Another thing you can do is go to the park with your family and friends and simply play. A half hour or so playing outside can be a great workout and the best part is you can enjoy getting fit with family and friends. You can make it a weekly get together during the summer and fall months. I might be a mom, but I still love to swing on the swings at the park!

Hiking, Swimming, Camping

Finally, you can simply make mother nature your gym. You can go for walks, go hiking or swimming or kayaking. Any sport really that will get you outside is great. And you don’t have to invest a great deal of money to get started with a lot of outdoor sports so there should be no excuse not to get started.

Mosquitos are harmless insects, but they can be annoying. They are constantly flying around, and they can bite you. Although a mosquito bite is harmless, it is still necessary to get rid of mosquitos.  There are some different ways to get rid of mosquitos so you won’t have to worry about them stinging you or flying around.  Here are some ways to get rid of mosquitos outdoors, from DealDash.

Get Rid of Trash

It is important to get rid of trash and things lying around your yard. Keeping a well-kept yard will help eliminate mosquitos.  Mosquitos feed off of water, so if you have items that are holding water, it is best to get rid of them. Water allows mosquitos to breed and when you take the water away, you will no longer have to worry about mosquitos. This even applies to small volumes of water such as in soda cans.

Tip the Water in the Containers

When you have more water, you will have more mosquitos. 1 to 2 inches of water in a bucket can easily help a mosquito breed, and you don’t want that to happen. You should tip the water in any bird baths or dog bowls on a regular basis.

Tie Down Tarps

Tarps can be another attraction for mosquitos. If you use a tarp to cover your grill or any other item outdoors, it should be tied down tightly. When a tarp is not tied down tightly, then pools of rainwater can come in which will attract mosquitos. If a tarp cannot be pulled down tightly, then you should remove the tarp to drain the water.

Summertime is a great time for kids to be able to cut loose away from school. Unfortunately, it can also set back their learning by a month or more. You don’t want to make going back to school more difficult for your child. Here are some simple way to stop learning loss, from DealDash.

Reading is Fun

You need to make reading a top priority. Use any opportunity that you can to get your kids reading. You will find that if you are able to do this you will see your kids will have a much simpler time transitioning back into school when summer is over. My daughter likes to read to other people – me, her baby brother, and even the cats. It’s much more fun to read to someone than read alone.

Homework All Summer (Sorry, Kids)

Coming up with some fun homework for your kids is also something that you should be thinking about doing. You should do some fun science projects, or book reports, or anything that will be fun and a learning experience for your kids. Depending on where you live your child’s teacher might have sent home some work to do over the summer. You can also find some fun and educational activities on your library’s website.

Make it a Learning Experience

Take every chance that you can get to turn something into a learning experience. For example, you can go to the zoo and have your kids do a report on their favorite animal. You could also come up with some fun art projects or take an opportunity to see a history museum. Depending on your library, many offer free passes to kid’s educational places such as the Children’s Museum.

Just Ask!

Simply ask your kids what they would like to do to keep learning alive during the summertime. You will find that they will likely have some pretty cool ideas that will help to keep learning fun for them so that you will not have to worry about them getting behind. Asking your kids for ideas is a great way to keep them involved in their learning. My daughter likes to play games with flashcards and write little stories in a notebook. Your kids probably have a few good ideas as well. Just ask!

We are deep into summer, but there are new summer camps starting every week. It’s not too late! Here are some reasons why your child might enjoy a week of camp before school starts.

With so much to do over the summer, why should your child consider summer camp? There are actually many great reasons for your child to consider this opportunity including the following reasons, from DealDash.

Learn New Skills

Your child will learn many new skills. You can send them to a theater camp or cooking camp or sport camp – the possibilities are really endless here. Personally, when I was a kid, I went to computer camp. No matter which camp you choose, it will put them into a position to learn something new while having some fun along the way. Many of these specialized camps are only one or two weeks long, so you still have time to at least get a week in of camp before school starts.

Make New Friends

Your child will also have the chance to make new friends. You will give them the chance for meeting kids around their age that have similar interests. I actually know a married couple in their 30’s who met at summer camp as children! What are the odds?

Your child won’t be bored at home while you are at work or having them fight with their siblings. You will be able to rest easy knowing that your child is safe and enjoying their time at camp.

Leave it to the Staff

You will also find that the staff at summer camp are extremely good role models. They would definitely be people that you would feel great about your kids looking up to them. So if you are looking to make sure that you kids are supervised by some wonderful people you should have your child consider going to summer camp. If your kids go to the same camp next year there is a good chance that at least a few of the same staff will be working.

Some suggestions are fresh fruits and vegetables such as oranges, spinach, and salads.
