DealDash Helps You Cook a Thanksgiving Meal

With Thanksgiving only a month away, you will want to brush up on your turkey cooking skills. Here are some tips from DealDash to help you with cooking the big holiday meal.

Cooking Thanksgiving dinner is a wonderful way to show your family how much you love them this holiday season. However, cooking Thanksgiving dinner can be quite an undertaking, so you will want to read these tips from DealDash. Also, we are here to help!

Be Sure the Turkey is Fully Defrosted

Make certain the turkey is totally defrosted. Depending on the weight of your turkey you might have to keep it in the fridge for a few days. Safe storage space for your bird is important, too. Also, dealing with the bird and cooking techniques will vary as well as approximate cooking times for poultry.

Turkey Preparation Temperatures and Tips

Food preparation time might differ depending upon temperature level of the oven. When preparing turkey, make use of the instructions on turkey food preparation times that are typically included on the turkey packaging. Also, you won’t want your meat drying, so be sure to baste it every half hour throughout food preparation. Then, be sure to cover your turkey with aluminum foil throughout food preparation. Finally, uncover during the last thirty minutes to brown the skin and crisp it up.

Delicious Stuffing Recipe

If you’re making turkey, you will definitely want stuffing to go along with it. Here is a simple and delicious recipe for you to try. Many people like to cook the stuffing inside the turkey, but that can alter your cooking times. It’s better to cook it separately, that way everything will turn out just right!

  • 13 cups dry bread cubes – Make your own or buy prepared in a bag
  • 1cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken stock (try vegetable stock if vegetarians will be eating the stuffing)
  • 2 large eggs

  1. In a pan, saute the onion and celery in butter for 10 minutes or until the onion and celery are tender.
  2. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Pour the butter, onion and celery mixture over the breadcrumbs and mix. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well with a spoon.
  3. Spray a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray. Put the stuffing in the prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

DealDash’s Most Memorable Picnic

DealDash is here to help you plan the most memorable picnic of the summer. Read on for more information.

Summer is the perfect time to spend time with your family, and do some fun outside activities. The weather is getting warmer, and it is time to relax and have a good time. You may be wondering what are some good ways to spend time with your family outside during the summer. One of the best ways is to have a summer picnic.  Here are three tips to help you have the perfect summer picnic:

Pick the Right Spot

Picking the perfect spot is the first step in planning a summer picnic. You can have a picnic on the beach, or you can find an area where there is a lot of shade such as a park. Having a picnic in the shade is the best bet so your food can stay fresh. You also want to pick a spot that has a grassy area so you can put a blanket down. Be careful to watch out for ants and other critters before you put your blanket down.

Plan Your Menu

When it comes to planning a picnic your menu should not be complicated. Some suggestions are fried chicken, cold sandwiches, fruit, salads and various desserts such as brownies and cookies. It is important to also have a lot of beverages because of the heat.  It is essential to make sure that you do not bring food that melts easily because it will cause a mess. Even if you are bringing juice or lemonade it’s important to bring water for everyone as well.

Ward off Pests and Use Sunscreen

Bug spray is very important when it comes to a picnic. You should use bug spray and bring things to cover your food. You should also bring garbage bags to throw away your food when you finish eating. It is also important to bring sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. The minimum recommended SPF rating is 30 when you are planning on spending time outdoors. However, I personally use 50+ because I am very fair, it can’t hurt!

Thanks for Reading

I hope these tips will help you have a good time at your summer picnic. If you follow these tips, you will have a picnic that you will never forget. With a little advance planning, it will make things go a lot easier.

More Slow Cooker Tips from DealDash

Using a slow cooker can reduce the time you spend in the kitchen. Here are more tips from DealDash on using a slow cooker.

Using a slow cooker can be a wonderful alternative instead of the oven to prepare meals.  No matter if you have used a slow cooker before or are new to using this kitchen we can help. Here are some tips that you should keep in mind when preparing your next meal. As always, DealDash loves to share kitchen tips with you.

Don’t Add Too Much Liquid

You should know that you do not need to use a lot of liquids when using a slow cooker.  The slow cooker will gather all the moisture that it needs on its own. Only a small amount of extra liquid is required.  You should also be made aware that any dairy products that you need to add to your slow cooker meal should be added at the end so they do not curdle.

Use Cheaper Meat

A huge benefit of using a slow cooker to prepare meals is that you can prepare tougher cuts of meat in your crockpot.  By cooking the meat properly with the crockpot you will see that tougher cuts will turn out very tender.  This can save you a lot of money on your grocery bill as you can purchase less expensive cuts of meat. As a mom of three, I like to do anything that I can to save money on the weekly grocery bill.

Slice Those Veggies

Another tip that you should keep in mind when you’re looking to make a meal in a slow cooker is that vegetables will take a longer time to be prepared than meat. So you will want to make sure that they’re cut in small, thin, uniform layers.  This way you know there will be prepared properly and all of the vegetables will be done at the same time.

Save Energy

If you’re looking to save money using a crockpot will be very helpful to your monthly budget.  Using a slow cooker will keep your kitchen cooler. Also, it will use less energy so it is a great alternative for preparing your next meal.

Thanks for Reading

If you’ve used the slow cooker before or are new to the slow cooker, you should consider what a wonderful kitchen tool it is. It will be very beneficial when you are planning your next meal. Also, it is definitely worth the investment if you are looking for a  great way to prepare foods easily and deliciously. You can save money by getting your slow cooker on DealDash.

I hope that you found this DealDash article on using a slow cooker interesting. We have a new article here on DealDash Reviewed every single day. It could be cooking, family, crafting, health, or lifestyle. Check back every day to see what the article of the day is on DealDash Reviewed.

DealDash Makes Delicious Breakfast

dealdash makes breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Many people don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning. Here are some ideas from DealDash.

Not everyone has time to make a full breakfast every morning – or any morning for that matter! That doesn’t mean that you should skip breakfast, though! If you can manage to make a small breakfast you will have a much more productive day than if you skipped it. Here are some quick breakfast tips from DealDash for you to try.

Easy Smoothie

Blend frozen fruit (banana and berries work well) with Greek yogurt and your choice of milk or juice, and freeze overnight. You can then thaw throughout the day to enjoy in the afternoon or blend it up again in the morning.

Instant Oatmeal and Fruit

Change up your boring instant oatmeal in the morning with sliced fruit. You can use fresh fruit or frozen. If you are in too much of a hurry to slice the fruit you can always toss it in the blender on the “chop” setting and it will do all of the hard work for you.

Savory Oatmeal

Take oatmeal in a different direction by making it savory. Prepare as usual with milk or water, but add a pinch of salt and pepper instead of any cinnamon or sugar. Then top with an over-easy or poached egg and sprinkle on a little cheese if you’d like to take it up an extra notch.

Super Quick Eggs

If you like eggs but you’re in a hurry try a microwave coffee cup scramble. Coat a microwave-safe coffee cup with cooking spray. Add 2 eggs and 2 TBS milk, then beat with a fork until blended. Microwave on high for 45 seconds; stir. Microwave until eggs are almost set, about 45 seconds longer. Add toppings if you’d like – cheese, salt and pepper, onions, ketchup, etc. Take it to go!

Full Breakfast in a Hurry

Having a full breakfast would be optimal, though, and you can achieve that in a hurry with the Hamilton Beach Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker. It’s easy to use the breakfast sandwich maker, simply choose your bread and layer on the fixings that you like such as egg, cheese, precooked meat or your choice of ingredients. Cook two breakfast sandwiches to perfection and to your preferences, and know when it’s ready with the built-in digital timer. In five minutes or less, two hot and delicious breakfast sandwiches are ready to serve. Does that sound delicious? You bet it does! Luckily DealDash carries the Hamilton Beach Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker!

DealDash Cooks: Zucchini Noodles

Image result for zucchini noodles

Veggie spiral slicers have been all the rage this past summer, and making zucchini noodle “pasta” has never been easier. Here is a delicious recipe for Zucchini “Pasta” with meatballs.

I never thought that I would be a supporter of zucchini pasta, but here we are in 2016, and I am here to say that it’s pretty good! If you are trying to get healthier and are counting carbs, then zucchini pasta is the way to go. It’s significantly easier to make zucchini pasta with a spiral veggie cutter than making it by hand, but you can use whichever method that you feel comfortable with. And FYI, those spiral veggie cutters are very affordably gotten at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Don’t forget to use your 20% off coupon that you can find on their website, as well as using a Bed, Bath, and Beyond gift card from DealDash!

  • 1 lb. ground beef (I like the 97/3, but use whatever you like)
  • 1/4 Cup Italian seasoned dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 Cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Cup Provolone cheese, grated
  • 10 grape (or cherry) tomatoes sliced in half
  • 2 garlic cloves, cleaned and minced
  • 2 Tbs extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 jar tomato pasta sauce (I like Ragu Super Chunky Mushroom, myself)
  • 1 can mushrooms (drained)
  • 4 medium zucchini, cut into noodles
  • Salt and Pepper

  1. Combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, approximately 1 garlic clove, and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper in a bowl. Form into 12 –  2″) beef meatballs.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until brown on all sides, approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and gently stir in pasta sauce and mushrooms. Simmer, turning meatballs occasionally, until meatballs are cooked through, approximately 15 minutes.
  4. While sauce is simmering, heat 1 Tbs oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add zucchini noodles, tomatoes, and remaining minced garlic and cook until just tender, approximately 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve meatballs over noodles topped with Provolone and Parmesan cheese.

Yum, yum, yum! I am getting hungry just thinking about it. You can also add a nice side salad with Italian dressing to this, and make it a great meal. You can get some great new kitchen items from DealDash, as well as Bed, Bath, and Beyond gift cards. Simply visit DealDash at this link. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Feeds the Baby

As the mom of a 6 month old I am just starting to feed him baby food. It’s the messiest!

I am working on some ways to help keep the mess to a minimum. The first one is to stop using baby wipes on his face and hands! They just don’t work that well, smearing the food around rather than wiping it off. I bought some good quality bamboo baby wash cloths and use those during mealtimes instead. It seemed that the baby wipes were irritating his skin, and it’s much better since switching to the wash cloths.

A good high chair is helpful for trying to keep the mess at bay. The Graco DuoDiner 1 High Chair (pictured below) is great because the seat pad is wipeable or machine washable, depending on how messy that particular meal was. I was surprised to find that not all high chair pads are machine washable! Speaking of cleaning, the dishwasher-safe, pull-out insert makes clean up hassle-free. I personally try to just wipe everything down as soon as I’m done feeding the baby so nothing gets all caked on and yucky. The insert makes it quick and easy. If you’d like to check out the DuoDiner 1 High Chair on DealDash the link is right here.

Graco Childrens Products DuoDiner LX 3-in-1 High Chair

Another thing I would like to do is to start making my own baby food. It might not make things less messy, but at least I would know exactly what I was cleaning up! I’ve never tried to make baby food before, but from doing some reading it seems that you just need a food processor. DealDash has a good selection of food processors that would be perfect for making baby food. They have cheaper ones such as Ninja Master Prep, which is less expensive because it’s quite small – but it would be the perfect size to make baby food! If you’d like a more high-end food processor DealDash also has the KitchenAid KFP0922CU food processor which will slice and dice anything that you throw into it. Regardless of which food processor you pick rest assured that the baby food that you make at home will be tastier and more healthy due to the fresh fruits and veggies that you use to make your little darling’s meals.

Babyhood is such a fleeting thing, I can’t believe that my baby is just about halfway done being a baby and will be moving on to toddlerhood soon. Give your kids a hug, everyone, and then check out DealDash. DealDash has lots of items for babies, kids, and even teenagers in the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category. DealDash loves kids! DealDash Cooks: Chicken With Egg Noodles

Slow cookers are usually associated with cold weather foods like stews and pot roast, but here’s a delicious meal that’s just perfect for any kind of weather.

I always hate putting away my slow cooker for the spring and summer seasons. Slow cookers make life so much easier by helping you make delicious home cooked meals without spending too much of your valuable time in the kitchen. I’m always on the lookout for recipes that allow me to use my slow cooker for a seasonally appropriate meal.

Below is a delicious recipe that has become a staple in my household in any season. Even the pickiest kid will eat it, and that’s saying something!

  • 8 oz. egg noodles
  • 1 pound of chicken legs and thighs, skin removed
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 4 slice thick-cut bacon (about 6 ounces)
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tbsp. tomato paste
  • salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 3 medium carrots, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup frozen pearl onions
  • 3 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 2 stalks celery cut into 2-inch pieces

  1. Microwave the bacon between sheets of paper towels until cooked through, then cut into 2 inch pieces. If your family loves bacon then double the amount.
  2. Using your slow cooker, combine the wine, flour, tomato paste, salt (to taste), and pepper (to taste). Then using a whisk add in the chicken broth. Next, add the celery, carrots, onions, garlic, and bacon. Whisk until combined.
  3. Place the chicken in the slow cooker, meat (not bone) side down. Cook in the slow cooker approximately 3 to 4 hours on high or 5 to 6 hours on low.
  4. Just before dinner, cook the bag of egg noodles in salted boiling water until al dente. Transfer 1/4 cup cooking water to a skillet. Stir in olive oil, a squeeze of lemon juice, and salt and pepper (to taste).
  5. Serve chicken and veggies on top of the egg noodles.

This meal should only take about 30 minutes to prep, and then it can cook while you are at work, running errands, or bidding on DealDash all day! This is a wonderful meal that can be paired with a Pinot Grigio wine if desired.

If you’re in need of a new slow cooker or kitchen knives to do your food preparation with, be sure to check out DealDash. DealDash has all of these kitchen items and more. Just check out the Kitchen and Dining category at this link right here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

Hamilton Beach 5-Quart Portable Slow Cooker

DealDash Recipes: Homestyle Meatloaf

My kids might not agree, but I think that meatloaf is delicious! I am definitely not the best cook that I have ever met, but I have to brag a little when I say that my meatloaf is delightful.

Now that we are into the full swing of summer a lot of the local supermarkets around me are having really great sales on ground beef assuming that people are going to buy it to grill hamburgers. It’s only July and I am already a little tired of burgers. Let’s take that ground beef and turn it into yummy meatloaf.

  • 1.5 pounds of ground beef (or turkey, or pork, or a combination)
  • 1 slice of stale (or lightly toasted) bread very finely chopped into breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 very small white or yellow onion, chopped finely
  • 5 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup of milk

  • Combine all meat loaf ingredients
  • Form into loaf shape
  • Place into a loaf baking dish
  • Bake at 350 for 60-80 minutes, until done

Some people like to add additional ketchup to the top of the meatloaf for the final 15 minutes of baking. You can do this, or you can make a simple sauce to serve on top of the meatloaf when it’s served. You can make a sauce out of 3 Tablespoons brown sugar, 3 Tablespoons  apple cider vinegar, and 1/2 cup ketchup. Delicious!

This Homestyle Meatloaf recipe should serve about 4 adults, but if you are having a family dinner with the grandparents or the aunts and uncles it’s a very easy recipe to double and make two separate loaves and bake them at the same time. This Homestyle Meatloaf also goes wonderfully with homemade mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Yum yum!

If you are in need of any of the supplies mentioned in the recipe, such as measuring cups, measuring spoons, a baking dish, or a new set of kitchen knives you should check out DealDash. DealDash has all of these kitchen items and so much more to explore and bid on. You can check out DealDash’s Kitchen and Dining category located at this link right here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

BakerEze 6-Piece Non-stick Bakeware Set

DealDash Cooks: Slow BBQ Chicken

Originally hailing from the South, I love BBQ! If it’s too hot in your kitchen this summer to cook, just use the slow cooker.

When you say Southern BBQ most people automatically think about pork. However, chicken can also make an awesomely delicious BBQ sandwich. The slow cooker is perfect for cooking BBQ, as the key cooking phrase of anyone versed in BBQ is “Low and Slow”, which is exactly what the slow cooker does.

Here is the recipe for cooking delicious slow cooker BBQ chicken, and also some dessert ideas.

  • 4 Boneless/skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1 (18 Ounce) bottle of BBQ sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray’s or Stubbs, personally)
  • 1/4 Cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon red pepper flakes (if desired)

  • Whisk BBQ sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes together in a bowl until the sugar dissolves
  • Put chicken breast halves in a slow cooker.
  • Pour sauce mixture over the chicken.
  • Cook on Low for approximately 6 hours.
  • Shred the chicken breasts with 2 forks
  • Serve on buns

As for dessert my family always liked to pair an ambrosia with BBQ. Here is a quick and easy Pink Ambrosia recipe:

  • Mix sweetened condensed milk, whipped topping, and vanilla extract together in a bowl
  • Fold cherry pie filling, pineapple, fruit cocktail, coconut, walnuts, and mini-marshmallows into the condensed milk mixture
  • Cover bowl and refrigerate overnight
  • Mix very well before serving

If you are in need of a new slow cooker to make BBQ chicken (or anything else, for that matter!) then head on over to DealDash. DealDash has a large selection of slow cookers at this link right here. DealDash also has just about anything else that you might need to make your recipes a success. Head on over to DealDash and check out the Kitchen and Dining category, which you can find right here.
