The great news is that the holidays don’t need to be like this as there are many things that you can do to reduce stress. This will help you and your family enjoy the holidays more. The following are a few examples, from DealDash.

Learn to Say “No” Sometimes

You should most definitely realize your limitations during the holidays and learn to say no if something is too much. You need to remember that you can’t do everything and be happy with what you can do. Being happy with your limitations during the holidays will save you a great deal of stress. This will allow you to enjoy your time with friends and family more.

Keeping your expectations in check will have you prepared to deal with things even if they don’t go perfectly. And really, most people won’t even notice if things don’t go perfectly. Most people are their own worst critics.

Be Organized, Be Happy

Try to be as organized as possible during the holidays. Make lists so that you won’t end up duplicating tasks. Being organized is so important as you will be certain you are doing everything that needs to get done without forgetting something. If you are disorganized you will be inviting stress that you do not need into your holiday season. So plan to get as organized as possible before it is time to get ready for a holiday. And better yet, once you are organized with a list, you can start delegating out tasks to your spouse or children.

These skills will come in to be very useful when they are older. These skills will assist them in being able to do things like showering, feeding themselves and getting dressed on their own. Kids as young as two years old can enjoy doing crafts that can help their fine motor skills such as stringing large beads or macaroni noodles onto a string to make a necklace.

Crafts will encourage creativity and imagination in your child. They will allow your child to be able to think of different ways to do things and really be able to explore their imagination. Some examples might be how to cut different shapes using scissors or how to make different colors by mixing paint.

Open-Ended and Age-Appropriate

Crafts are a very open-ended activity. Your kids can enjoy doing crafts with you or their friends. Or they can even do an age appropriate craft project on their own. It is a fantastic way to bond with friends and family. It’s also a wonderful way to spend time on their own when they are bored and looking for something fun to do. DealDash Helps Your Child Get Over Test Anxiety

DealDash

For many kids, school is open, or will be very soon. With school comes tests, and with tests can come anxiety. DealDash has some tips to help.

With school back in session, your child will soon be taking tests. Unfortunately for many kids tests bring about a huge amount of anxiety. There are a variety of reasons why kids suffer from test anxiety so you want to help them as soon as you discover the issue. Here are some ways to help ease test anxiety in your children, from DealDash.

What’s the Problem?

You should try to determine exactly what is causing the anxiety to happen. Are they simply afraid of getting a bad grade on a test? Or are they thinking farther ahead and feeling like they will not get the career that they want with a bad test grade? You need to find out exactly what is bothering them so you know how to best help them. With younger kids, sometimes the reassurance that “doing their best” is all that you need can take away some of that anxiety.

Just Relax!

Helping your child relax is something that you can do to help ease test anxiety. There are many things that you can do to accomplish this for your child. You can enjoy a snack with them and talk, watch a favorite television show and even offer to help them study. Anything you can think of doing would be helpful. Another great way to help your child relax is to color with them. Some of the adult coloring books they have out now are great for all ages and are very relaxing.

Get Help From Teacher

Getting the teacher involved may also be required if you can’t take care of things at home. They may have resources that you can make use of in order to ease anxiety in your child. It might just be nice to have the extra support for your child. They may be able to make some accommodations for your child when it is time to take a test to make things less stressful for them. Your child’s teacher can also steer you in the direction of the school counselor if your child needs it.

Thanks for Reading

School can be difficult for kids so if they are having test anxiety you want to offer as much help as possible. This way they will be able to focus better and hopefully do well on the tests that they will be taking this school year.

DealDash Crafts: Sewing Basket Basics

DealDash

If you would like to get started with a sewing hobby you’re going to need some basics. Here is a guide from DealDash as to what should go into your sewing basket.

When you require sewing supplies to stitch on a fast button or fix a ripped seam, every house must have a basic sewing basket at the ready for those times. By having a stitching basket with all of your fundamental sewing basics in one location, you can be ready for any little sewing emergency which may emerge. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

The Basket

The very first thing you will require to have is a sewing basket itself. By having numerous compartments you can keep your sewing basket in order and totally free from mess. You will want to choose a basket that is large and has compartments for all of your notions.

Sharp Scissors

Trying to snip cloth with dull scissors is one of the most discouraging things you can do when you are stitching. Having a sharp pair of scissors readily available without having to hunt around the home for them. Therefore, a sharp pair of scissors is needed for any sewing basket.

In addition to regular scissors, pinking shears are needed as well. They are a unique kind of scissors. They cut material so that the edges are zig-zagged. This zig-zagging help to keep fabric edges from tearing. If you will be dealing with a fabric with a tendency to fray, such as satin, you will find that pinking shears make your life a whole lot easier. They are not a must, but if you sew often you might want to invest in a pair.

Pins and Needles

In your sewing box, you will want to have extremely sharp needles and some which are blunt ended. You will want hand sewing needles as well as sewing machine needles if you use a sewing machine. In addition to needles, you will need to have plenty of pins as well. They can hold things together while you are stitching them.

A pink holder for your pins is a must. Instead of a conventional fabric pin cushion, a magnetic pin holder can make your use of needles and pins simpler. Likewise, when you are finished for the day, you can simply wave your magnetic pin holder over your work area. This will draw up all the roaming pins. You don’t want them ending up on the carpet and in someone’s foot (or a pet or child’s mouth!). A magnetic pin holder is a staple for any sewing basket.

Thread Spools

No sewing basket is complete without threads of many colors. The last thing you want to do is discover yourself requiring to stitch on a dark button and only having white thread to do it with. You need to have a large supply of both black and white, and at least one spool of navy, gray, brown, red, light and dark blue thread.

Odds and Ends

A stitch gauge looks like a small ruler with a moving gage on it. The stitch gauge is utilized to assist you to determine as well as to assist you in sewing straight lines and hems. This is not a “must have” but it is a nice addition to your basket.

Taylor’s chalk is used for making markings on your material. The chalk is quickly removed from your final product by brushing it away. You should have both light and dark taylor’s chalk.

Anti-fraying solution can be used to the edges of your material. This is to keep it from fraying either permanently or temporarily. The tube looks like super glue and can safely be used on the majority of materials. Spot check a small area first to determine if you can use it on your material.

Thanks for Reading

So keep all of this information in mind when you are looking to fill up your sewing basket. You will be prepared for any sewing emergency or task if you take the time to equip your sewing basket with the above items. And, you can be the hero of your house when a button falls off  right before you leave for a family event that you don’t want to be late to arrive!

All of these crafting supplies including cloth and notions can be purchased at a big box store such as Wal-Mart. DealDash has gift cards to Wal-Mart which is an a perfect place to get these sewing notions and supplies.

DealDash Crafts with String and Rope

DealDash

Crafting is fun but supplies can be expensive. Let’s try crafting with string or rope. Read on for more information from DealDash.

If you are looking for some fun and inexpensive crafts to do with your kids this summer consider using rope or string. There are many different crafts you can do with these items including the following, from DealDash.

Make a Rug – Fun and Functional

You can create a fun looking rug that could be used anywhere in the house. You could use rope to do so. Colorful is fun, so you can use a variety of different colors of rope. Alternately, you could use one single color. All you have to do is continue to form the rope into the shape that you are looking to make while hot gluing it together. These rugs are very sturdy and can be used anywhere in the house that you like.

Pencil Holders or Vases

Another thing that you could do with rope or string is to decorate empty cans. You can make anything from pencil holders to a place to plant a flower or some herbs. Again you just have to wrap the rope or string around the can while hot gluing it together. You can make a lot of different looks depending on the type of string or rope that you are using.

Make a Nautical Trash Can

If you are looking to add some interest to the trash cans around your home you can wrap rope around them. This will give them a cool nautical feel. You would follow the same steps as you would doing this with a can.

Macrame is Making a Comeback

Another rather simple craft that you can do with rope and string is called macrame. Macrame is the process of making knots in order to make things like pot holders. You and your children can even make bracelets using thin string. You have a lot of choices with this craft and you can find a lot of patterns on the internet.

Thanks for Reading

As you can see there are all kinds of things that you can do with rope or string that will help keep kids busy for an afternoon. The great part is you can make these awesome crafts very inexpensively.

DealDash Helps Lower Back Pain

DealDash

Lower back pain is a huge problem for a large part of the population. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash.

Are you one of the hundreds of thousands of Americans with pain in your lower back? Millions of people worldwide suffer from pain in their lower back, but that doesn’t mean that you have to just accept the pain in your life. No matter if it’s from an injury, illness, or just plain old-fashioned aging, lower back pain can be soothed with the right treatment. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to help you.

Diagnose the Problem

Before you figure out a treatment plan for your back pain, you need to figure out why your back is in pain. There are many reasons why you might be having lower back pain such as poor posture, an accident or injury, aging, weight gain, arthritis, or something else. The best thing for you to do is to go see your doctor so they can diagnose your problem, and give you some pointers for at-home treatment. If your problem is more serious they might suggest physical therapy or even surgery.

Work on Your Posture

If you have a serious back injury correcting your posture won’t fix it, but if your particular back pain originates from bad posture, then this could completely take away your lower back pain. The lower back is particularly susceptible to pain caused by bad posture. This is because your lower back supports a large portion of your weight. According to WebMD, here is the key to having good posture:

From the side: Your earlobe, the tip of your shoulder, your hip, your knee, and your ankle should make a straight line, separating the front of your body from the back.

From the front: Your shoulders and hips should be level, your kneecaps facing ahead, your ankles straight, head not tilted.

Check yourself throughout the day and adjust. (Your mom was also right about practice makes perfect.)

Practice “standing tall” and breathing from your diaphragm.  Not only is this good for body is does wonders for appearance.

Get Instant Pain Relief

If you need some instant pain relief, luckily there are plenty of over-the-counter medications that can make your lower back pain feel much better. Take over-the-counter ibuprofen as directed by the package. Ibuprofen will help ease any inflammation and help control the pain on a chemical level. Aspirin will make your back feel better quickly. Please be sure to keep your medications out of the hands of children, aspirin is especially dangerous for children.

DealDash Explains Rain Barrels

DealDash Do you have a rain barrel to capture rain to use on your lawn and garden? If not, it’s a smart way to conserve both water and money.

Have you ever thought about having a rain barrel for your home? Basically, a rain barrel is a way to collect rainwater that lands on your house and goes down your gutters so you can use it later. The idea is to place a rain barrel below one (or more) of the gutter spouts on your home and use a spigot to get the water. A rain barrel is easy to set up with some supplies that are available at Lowe’s or another hardware store. Please don’t use your collected rainwater for drinking. The rainwater can be used to water plants, water the lawn, or to wash your car or deck. Let DealDash explain rain barrels to you.

Where Will You Place Your Barrel?

You can place your barrel under any of the gutter downspouts on your home. However, there are definitely advantages and disadvantages of where you choose to place it. For example, most people would prefer to place their barrel on the back side of their house rather than in the front. Also, keep in mind that the rain barrel will be hundreds of pounds when it’s full of water, so you’ll want to place it in a place where it’s easy to access and in close proximity to where you will want to use the water.

What Kind of Barrel to Use

A rain barrel,  simply put, is a barrel with a hole in the top that collects water from the gutter downspout on your home. The fancy ones have filtration systems, but if you’re just using the water to water your plants or the lawn that doesn’t really matter too much. You will want to be sure that there is a screen on the opening, though, so that no little critters decide to jump in for a swim.

You can pick up a standard 55-gallon rain barrel from Lowes or a similar hardware store. This is the best way to go about it, though you can get creative with a wine barrel or other large barrel that you have in your possession.

Catch the Overflow

A commercially made rain barrel will always have a spigot and/or drain valve near the bottom to connect a hose to or fill a bucket from. The rain barrel should also have a way to control overflow, this is quite important.

It’s important to control the overflow because if you don’t then the water is just going to spill out of the barrel when it’s full and it will pool around the foundation of your house, which isn’t good. You can either drill a small hole at the top of your rain barrel and attach a hose leading away from the house so when the barrel is almost full it will start diverting the water elsewhere – or you can even buy a second rain barrel and divert the water into it so you won’t lose any of the precious water that you have collected.

Thanks for Reading

Finally, thanks so much for reading this new DealDash article on rain barrels. Good luck in getting yours set up. It’s a great way to save money on your water and sewer bill for your home.

DealDash Helps: Begin Journaling

DealDash

Journaling is good for your mental health and well-being. Here are some tips for getting started from DealDash.

Have you ever tried keeping a journal? If you haven’t tried journal writing yet, or you have but let it fall by the wayside, or just didn’t really get into it, there is no time like the present to try again. Journaling is a nice hobby that you can do from anywhere, is practically free, and is very fun to look back on years down the line. Here are some tips and ideas to help you, from DealDash.

Find a Journal

Your journal can be as inexpensive as a spiral notebook from the dollar store, or as expensive as you choose. One of the great things about a journal is that you can take it anywhere with you, just stick it in your purse, pocket, backpack, or laptop case. You don’t need an electrical plug or wi-fi, or anything other than just your paper and pen.

However, some people enjoy buying fancy journals with thick paper. And other people like to buy journals pre-printed with the date so it reminds them to write a little bit every day. That’s another thing that’s great about journaling – it’s totally customizable.

What Will You Write About?

Personally, I am the type of person who likes to buy the journals with the pre-printed dates. It has enough space to write just a little bit about your day, and it’s not overwhelming at all. Honestly, completely blank journals make me feel a little anxious like I should be writing lots and lots, so the ones with just a few lines per day are perfect for me.

Other people prefer to have pages with lines so they can make lists, ideas, and inventions. Other people like the kind with lines to write poetry or music. And yet there are other people who like their journals to be completely blank so they can draw or tape in pictures. That’s the wonderful thing about journaling, it’s completely up to you how you would like to do it.

When Will You Write?

You can write anytime, day or night. Some people like to have a strict schedule of writing in their journal, such as immediately upon waking, or right before bed. Other people don’t write in their journals every day, only when the mood strikes them. There is no right or wrong time to write in your journal.

DealDash Helps Ease Seasonal Allergies

dealdash allergies Seasonal allergies affect approximately 50 million people in the US. Chances are, you or a family member are affected. Here are some tips from DealDash to help.

First of all, there’s no getting around seasonal allergies altogether. Even with medications, you will still feel some mild symptoms. The good news is, though, that you can greatly reduce the worst symptoms in a variety of different ways. Read on to find out how.

Natural Remedies

If your allergy symptoms are already on the mild side, why not try some natural remedies before you use medication? Natural remedies are more gentle on your body than medications, and some of them are quite pleasant.

Eucalyptus has a smell that can clear your nasal passages naturally. Try inhaling steam from water with eucalyptus oil added to it or using an oil diffuser with eucalyptus oil added.

Another great essential oil that you can use to ease your allergy symptoms is frankincense. This essential oil can boost the immune system, and if you suffer from seasonal allergies, it’s a wonderful addition to your natural health regimen.

A neti pot is another great natural remedy to use for any sort of nasal congestion, whether it’s from allergies or from a cold. A neti pot uses warm salt water to clean out your nasal passages and can be quite effective. You can purchase a neti pot at most big box stores and pharmacies.

Antihistamine Medications Can Help

If natural remedies aren’t cutting it, then it’s time to step-up your allergy regimen with some over-the-counter medication. Using oral antihistamines can improve your drippy nose and itchy and watery eyes. Another great form of antihistamine is nasal. Nasal antihistamine spray can reduce sneezing, stuffy sinuses, and all things allergy related for the nose. The final antihistamine medication I would like to mention is antihistamine drops for the eyes. Antihistamine eye drops can improve itchy, swollen, and red eyes.

DealDash Likes Cheap Travel

DealDash Budget Travel

Now’s the time to think about booking Spring travel. Here are some handy tips from DealDash to travel on the cheap.

Travel can be fun, exciting, interesting, educational, and expensive. If you’re a fan of DealDash, then you must love to save money! Travel, especially within the US, definitely doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Here are some tips on how to save some cash when you want to travel.

Book Early

You can get a much better deal if you book early, and you also have the added benefit of being able to choose from a much bigger array of seating choices (for most airlines.) I have also read that Tuesdays are the best day to book flights for the lowest prices. Here’s an extra tip – before you book your flight clear your “cookies” on your computer. You might end up with a better price.

Travel Light

Now that most airlines are charging to check a bag, it makes sense to try to skip checking a bag. Most airlines let you bring a carry-on bag and a personal bag such as a purse, laptop bag, or backpack. If you’re traveling with a child, make the most of their space as well – if they have a seat on the plane then they are entitled to both of those items as well. DealDash has some awesome carry-on bags, backpacks, purses, laptop bags, and toiletry bags up for auction.

Check Out Travel Forums

If you take the time to check out some travel forums you can read where people have reviewed different hotels, so you can try to find a discounted hotel that is still clean and comfortable. If you browse around the travel forums you can also read where people have reviewed activities as well, so you can find fun things to do on a budget.

Most of us would rather turn the alarm off and go back to bed, but we have to get up anyway. You might have to get ready for work, get your kids ready, make everyone lunches to go – the possibilities are practically endless. Here are some handy tips from DealDash to get your day started right.

Water

Water. Fresh water is your best friend in the morning. Delicious, clear water boosts your metabolism and hydrates your body. If you’re the kind of person who can sleep straight through the night without getting up to get a drink or go to the bathroom, it’s especially important to rehydrate as soon as you wake up. Try to drink a big glass of water in the morning right after waking up. Here’s a tip- keep a water bottle by your bed with your morning water inside; that way it will be waiting for you when your alarm goes off. After you’ve had your water you can go about the rest of your morning routine, taking a shower, having breakfast, etc.

Skin

Skin. Take care of your skin in the morning. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, use a toner to re-balance your skin’s ph level, and then put on a moisturizer with SPF inside. This quick 5-minute skin routine will make your skin look and feel great all day. If you’re not sure what kind of skin care products to buy, check out the product reviews on Target or Wal*Mart’s website. DealDash’s New Year List

screenshot-10

There are only a few short weeks left in the year. Here are 5 things you need to do before 2017 arrives.

How was your 2016? Mine was eventful – I had a baby boy, my daughter started school, my older son has been diagnosed with ADHD, it’s been a busy year! However, even though life has been busy, there are still a few things that need to be done before we say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017. Join me in doing DealDash’s 5 things before the new year.

1 – Organize your family’s closets. Dig out all of those too small, too tight, or too big clothing, those worn shoes, and those clothing gifts that you have never even worn. Donate them all and be proud of yourself for cleaning your house and helping others at the same time. Don’t forget to ask for a receipt at the donation drop-off, you can use that as a charitable donation on your taxes in April.Organize your “online life.” If you’re like many people, you probably have hundreds or even thousands of pictures cluttering up your online cloud, your computer, or your cell phone. Seriously, do you really need 126 pictures of your meals at different restaurants? Sure, they’re fun to post onto Instagram or Facebook when you’re actually at the restaurant so your friends can see what you’re doing, but once you’ve posted it why bother keeping the photo?

2 – Organize your “online life.” If you’re like many people, you probably have hundreds or even thousands of pictures cluttering up your online cloud, your computer, or your cell phone. Seriously, do you really need 126 pictures of your meals at different restaurants? Sure, they’re fun to post onto Instagram or Facebook when you’re actually at the restaurant so your friends can see what you’re doing, but once you’ve posted it why bother keeping the photo? And those of you with little kids that are hard to photograph – I know that you take about 20 blurry pictures to get 1 good one! Get rid of those blurry pictures that are cluttering up your cloud.

3 – Think of a few goals for 2017. They don’t need to be your typical resolution-type goals such as exercising or cutting back on drinking. They could be things that are more fun and personal to you such as making sure that you reach out to far-away friends once a month, or to learn to knit or to be a better driver. There are lots of things that you probably want to do a little differently next year, so make a list.

4 – Get a free credit report. Make sure that everything on your credit report is accurate and up to date. There are many free credit report websites and apps available, do your due diligence and read reviews on the companies before you request your report. You’ll be glad that you got your report and cleared up any mistakes so you can go forward into 2017 without worrying about it!

5 – Bid on DealDash. Do you have a bunch of bids hanging out on your account that you haven’t used yet? Bid on some great items and gift cards and clear them out for the new year so you can start fresh.

I hope that you found this DealDash Reviewed article helpful. Be sure to check out DealDash for all of the latest home items, electronics, kids items, and more. DealDash has so many things to discover. Visit DealDash now. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash’s Favorite Ways to Say Thanks

Image result for ways to say thank you

There are so many different ways to say “Thank you.” Here are a few for you to use.

If you normally just say “Thank you.” When someone does you a favor, or goes above and beyond for you, why not do something a little more special for them? They will appreciate it very much, and will make them even more likely to do other nice things for you in the future. Remember, it’s always nice to be nice!

One of the easiest ways to thank someone other than just saying it is to get them a card and write a special message inside. You can get a card that is specific to the reason that you are thanking the person, or a more generic one that you can write in the reason yourself. In fact, if you would like to be cost-effective and plan on sending lots of thank you notes, buy a multi-pack of blank cards and save them for the next time that you would like to send someone a thank you card.

If you would like to go above and beyond just a card, why not send them a gift card as a thank you. Luckily for you, our favorite auction website, DealDash, offers gift cards for auction! DealDash has gift card auctions every single day, and I have seen them go for pennies on the dollar. However, if you don’t happen to win you can always BIN (Buy It Now), and get all of your bids back, free shipping, and get to keep the clock time that you accrued while being the highest bidder.

Another great way to give someone a special thank you is to make them something – especially something sweet and delicious. Baking someone cookies or a cake is a wonderful way to say thank you. If you’re not the baking sort, picking up a dozen cookies or donuts at the bakery is always nice as well.

Finally, if the above ideas don’t appeal to you, how about winning a piece of art or jewelry as a thank you to your friend or family member? DealDash has a nice assortment of art, as well as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings up for auction. If you need a special thank you gift for someone, just click this link here to visit DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone! Image result for things to do to say thank you

If you are looking for a fun trip to take with the kids (or even by yourself!) Mystic, CT is a great choice. There are lots of interesting attractions for young and old alike.

You might be familiar with Mystic, CT from the classic 1988 movie Mystic Pizza starring Julia Roberts. While Mystic does have excellent pizza, they also have a host of other fun and engaging activities for all ages.

Displaying 20160722_170222.jpg

Mystic Aquarium – Let’s start out with my favorite, the Mystic Aquarium! The Mystic Aquarium is home to the North East’s only Beluga Whales. The photo above is my daughter interacting with a Beluga on our trip to the aquarium this summer. The Mystic Aquarium also has penguins, sting rays, a 4-D theater, and an extremely interactive bird exhibit that allows you to enter the bird enclosure to feed and hold the birds, if you are able to catch them. The Mystic Aquarium gets an A+ in my book for fun and entertainment.

Olde Mistick Village – The Olde Mistick Village isn’t worth a trip on its own, in my opinion, but it shares a parking lot with the Mystic Aquarium, so it’s definitely worth a look if you are visiting the aquarium, anyway. The Olde Mistick Village is a quaint little collection of shops located in a small walking area with some green areas, a very small duck pond, and a few restaurants. If you’re looking for a unique gift to bring back to someone from your trip to Mystic, you might be able to find it here.

Image result for mystic-seaport Mystic Seaport – Mystic Seaport is an excellent large indoor/outdoor maritime museum. Mystic Seaport was founded in 1929, and is the resting place of the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world. Expect to spend at least a half day, or even a full day at Mystic Seaport. Mystic Seaport has a ton of activities, especially in the summer season, including a re-created 19th-century seafaring village, a working preservation shipyard, gardens,  a planetarium, and a children’s museum. You can also take a boat tour and explore the historic Mystic River from May through October. Mystic Seaport didn’t sound very fun and exciting to me when I was reading about it online, but when we visited in person it was actually very fun. The children’s museum was probably my kid’s favorite part, and I enjoyed the planetarium very much.

I hope that this article has gotten you excited to travel and explore. If you can’t make it out to Mystic, CT, why not take a short trip to somewhere closer to you? If you’re going on a trip, I suggest stocking up on gift cards from DealDash. Gift cards are great to take when you are travelling, and if you bid on gift cards on DealDash you can earn clock time for being the highest bidder. If you don’t win you can just BIN (Buy It Now) for face value, get free shipping, and get all of your bids back to use another day. Here is a link to get gift cards from DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

5 End of Summer Ideas from DealDash

There is just a little bit of summer left before the kids go back to school, here are 5 things that you should do before summer is over.

It’s been a great summer, but all great things must come to an end…At least until next summer, anyway! Here are 5 things that you should definitely do before summer has officially come to an end.

  1. Go to the beach!! Have you been to the beach yet this year? If you haven’t, it’s definitely time to go. I personally haven’t been this summer, I stayed at home with my baby when the rest of the family went, so this is something that I am going to have to correct over the next few weekends. It’s getting slightly less hot here in New England, so I think it’s about time that the baby gets his first trip to the beach!
  2. Have a picnic. Picnics are always a great time. I personally like to go to a place called Salem Willows, they have a little boardwalk area, a lot of picnicking space, benches, trees, and even a view of the water. It’s a wonderful place to bring a picnic lunch, walk around, and then to go the boardwalk and get ice cream.
  3. Shop for summer clothing for next year. They are starting to put the fall and winter clothing out in the stores now, so it’s a great time to shop the clearance racks for summer clothing that you and your family can wear next year. I was just at Target tonight, and I was able to get many, many t-shirts, shorts, sandals, and dresses for my kids for insane deals, from $1-4 dollars! It was amazing. Now is the time to do your shopping, though, if you wait too much longer all of the best deals will be gone.
  4. Have your friends over for a BBQ. A BBQ is a fun and relatively inexpensive way to have a party with your friends. All you need is some frozen hamburger patties, hot dogs, buns, chips, and some beer & soda and you are all set! You can minimize the mess by using paper plates, plastic utensils, and solo cups. It’s not the most eco-friendly way to party, but all of those items are recyclable, anyway.
  5.  Have a backyard camp out with your kids.  I am personally not one to “rough it” in the outdoors too much, but camping in your backyard is a great compromise with your kids if they want to go camping. You can pitch your tent on your deck or in your backyard, get out the flashlights and tell spooky stories, enjoy the sights and sounds of the night, look at the stars…And still be able to go inside and use the bathroom, win-win!

I hope that this list has you thinking of some ways to stretch out the fun just a little bit more this summer. Now that you have a few ideas, you might need to buy some supplies. DealDash has Target gift cards, BBQ grills, and camping supplies. It’s always fun to play and win on DealDash, just click this link right here and you can get started. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Crafts: Room Sprays

Would you like your home to smell amazing, but you have pets or little kids that make it smell not so great? Are those pets and children also the reason why you don’t want to use too many chemicals in your home? Try making your own room spray.

Making your own room spray for your home is really very simple. You can use many different essential oils to make an almost endless variety of scents. I’ll give you a basic recipe to get started, you only need a few things and you will be on your way to a great smelling home with no harsh and irritating chemicals.

Materials:

  • Small spray bottle – they have these in the travel section at Target and many other stores. Glass or plastic is fine.
  • Witch hazel. You can also use vodka, but why waste vodka?
  • Distilled water
  • Mason jar or other similar jar with a lid
  • Small funnel
  • Essential oil(s) of your choice

Directions:

  1. Add 2 ounces of witch hazel to your mason jar.
  2. Add your essential oil(s) to the witch hazel. Put 20 drops of any of your oils.
  3. Shake, shake, shake!
  4. Using your tiny funnel, pour the mixture into your spray bottle. Add an additional 2 ounces of distilled water.
  5. Add a label outlining how many drops of which essentials oils are inside in case you would like to make the same mixture again.
  6. Spray, then breathe in the nice fresh scent of your home.

If you are having trouble figuring out which essential oils to use in your room spray, here are a few ideas:

  • Citrus & Mint –
  • 8 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 12 drops wild orange essential oil

  • Freshening and Deodorizing-
  • 4 drops tea tree oil
  • 8 drops lemon essential oil
  • 8 drops eucalyptus essential oil

  • Relaxing in Bed-
  • 8 drops lavender
  • 12 drops vanilla

If you aren’t sure you are going to like the scents that you are mixing up or not, just add 1 drop of each of the oils at first, and if you aren’t crazy about the scent that it makes when it’s mixed together then just finish off the 20 drops with the scent that you like better. It won’t be as exciting a mixture, but it will avoid having to throw out your mixture, as 1 drop of an oil with 19 drops of another oil will smell almost 100% like the 19 drops, with just the slightest hint of the 1 drop’s scent.

I hope that this article has gotten you thinking about what sorts of yummy scents that you can make into room sprays for your home. If you haven’t yet purchased any essential oils, they are available at a great price from both Target and Wal*Mart. Conveniently, DealDash offers gift cards for both Target and Wal*Mart for auction. Go ahead and check out DealDash’s Gift Card category for Target and Wal*Mart gift cards. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Makes: a Pillow iPod Stand

You might not realize how much you need an iPad pillow stand until you have one. Here is a quick and easy lesson to get you started on your road to comfort with your iPad as your co-pilot.

The iPad pillow stand will cushion the iPad and keep it standing, and it will also be a very comfortable stand that can be placed on your lap or stomach while you are reading, FaceTiming, or browsing on DealDash.

Materials:

  • Pattern
  • large piece of soft and comfortable yet sturdy cloth for the pillow’s exterior – This should measure at least 16 inches long and 45 inches wide
  • Scissors
  • Chalk or a fabric pencil
  • Sewing needle and thread
  • Box cutter/Razor knife
  • Ruler
  • Large chunk of craft foam for the soft body of the pillow – You can get this at a craft, hobby, or sewing store
  • Sewing machine (optional)

Instructions:

  • The first thing that you are going to need is a pattern. You can get the pattern from this link right here: http://blog.ipevo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/PadPillow_sewing_pattern.pdf
  • Print out the pattern from the link. It will print the size that you need. Cut out the pattern, trace around them on your fabric with the chalk, and then cut out the sections from the cloth with the scissors.
  • Follow the directions that are enclosed in the pattern .pdf. You can then sew the pieces together using a sewing machine or the needle and thread. When you’re done sewing all three fabric cutouts together, you’ll have the basic shape of the iPad pillow stand. There will be an unsewn space in the back of the pillow to allow you to stuff the foam inside the fabric stand.
  • Next you need to cut the pieces of craft foam. Cut the first piece of craft foam using a ruler and box-cutter-type knife. This smaller piece should measure 12.6 x 9.1 x 1.6 inches.
  • After you have cut the basic shape and size then you need to shave down one side of the foam piece to form a semi-triangular shape instead of than leaving it as a simple rectangle.
  • After you’re done with the first piece of foam, cut the second triangular piece of foam. This larger piece should measure 6.3 x 5.7 x 12.6 inches where 6.3 inches is the base of the triangle, 5.7 inches is the height, and 12.6 inches is the length.
  • Next, put them into the fabric cover that you have sewn. Just add them one at a time, shoving them in through the opening of the fabric cover.
  • Lastly, sew up the seam that you have left open.

See, simple, easy, and fun! If you are looking for a project to do with your child, this would be a fun one, as long as your child is responsible enough to use the sharp materials. Please supervise your children closely.

DealDash Helps: Budget Road Trip

Summer is a perfect time to go on vacation, but what if you don’t have the money? Budget road trips can be just as fun.

Normally my family goes on a vacation every year. We’ve been to Bermuda, San Diego, Tampa, and Montreal to name a few. However this year we have a new baby so we decided to stay a little closer to home. While planning our summer vacation this year I noticed how much money we were going to be saving by not going too far outside of New England. As a challenge to myself I decided to see exactly how frugal I could be in my vacation planning and still show the kids a great time. On to the savings!

First of all, forget flying. We were originally thinking about going to Salt Lake City, but plane tickets alone for my family of 5 was going to be in the range of $4,000 for the times we wanted to go, so we decided that this year was going to be a road trip only kind of trip. When you are thinking about road-tripping on a budget, the first thing that you want to think about is what is the maximum distance that you are willing to travel, or even more budget-friendly, what is the maximum distance that you can travel in one day so you can avoid staying in multiple different hotels.

The maximum distance that we decided on was 500 miles, which is a full 8-ish hours of travel. So then we looked to see where we could go in that mileage range and came up with New York, Washington DC, Maryland, Philadelphia, and Providence.  This is really easy to look up using Google Maps.

How will we get a discount on our gas? By using DealDash, of course! You can get a Shell gas card from DealDash by bidding, and if you don’t win you can always BIN (But It Now), get all of your bids back, keep the clock time that you earned by being the highest bidder, AND get free shipping on your gift card. Shell also has a loyalty card that you can get for free, and it will give you .03 off per gallon every time that you use it. It’s not much, but it adds up! If you would like to bid on a Shell gift card you can click this link right here and it will take you to the Shell cards on DealDash.

Now that the gas is taken care of, how about hotels? DealDash offers a variety of hotel gift cards that you can bid on. The hotel gift cards are the same deal as the gas gift cards – if you don’t win you can always BIN (But It Now), get all of your bids back, keep the clock time that you earned by being the highest bidder, AND get free shipping on your gift card. You can check out all of the hotel gift cards that DealDash has at this link right here.

I hope that this article has inspired you to think about going on a budget road trip this year with the help of DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

Gift Cards or Gift Certificates?

While several company owner see the opportunities as well as the raised revenues that gift certificates offer, their close relative the plastic stays an uniqueness among little and also average organizations. Luckily for you DealDash always has a ton of gift cards available at any time.

gift cards

These handy little plastic gift cards are widely accepted and can be used at most major grocery stores, nationwide stores and also chain stores, however they provide a host of benefits along with simply looking better than a certificate! We go through the reasons you want a gift card rather than a gift certificate below.

Worth representation

You could analyze this as an expensive means of saying ‘they look better’… yet in regards to actual revenue potential, something that represents a higher worth to customers is a lot more most likely to be acquired. Customers have a gift which is a lot more presentable, simpler for their recipient to carry and also could develop its own ambience, depending on exactly what art work you choose for your printing. That means you’ll market more.

Burglary is not a problem

Any gift cards you’ll find or even receive have no worth till they are activated at the register. Your plastic card manufacturer can add a barcode or magnetic red stripe to your item, which is scanned at the register and also pairs up with the matching entrance in the store. That certain present card’s digital imprint can be ‘turned on’ in the central database, offering the card its appreciate. A taken card could not be made use of – a stolen gift certification could possibly cost your firm quite a great deal of cash.

POS systems are not required for present card home security

Keep a document of each ‘numbered’ card which is marketed, as well as you can choose not to redeem cards that are not on the register unless come with an invoice. This makes plastic cards equally as protected without a point of sale system and barcode scanner similar to them. Card printing that does not need an magnetic stripe along the top is much cheaper, also.

Added protection makes in-store as well as POS present possible

Shops utilizing standard paper present certificates cannot display these at the point of sale, no matter just how good they look! Theft and forgery would certainly be an issue for paper gift certifications. Displaying those gift cards at the point of sale has actually been shown to increase impulse buys of the cards. publishing services could produce some quite appealing special effects as well as styles for your cards that aid in targeting these instinct buys to a niche of viewers – floral for ladies, cars for males, and also dolls for little females, as an example.

I think by now you can see the benefit of using a gift card vs. a gift certificate and now you can easily get cards at a massive discount whenever you need them by simply going to DealDash and making bids.

DealDash.com Gift Cards Make Room Renovation Possible

One thing I love most about DealDash.com is the huge variety of gift cards regularly included in its auctions. Two of my favorite gift cards are Bed, Bath & Beyond and Home Depot.

Of course, it is always nice to win those gift cards. Even if I do not win, however, and use the Buy-It-Now option (pay retail to get all my bids back free), I know it is money I would eventually have to spend, anyway. As a home owner, I know I will always need to shop at those two stores sooner or later.

I recently renovated and updated one of the guest rooms in my house and that can become rather expensive. Thankfully, the gift cards I won on DealDash.com nearly paid for everything I needed to get the job done, so I had very little out-of-pocket expense.

I used my Home Depot gift cards to buy paint for the ceiling and walls, as well as the paint rollers, brushes, tape and pans. My Home Depot gift cards also covered the steam cleaner I needed to steam clean the bedroom carpet.

I used my Bed, Bath & Beyond gift cards to purchase the duvet, mattress cover, sheet set, matching curtains, pillows, bed skirt, mirror, two scatter rugs and picture to hang on the wall.

Thanks to DealDash.com my renovated room looks awesome!

The mirror, curtains, duvet, pillows and picture on the wall were all purchased with Bed, Bath & Beyond gift cards from DealDash.com. The white and gray paint used on the ceiling and walls were purchased with Home Depot gift cards from DealDash.com. I won some of the cards and did a Buy-It-Now on the others. Regardless, it was money I would have spent, anyway, and the gift cards I won helped make it possible for me to renovate this bedroom.

DealDash Congratulations Winning Auctions

DealDash continues to excite me with everything I win on this site. However, there is some things that just seem like you bid on forever and still don’t win. So what do you do when having a difficult time winning auctions on DealDash.com?

I usually go with two options in this case.

1. I decide to go shopping with the gift cards I win on DealDash to simply buy anything I have difficulties winning or have not won.

2. I simply use the buy it now option on Deal Dash to get the item I wanted and my bids back.

I recently won a $100 Toys R Us gift card for $1.43 and used this to buy my kids a volleyball set for the backyard. This is one of the things I have bid on in the past, did not win and chose not to use the buy it now. My kids have been wanting one for a long time so we went shopping together and got just what we wanted!

I also won a $100 gift card to Walmart for just 1 penny!!! Yep, we had fun that day! 🙂 My kids got $50 each and we all went shopping together! They had so much fun!

I have saved so much money shopping on DealDash and winning gas cards or doing my food shopping from gift cards I receive. I mean it does not get any better than that! I also won a $100 BP gas card for 17 cents too!!! Which did more than just fill my tank up. 🙂

So some of you may ask, How does she do it???

It’s simple… you have to place your bids to win. I am a small bidder for the most part, if I don’t win within a few bids I’m out. If it is just me and one other person, I am all in and usually wont quit until I have no bids left. I don’t like wasting my bids when there is a lot of people in auction, I will move on to the next thing and so on. More often than not I see fireworks!!! It is so exciting!!

Save With Gift Cards On Deal Dash

giftcard deals on DealDash.com

The story starts… a long long time ago…Ok not really just 1 1/2 years ago I started bidding on Deal Dash.

Could it be possible for everyday working people to find some deals every now and then?  Step up to the plate people we now have Deal Dash!  Starting with less expensive items then working my way up I was bidding on everyday items and gift cards.
Here’s a way to do it.  Want to go to dinner but don’t really want to spend $50.00?  Bid on a gift card and save some money.  I have won gift cards for as low as 1 bid and up to 100 bids.  Average them out and you can still save a lot.  Some cards that come with bids actually will pay you to take the card. I won a 25 bids with $25.00 Fridays gift card for 22 bids, so they gave me the card and 3 bids. I also won a 30 bid back with $25.00 Applebees gift card for 12 bids, so they gave me the card and $2.70 back in bids. Gotta love that. That’s a way to take the family and a couple of friends out to dinner.
Need a short vacation. Get a gift card.  You have gas expenses and hotel rooms to pay for.  Some gas cards will be a little more challenging to win in the auction because everyone wants them.  But if you can win a few and BIN (Buy it Now) a few you can still save a lot. Bidding on hotel cards is the same. I have won a few and had to BIN a few but still managed to save at least 50%. So wouldn’t you want to go on a 1/2 price vacation?  I have managed to save and even paid for a friends hotel room a couple of times.
Do you need an item that DealDash doesn’t offer? Bid to win a gift card. There’s a round about way to do it. I needed a few items for home improvement like paint and molding. Bid on a Lowe’s or Home Depot card. Then go to the store. I even picked up filters for the ac and a few plants.  Do the same with the Amazon cards.  Then you can get anything you want.
Bidding for gift cards on DealDash.com is a great way to go!

Seeking Restaurant Gift Cards On DealDash

I have been bidding on DealDash since 2012. My reasons for seeking a particular auction prize has changed many times over the past two years. While my strategies have gotten much improved, my eye seeks prizes of different types from time to time.

My grandson is playing travel ball this summer and I will have many opportunities to go along to the special weekend tournaments. I love baseball and can’t wait for the spring to get here! Since I became aware of the many different locations we will be travelling to, I determined the best way to help my family would be to have alot of restaurant gift cards to take along for the trips.

DealDash offers a ton of different gift cards that can be used at restaurants in every state. My goal was to have enough Subway cards to feed all 5 of us on the road for my grandson’s travel games. I reached my goal within a few months by bidding on Subway gift cards (some come with additional bids too). I won some, I bought some, but the goal was reached and I am proud to offer the cards as my contribution to the road trip! In addition to Subway cards, I also collected Darden Restaurant cards for a nicer dinner in the evening, and added Burger King cards to the mix as well.

My family and I won’t have any problem finding a place to eat the entire summer and I have to thank DealDash for giving me a chance to win some, buy some, and get my bids back too!

How To Win Over $1000 In Gift Cards On DealDash

In just a few months I have won over $1000 in gift cards through DealDash auctions.

This includes a $100 Foot Locker gift card for 46 cents, $100 Walmart gift card for a penny, and many more.
I have found that gift cards are a very easy way to get your money back with DealDash. If you scroll through the winners page you will find that $25 and $50 gift cards often sell for under $2.00. When I buy a bid pack for 200 bids I can get one for $34 or so if they are on sale. By winning a $25 gift card for $1.00, I have almost received all of my money back. That frees me up to go after bigger things if I know I have most of my money back. The key here is not to go crazy! I use maybe 10 bids per gift card. If I win the card GREAT, If not I move on to the next one, THERE WILL BE A NEXT ONE.
Watch to see what gift cards have sold cheap in the last 24 hours or so. If they have sold for 50 cents once they will sell for 50 cents again. The question is… Will you be the next winner???
Good luck and don’t forget to use BID BUDDY.
Don’t be foolish with your bidding 😛
