DealDash Frugal: Organize Those Coupons!

DealDash

Being frugal can be fun when you use coupons. Here are some tips to keep things organized, from DealDash.

Coupons, if used wisely, can really assist in saving money on things like groceries. One problem many couponers run into that stops them from saving as much as they can is not having their coupons organized. Here are some ways you can keep your coupons neat and tidy, from DealDash.

Sort by Expiration

One thing that you should do to get your coupons organized is to sort them by expiration date. That way you will be able to know what coupons should be used when. Nothing would be worse than counting on savings from coupons only to find out that they have expired. You might want to consider writing the expiration date on them a little bigger or putting a sticky note on them with the expiration date. Sometimes the dates are very hard to read at a glance because they are so small.

Put them in a Binder Book

Getting a book to organize your coupons should be your next step. You should get a binder that is a workable size with clear pages so that you can easily access your coupons. This binder should one that easily take with you when you go shopping. Being frugal, you might want to wait until the “Back to School” sale at the store to get your binder. Until then you can just keep them in an envelope.

Sort them Often

You will want to sort through your coupons every so often so that you can get rid of any of them that may have expired. Again, this is so you do not run into a situation where you are counting on savings only to be disappointed  by expired coupons. Personally, I like to give my coupons a quick check every Sunday when I put the new ones in and take out the ones that I plan on using that day for my grocery shopping.

The Benefits of Coupon Organization

You will find that there are a great many benefits to keeping your coupons organized. First of you will be leaving good organizational skills. You will also be saving money of course and you can even turn your coupon collecting into a money making opportunity by doing things like teaching couponing classes. You can also do your kids a favor by teaching them this very useful skill.

Organizing your coupons is the first step in maximizing your savings and learning more about a very useful skill. Couponing with a little effort is actually a rather simple skill to learn. Tips From DealDash to Make Couponing Easier

DealDash

Do you love coupons? I know I do! Here are some tips from DealDash to make couponing go more smoothly.

Many people these days are looking for ways to stretch their monthly income so that there are able to do things like affording groceries all month or perhaps even starting a savings account. Using coupons is a great way to be able to save money on the items that you are already purchasing, namely the groceries that you purchase every month. Here are some ways to have the best possible experience when you take up couponing, from DealDash.

Figure Out a System

You need to develop a system that will make sense to you. There are many suggestions out there for what is the best system for taking care of coupons but you need to make sure that you select an organizational method that is going to be easy for you to understand. You will also want to get into a routine of making use of the same day each week to deal with the coupons that you want to use. Personally, I suggest an accordion-style folding wallet to keep your coupons in. Other people prefer binders or even just an envelope. Do what works best for you.

Get Rid of the Expired Ones

You will also want to purge expired coupons from your collection as often as possible. This way you do not run the risk of counting on savings that you are not going to be able to get. You need to make sure that you are always using coupons that are within their expiration date. Additionally, to be able to fully maximize your savings you need to avoid impulse purchasing and only buy what you need. If you buy things you do not need you are going to end up spending more and not saving money.

Learn the Ropes at Your Favorite Store

When you are just starting out with coupons start with your local grocery store. Learn all that you can about the store’s coupon policy and learn how to pair coupons with sales that the store may be having. You will soon develop a plan that will work for you in regards to using coupons so you can use it at other stores for other items that you need to purchase. Once you have mastered your local grocery store, you can move on to other stores. Try to just take it one store at a time so you don’t get the coupon policies confused.

DealDash Saves on Your Grocery Bill

Image result for save money groceries

DealDash likes to save you money on everything from electronics to baby toys, why not food? Here are some money-saving ideas for the supermarket.

Your grocery bill is probably one of your biggest household expenses each month, after your rent or mortgage and car payments. Luckily it’s also one of the easiest to cut down because you can always save a little here and a little there without feeling too much of a budget crunch. Here are some tips from DealDash to save money on your grocery bills.

Savings Start at Home

It’s true, saving money starts before you even leave your house to go shopping. I am far from an extreme couponer, but I do like to check my coupons before I go shopping to see if there’s anything that my family needs that I can save a little money by using a coupon. I also like to review the supermarket flier before I leave the house and write down any great sales that are going on.

Don’t Fall into the Coupon Trap

Yes, coupons are great and can save you a lot of money. However, it’s very easy to fall into the “coupon trap” of buying things that you don’t really need just because you have a coupon for that product.

Also, be sure to compare the store brand price to the price of the name brand item that you have the coupon for – the store brand still might be cheaper. Most store brand items taste the same, so it’s worth it to give the store brand a try. If you don’t like it you can always get the name brand one next time.

Stocking Up

It’s also helpful to look at how you buy – keep a running list of foods your family uses on a regular basis, and stock up your pantry when the prices are low. Buying foods in bulk can significantly reduce your cost per serving. Warehouse memberships don’t make sense for singles or most couples, but if you have 4+ people living in your home that you share meals with, warehouse memberships can pay for themselves after a few uses.

Don’t Be Lazy

As someone who would rather have extra free time than spend all day in the kitchen, I get it! Premade meals, frozen meals, and other convenience foods make life so much easier.  But cooking instead of just warming something up is typically cheaper and also much healthier for you and your family. If you’re short on time you can always make a stir fry. It only takes a few minutes to chop up the veggies, and if you have a rice cooker you have have a delicious and healthy meal on the table in about 20 minutes.
