SPF, Always

I know that many people skimp on the SPF when it’s winter. They figure that they won’t be outside for long anyway, they are covered up with a scarf, etc. You should try to always wear an SPF no matter what time of the year, but it’s especially important in Spring and Summer that you are applying an SPF every single day before you leave the house. Many daytime moisturizers make this easy by including SPF in their formulas. If your moisturizer doesn’t include an SPF be sure to put at least an SPF 30 on your face every day before you go out in the Spring.

Trade in Your Heavy Moisturizer

Many people use a heavier moisturizer in the Winter. Now that it’s Spring you can trade in that heavy moisturizer for a lighter one. Most moisturizers can be used for up to a year after you open them. If you look at the bottle of moisturizer you should see a little symbol of a bottle opening and a number such as 12. This means that you can use it for 12 months after you have opened it. This makes it easy to know if you can re-use this moisturizer when Fall and Winter come around again.

Try to remember to write the date in Sharpie marker on the bottom of your bottle when you open your next one, this way you will know when it needs to be tossed. This will save you money and aggravation for next time.

Exfoliate that Winter Skin Away

Even though it’s warm and sunny now your skin might still be dry and dull from the winter. No problem! You just need to exfoliate that dead skin away. Many people like to use a face wash that has a crushed exfoliator in it, however, this is not what I would recommend. The most popular kinds of face wash with an exfoliator included either have crushed apricot pits in them. They might seem like they are great at exfoliating your face, but they are really causing tiny little micro-abrasions in your skin. A much better choice is to use a sonic face cleanser with a non-exfoliating face wash.

What Causes Anxiety?

People who suffer from it often cannot describe what causes them to feel this sense of distress. Unfortunately, this can become an impediment to a normal life if the anxiety becomes the center of their lives. 

Symptoms of This Disorder

The main symptom is the constant feeling of worry and nervousness even when there are no objective causes for it. Concerns can shift from one topic to another. These can include sentimental, economic, work, and family. Anxiety can always find a new motive. Even if you are aware of the main basis of your distress, it is difficult for people with anxiety to control it.

Other symptoms are more intense agitation, irritability, and more tension than usual or what would be reasonable in a given situation. People often have trouble concentrating and difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep.

Causes of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

One of them can be genetic because often several generations of the same family have it. There is also evidence that certain chemical changes in the brain can lead to an anxiety disorder. Anxiety often occurs along with other mental disorders, such as panic attacks or depression that affect serotonin levels.

Treatment of Anxiety

Treatment of mental illness is never straightforward and often involves different branches. These branches include therapy and medication. These include antidepressants (tricyclic, SSRIs), buspirone and (short-term) benzodiazepines. These medications should never be taken without medical supervision. Also, they need to be prescribed by your doctor.

Stress reduction methods are also often recommended. These methods can include exercise and relaxation techniques. Also, you can try dietary modifications. Reducing caffeine, stimulants, and alcohol can be especially helpful in reducing anxiety.

Other stress reduction methods can include long walks, hot baths, and spa treatments. Whatever makes you feel happy and relaxed should be at the top of your to-do list when your anxiety is bothering you.
