dress a variety of injuries. This includes wrapped sterile gauze pads 2″ X 2″ non-stick gauze bandages, sterile gauze pads 4″ X 4″ , and One roll 2″ gauze
  • Medical tape
  • Bactericides such as Hydrogen Peroxide, witch hazel, or alcohol to kill germs.
  • Anti-bacterial cream or ointment. This is good for cuts, scrapes and insect bites.

Keep It Current

Your First Aid Kit should be inspected once each year, possibly the very same day you inspect your smoke alarm. You will want to be sure it is fully stocked. Make certain you always make a note of anything you utilize out of your Kit so it can easily be replaced. This is a great time to check the expiration dates on all medications and be sure that any paper prescriptions are still current.

Thanks for Reading

You will feel much better once you have your first aid kit all made up and installed in its new home. You should also consider making up one for your car, boat, or anywhere else that you spend a lot of time.

Also, you can even get more creative with the dough and add some food coloring for a little color. The sculptures can be air dried when you are done, and they make great gifts to give to loved ones.

Setting little kids loose with stickers and markers can be a simple way for them to have a great time creating something fun. You can tailor the stickers that you get to each child so that they can personalize their artwork. You can give them anything from notebook paper to poster board to work on in order to create their art. If you like, you can draw an outline of a simple picture in markers that they can fill in with stickers, such as a tree or flower.

DealDash Cooks: Once-A-Month Cooking Planning Tips

DealDash

If you have a busy lifestyle, then once-a-month cooking could be an excellent solution for you. Here are some suggestions from DealDash.

When you are planning meals, especially for a large family, you will need to look into once-a-month cooking. When you have decided to take part in once-a-month cooking you need to develop a plan to make sure everything goes like you want it to so here are a few tips to help your plan work, from DealDash.

Make a Plan and a List

When you are going to be doing once a month cooking you need to start meal planning immediately. You need to think about the things that your family is going to want to eat and plan accordingly. This will also give you the opportunity to create a grocery list and look for sales and coupons that you can use to save money on all of food that you will be buying.

Set Aside a Day

Once you have all of your ingredients for once a month cooking purchased you’re going to start developing a plan for the day that you are going to spend cooking.  It is important that you start as early in the day as possible. You are going to be doing a lot of cooking in the short amount of time. You want to create a plan for preparing everything so you can get the food prepared in a reasonable amount of time.

Who Will Help You?

You will also want to enlist help in preparing the food for once a month cooking. It will be a considerable amount of work to do on your own. By finding someone to help you it would be possible to get things done in the most faster time frame.

Don’t overlook any sources of help available, even Elementary school-age children can wash and (carefully!) peel vegetables. One of my 6-year-old daughter’s favorite kitchen activity is to help me prepare asparagus by cutting off the ends with my kitchen scissors. If your child is responsible and careful enough to use scissors to cut paper then they should be able to use kitchen scissors with your supervision.

Thanks for Reading

Advanced planning is one of the most important things that you can do to help your once-a-month cooking to go as planned. So if you want to do once-a-month cooking make sure you have a solid plan in place.

DealDash Helps Your Child Get Over Test Anxiety

DealDash

For many kids, school is open, or will be very soon. With school comes tests, and with tests can come anxiety. DealDash has some tips to help.

With school back in session, your child will soon be taking tests. Unfortunately for many kids tests bring about a huge amount of anxiety. There are a variety of reasons why kids suffer from test anxiety so you want to help them as soon as you discover the issue. Here are some ways to help ease test anxiety in your children, from DealDash.

What’s the Problem?

You should try to determine exactly what is causing the anxiety to happen. Are they simply afraid of getting a bad grade on a test? Or are they thinking farther ahead and feeling like they will not get the career that they want with a bad test grade? You need to find out exactly what is bothering them so you know how to best help them. With younger kids, sometimes the reassurance that “doing their best” is all that you need can take away some of that anxiety.

Just Relax!

Helping your child relax is something that you can do to help ease test anxiety. There are many things that you can do to accomplish this for your child. You can enjoy a snack with them and talk, watch a favorite television show and even offer to help them study. Anything you can think of doing would be helpful. Another great way to help your child relax is to color with them. Some of the adult coloring books they have out now are great for all ages and are very relaxing.

Get Help From Teacher

Getting the teacher involved may also be required if you can’t take care of things at home. They may have resources that you can make use of in order to ease anxiety in your child. It might just be nice to have the extra support for your child. They may be able to make some accommodations for your child when it is time to take a test to make things less stressful for them. Your child’s teacher can also steer you in the direction of the school counselor if your child needs it.

Thanks for Reading

School can be difficult for kids so if they are having test anxiety you want to offer as much help as possible. This way they will be able to focus better and hopefully do well on the tests that they will be taking this school year.

DealDash Crafts Kid’s Picture Frames

DealDash

Making a picture frame with your kids is a fun craft to do together. Here are some tips to make a variety of different frames, from DealDash.

If you are looking for a fun craft to do with your children you will want to consider a picture frame craft. A picture frame craft can be done very inexpensively and there are a variety of different things that you can do. Here are a few ideas to get you started, from DealDash.

Old CD Picture Frame

First, you can take a picture of your child and attach it to a CD that you are not using any more. The CD can be decorated with things like stickers. It makes a bright and shiny picture frame craft to enjoy. If you have a lot of old CDs, then you can make a lovely collage of picture frame CDs.

Crafty Polymer Clay Frame

Another way to get really creative you can help your child make a picture frame out of polymer clay. You can really do a lot with this crafting clay like make flowers or other embellishments for the frame, too. Once it dries you are ready to enjoy your frame. Most of the popular brands of clay need to be baked in the oven. Also, be sure that you are available to help your kids with this part of the craft.

All Natural Frame

Next, if your child enjoys nature-themed crafts you can make a nature-inspired frame by gluing things like pine cones, shells, and also small pebbles to a sturdy frame. It would really make a lovely decoration and your child will have fun hunting around outside to find everything for their frame.

Yarn Wrapped Frame

If you enjoy crafting with yarn and fibers you can make a nicely designed frame. Just take a ball of yarn and wrap it around a cardboard picture frame until the frame is completely wrapped. It can really make a run and funky looking frame if you use different colors and types of yarn.

Playful Toy Frame

Finally, another cool idea would be to take things small doll or action figure accessories and glue them to a frame. You can tailor what you use to the child making the picture frame craft to make it really personalized. Also, it would be fun to make a frame each year decorated with whatever they are really into that year such as dinosaurs, horses, etc. Don’t forget to put the year so you can look back fondly when they get older.

DealDash Cooks: The Benefit of Home-Cooked Meals

dealdash

There are many advantages to cooking your meals at home instead of eating at restaurants. Here are a few, from DealDash.

Everyone seems to be in a hurry these days. From work to school and other activities it can seem like life just doesn’t slow down. This feeling doesn’t leave a lot of room for making a home-cooked meal. Here are some of the benefits of taking the time to make a meal from scratch, from DealDash.

Think of Your Health

It is much healthier to cook from scratch. You will be avoiding processed foods and will be in complete control of what you are your family are eating. It really doesn’t take a whole lot more time to shop for fruits and vegetables than it does for foods that come in a box. You don’t have to worry about having to take extra time shopping to make healthy selections.

Your Wallet Will Thank You

Home-cooked meals can save you money. For one, you won’t be filling up on empty calories where you will be hungry a couple hours later. You will also likely have leftovers that can be turned into lunch the next day. Again, it doesn’t take too much more prep work to prepare a home-cooked meal. You can use your extra time if you like to look for sales and use coupons to further maximize your savings.

Family Time Matters

Home-cooked meals bring families together. You can enjoy conversation around the dinner table and not in front of the TV. With fast food selections, you eat almost as fast as the time you spent buying the food. There is no bonding being done. The preparation of the food itself can also be a great way for you to bond with your family.

Thanks for Reading

As you can see there are some great benefits to preparing home-cooked meals. So next time you are writing your grocery list consider cooking from scratch. You will be very happy that you did.

DealDash Kids: Why They Need a Home-Packed Lunch

DealDash

Your kids might ask to buy lunch at school, but sending them with a home-packed lunch is much better. Here are the reasons why, from DealDash.

Now that kids are starting or soon to starting back to school soon you need to start thinking about school lunches. There really are some nice advantages of packing a school lunch for your child including some of the following reasons, from DealDash.

Save (Lots) of Money

Packing your child’s lunch can end up saving you money. School lunches can get to be expensive especially if you have more than one child in school. When you pack your child their own lunch you can take time to plan and get the things that you need. All without things becoming incredibly expensive. You can also make use of coupons and sales to further maximize your savings for school lunch supplies.

For example, I have two kids who go to the same elementary school. Lunch is $2.50 per child, which doesn’t sound like much, but at $5 per day, $25 per week, and $100 per month for two kids, that’s a lot! I can pack them both a sandwich, fruit, crackers, and fruit snacks for about $3 per day for both of them. That’s only $60 per month compared to $100! Not only am I saving $40 per month, it’s more filling and healthy than a school lunch.

Speaking of Healthy…

You can help to ensure that you are feeding your kids a healthy lunch when you pack them their own lunch. You can decide exactly what they are going to eat so you know that they are eating healthy at school. This is also important if your child has any type of food allergies so you can be safe in knowing what they are eating at lunch is safe for them.

My own daughter has a food allergy to a particular food dye. It might be simple to avoid peanuts in a meal, but avoiding certain numbers and colors of food dye is much harder. This is another reason why I pack her a lunch every day.

Let Your Child Have Some Input on Lunch

Packing your child’s lunch can also be a great way to bond with your child as they can be included in the lunch making process. Apple or banana, ham or turkey, fruit snacks or Jello – there are many choices that your child can assist you with when they make their lunch.

Let Them Know You’re Thinking of Them

You can also do fun things like leaving encouraging notes in your child’s lunch. This can be a great pick me up for your child during the school day. This can be especially important for you and your child if you are a very busy family.

DealDash Has a Multi-Generational Picnic

dealdash

The summer is winding down, but there is still plenty of time to have a family picnic. Don’t forget to invite your elderly relatives! Here are some tips for including everyone in your family, from DealDash.

With the nice summer weather still upon us, you will likely be thinking of something fun to do with your family. One thing that would be a great deal of fun is going on a family picnic. This is a great activity that includes everyone from the youngest toddler to the oldest grandparent. Here are some tips for planning a great family picnic, from DealDash.

Who’s Coming to the Picnic?

You will first need to decide who all is going to be going to your picnic. This is important so you will be able to figure out how much food to prepare and how many supplies like paper plates and utensils that you will need to bring. This way you know you will have enough of everything for the picnic.

Prepare the Food According to Who is Coming

Next you will want to decide what to prepare for the picnic. You will want to try and make offerings that everyone is going to enjoy as well as being able to eat. Again, getting a head count of people coming to the picnic will assist you in being able to know exactly how much food you need to prepare for the picnic.

If you have toddlers or other picky children coming you might want to adjust your menu to have a few offerings for them. Personally, I know of a few kids (not mine!) who strictly eat chicken nuggets and fruit, so if you have a family member coming that is similar, make sure that there is something for them to eat.

Choose a Location

You will also need to find a place to have the picnic. Will you have it in your backyard or are your planning on going somewhere like a park to enjoy a day out with your family? If you are going somewhere other than your own home you will want to make sure you have paid any required fees for enjoying the space.

Additionally, if you are having family join you that are very young or very old it can help determine where you have your picnic as well. Having a picnic site that you have to hike to get to, or having a picnic directly on the beach sand might be impossible with a baby or elderly family member.

Invite the Family Early

Make sure that you invite everyone that you want to come to the picnic with enough time for them to reply. This way you will have the best chance of everyone being able to come to your family picnic. This is especially important if you have an elderly family member that lives in an assisted living facility. You will need to make sure of the days and times that you will be able to sign them out that won’t conflict with their schedule.

Thanks for Reading

So there you go, that is pretty much all there is to planning a family picnic to include everyone. You are going to find that planning in advance is going to help your picnic go a lot more smoothly than if you were to have done no planning at all.
