DealDash Kids: Get Them Back to School Successfully

DealDash

All parents want their kids to be successful at school. Here are some tips from DealDash to help them on their way.

School either has started or will be starting soon. Parents want to be sure to help their kids make the transition back to school as successful as possible. Here are some tips to help make the start of the school year as successful as possible for your children, from DealDash.

Ease Their Fears

You want to take the time to help calm any fears that your child may be having with going back to school. If you have younger kids or kids entering high school you may want to take them to see the school possibly at an open house so your child can get used to their new surroundings. Being able to see where they will be spending their time while in school can go far in calming any jitters that they might be having about heading back to school.

Get Back Into a Routine

Make sure they get back into a morning school routine. This will be extremely helping in making sure the back to school transition goes smoothly. You need to start their morning school routine about one to two weeks before they are ready to head back to school. It will make things much simpler for everyone when it comes to getting ready in the morning.

Cut Down on Screen Time

You will also want to consider monitoring time on electronics for your kids. With school starting you want your kids to concentrate on their school work and not their electronics so limit their electronics time during the school week. While you kids may not be happy with you it will show to be very beneficial when it comes to their school work.

Make Sure They Have Supplies – Check DealDash

Finally, be sure that they have the school supplies they need. Even kids as young as Kindergarten sometimes need a computer or tablet to do school work. Get a list of which school supplies your kids need from their teacher and be sure that they have everything on the list. Check DealDash if you need any electronics or gift cards.

Thanks for Reading

These are just a few of the things that you can do in order to get your kids prepared for success at school. Keeping tips like these in mind when school is starting or getting ready to start and you will find that your kids will have a much simpler time in successfully transitioning back to school and having a great school year.

DealDash Helps Connect to Family

DealDash connects family

When your family lives far away it’s hard to connect. Let DealDash help you.

I bet you’re wondering how a shopping entertainment website can help you connect with your family. The number one way to keep in touch with your family is the internet, of course, and DealDash can help you keep up with the latest in technology. There are other ways to connect to your family, of course, but let’s talk about the technological ones first.

Video calls. You can use Skype, Facetime, or any number of smaller websites to video chat with your loved ones. You’ll need a current computer or tablet, though, so be sure that you check out DealDash‘s electronics and computers category to make sure that you’re up to date.

Another fun way to keep in touch with far away family members is group messaging on your smartphone. It’s easy to add multiple people to a group chat on your phone’s texting program, and you can keep in touch with family members, and help other family members stay connected to each other, as well. If you’re looking for a new smartphone, be sure to check DealDash first.

There are many other websites that have social media aspects that you can take advantage of so you can stay connected to family. A few of my favorites are Pinterest, My Fitness Pal, YouTube, and Twitter. By using these sites you can keep in touch with family and also make some new friends.

All of the above ways make use of modern technology that some of your older relatives might not understand or want to use. For these relatives, you will have to either call them on the phone or send them something in the mail. If you’re not really a phone person (I’m not!) it might be more fun to get postcards and write your older relatives a short message on a postcard every few weeks. If you’d prefer something more personalized, you can print out some photos on 4X6 photo paper and use those as postcards.

Lastly, everyone from kids on up to seniors would enjoy getting a small package in the mail. Collect a few things that remind you of the recipient such as a favorite candy, pictures, a magazine, or maybe even one of your wins from DealDash and send it out! Your relative will be so excited to get a fun package in the mail and will be sure to think of you fondly.

I hope that you found this DealDash article helpful. If you need anything such as a new computer, tablet, or gift be sure to check DealDash first. DealDash has everything you need for the home. Visit DealDash now. Good luck and happy bidding everyone.

Missing Your Family with DealDash

Everyone loves spending time with their family, but what about when one of your family members is far away? Here are some ideas from your friends at DealDash.

If you are missing a family member the emotions can be a little tough to deal with. It’s especially difficult if you are missing your child or your parent – someone who you are used to spending every day with, enjoying their company. The most important thing to remember is that it’s okay to feel a little sad when you think about them and miss them.

If the person is far away but still has access to their cell phone, computer, laptop, iPad, or other electronic device it will make things easier on everyone if you both learn how to do video chats with each other. If you have an iPhone or iPad then FaceTime should already be installed. If you have an android, or if you are using a computer, then there are a few different options such as Skype or Google Hangouts. There are lots of different options out there, and most of them are free to use. Video chatting isn’t exactly like having your loved one by your side, but it’s a great solution to be able to “see” them and hear them, versus just chatting on the phone. At my house we FaceTime Grandma and Grandpa every night while I am making dinner, so the kids can have a great relationship with them even though we live a few hours drive apart.

If you are feeling a little lonely for your family, why not send them a quick text? If you can’t think of anything to say other than “I miss you.” How about a quote? I found a lot of nice quotes just by Googling “Missing Family” such as “Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life” If you sent your Mom or your Grandma a quote like that, I bet they would be thrilled!

If you are missing your family but don’t have a way to Skype or Facetime with them, DealDash can help. DealDash always has the latest iPads, iPods, laptops, and cell phones available for auction. Be sure to check out DealDash’s Electronics & Computers category located at this link right here, and get ready to bid! Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Makes: a Pillow iPod Stand

You might not realize how much you need an iPad pillow stand until you have one. Here is a quick and easy lesson to get you started on your road to comfort with your iPad as your co-pilot.

The iPad pillow stand will cushion the iPad and keep it standing, and it will also be a very comfortable stand that can be placed on your lap or stomach while you are reading, FaceTiming, or browsing on DealDash.

Materials:

  • Pattern
  • large piece of soft and comfortable yet sturdy cloth for the pillow’s exterior – This should measure at least 16 inches long and 45 inches wide
  • Scissors
  • Chalk or a fabric pencil
  • Sewing needle and thread
  • Box cutter/Razor knife
  • Ruler
  • Large chunk of craft foam for the soft body of the pillow – You can get this at a craft, hobby, or sewing store
  • Sewing machine (optional)

Instructions:

  • The first thing that you are going to need is a pattern. You can get the pattern from this link right here: http://blog.ipevo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/PadPillow_sewing_pattern.pdf
  • Print out the pattern from the link. It will print the size that you need. Cut out the pattern, trace around them on your fabric with the chalk, and then cut out the sections from the cloth with the scissors.
  • Follow the directions that are enclosed in the pattern .pdf. You can then sew the pieces together using a sewing machine or the needle and thread. When you’re done sewing all three fabric cutouts together, you’ll have the basic shape of the iPad pillow stand. There will be an unsewn space in the back of the pillow to allow you to stuff the foam inside the fabric stand.
  • Next you need to cut the pieces of craft foam. Cut the first piece of craft foam using a ruler and box-cutter-type knife. This smaller piece should measure 12.6 x 9.1 x 1.6 inches.
  • After you have cut the basic shape and size then you need to shave down one side of the foam piece to form a semi-triangular shape instead of than leaving it as a simple rectangle.
  • After you’re done with the first piece of foam, cut the second triangular piece of foam. This larger piece should measure 6.3 x 5.7 x 12.6 inches where 6.3 inches is the base of the triangle, 5.7 inches is the height, and 12.6 inches is the length.
  • Next, put them into the fabric cover that you have sewn. Just add them one at a time, shoving them in through the opening of the fabric cover.
  • Lastly, sew up the seam that you have left open.

See, simple, easy, and fun! If you are looking for a project to do with your child, this would be a fun one, as long as your child is responsible enough to use the sharp materials. Please supervise your children closely.

Entertain Us on a Trip, DealDash

Taking a car trip can be fun for the whole family, but sometimes it can be hard to keep everyone entertained. Here are a few tips to keep everyone busy.

The first thing that you need to keep in mind when you are planning your trip is how long you are planning on being in the car, what stops that you are going to make, and if it’s likely that the passengers will have to be entertained the whole trip or if there will be some napping along the way.

If you are going on a long car trip with the family I am going to assume that you will have at least 1 or more kids in the car. With that said, it all depends on the age of the child/ren exactly how much entertaining that you will have to do and how much of the entertaining that they will be able to handle for themselves.

One of my favorite things to do before a trip is to make a playlist for the trip of songs that my family likes to sing along with. My kids (especially my daughter) love music, and will sing along to the latest Katy Perry and Taylor Swift songs like any little kid, but she also takes pride in the fact that she can sing along with songs that I grew up enjoying in the 90s! The playlists that I make I put on my iPod, which is such a time-saver. If you need to replace your iPod I would suggest checking out DealDash. Just click here and you will be taken to a page with the iPods that will be available to bid on or set an alert on. Just click the blue “Alert me” button and DealDash will send you a quick email when your item will be coming up for bid.

Another thing that my family finds very entertaining on road trips is snacks! There’s nothing like a chorus of children (and one husband) all whining “I’m hungry, I’m starving, feeeeeeed meeeee!” So I always make sure that I pack enough snacks for everyone to enjoy. In the case of the children I like to get the little snack sized bags and pack them each a bag of goldfish, pretzels, raisins, and fruit snacks. If I don’t pack them the exact same things it starts a big pout-fest, so I am sure to make things even.

The last thing that I always pack for our road trips is a neck pillow and blanket for everyone. I love to sleep on long trips if the kids are quiet, and I have a much higher chance of being able to nap myself if the kids are able to get comfy in the car. A word of caution, though, don’t give any kids under the age of 3 a neck pillow, please. It’s unlikely anything bad would happen, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I hope that this article gave you some ideas on how to entertain your family on a trip. Be sure to visit DealDash and check out the iPads, ipods, portable DVD players, and more in the Electronics and Computers category, located here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

The Deal Dash Deal You Deserve

DealDash ipad won

I have been a member of Deal Dash for almost two years. In fact, my two year DealDash.com anniversary is coming up in one month on May 22nd. I have purchased many items using the buy it now feature to get my bids back and I have been able to get some real good deals.

One of my best wins is the white Apple iPad Mini 16GB. I won this during a 50% off promotion – this is where the winner only pays half of the final sales price. I paid a total of $7.89 with free shipping and used 199 bids at 15¢ per bid. That comes to $29.85 worth of bids + $7.89 = $37.74 total price including the cost of my bids.

Some of the best bidding tips and advice I can share is for you to keep a count of the number of bids you are using. Make sure you know when you are coming close to bidding the equal value of the item so you don’t over bid or over spend. There’s a good article called Surprisingly Simple Calculation To Help You Determine How Many Bids To Use Before Stopping which I recommend you read to get a good idea about knowing when exactly to stop bidding.

My Deal Dash bidding strategy is to always stop bidding at the point it is time to use the buy it now feature and get my bids back. Take it from my experience that when bidding, even at 15 cents per bid, it does not take long to spend a considerable amount of money. So be careful, count your bids, know exactly how many bids you are going to use in the auction, and do not over spend; otherwise you’re not getting the deal you deserve.
