DealDash Helps Take Care of Your Kitchen

DealDash

Having a beautiful and well-appointed kitchen is one thing, but do you know how to take care of your appliances? Here are some tricks and ideas from DealDash to keep everything in good order.

When you first move into a house the kitchen is typically sparkling clean. However, once your house is a little more “lived in” things can get dingy pretty quick, especially the kitchen. This is because tiny food particles get spread around the kitchen while you are cooking and can be tricky to get completely clean. Here are some tips from DealDash to keep everything clean and shiny.

Steam the Microwave

The only thing that you need to keep your microwave clean is lemon and water in a bowl. Simply slice the lemon and squeeze the juice into a little water in a bowl. Then toss in the lemon peels as well. Microwave for 3 minutes and take out the bowl. Be sure to use a hot pad or oven gloves, it will be very hot. All of the accumulated dirt, food, and grime will wipe right off with a few paper towels.

Do this simple trick once a month to keep your microwave sparkling clean and looking great. Toss the lemon water and peels down your dish disposal and run it with cold water. This will deodorize your dish disposal and make good use of your lemon peels.

Shine Your Sink

Another place that can get grimy fast is your kitchen sink. It can be very hard if you have kids, but try to keep the sink clear of dirty dishes by rinsing them right away and putting them into the dishwasher. Once per day make sure that the sink is completely clear and give it a good cleaning. Just spray some white vinegar onto it and scrub with a microfiber cloth. If you don’t have a microfiber cloth you can use paper towels or a sponge, but the microfiber towel will get it much shinier.

Get New Small Appliances from DealDash

If your kitchen is older and in need of some updating, why not get a few new small appliances from DealDash? A pop of color here and there from a new stand mixer or a classy new cutting board will make your kitchen look great. DealDash offers many different things for your kitchen such as cutlery, tea sets, food processors, chef knives, and so many other items. Just click here and you will be taken to the kitchen and dining category.

Thanks for Reading

As you can see, it is simpler to clean things regularly than to let the grime build up in your kitchen. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on keeping your kitchen clean. Don’t forget to check back often for new articles here.

Holiday decorations will help you get into the Christmas spirit. There are ways to organize your Christmas Decorations. It is easier than you think. Read on for more information!

Organize Your Ornaments

Your ornaments can easily get lost if you do not keep them all in one place.  A cardboard box with dividers is sturdy enough to keep your ornaments in place. You can find segmented boxes in the store or use an old wine box. Avoid storing your Christmas decorations in the attic because of the humidity. Your Christmas decorations will be safe and tidy under your bed or in a closet.

Make Sure That Your Lights Work

Checking to see if your Christmas lights work every year is imperative. It is easy for one of the bulbs to go out. Instead of keeping your lights in a box, it is best to store them in individual freezer bags. Keep all of the extra fuses and bulbs stored away in a kit. Make sure to wrap the strands around the lights in a loop, to protect it from damage.

Gift Wrapping Station

The best way to store gift wrapping supplies and paper is to create a station. You can use a pegboard in any size to store your gift-wrapping materials. The materials you will need are tape, wrapping paper, scissors, gift tags, and a hole puncher. Creating a gift-wrapping station for all of your supplies will make organizing your materials easier.

DealDash Helps Winterize Your Backyard

DealDash

Now is the time to start winterizing your lawn and garden. Here are some tips from DealDash to get the job done.

Your outside plants have looked beautiful for you all summer long, making your backyard a location you’re proud of. Effectively winterizing your grass and also yard plants is an essential tool for healthy turf, as well as strong plants following year. You should also keep in mind to care for your exterior lawn devices, including your grass and horticulture items, and also all of your yard decorations. A little time invested this fall will certainly make your plants, grass, and landscape design a lot more pleasurable the following springtime! Read on for some great tips and information from DealDash.

A Little Work Now, an Easier Time Later

Always begin with the simple work. Firstly, you will want to either cover or store away your delicate planters and wind chimes, as well as your deck furnishings. Unglazed terra-cotta planters left full of dirt outdoors will certainly frequently burst or crack in the freezing temperature levels. It is best to cleanse them and also put them in a storage space location where they are safeguarded from the outdoors. This actally happened to me last year – I left a terra-cotta pot outside, and by the time of the first snowfall my pot had cracked down the side and is not useless.

Relocate Your Bird Feeders

Fall is the season to relocate your birdfeeders and also to begin equipping your winter month’s animal feeding cupboard. Your feathery pals will certainly be crowding to your feeders for that nourishing nibble during the winter. Keep in mind to maintain your feeders during the wintertime as the birds require trusted food resources via the cold weather. Try to relocate your bird feeders to a place that will still be accessible to you when there is snow on the ground. A bird feeder with no way to put food in it is no good to your little chirpy friends.

Take Care of the Garden

After doing the simple jobs, carry on to the tougher winterizing tasks. Prepare to winterize the veggie patch. After the initial frost, eliminate the yearly plants as well as dead plant life. You can include this product to your compost heap. You’ll also want to pull seasonal weeds, then put down mulch in your yard for the wintertime. Consider using rubber mulch, as you will have to put down much, much less each year compared to traditional mulch.

Raking the Leaves

In most lawns, there’s the significant task of raking fallen leaves. These are excellent either in the compost heap or as straight compost on the yard. Seasonal blossoms should be surrounded by a hefty layer of compost. Wait to trim your trees till later on in the winter months.

Cover Your Hedges

After the ground freezes, you can mulch your seasonal blossoms as well as recently grown trees. Some hedges will require being covered in cloth to shield them from wind damages, sunlight scald, and also various other winter months injury such as snow.

Care for Your Mower

Finally, be sure to put away your lawnmower properly for the winter. Drain the gas from your lawnmower into a container for disposal. If you do not wish to ‘lose’ that little of gas, include a gas conditioner prior to the long winter season. Make sure to comply with the instructions on the bottle.

Also, care for every one of your landscape design tools prior to storing it for the cool winter season. Wash them and also dry them. If you take time to hone the blades before putting them away, you’ll see that the first grass trimming task in the springtime will be a little bit less complicated. As a final task, care for their fresh sharp blades by using a little spray oil for the blades. Then all that’s left to do is store them somewhere dry like your garage, shed, or basement.

Need a Place to Store Your Tools?

DealDash offers many storage solutions for lawn and garden equipment. If you go to the Home, Garden, and Tools category on DealDash you will find many choices. There are many different styles such as wall units, shelving, and free-standing closets. These items look great in a basement, garage, or workshop.

DealDash Cooks: Kitchen Tips Everyone Should Know

DealDash

Cooking can be as easy or difficult as you make it. Here are some tips from DealDash that everyone should know to make life in the kitchen easier.

Cooking may not be for everyone, but if you feel it is for you, you will want to read these tips and tricks to ensure you are putting some excellent meal together. There are tons of different things to think about when cooking, so utilize the tips in this quick article to comprehend what you’re getting yourself into!

Make Sure You Have your Ingredients Together

Be sure you have what you need to cook the recipe, excellent cooking depends on it. There is nothing more frustrating than to get down to the last recipe directions and find you are missing out on a necessary herb or spice. Read over your recipe before you begin cooking. There are many different items that can be swapped out in most recipes, for example using cottage cheese instead of ricotta.

Be Sure You Have Enough Time

If you wish to cook the best meats and roasts, for example, you need to have a lot of cooking time. However, if you feel that you will not have enough time to cook it, simply purchase a roast with the bone connected. When cooking, the bone holds the heat in, then disperses the heat throughout the meat. This enables the meat to cook faster than boneless cuts. Another great idea would be to use a slow cooker instead.

DealDash has slow cookers and Crock Pots up for auction fairly regularly. Utilizing one of these amazing devices can make your life so much easier. Check out the DealDash Kitchen and Dining category to see the choices.

Cooking Fish Properly Can Be Tricky

If you love to eat fish you know the despair of overcooking your salmon. If you desire perfectly prepared salmon, I have a solution for you. Simply turn off the heat and remove the salmon when the fish is opaque and it flakes whenever you press carefully with the back of a fork. Unfortunately, salmon dries out quickly. It’s also quite easy to overcook, and because it remains pink, color is not a precise indicator of whether or not it is done as opposed to other meats.

Get a Little Help, I Won’t Tell

To save tons of time while baking, start with a boxed mix and add your own ideas and ingredients. By beginning with a mix, you conserve the time for determining the basic components like salt, flour, and sugar. Instead of considering the mix as a completed item, think of it as your jumping-off point. Consider adding nuts, fruits, or chocolate chips to items such as muffins, pancakes, or other items.

Cooking can be fun if you enjoy doing it, however, there are definitely some corners you can cut to make life easier. Utilize the cooking tips and suggestions from this post to obtain a much better foundation for your cooking endeavors.

DealDash Home: Organizing the Pantry

DealDash

Every home can benefit from organization. Today we are going to talk about pantry organization. Read on for helpful information from DealDash.

Let’s get one thing straight from the beginning – you don’t need to have an actual walk-in pantry to have an organized pantry space. A small closet, kitchen cupboards, or even a free-standing storage unit or bookshelf can serve as a pantry. With that said, let’s get organized! Read on for tips, tricks, and information on pantry organization.

Where’s Your Pantry? DealDash Can Help!

As mentioned above, not everyone has a large walk-in pantry. If you have one, you’re all set, you can move to the next section. For those of us who don’t have one, you’ll need to decide where you will keep your dry goods. At my house, we don’t have a walk-in pantry, but we have a dedicated closet with shelving. If you don’t have a closet available, why not get a free-standing storage unit from DealDash?

DealDash offers many storage solutions for different circumstances. If you go to the Home, Garden, and Tools category on DealDash you will find many choices. You will find hanging wall units, shelving, and free-standing closets.

Purge Your Pantry

After you’ve found out where you’re going to keep everything, then you’ll want to go through your supplies. You’ll want to purge the items that are either expired or that your family doesn’t like. You can throw out the expired items and donate the new and unopened items to a food pantry or food drive. You should be left with things that your family likes that are still within their sell-by date. Don’t put them away yet, though, because organization is coming.

Organize by Type and Date

Next, you’ll want to put all of the canned goods in a pile, the boxed foods, the bagged foods, condiments, etc in their own piles. For “one-off” items, but those in a mismatched pile together. After that, organize them by sell-by date, putting the ones that are going to expire soonest in the front. You’ll want to stock your shelves with the now-organized foods. For the ones that are in the mismatched pile, you can put those in a basket and put it on one of the shelves.

You need to help provide them with an effective study environment. This is so that they will be able to keep up with their schoolwork. Here are some tips to accomplish this for your kids, or for yourself if you are an adult student.

Keep Distractions to a Minimum

Make sure that there are no distractions going on in the room that is being used as a study area. That way the student will be able to completely focus on doing their schoolwork. Distractions like music and television will take the focus away from doing schoolwork which can lead to not so good grades in school. You should also have the student study at the desk or at a table so that they will be able to keep their focus. Studying somewhere too comfortable can take the focus away from their school work.

Set Up a Nice Area for Study With DealDash Furniture

You can set up a very effective area for studying in your home. You can check out the great furniture, desks, and shelves that DealDash offers up for auction. There are some excellent choices and they are all made of high-quality materials.

No Non-Studying People Allowed!

When the student is studying they should be kept away from other people. Unless, of course, they happen to be studying as well. Again. if you’re not focused on studying you will not have an effective study session. Keeping other people in the house away from your studying student will assist them in staying on course with their studies.

Take Short Breaks

Make sure you do encourage the student to take a short break from their studies. It can help to refresh their minds so that they can get back to finish their studies. Breaks can really make studying more effective just as long as the student does not get distracted from their work. A quick snack and drink is a great way to spend a short break away from studying.

DealDash Couponing Made Easy

DealDash

Do you always use coupons? I know I do! Here are some suggestions from DealDash to ensure couponing will proceed much more efficiently when you do your weekly grocery shopping.

Lots of people nowadays are trying to find methods to extend their weekly earnings to ensure that they have the ability to do activities such as paying for food shopping all week or even eating at restaurants weekly. Utilizing coupons is a fantastic method to be able to conserve cash on the products that you are currently buying. Specifically speaking, the foods that you buy each month. Here are a few techniques to have the finest possible experience when you begin couponing, from DealDash.

Determine Your Own Way of Doing Things

You must establish a system that will work for you. There are numerous recommendations available of what is the ideal system for dealing with coupons. However, you have to make certain that you choose an organizational technique that is going to be simple for you. If it’s not simple and easy you probably won’t do it!

You should plan to sort your coupons during the same occasion every week. Personally, I recommend an accordion-style collapsable purse to keep your coupons in. Other individuals choose folders or perhaps merely an envelope. Use what works most effectively when it comes to yourself. Some supermarkets sell these at the checkout stand.

Do Away with the Out Of Date Ones

You will additionally wish to expunge expired discount coupons from your assortment weekly. By doing this you do not run the risk of depending on cost savings which you are actually not going to have the ability to obtain. You have to ensure that you are always utilizing coupons which are definitely within their expiry date. Furthermore, to be able to completely take full advantage of your cost savings you have to stay clear of impulse buying as well as just purchasing what you require. If you buy things you do not need you are going to end up spending more and not saving money. This isn’t your goal!

Get to know the Rules at Your Preferred Shop

Whenever anyone is just beginning with discount coupons they should begin with their local supermarket. Learn everything you can regarding the store’s discount coupon protocol and learn ways to pair discount coupons with sales that the shop may be featuring. You will quickly establish a plan that will help you in relation to using coupons, This is so you can easily use it at other establishments for other products that you need to buy. You can move on to other stores once you have mastered your local grocery store. Attempt to just try it one store at a time so you don’t get the coupon protocols mixed up. Some of the rules can be a little confusing and arbitrary.

DealDash

It might be almost time (or already time!) for your kids to be back at school. It’s still quite hot in many areas. Here are some ideas to keep the kids busy while it’s still hot out, from DealDash.

It isn’t really always all that easy to keep the kids busy all summer season long, and the entertainment doesn’t even stop when they return to school. There are still many hours per day after school and on weekends where you will often hear a chorus of “I’m BORED!”. This is especially true on very hot days, the days when the kids enter the house 5 minutes after you send them out, grumbling “it’s too hot outside!” What can you do to keep them busy, other than letting them watch YouTube videos or play computer games? Plenty! Read on for more information from DealDash.

Make Popsicles

To start with, have some inexpensive, cool treats on hand. Homemade popsicles do not cost much and serve a dual purpose. The kids can help you make them which will take up a little time, and then they can enjoy eating them later on.

However, they do tend to be messy. Simply send the kids outside to restrict the mess. This idea might only keep the kids out for a brief time, but as any parent knows, 15 minutes of silence can be a breath of fresh air.

Send Them Out in Late Afternoon

Let the kids outside to play in the later afternoon, when it’s cooler outside. This works well if your kids are already back to school. They can come home, have a snack, do their homework, and then go outside to play before dinner.

Board Games, Not Video Games

Aim to keep tv watching/video game playing under 2 hours a day total. If your kids like to play games then board games work very well. Of course, this depends on the ages of your kids. My daughter is 6 years old, and just starting to enjoy easier board games like “Trouble” and “Kid’s Monopoly”. There’s nothing wrong with video games in moderation, of course. Every kid should get to play something they enjoy, hopefully, they will choose outdoor play sometimes.

Provide Fun Toys Outside from DealDash

Kids will definitely want to go outside and play if there are fun toys out there. Be sure to check DealDash for some great outdoor items. DealDash has bikes and basketball hoops and other fun sports equipment they can use outdoors.

Thanks for Reading

There are so many great reasons as to why you should encourage your kids to play outside daily, even if it’s hot. They can really benefit from the outdoor play. Use these ideas to tempt them into outdoor play each day.

DealDash Health: Make a First Aid Kit for Home

DealDash

Having a first aid kit on hand for your family is very important. Here is a quick primer on how to make one up for your home, car, or to keep on hand. Read on for more information from DealDash.

It’s a little scary to think about, but mishaps and medical emergency situations in the home take place regularly. It happens even more frequently than you might realize. Statistics have shown that injuries occur about every 4 seconds in the American home. These accidents vary and can occur from many different sources from cuts to burns and more. Each and every home needs to have at least one first Aid Kit that is well stocked and easily on hand. You might also want to consider making another first aid kit for your car, and a mini one for your purse or backpack. DealDash has you covered.

Where Should You Keep the Supplies

Firstly, you need a vessel to keep the items in. You can buy a box or bag that says “First Aid” or you can use something that you already have. Make sure you save your First Aid Kit in a carry bag or plastic container that will keep your kit tidy and dry and easily accessible in your house. Just be sure to mark it very carefully with the words “FIRST AID” so everyone knows what’s inside.

You will also need to designate a place to keep your kit. The kit is typically kept in the bathroom, but you could also keep it in the kitchen or anywhere else that is close at hand.

What is it Used For?

First aid kits for the home are used most typically for small injuries such as cuts, sunburns, small cooking burns, or bug or animal bites. Having a well-stocked first aid kit can mean the difference between having to take a trip to the doctor or clinic right away or be able to take care of things at home.

What Should Go Inside?

However, the First Aid Kit will not be any use to you if you don’t know how to utilize it properly. Make certain you have a guidebook or pamphlet in your first aid kit from a reliable source such as your doctor’s office. It must have the latest medical guidance and be simple to read, particularly under tension. Here is a short list of things that should be inside your kit:

  • Pointed tweezers for removing splinters
  • Disposable latex or non-latex gloves
  • Small rounded-tipped scissors for cutting medical tape
  • Band-Aids
  • Breathing Barrier for carrying out CPR
  • Thermometer-either digital or mercury – if you choose digital you should keep an extra battery in the kit as well.
  • Ice Bag
  • Eye Patches
  • Oral (without needle) syringe for liquid medications
  • Medicines  – Including Non-prescription medicines such as antihistamine cough suppressant, aspirin, ibuprofen, syrup of ipecac in case somebody consumes toxin. This need to only be utilized after calling the Poison Control Center first. Also, you should include any prescription medications that any family members take as well as a paper copy of the prescriptions.
  • A range of all sizes of gauze to dress a variety of injuries. This includes wrapped sterile gauze pads 2″ X 2″ non-stick gauze bandages, sterile gauze pads 4″ X 4″ , and One roll 2″ gauze
  • Medical tape
  • Bactericides such as Hydrogen Peroxide, witch hazel, or alcohol to kill germs.
  • Anti-bacterial cream or ointment. This is good for cuts, scrapes and insect bites.

Keep It Current

Your First Aid Kit should be inspected once each year, possibly the very same day you inspect your smoke alarm. You will want to be sure it is fully stocked. Make certain you always make a note of anything you utilize out of your Kit so it can easily be replaced. This is a great time to check the expiration dates on all medications and be sure that any paper prescriptions are still current.

Thanks for Reading

You will feel much better once you have your first aid kit all made up and installed in its new home. You should also consider making up one for your car, boat, or anywhere else that you spend a lot of time.

DealDash Cooks: Once-A-Month Cooking Planning Tips

DealDash

If you have a busy lifestyle, then once-a-month cooking could be an excellent solution for you. Here are some suggestions from DealDash.

When you are planning meals, especially for a large family, you will need to look into once-a-month cooking. When you have decided to take part in once-a-month cooking you need to develop a plan to make sure everything goes like you want it to so here are a few tips to help your plan work, from DealDash.

Make a Plan and a List

When you are going to be doing once a month cooking you need to start meal planning immediately. You need to think about the things that your family is going to want to eat and plan accordingly. This will also give you the opportunity to create a grocery list and look for sales and coupons that you can use to save money on all of food that you will be buying.

Set Aside a Day

Once you have all of your ingredients for once a month cooking purchased you’re going to start developing a plan for the day that you are going to spend cooking.  It is important that you start as early in the day as possible. You are going to be doing a lot of cooking in the short amount of time. You want to create a plan for preparing everything so you can get the food prepared in a reasonable amount of time.

Who Will Help You?

You will also want to enlist help in preparing the food for once a month cooking. It will be a considerable amount of work to do on your own. By finding someone to help you it would be possible to get things done in the most faster time frame.

Don’t overlook any sources of help available, even Elementary school-age children can wash and (carefully!) peel vegetables. One of my 6-year-old daughter’s favorite kitchen activity is to help me prepare asparagus by cutting off the ends with my kitchen scissors. If your child is responsible and careful enough to use scissors to cut paper then they should be able to use kitchen scissors with your supervision.

Thanks for Reading

Advanced planning is one of the most important things that you can do to help your once-a-month cooking to go as planned. So if you want to do once-a-month cooking make sure you have a solid plan in place.

DealDash Crafts: Sewing Basket Basics

DealDash

If you would like to get started with a sewing hobby you’re going to need some basics. Here is a guide from DealDash as to what should go into your sewing basket.

When you require sewing supplies to stitch on a fast button or fix a ripped seam, every house must have a basic sewing basket at the ready for those times. By having a stitching basket with all of your fundamental sewing basics in one location, you can be ready for any little sewing emergency which may emerge. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

The Basket

The very first thing you will require to have is a sewing basket itself. By having numerous compartments you can keep your sewing basket in order and totally free from mess. You will want to choose a basket that is large and has compartments for all of your notions.

Sharp Scissors

Trying to snip cloth with dull scissors is one of the most discouraging things you can do when you are stitching. Having a sharp pair of scissors readily available without having to hunt around the home for them. Therefore, a sharp pair of scissors is needed for any sewing basket.

In addition to regular scissors, pinking shears are needed as well. They are a unique kind of scissors. They cut material so that the edges are zig-zagged. This zig-zagging help to keep fabric edges from tearing. If you will be dealing with a fabric with a tendency to fray, such as satin, you will find that pinking shears make your life a whole lot easier. They are not a must, but if you sew often you might want to invest in a pair.

Pins and Needles

In your sewing box, you will want to have extremely sharp needles and some which are blunt ended. You will want hand sewing needles as well as sewing machine needles if you use a sewing machine. In addition to needles, you will need to have plenty of pins as well. They can hold things together while you are stitching them.

A pink holder for your pins is a must. Instead of a conventional fabric pin cushion, a magnetic pin holder can make your use of needles and pins simpler. Likewise, when you are finished for the day, you can simply wave your magnetic pin holder over your work area. This will draw up all the roaming pins. You don’t want them ending up on the carpet and in someone’s foot (or a pet or child’s mouth!). A magnetic pin holder is a staple for any sewing basket.

Thread Spools

No sewing basket is complete without threads of many colors. The last thing you want to do is discover yourself requiring to stitch on a dark button and only having white thread to do it with. You need to have a large supply of both black and white, and at least one spool of navy, gray, brown, red, light and dark blue thread.

Odds and Ends

A stitch gauge looks like a small ruler with a moving gage on it. The stitch gauge is utilized to assist you to determine as well as to assist you in sewing straight lines and hems. This is not a “must have” but it is a nice addition to your basket.

Taylor’s chalk is used for making markings on your material. The chalk is quickly removed from your final product by brushing it away. You should have both light and dark taylor’s chalk.

Anti-fraying solution can be used to the edges of your material. This is to keep it from fraying either permanently or temporarily. The tube looks like super glue and can safely be used on the majority of materials. Spot check a small area first to determine if you can use it on your material.

DealDash Home: Reorganize a Small Bathroom

dealdash

Having a small bathroom can be a tricky problem. However, with good organization, you can make it work for your family. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to help.

Small, cramped bathrooms with little space and lots of stuff can present big problems. This is especially true for a busy family. With items strewn across the bathroom countertop with no designated space make it difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for. This can be a disaster when morning routine time is at a minimum. You can conquer this problem with an honest assessment of your bathroom’s contents and some creativity. Read on for some helpful ideas from DealDash.

Get Rid of Excess

For starters, look around your tiny bathroom. If you have products in your bathroom that you didn’t like after the first use, or that someone who previously visited left there and your family doesn’t use, get rid of them. This can be a little distressing if you focus on the money that you spent on buying it. However, if it’s taking up valuable space in your cramped bathroom quarters, it’s costing you more in stress than it’s worth.

You’ll probably be amazed at how much space you can free up by clearing out these unused, unwanted items. I find that makeup and sample-sized products are the worst offenders in my bathroom. How about yours?

What’s Left?

Next, after you’ve cleared these items out, assess what’s left. If there’s a drawer for makeup, but nothing in it is sorted, consider some small boxes or baskets to place them in. DealDash can help if you need home organization items.

Place lipsticks and glosses in one bin, another for makeup compacts, and another for makeup applicators such as brushes and sponges. If you and your family don’t use these items you will have a much quicker time, as these items take a while to sort.

If there are a lot of hair products, consider using a larger basket to place them in. You can store this container under the sink which can be easily removed and put away each morning. This can be very helpful if more than one person in your family has long hair and each has their own hair dryer, flat iron, curler, etc. Check DealDash to see their Fashion, Health, and Beauty products.

Use Your Pantry

Are you in the habit of stocking up on products you seem to go through quickly such as toilet paper, lotion, or toothpaste? If yes, then consider storing those in a pantry or linen closet instead of in the bathroom itself.

Make sure all family members know where to look for a replacement or refill should they run out. This is especially important when it comes to toilet paper! In my family, we store all of the paper products in one bathroom closet and all of the other replacement items such as shampoo and toothpaste in our second bathroom’s closet. This makes taking stock of our items before we go shopping much easier.

Get Everyone on Board

Finally, and most importantly, get your family to agree on using and maintaining the organization system that you have created. It’ll do no good to organize only to find things disheveled and unorganized the following week. You should also ask for input when devising a system. You will all want to be on the same page and make sure it’s one that everyone involved can live with. Don’t forget to ask your kids as well. When kids are allowed to give their ideas and input they are much more likely to take part in the organization process.

Thanks for Reading

Organizing your small bathroom can seem like a lot of work. However, if you do some planning you’ll see that it won’t be very difficult or take a lot of time. Be sure to get your family involved as it will be a lot less work for yourself if everyone pitches in.

One thing that will come in very handy when you have a baby is a changing table. Here are some of the benefits of getting a changing table when you have a baby, from DealDash.

You can also get an organizer to hang on the side of the changing table. All of these things will help keep you organized.

DealDash Helps Eliminate Mosquitos

DealDash

Summer is fun, but the mosquitos that come with it are quite annoying. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to eliminate them.

Mosquitos are harmless insects, but they can be annoying. They are constantly flying around, and they can bite you. Although a mosquito bite is harmless, it is still necessary to get rid of mosquitos.  There are some different ways to get rid of mosquitos so you won’t have to worry about them stinging you or flying around.  Here are some ways to get rid of mosquitos outdoors, from DealDash.

Get Rid of Trash

It is important to get rid of trash and things lying around your yard. Keeping a well-kept yard will help eliminate mosquitos.  Mosquitos feed off of water, so if you have items that are holding water, it is best to get rid of them. Water allows mosquitos to breed and when you take the water away, you will no longer have to worry about mosquitos. This even applies to small volumes of water such as in soda cans.

Tip the Water in the Containers

When you have more water, you will have more mosquitos. 1 to 2 inches of water in a bucket can easily help a mosquito breed, and you don’t want that to happen. You should tip the water in any bird baths or dog bowls on a regular basis.

Tie Down Tarps

Tarps can be another attraction for mosquitos. If you use a tarp to cover your grill or any other item outdoors, it should be tied down tightly. When a tarp is not tied down tightly, then pools of rainwater can come in which will attract mosquitos. If a tarp cannot be pulled down tightly, then you should remove the tarp to drain the water.

Thanks for Reading

Mosquitos can be hard to deal with. Luckily these tips will help you keep the mosquitos out of your yard.   If you follow these tips your yard will be free of mosquitos and you will be able to enjoy the outdoors again. Don’t be a prisoner in your home due to the mosquitos in your yard.

DealDash Quick and Easy Home Organization

DealDash

Everyone wants to live in a clean and organized home. Sometimes it can be hard to get started. Here are some tips from DealDash to help you.

Organizing your home can seem like a daunting task. However, is definitely something that you and your family should get on board with doing.  Here are some tips that will help you in getting your home organized, from DealDash.

What are Your Unique Needs?

You want to create a standard of your own as far as what is organized in your home.  Just because a room is completely clean doesn’t mean that it is organized. You need to come up with a standard of organization that works for you and your unique needs. Don’t worry if everything isn’t as perfect as in a magazine. You need to figure out what works best for you and your family.

Strive for “Great” and not “Perfect”

You should certainly strive to not be going for perfection when it comes to having an organized house.  Sure, you may see pictures of houses that look completely organized however this is really not a realistic representation of an organized home.  Just remember that you need to set your standard for organization. Keep in mind that this will be completely different depending on if you have kids or pets, or if you live alone or with another adult. It all just depends on your own personal situation.

Make a Plan

You need to consider grouping like tasks together.  Make a list of the things that you need to do during the day and group other things you can do easily at the same time.  That will make things a lot easier when it comes to keeping your house clean and organized.

Be Proactive

Another thing you’re to keep in mind to keep your house organized is to make sure you are being proactive to reduce the amount of clutter that’s in your home. You want to make sure you’re not just buying something simply to buy it. Make sure that you’re going to use it and love it so that it will not be cluttering up your home.

Thanks for Reading

Organizing your house can seem like a lot of work. However, if you do some planning you’ll see that it will be a much easier task than you first imagined. It is best to also work on getting your family involved as it will be a lot simpler to keep your home organized if everyone pitches in.

DealDash Home Tips for the Summer

DealDash

The summer is a great time to get things done for your home. Here are some ideas and tips from DealDash.

Everyone loves the summertime. The sun is shining, and you can do a lot of things that you cannot do during the winter.  One of the best things to do is to take care of your house during the summer. There are so many things that you can do for your house in the summertime. Just like spring is for spring cleaning you can also do some summer cleaning, and planting. Here are 3 things that you need to do for your house in the summer, from DealDash.

Gardening

Gardening is a great thing to do during the summer at your house. You can get some mulch and flowers and begin to decorate your front or backyard.  There are a lot of plants that are in season during the summertime, so you have plenty of options to choose from. Remember to maintain your garden by feeding them and watering your plants.

In addition to planting, you can re-fill the mulch around your home that was washed away or deteriorated during the Winter and Spring. Personally, we bought the bags of rubber mulch. It doesn’t disintegrate or attract bugs. We still need to put a couple of bags down each summer from the pieces that got washed away, but it’s significantly less than the 5+ bags we were putting down before.

Wash your Windows

Keeping your windows clean is important during the summer. Now that the summer is here you have to keep your windows clear of dust, dirt, and bird droppings. You can use cleaners such as Windex or simply use soap and water. It is best to clean your windows weekly, inside and out.

Prepare Your House for the Heat

The best thing that you can do is to prepare your house for the heat.  The summer heat can be toxic, and you need to stay warm. You should check your AC to make sure that it is up to date, and that there is no leakage in the vents. If you have ceiling fans, you need to have them running at all times to keep the air circulating.

Taking care of your home during the summer is important. These tips will help you take care of the things that you need to accomplish with your house during the summer.

DealDash Keeps the Bugs Away

DealDash

Bugs in the summer got you down? Read this article from DealDash for tips and tricks to keep them under control.

It is the summertime, so that means that bugs come out of their hiding places.  The summertime is a fun time to hang out with friends and relax, but bugs can get in the way. Although bugs are outside during the summer, they can also come inside the house. There are ways to keep bugs outside your house during the warm months.  Here are three ways to keep bugs to a minimum during the summer, from DealDash.

Get Rid of Unnecessary Water

Getting bitten by mosquitoes is not fun. That is why it is important to remove stagnant water or any water that may invite them to come in. For example, when you wash your car, make sure you pour the water out of the bucket. Mosquitoes and gnats feed off of water.  Remove water from all garbage cans and glasses with liquid in it.

White Vinegar

Many people think that you have to go out and buy some fancy insect repellent, but you can use things that are in your cabinet.  White vinegar is good for ants because they do not like the smell, and ants can easily come inside during the summertime. All you have to do is spray the white vinegar around the window frame and the doors. This will help keep the ants away from your home. The great thing about this is that it’s safe for both kids and pets.

Use a Vegetable

Some bugs do not like certain foods. Roaches are one of those insects. The next time you buy some cucumbers, make sure you do not go through them away. You should save some and keep them in the bathtub or on your kitchen counter because roaches hate them. This can also be particularly handy if you have a problem with roaches around your garbage bin outside. Simply toss your cucumber ends in there and keep the roaches at bay.

Bugs can be very annoying during the summertime.  These tips will help you keep those pests away. You can still enjoy your summer and live bug-free if you consider these tips.

Sleep is Healing

Getting plenty of sleep is important if you want to be healthy. You should be looking to sleep enough to wake up feeling refreshed. Many people have a slightly different schedule in the summer working fewer hours. This is a great time to catch up on some sleep. However, you do not want to get too little or too much sleep that could be a sign of a health problem. So be sure to monitor your sleep so that you are getting enough.

Find a Happy Medium

You also want to find a balance between being healthy and being able to indulge yourself once in a while. Generally when people feel deprived of things that they really enjoy they are more prone to do unhealthy things. So allow yourself a treat every once in a while instead of every day and you will be much healthier.

You will also want to begin to make healthier choices when it comes to the food that you consume. This is especially easy in the summer because there are so many yummy treats that are healthy such as watermelon, fruit salad, and even popsicles are healthier for you than ice cream.

Take it Slow

If you start to make small changes it will be much easier to start living a healthier life. If you try to make huge changes all at one time you are not likely to be successful with your new life choices. As you can see you don’t have to make drastic changes to become the healthiest that you can be. Even the smallest choices will have a huge effect on your overall health.

DealDash Keeps Kids Organized With Crafts

DealDash

Crafts are fun to do with kids. Let DealDash help keep your kids organized with these tips.

Crafting is a fantastic way to assist kids in exploring their creative side. Unfortunately for many parents, keeping everything organized for your kids to craft can be difficult. Here are some tips for getting and keeping your kids organized when they want to do crafts, from DealDash.

Keep Materials Together

You will need to keep materials together. For instance, if your child likes to craft with paper and pens and such, you will want to find a container to keep all of their materials together. This way they will know exactly where they are and when to put everything once they are done creating. You might want to get containers for each different type of writing utensil such as colored pencils, gel pens, and crayons.

Take it Step-By-Step

Have your kids work step by step with what they are doing with their crafts. Sometimes kids can get messy and that is OK but if you can teach them to work slowly they will have less of a chance to do things like get crafting materials all over the place. When kids work step-by-step it’s much easier to help them clean up as they go.

Have Craft Storage Available

It’s almost impossible to keep things organized if there isn’t enough storage. If you don’t have plenty of storage for craft supplies, why not get some on DealDash? DealDash has lots of awesome storage solutions for crafts and more.

Keep Ideas Organized

Having your child write down ideas for projects can be really helpful in getting them organized. You can have them write down what they want to create and what supplies that they will need and you can get everything together for them.  You could even have them do this for future projects that you may not have all the supplies for so you can organize getting those projects.

Clean Up, Everyone, Everywhere

Making sure that your kids help clean up when they are done crafting. This will help them stay organized as they will learn where to put supplies back where they belong. This is a great way to teach them some responsibility as well as they can be responsible for making sure the supplies that they use are returned to where they are being stored. If you start them young, they will be pros at cleaning up when they are a little older.

Thanks for Reading

Crafting with kids can be chaotic but it doesn’t need to be. If you put together a plan to keep your kids organized you will have a much simpler time with everything when they are crafting.

DealDash Pets: Help Kids Care for a Puppy

DealDash

If your kids have been begging for a puppy, this is a great time of the year to get one. Here are some handy tips from DealDash to help your kids take care of the new puppy.

Getting a puppy can be a wonderful way to help teach your kids about responsibility. There are lots of things that your kids will need to learn to properly take care of a puppy including the following ways, from DealDash.

Set Up a Place for Puppy

The puppy is going to need a place to stay. You will want to help your kids set up a place the house where the puppy can do things like eat and sleep. This way the puppy will eventually know where to go to relax and get their food and water. Consistency is good for both kids and dogs, so this is an important step in caring for the new puppy.

House Training

You will also want to get your kids on board with helping potty train the puppy. They can assist by cleaning up messes and helping to teach the puppy that it needs to go outside to go to the bathroom. This will help the kids to know that not everything is completely fun when you have a puppy. You’ll have to help younger kids, of course, but older ones should be able to do this with minimal help.

Don’t Forget to Feed Him!

Next, you will want to have your kids help to get your puppy on a feeding schedule. You should have your kids take turns feeding the puppy and getting it water so that the puppy will grow up healthy and happy. Just remind your kids not to overfeed the puppy so you do not have to worry about it becoming overweight and having health issues. You might want to set up a chart to show whose turn it is to feed and water the puppy. They can check it off after they feed and water him so that everyone will know that he does not need any more food.

Exercising and Playing

Playing with the puppy is also something that your kids will want to do. You need to teach your kids not to play too rough with the puppy even though the puppy might be a little rough with them. They need to know that the puppy is still growing and can get hurt easily so when playing everyone needs to be careful.

In addition to playing, you will need to show your kids how to take the puppy for a walk. For younger kids, the “walk” could even just be outside in your backyard. It will teach both child and puppy how to use the leash.

Thanks for Reading

Getting a puppy can be a big responsibility for kids so be sure to teach them all that they need to know so that they can help bring up a happy and healthy puppy.

DealDash Throws a Budget Summer Party

DealDash

Summer is coming, why not throw a summer party? Let DealDash help you keep things on budget with these tips.

Summer is the perfect time for parties. Whether you are having a beach party or a party inside, you need to have a budget. Many people want to throw the most impressive party of the year, but you don’t have to spend a lot of money to do that. Here are some tips to throw a summer party on a budget, from DealDash.

Make or Buy Cheap Invitations

Unless you are sending out wedding invitations, you can use simple invitations to let your guests know about your party. Your party does not always need paper invitations.  Just simply sending out an email invitation can have the same effect. You can also create an event page on Facebook so that everyone can RSVP. Another idea might be to make your own cards. All you need is a stack of construction paper, a printer, and a little time and creativity.

Budget Your Decorations

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on decorations. Instead of getting stressed out about not having fancy china, you can mix and match bowls with different designs.  If you are having a fancy party and you want place cards you can use everyday items and use a sharpie to write the guests name. For a centerpiece, you can use candles from the dollar store. You don’t have to blow the budget to still make things nice. A few discount bouquets of flowers from the grocery store will look great, and make things into a party atmosphere. Additionally, if you would like to have balloons at your party, the dollar store has helium balloons, and quite a large selection at that!

Cheap but Tasty Food

Instead of cooking the most expensive meat or dessert you can easily budget your money by using appetizers. You can create your own appetizers by adding dip with vegetables, and fruit. If you are tight on money, you can have a summer potluck. When you have a potluck, your guests bring a dish, and you can cook the main dish. Saving money on food will help your budget. Also, you could skip the real food altogether and throw a make-your-own ice cream sundae party. It’s a lot of fun, delicious, and the guests will love it.

DealDash Cooks: Avoid Nonstick Cookware Mistakes

DealDash

Nonstick cookware is easy to use and makes things easier. However, it’s still possible to make mistakes when using it. Read on for more information from DealDash.

If you are using your nonstick cookware properly it will last a good deal longer than if you were to not be doing all that you can to keep them in great shape. Here are a few mistakes to avoid when using nonstick cookware. Read this article to get some great tips from DealDash.

Don’t Use Nonstick Spray

Using nonstick cooking spray is a big mistake when it comes to using nonstick cookware. Why is this a problem, you might be wondering? Well if you use nonstick cooking spray on nonstick cookware there will be a sticky film that develops that will not come off at all. You will have to scrub it off, which is not good for your nonstick cookware.

Don’t Scrub too Hard

You should also avoid using abrasive items on your nonstick cookware. This means that you should avoid things like knives and metal spatulas. They can end up scratching the coating off of your nonstick cookware making it not be as useful to use. It is best to use rubber utensils when it comes to nonstick cookware. You should also not use any extremely abrasive sponges or scouring pads, either.

Don’t Wash in the Dishwasher, Please!

Washing your nonstick cookware in a dishwasher is another mistake that you need to avoid. While many pieces of nonstick cookware say they are dishwasher safe you will find that after a while harsh detergents can wear away at the coating of your cookware. The high temperatures of the water will not be good for the cookware either. You should wash all of your nonstick pots and pans by hand.

Not too Hot!

Cooking over too much heat is not a good thing to do if you are working with nonstick cookware. The higher the heat the more the opportunity to wear away at the coating of your cookware. And after you reach a certain level of heat your cookware can start releasing toxic emissions.

Thanks for Reading

By avoiding these mistakes you will find that you will have cookware that lasts much longer than if you were not to treat it correctly. By avoiding these mistakes you will have cookware that lasts a long time and performs great.

Even better, it’s much less expensive than buying a new grill brush each grilling season.

You can use this type of foil to protect pie crusts while you are preparing things like pies. It is very simple to create a makeshift pie protector to shield your pie crusts. This will save you a lot of frustration when you are baking in your kitchen.

You can also make foil packets to cook food in. You can use it on the grill or in the oven. It will assist in making clean-up much simpler.  It also helps cook food that may not stay together on the grill or in the oven. All you need is a little bit of aluminum foil to make a foil packet to cook your food in.

Make Your Own Pan

You can customize the size of your pan by using aluminum foil. This is great news if you need a larger pan but do not have one. It is a very simple procedure to change the size of your pan using this type of foil. When it comes time for your child’s next birthday you may be wondering just what food to serve. You want to be able to serve something that everyone attending the party will enjoy. Here are some tips for planning the menu for your child’s next birthday, from DealDash.

Presentation Counts

You will want to make all that you can in advance of the party. This means that you will have more time to enjoy the party as you can just bring out the food ass needed. You also want to keep it really simple. Kids will likely go for healthier snacks if they are presented well. For example, you could offer them fish in a stream which is celery willed with cream cheese with goldfish sprinkled on top.

A Little Junk Food is Okay

You should also consider whether or not you should add some kids favorites like nachos or pigs in a blanket. That way not only will your child be able to enjoy some healthy treats they should be able to enjoy some of their favorite party foods as well. You will want to (no matter what you serve) make sure that it is colorful and offers a variety of different textures.

Change Things Up

You could also consider varying the ingredients that you are using. You could make tortilla wraps instead of sandwiches. Also, you could offer cake pops, pudding or doughnuts instead of a more traditional cake and ice cream dessert. You will be really surprised as to what the kids will enjoy when you decide to change things up a bit when it comes to the food that you are serving.

DealDash Kids: Baby Bath Time!

DealDash

When it comes to baby bath time you need to follow these tips to make things go smoothly. Read on for some tips from DealDash for washing the baby.

When it comes to bathing your baby things can be quite difficult especially if you’re a new parent.  You need to make sure that you have everything in close range so you can grab things quickly and you need to also be able to pay close attention to your child.  Here are a few things that you will require when it is bath time for your baby, from DealDash.

Baby Shampoo

You’ll need to get soap and shampoo that are made for bathing a baby.  You do not want to use adult shampoo or soap on a baby. You need to make sure that all of the soap and shampoo that you buy for bathing your baby is formulated for use specifically for babies. The shampoo and babies are meant to be tear-free, just in case you accidentally get it in your baby’s eyes.

Gentle Washcloths

You also want to make sure you get sponges and washcloths that you can use during bath time. If you can find bamboo fabric washcloths these are the most gentle for baby’s skin. Using these will be a fast and simple way to get your baby clean. You always want to remember to wash out the sponges and washcloths that you use after bathtime. You want to make sure you do not have to deal with any mildew or bacteria forming on them.

Bathtub for Baby

Getting a baby bathtub is a smart move especially if you’re a new parent.  Many of them come with a built-in seat and also often come with slip protection. This is so you do not have to worry about your baby slipping while you’re bathing them. Trust me, once you have soaped up the baby they will become quite slippery. If you want to keep the baby occupied while you’re bathing them you could also get some toys that they can play with. Things like rubber ducks and colorful animals are a great way to keep the baby occupied while you are bathing them.

Drying the Baby

After bathing, you will, of course, need a dry towel to dry your baby off. Again, I suggest bamboo fabric if you can find it. I personally prefer the type of baby towel that has a built-in hood for drying their hair.

Once you are done bathing and drying your child you’ll be ready to apply powder and lotion if you so choose.

Thanks for Reading

Bathing a newborn can seem intimidating. However, if you take the time to prepare you’ll see that the entire process will go a whole lot more smoothly. Follow these tips from DealDash and see how much easier bathing your baby can be.

DealDash Gardens: Why Your Plants Aren’t Growing

DealDash

There are many reasons why your plants and flowers might not be growing. Here are three reasons, from DealDash.

Gardening can be a fun activity and favorite hobby. Sometimes people have a hard time growing plants and other people have a green thumb. Regardless if you are good at growing plants or not, you can learn how to grow plants fast. There may be some reasons that you are not aware of that may be stopping you from growing plants. Here are three, from DealDash.

Watering

Plants need watering on a daily basis, but sometimes you can water them too much or too little. When you have too much water it can cause the plants to have poor roots and weak branches. When you don’t have enough water for your plants, it can cause restrictive growth. It is best to water your plants at the roots early in the morning, or in the evening as the sun is setting. This is also the best time to water your lawn as well.

Not Enough Fertilizing

If you find that your plants are not growing fast enough or if their leaves are dying your plant is most likely not getting enough nutrients. To prevent the lack of nutrients, you should fertilize your plants every third time you water your plants. If your plants are in a garden, you should fertilize them once a month. It is best to use slow release fertilizers because they are environmentally friendly. You can find a large selection at a place like Lowe’s. If you would like to shop for your fertilizer at Lowe’s, be sure to stop by DealDash first and win or BIN (Buy It Now) a gift card.

Not Enough Sunlight

The sun is a crucial part of a plants growth. Sunlight gives your plants energy and will help them produce beautiful flowers.  Plants that need only a little bit of sunlight need about four hours of sunlight a day. Plants that need sunlight full-time should have at least six hours of sunlight a day. If your plants do not receive enough sunlight, they will look weak and also look unhealthy. Getting enough sunlight for your plants is very important. If you see that your plants aren’t getting enough sunlight you might want to think about moving them to a different area of your garden.

Thanks for Reading

Now that you know the three reasons why your plants are not growing, you should have a better idea on how to grow your garden successfully. If you follow these tips you will have a garden filled with beautiful flowers and plants to enjoy.

DealDash Cleans: Triage Tips for Spring Cleaning

Now that Spring is in full-force it’s time for cleaning. Here are some cleaning triage tips from DealDash.

Spring is here, and with it comes the inevitable urge to clean the clutter. Whether it’s a personal motivation or pressures from your friends and family, here is a list of useful tips for getting started. You will push through it, and finish up with a neater closet than before. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Eat and Hydrate Beforehand

Before you get to work cleaning, stay hydrated and eat a healthy meal. This one is simple. Suppose you’re trying to clean, but can’t focus because you’re too thirsty or haven’t eaten since breakfast.  We’ve all been there. Regardless of what our goal is, it is easier to achieve without the distraction of hunger.

What is Triage?

Here’s the big one that makes or breaks efficiency: triage.  Triage was introduced to the medical field in the American Civil War in order to save resources. Before treating anyone, a combat nurse would examine the damages a soldier had and put him into one of three groups: those who would survive without treatment, those who could survive with treatment but would die without, and those who would die regardless of treatment.  The doctors focused solely on the middle group.

Applying Triage to Cleaning

We can apply the concept of triage to spring cleaning in a similar way.  Start your cleaning session by making room for four neat piles. Then, focus on one small area at a time. For example, the bedroom closet. One by one, pull each item out and ask yourself what you want to do with it.  Do you want to keep it? Is it trash? Can it be put in a yard sale or donated to someone who needs it? Or are you on the fence and want to decide later? That’s what the fourth pile is for.  Remember, starting out efficiently motivates you to follow through much better, so leave all the tough choices for later.

Take Care of the Piles

Finally, once you’re done triaging the items, do what you must with them.  Throw the trash away. Prepare the donations and yard sale items for their destination.  Before you organize the keepers, now is when you make the tough decisions you didn’t make earlier.  What are you going to do with that sweater Grandma made you in 8th grade that you don’t wear anymore?  When you’re finished with that, organize the keepers and put them back into your closet. Done! Now it’s time to move on to the next area.

Thanks for Reading

Look back on what you did today. It wasn’t that hard, was it? Once you found a system that was easier, time went by fast, and now you feel very accomplished, right?  Remember the feeling, because that will help you for next year’s spring cleaning. Cleaning your house takes a lot of work, but with these tips, it will make the process faster and easier.
