Tips From DealDash for Using a Snow Blower

dealdash

Using a snow blower can be mysterious if you are new to the experience. Here are some tips from DealDash to familiarize yourself with your snow blower.

Snow blowers will certainly permit you to comfy up inside your home for much longer during the winter time than if you were to only use a shovel. Using a snow blower will shorten the time that you need to spend on snow removal by hours! However, they are not completely intuitive to use. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to be the master of your snow blower.

Single Stage Snow Blowers

These snow blowers are gas engine operated. A single stage snow blower has an auger made out of a mix of steel and also plastic or strong rubber. In a single stage blower, the device is self-propelling as it glides on snow.

Two-Stage Snow Blower

A two-stage snow blower actually has power assisted wheels that are extremely helpful if you are trying to clear a very large driveway, parking area, or walkway. However, these snow blowers are a little more dangerous to use than a single stage blower that is powered by the user. Be sure that you take safety measures, such as wearing shoes that have a lot of traction, or even getting  some ice grips to put on your boots for extra stability.

Snow Blowing Tips

  • You will need to determine which direction the wind is blowing before you start up your snow blower. Simply stand outside and feel the wind or look at the snow and see what direction it is blowing in the wind.
  • Also, you will need a place to put all of the snow that you are displacing from your driveway. You need to blow the snow away from your home, walkway, and driveway. Most people choose to blow the snow towards their lawn or the area between their house and their neighbor’s. Be sure not to blow the snow into the street, as this is not allowed in most towns.
  • Finally, you will want to be sure to check the condition of your snow blower before you use it. Check to see that everything is in good working order before you get started. It will save you time in the long run.

DealDash Helps Winterize Your Backyard

DealDash

Now is the time to start winterizing your lawn and garden. Here are some tips from DealDash to get the job done.

Your outside plants have looked beautiful for you all summer long, making your backyard a location you’re proud of. Effectively winterizing your grass and also yard plants is an essential tool for healthy turf, as well as strong plants following year. You should also keep in mind to care for your exterior lawn devices, including your grass and horticulture items, and also all of your yard decorations. A little time invested this fall will certainly make your plants, grass, and landscape design a lot more pleasurable the following springtime! Read on for some great tips and information from DealDash.

A Little Work Now, an Easier Time Later

Always begin with the simple work. Firstly, you will want to either cover or store away your delicate planters and wind chimes, as well as your deck furnishings. Unglazed terra-cotta planters left full of dirt outdoors will certainly frequently burst or crack in the freezing temperature levels. It is best to cleanse them and also put them in a storage space location where they are safeguarded from the outdoors. This actally happened to me last year – I left a terra-cotta pot outside, and by the time of the first snowfall my pot had cracked down the side and is not useless.

Relocate Your Bird Feeders

Fall is the season to relocate your birdfeeders and also to begin equipping your winter month’s animal feeding cupboard. Your feathery pals will certainly be crowding to your feeders for that nourishing nibble during the winter. Keep in mind to maintain your feeders during the wintertime as the birds require trusted food resources via the cold weather. Try to relocate your bird feeders to a place that will still be accessible to you when there is snow on the ground. A bird feeder with no way to put food in it is no good to your little chirpy friends.

Take Care of the Garden

After doing the simple jobs, carry on to the tougher winterizing tasks. Prepare to winterize the veggie patch. After the initial frost, eliminate the yearly plants as well as dead plant life. You can include this product to your compost heap. You’ll also want to pull seasonal weeds, then put down mulch in your yard for the wintertime. Consider using rubber mulch, as you will have to put down much, much less each year compared to traditional mulch.

Raking the Leaves

In most lawns, there’s the significant task of raking fallen leaves. These are excellent either in the compost heap or as straight compost on the yard. Seasonal blossoms should be surrounded by a hefty layer of compost. Wait to trim your trees till later on in the winter months.

Cover Your Hedges

After the ground freezes, you can mulch your seasonal blossoms as well as recently grown trees. Some hedges will require being covered in cloth to shield them from wind damages, sunlight scald, and also various other winter months injury such as snow.

Care for Your Mower

Finally, be sure to put away your lawnmower properly for the winter. Drain the gas from your lawnmower into a container for disposal. If you do not wish to ‘lose’ that little of gas, include a gas conditioner prior to the long winter season. Make sure to comply with the instructions on the bottle.

Also, care for every one of your landscape design tools prior to storing it for the cool winter season. Wash them and also dry them. If you take time to hone the blades before putting them away, you’ll see that the first grass trimming task in the springtime will be a little bit less complicated. As a final task, care for their fresh sharp blades by using a little spray oil for the blades. Then all that’s left to do is store them somewhere dry like your garage, shed, or basement.

Need a Place to Store Your Tools?

DealDash offers many storage solutions for lawn and garden equipment. If you go to the Home, Garden, and Tools category on DealDash you will find many choices. There are many different styles such as wall units, shelving, and free-standing closets. These items look great in a basement, garage, or workshop.

How to Keep Busy When Snowed In – DealDash

DealDash Reviewed snowman

Being snowed in and unable to leave the house is no fun! Here are some inside activities to keep you busy while you wait.

Young, middle-aged, or older, there’s nothing fun about being unable to leave the house if you want to. You never realize how much you need a little time outside of the house until you can’t go further than your driveway to shovel or snow blow. Here are some ideas from DealDash to keep you occupied.

Clean Out the Fridge

There’s no better time to use up all of the leftovers and random items in your fridge than when you’re snowed in. You never know when the power might go out due to too much ice and snow on the power lines, so figure out what you can cook and eat today and what needs to be thrown away.

Build a Donation Pile

Today is the perfect day to go through all of your winter clothing and see what is appropriate to donate. Give away anything that is too small or that you haven’t worn yet this winter. Also, donate items that you don’t plan on wearing anymore after this winter is over.

Besides clothing, see if there are any old towels, sheets, or comforters that you can donate. If you’re planning on getting new bedding or towels in the near future, why not donate these now? Then see if you can win some new ones on DealDash? If you don’t happen to win you can always BIN (Buy It Now). You will receive all of your bids back as well as get free shipping on the items. Isn’t that a great deal?

Binge Watch That TV Show

Binge-watching TV isn’t usually an activity that I recommend. However, if you’re stuck inside your house for the next day or so, why not? Make some hot cocoa, pop some popcorn, and settle in for a long day of TV watching. Enjoy the show!

Hey, you’re stuck inside anyway, why not spend the day bidding on DealDash?! DealDash will keep you busy all day with auctions in all categories such as Computers & Electronics, Fashion, Health, & Beauty, Gift Cards, and more! DealDash Winter Weekend Fun Ideas

DealDash winter snow fun

Winter, snow, and fun aren’t normally words that I would put together. However, here are some ideas from DealDash to make this wintery weekend lots of fun.

No matter what the weather outside it seems like my kids always want to go outside and play. I guess that’s what I get for limiting their screen time! Being originally from North Carolina I have an intense dislike of Boston winters, but I try to find fun outside activities anyway. Here are some fun outdoor activities from DealDash that you can do in winter. Some are for kids specifically, and some are for anyone 5-95!

Snow Painting

No, you don’t use real paint for snow painting, though it does require a couple of materials that you will have to be sure that you have on hand. You’ll need a clean squeeze bottle of any kind such as a ketchup, mustard, or shampoo bottle. You can also buy bottles at the dollar store that are meant to store ketchup and mustard. When you have your empty (clean) squeeze bottles, fill them with water that is colored with food coloring. Take them outside and draw pictures on the snow.

Snow Creatures

If the kids are tired of making the same old snowman every snowstorm, why not try to make snow creatures next time instead? There are plenty of critters that are fairly simple to make out of the snow such as a sea turtle or a snake.

You don’t have to stick to real animals, either! Have a contest to see who can make the most interesting snow creature using the snow and whatever other materials that can be found in your yard such as stones, sticks, leaves, etc.

Winter Walk & Animal Hunt

Not that kind of hunting! Before you leave your house make a checklist of animals that you are reasonably likely to see in your neighborhood or local park such as rabbits, birds, squirrels, skunks, possums, deer, etc. See if you can find all of the animals on your checklist.

Snow Throw

Make a large bullseye target out of a cardboard box and take it outside. Mount it in a tree, on a fence, or on top of the car. See who can get the most direct hits to the target with snowballs. You could also make multiple targets and put them at different distances so younger and older players have a fair playing field.

If you decide to stay indoors instead, don’t forget to read the DealDash Tips  and Reviews Blogs daily to stay “in the loop” when it comes up upcoming DealDash promotions and sales.

DealDash Winter Dates

Image result for winter date ideas

Winter is not typically a time that’s great for dating if you live somewhere that gets a lot of snow. Here are some indoor and outdoor date ideas from DealDash.

Burrrrrr! Who wants to leave the house when it’s cold and snowy outside? Well, if you’ve got a hot date, maybe it will motivate you to take off those fuzzy slippers and put on some boots instead. DealDash has some fun and relatively inexpensive winter date ideas.

Ice Skating

I’m personally not a fan of ice skating, but lots of people love it! If you look at the happy couple above you can see that they are having a lot of fun out on the ice even though they might not be the best skaters. There’s a learning curve to ice skating, maybe you could challenge your date to learn how to ice skate well by the end of the winter.

Movies

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are all times when great new movies usually come out. Get your fill of popcorn and romantic comedies at the movie theater this winter. Pro tip: Check the theaters near you, any theaters have discounted evening movies on Tuesdays or Wednesdays during the week.

Tubing

Tubing is the grown-up version of sledding down a hill. Normally you trudge up a giant hill with your tube in hand, similar to the water-tubing rides at the water park in the summer. It’s a lot of fun and doesn’t require a lot of skill like skiing or snowboarding does.

Make Cookies

Cookies aren’t just for Christmas! Get out that KitchenAid stand mixer and whip up some delicious cookies with your date. And even better, the second part of the date is eating the cookies! If you’re not much for cookies, how about pie instead? The first crops of strawberries and blueberries seem to be arriving at the supermarket right about now, get some and make a delicious pie.

Hockey Game

There’s no more appropriate sport for winter than hockey. Get out there and show some team spirit and go see a hockey game on your date. Do matching face paint for bonus couple’s points!
