DealDash Beauty: Spa and Aromatherapy

DealDash

If you enjoy spa treatments you will want to learn more about aromatherapy. Here is some information that you’ll want to read, from DealDash.

Aromatherapy has become extremely popular over the past few years. However, is it something that would be beneficial for you? Here are some things to keep in mind so you can decide for yourself if aromatherapy will work for you. Read on for things you need to know, from DealDash.

Why Use Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy serves a few different purposes, such as using peppermint oil to combat upset stomachs and lavender oil to aid in a good night of sleep or simply to make your house smell delightful. Many people tie positive memories to certain smells, such as cinnamon reminds many people of the holidays, and citrus can make people think of summer. These are a few reasons why you might want to use aromatherapy in your home.

How Can Aromatherapy be Used?

Remember that there are many different ways of using oils for Aromatherapy. You can use a diffuser or make a spray to apply to your pillow just to name a few. How you use oils will determine how you react to them which will help you determine how helpful they actually happen to be. You can use the essential oils as a massage oil as long as you mix it with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil.

Many people prefer to just use it the most simple way, which is by using an oil diffuser in their home. However, you might want to use the oils in a different way such as in the bathtub. So be sure to do your reading when it comes to Aromatherapy.

Where Can Essential Oils be Obtained?

Previously, you could only find essential oils in health or specialty stores. Nowadays you can find essential oils just about everywhere, from your local big box store to the grocery store. If you would like to get your essential oils from a store like Target or Wal-Mart, you can get a gift card from DealDash.

Bidding on a gift card from DealDash is a great idea because if you don’t win, you can always BIN (Buy It Now). After you have paid the face value of the card DealDash will return all of the bids that you spent in the auction for the gift card, and give you free shipping, too! So will aromatherapy be beneficial to you? Many people swear by the success that they have had using essential oils while others have not had any results. The best thing that you can do for yourself is doing your research so that you can make up your own mind as far as if aromatherapy would be beneficial to you.

DealDash Budget Pampering Tips

DealDash

Pampering is for everyone, even if you’re on a budget. Here are some tips on pampering yourself if you’re on a tight budget, from DealDash.

Everyone needs to treat themselves once in awhile. Everyday life can be very stressful, and sometimes you need a break. Pampering yourself is the best way to take a break from the stressors in your life.  You may think that you have to go out and spend a lot of money on a spa day. Luckily there are ways to pamper yourself and also save a lot of money. Here are 3 inexpensive ways to pamper yourself on a budget, from DealDash.

Take a Nice Bubble Bath

One of the best ways to pamper yourself on a budget is to create a spa atmosphere by taking a bubble bath. You can buy candles and bath bombs to make your bubble bath relaxing. Even better, you can even turn off the lights and just light the candles. You can also listen to some relaxing music. Many stores sell bubbles and bath bombs that will help you relax.  Taking a nice bubble bath after a long day of work can help you feel pampered.

Go on a Local Vacation

Going on a “staycation” can be a great choice for relaxation and pampering. A staycation is a mini vacation that you take locally. You can stay at a nice hotel and treat yourself to a luxurious vacation without going out of town. Make sure that you turn off your phone and don’t check any work-related emails while you are on your staycation. You can even combine the staycation and the bubble bath in one amazing pampering day!

Give Yourself a Manicure

The next time you want to get your nails done you should skip the nail salon. Painting your own nails is a great way to pamper yourself. You can choose from many different colors of nail polish and nail art designs.  Buying nail polish will save you a lot of money instead of going to a salon. If you are able to find the nail polish that is sold as “gel polish without a UV light”, then this polish will last for a long time and look great! Give it a try.

Pampering yourself does not have to be expensive. These 3 ways to pamper yourself will help you relax all while saving money. In addition to these ideas, you can also get pampering and spa items on DealDash. There are pampering kits, sonic facial brushes, and much more to choose from.

DealDash Beauty: Spring Skincare Tips

DealDash

Now that the weather is warming up your skincare routine needs to change a little. Here are some Spring skincare tips from DealDash.

The weather is warm and the sun is shining, however, your skin might still be a little dull and flakey from the long winter. There are a few things that should change in your skincare routine now that it’s warmer out. Read on for more information from DealDash.

SPF, Always

I know that many people skimp on the SPF when it’s winter. They figure that they won’t be outside for long anyway, they are covered up with a scarf, etc. You should try to always wear an SPF no matter what time of the year, but it’s especially important in Spring and Summer that you are applying an SPF every single day before you leave the house. Many daytime moisturizers make this easy by including SPF in their formulas. If your moisturizer doesn’t include an SPF be sure to put at least an SPF 30 on your face every day before you go out in the Spring.

Trade in Your Heavy Moisturizer

Many people use a heavier moisturizer in the Winter. Now that it’s Spring you can trade in that heavy moisturizer for a lighter one. Most moisturizers can be used for up to a year after you open them. If you look at the bottle of moisturizer you should see a little symbol of a bottle opening and a number such as 12. This means that you can use it for 12 months after you have opened it. This makes it easy to know if you can re-use this moisturizer when Fall and Winter come around again.

Try to remember to write the date in Sharpie marker on the bottom of your bottle when you open your next one, this way you will know when it needs to be tossed. This will save you money and aggravation for next time.

Exfoliate that Winter Skin Away

Even though it’s warm and sunny now your skin might still be dry and dull from the winter. No problem! You just need to exfoliate that dead skin away. Many people like to use a face wash that has a crushed exfoliator in it, however, this is not what I would recommend. The most popular kinds of face wash with an exfoliator included either have crushed apricot pits in them. They might seem like they are great at exfoliating your face, but they are really causing tiny little micro-abrasions in your skin. A much better choice is to use a sonic face cleanser with a non-exfoliating face wash.

A sonic face cleanser is an excellent way to get rid of the dry and dull skin that Winter causes. DealDash carries sonic face cleansers and often has them up for auction. They are up for auction both singularly and also in bundle packages. If you would like to do your skin a favor and get a sonic facial brush, then click right here and check out the auctions on DealDash.

There are so many good reasons out there as to why you should change your skincare routine in the Spring. Try out these tips on skincare from DealDash, you will be happy that you did.

DealDash – Your Lifestyle Affects Your Sleep Cycle

DealDash How does your lifestyle affect your sleep cycle? Let DealDash explain it to you in this article.

We live in a society where the pace of life is hectic from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. More and more people are having some difficulty sleeping. Work, family, bills, and the atmosphere of the city where everyone is in a hurry- all these factors end up influencing our hormonal system in one way or another. This is usually in the form of stress, and as we know, a high level of stress means high levels of cortisol. There are a few things that you can do to help. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Take Some Time to Relax

It is important to be able to find some time during the day for ourselves to try to relax. This can mean strolling in a park, going to a library, listening to music, taking a relaxing bath, or doing another activity that we like. This is in order to try to reduce stress levels, and thus at the end of the day have more options to achieve a cycle of sleep-wake. The sleep-wake cycle allows us to rest and recover.

Sleep Disorders: Insomnia & Hypersomnia

Insomnia

Insomnia can be common in specific situations of high stress. Some examples include exams, health problems, major life changes, etc. However, it can become chronic and is no longer directly related to the problem that caused it. In order for us to be able to talk about insomnia at the level of illness or disorder, it must be “common,” which is considered three or more nights a week.

Indicators of insomnia may include involuntary waking before six and a half hours of rest, multiple instances of waking up at night without being able to get back to sleep in more than half an hour, or taking more than half an hour to fall asleep at bedtime. Again, having these things happen to you occasionally is not typically a problem. It’s only when this becomes common that it’s an issue.

Hypersomnia

Hypersomnia means excessive sleep during the day, and there are different syndromes and manifestations of different origins. For example, narcolepsy-cataplexy syndrome is characterized by uncontrollable sleep attacks, episodes of paralysis during sleep, hallucinations during sleep and/or cataplexy (loss of muscle tone).

Another syndrome, sleep apnea, affects mainly (but not only) hypertensive and obese people. In apnea, breathing stops during more or less long periods of sleep, which can lead to cardiac, neurological and social problems. There are medical treatments for apnea, such as the application of a continuous-entry oxygen mask, also known as a C-Pap. This is a serious disorder, and if you suspect you suffer from sleep apnea you should schedule a visit with your doctor.

Have Anxiety? DealDash Has Information

DealDash

Anxiety affects many people. If you are one of them, read this article from DealDash.

For starters, what is generalized anxiety disorder? A generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by a pattern of frequent and constant worry and nervousness. This can be regarding real or imaginary events. When this feeling lasts for more than six months, then you know that it is time to get treatment. Hopefully, if you read this article you will make the decision to go see a doctor about your anxiety. They are there to help. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

What Causes Anxiety?

People who suffer from it often cannot describe what causes them to feel this sense of distress. Unfortunately, this can become an impediment to a normal life if the anxiety becomes the center of their lives.

Symptoms of This Disorder

The main symptom is the constant feeling of worry and nervousness even when there are no objective causes for it. Concerns can shift from one topic to another. These can include sentimental, economic, work, and family. Anxiety can always find a new motive. Even if you are aware of the main basis of your distress, it is difficult for people with anxiety to control it.

Other symptoms are more intense agitation, irritability, and more tension than usual or what would be reasonable in a given situation. People often have trouble concentrating and difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep.

Physical symptoms may include a headache, tremors, sweating, heart palpitations, muscle pain, weight loss, and digestive problems.

Causes of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

It is not known for sure what causes a person to suffer from anxiety, but it does seem to be a set of several causes. One of them can be genetic because often several generations of the same family have it. There is also evidence that certain chemical changes in the brain can lead to an anxiety disorder. Anxiety often occurs along with other mental disorders, such as panic attacks or depression that affect serotonin levels.

Treatment of Anxiety

Treatment of mental illness is never straightforward and often involves different branches. These branches include therapy and medication. These include antidepressants (tricyclic, SSRIs), buspirone and (short-term) benzodiazepines. These medications should never be taken without medical supervision. Also, they need to be prescribed by your doctor.

Stress reduction methods are also often recommended. These methods can include exercise and relaxation techniques. Also, you can try dietary modifications. Reducing caffeine, stimulants, and alcohol can be especially helpful in reducing anxiety.

Other stress reduction methods can include long walks, hot baths, and spa treatments. Whatever makes you feel happy and relaxed should be at the top of your to-do list when your anxiety is bothering you.

DealDash Helps: Heal Your Rough Feet

DealDash

Your feet are one of your most important parts of your body. Take care of them with a little help from DealDash.

Your feet carry you from here to there without complaint. Why not do them a favor and take good care of them by healing the rough and dry parts? They will not only feel better but look nicer as well. Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash to keep your feet looking and feeling their best.

Exfoliate Those Puppies

Exfoliating your feet is one of the easiest ways to keep your feet nice and smooth instead of scaly and rough. Exfoliation can be done in quite a few different ways. Firstly, you’ll want to be sure that your feet have been softened up with water. This can be done by soaking them in a bowl or bucket of water, in the bathtub, or even just by waiting until the end of your shower.

Firstly, you’ll want to be sure that your feet have been softened up with water. This can be done by soaking them in a bowl or bucket of water, in the bathtub, or even just by waiting until the end of your shower.

Next, use your exfoliator of choice. You can use a pumice stone, a stiff brush, or even a cream exfoliator. Personally, I like the sugar based ones, because they dissolve in the water. If your feet need some extra TLC, then you can get one of the walnut based scrubs, instead.

Moisturizer Isn’t Just for Faces

Exfoliation will help take away the rough spots, but to keep them smooth for longer you’ll want to moisturize them daily. The best time to moisturize them is at night before bed. They even sell special socks that have a gel-like liner that will keep your feet moisturized all night.

The type of moisturizer that you use on your feet isn’t really important unless you happen to have a foot condition or diabetes. If you have either a foot condition or diabetes you need to consult your doctor before exfoliating or moisturizing your feet. If your feet are free of a pre-existing condition, then you can use anything from baby lotion to face lotion to body lotion to special foot lotion. They have special lotion for the feet that is scented like peppermint and is very soothing. However, any type of moisturizer is better than none on your feet, so feel free to use what you have.

Let’s Have a DealDash Spa Slumber Party

DealDash Spa

School is almost over, and your kids are going to be bored. Why not plan a spa slumber party with DealDash?

A spa slumber party can be fun for kids of all ages, from little kids up to grannies! However, it’s especially well-received by girls in Elementary and Middle school.  With a little preparation and some creativity, your spa slumber party will be a hit with your daughter or granddaughter and her little friends! Here are some tips, tricks, hints, and ideas from DealDash to make your party a success.

Make Some Decisions

There are many decisions that you’ll need to make before you have your spa slumber party, such as how many people you’re going to invite, what types of spa activities that you want to have, and what refreshments you’ll need. Once you’ve decided these things, the planning will go much more smoothly.

Who Will You Invite?

After you’ve decided who to invite, then you’ll need to make a guest list. If this is a party for teens or adults, then 6-8 guests is probably a good number, but the younger the guests, the less you should invite. For example, if this party is going to be for Kindergarteners, I would only invite 4 or so guests.

Once you have your guest list decided, then you can start inviting people. You can make a Facebook invitation, do e-vites, or even buy (or make) some paper invitations to send in the mail. It’s completely up to you. If you go the paper invitations route, be sure to put your email address on there as well as your phone number so people have the option to RSVP by either email or text.

Collect Your Supplies

After deciding what type of spa activities that you’re going to have at your party, then you can start collecting the supplies that you’ll need to make the night a success. Here are some examples of things that you might want to collect for your spa party:

  • Nail polishes in different colors
  • Nail polish remover
  • Q-tips
  • Cotton rounds
  • Things to make face masks such as eggs, oatmeal, avocado, honey
  • Towels
  • Make-up such as eye shadow, blush, eyeliner
  • Make-up remover wipes
  • Lotions
  • Facial scrubs
  • If you’re really adventurous – a home waxing kit!

Buy Snacks

You will most likely order take-out or pizza for dinner, but be sure that you have snacks, bottled water, and soda on hand. You can make Chex Mix, get pretzels and hummus dip, a mixed veggie plate, and some bags of microwave popcorn. This might be a spa slumber party, but when there’s a party involved, you’re always going to need snacks!

DealDash Skin: Minimizing Pores

DealDash skin pores

Pores. Everyone has them, and it’s an important part of skin care to take care of them. Here are some tips and suggestions from DealDash.

Contrary to popular belief, pores don’t grow and shrink at will. Rather, pores appear larger when they are dirty and clogged. Don’t believe claims of skin cleansers “shrinking” pores, they are just cleaning them out so they appear smaller. Here are some ideas from DealDash to keep your pores looking their best.

Take Off That Makeup

Removing your makeup at the end of the day is an important part of skin care. If you don’t wear makeup, you can skip this section. Removing your makeup before bed is important, your skin does most of it’s rejuvenating and healing at night when you’re sleeping, so be sure that you have a clean face to make things go more smoothly.

Take off your makeup using a makeup remover or a micellar water cleanser. Personally, I use a micellar water cleanser all over my face, and then remove my eye makeup with a makeup remover. After doing these two steps I splash water on my face and blot dry with a towel before putting on my serum, eye cream, and night time moisturizer.

Exfoliation = Smaller Appearing Pores

Using an exfoliant is an excellent way to keep your pores clean and therefore appearing smaller. Skip the drugstore scrub made of nut shells or fruit pits, and get one that is made with sugar or microbeads. The scrubs that are made up of the nut shells or fruit pits can scratch and injure your skin. Sugar scrubs are much better because the sugar just melts away and won’t scratch your delicate skin.

You can even make your own scrub! Make a cup of green tea and add a tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of honey after it’s cooled down a bit so it’s warm to the touch but not hot. Smooth the mixture over your face and gently rub it in circles to exfoliate your face. Rinse off with plain water and put dry.

Don’t Skip the Moisturizer

Moisturizing your skin morning and night is an important part of skin care and keeping your pores clean and healthy. After cleansing your skin morning and night be sure to apply a layer of moisturizer. I prefer a thinner moisturizer with SPF 30 during the day,\ and a thicker moisturizer at night. Taking good care of your skin by cleansing, using a scrub, and a moisturizer will keep your skin and pores looking beautifully healthy.

Soften Up Your Hands With DealDash

dealdash hands

Your hands are such an important and useful part of the body. Take care of them and pamper them with these tips from DealDash.

We are jumping into March, headed with an eye towards Spring. We’re so tired of Winter with of dry hands and papery crunchy skin. We should all take the best care of our hands possible, they are the only ones we get! Let DealDash help you take special care of your hands.

What Should You Put on Your Hands?

Hand Cream – You should put on plenty of hand cream. Putting it on once a day isn’t really going to cut it. Every time you wash your hands you should be slathering on the hand cream. The thicker the hand cream, the better.

Sunblock – Yes, sunblock! Your hands are almost always exposed to the sun when you’re outside, so you should protect it. The minimum SPF I would suggest is 30. If you’re going to be outside for a long amount of time I would suggest SPF 50.

Hand Mask – You’ve heard of face masks, right? A hand mask uses the same principal – and if you have a favorite face mask you can put it on your hands as well. Why not have a full-on pampering night and do a face mask as well as a hand mask?

What Should You Avoid?

If your hands are dry, cracked, and sensitive you need to take extra-special care of them. However, when you’re slathering on the hand creams, avoid creams that have too much perfume, alcohol or water in them. Even if they feel thick and comforting the additives will just dry them out even more.

DealDash Does DIY Facials

dealdash diy facial

Everyone needs a little pampering sometimes. Here is a recipe for a DIY facial from DealDash.

Have you been looking for a way to unwind after a busy day at the office or at home with the kids?  Do you want to do something to relax and also help beautify your skin?  Maybe you have a daughter who wants to have a spa day.  Everyone deserves some pampering, especially hardworking moms.  Here’s your guide to a DIY facial on a budget from DealDash.

Products Needed

  • Makeup remover
  • Gentle cleanser
  • Water
  • Facial scrub – or Make your own with honey & granulated sugar –
  • Face mask – Make it with avocado, banana, and olive oil –
  • Moisturizer

Directions

  1. Get set up.  Get your products together, tie back your hair, and put on some relaxing music or light a candle.  This routine is easiest in a bathroom or somewhere with easy access to a sink.
  2. Begin by removing any makeup and washing your face with a gentle cleanser.
  3. Fill a large bowl with steaming hot water, then hold your face over the bowl and drape a towel over the other side of your face.  Remain that way for 5-7 minutes.   This is similar to the steam treatment that many professional facials include, and both serve to open up the pores and allow other products to have deeper effects on the skin.
  4. Exfoliate the skin, either using a store-bought exfoliating scrub or by making your own.  A super simple recipe is to combine one part honey with two parts granulated sugar.  Sugar is an awesome natural exfoliate, and honey has antimicrobial properties that make it great for skin.
  5. Do a face mask.  There are a variety of store-bought masks available for purchase at a variety of price points, many of which are tailored to certain skin types, or you can make one of your own using ingredients you probably only have in your kitchen.  You may want to search online for a recipe that is specific to your skin type or one that uses a certain ingredient, or use this simple recipe: mix together half an avocado, a ripe banana, and one tablespoon of olive oil in a small bowl.  Apply to the face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
  6. Pat your face dry with a clean towel, finish up with a moisturizer and enjoy your glowing skin!

This is only one of many ways to do an at-home facial.  You can mix it up with different recipes or products, or you could also combine this activity with painting your nails or deep conditioning your hair for extra relaxation and pampering.   However you choose to use these steps, it’s always worthwhile to take some time to unwind and care for yourself.

DealDash Likes Coconut Oil

DEALDASH COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil is a very healthy and useful product. It can be used for many things. Let DealDash give you an overview.

Using coconut oil seems to have gained popularity in the past 5 years or so. It’s a very healthy oil that is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats might sound bad, but it actually increases the healthy cholesterol (known as HDL) in your body, but also helps to convert the LDL “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterols. Here are some of the many benefits and uses of coconut oil.

Lose Weight

They say that you can lose weight by consuming coconut oil because it’s metabolized differently than other oils. So by swapping out your canola oil for coconut oil you can reduce your calorie intake. Coconut oil is also said to keep you fuller for a longer period of time, reducing the total amount of calories that you are consuming in a day.

Conditions Hair

Many people like to use coconut oil as a deep-conditioning treatment on their hair. If you saturate your hair with coconut oil and put a shower cap on for a few hours it will be extremely healthy for your hair.

Coconut oil can also be used as a “sunblock” of sorts for your hair, one study has shown that coconut oil can block about 20% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays when applied to your hair.

Moisturizes Skin

You can use coconut oil as a skin moisturizer. Research has shown that coconut oil improves dermatitis and other skin disorders at least as well as mineral oil and other conventional moisturizers, and has the added benefits of being 100% natural as well as pleasant smelling and inexpensive. In a study of patients with eczema, 47% of those treated with coconut oil had major improvements in their skin.

You can also use coconut oil as a spa treatment for your dry winter feet. Coconut oil can help repair your cracked heels. Just apply a thin coat to your heels at bedtime, and cover with thick socks. Continue this treatment on a nightly basis until your heels are smooth and repaired.

DealDash Presents: Skin Care

As a certified aesthetician I am constantly being asked by friends and family for skin care tips. Now you can get the benefit of my esthetic training without having to pretend that you enjoy my cooking!

My number one important tip for having beautiful skin is directed mostly towards the ladies that wear make up – make sure that you wash your face before you go to sleep, and be sure that there’s nothing other than moisturizer on your face when you go to sleep. No make up of course, but make sure that there’s not any lingering SPF sunscreen from the daytime, either. You can use a wash cloth, sponge, or even a fancy sonic cleaner to wash your face at night.
Even if the products that you are using say that they are non comedogenic (non pore clogging) they still aren’t good for your skin to keep on overnight when you are sleeping. Not only are they bad to keep on your skin while you are sleeping, they aren’t great for your pillow case, either!

My next tip is even though you need to make sure that you go to sleep with no SPF sunscreen on your face be sure to put it on in the morning! Everyone should be using a SPF sunscreen in the morning, even if you are only going to be out in the sunlight for an hour here and there. 30 SPF is the ideal number for most people for daily use, and check your make up, ladies – a lot of moisturizer, foundation, or powder have SPF built-in, there’s no need to double up unless you are planning on being out in the sun for a longer period of time.
Speaking of the sun, my next tip is to be sure that you wear a hat or visor if you’re going to be in the sun for a longer period of time. For example if you’re going to the beach or lake, be sure that you wear a hat as well as re-applying your SPF sunscreen every few hours. Sunlight is great for your health and getting the Vitamin D that it provides is important, but please make sure that you apply SPF daily to protect your skin and keep it looking healthy.
So as you can see, the most important part of having great skin is prevention. If you’re looking for some skin care or spa items be sure to check out DealDash at this link right here. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!
