DealDash Holiday Travel Tips

DealDash

We’ve talked about preparing your house for holiday guests. Now we will discuss some holiday travel tips when you are the guest. Read on for some helpful hints from DealDash.

The holidays are the busiest travel time of the year. Many people have long breaks from work and school.  Christmas is around the corner, and you may be trying to plan for your holiday travels. There is a lot of chaos and confusion when it comes to being in the holiday travel rush. Thankfully, there are some ways that you can prepare for holiday travel. DealDash is here to help!

Plan Ahead and do Your Research

You should not waste time when it comes to traveling. It is important to plan ahead and do your research. Shop around and compare different costs for flights. Make sure you sign up for airlines newsletters for travel deals that you can receive. Be flexible with your schedule. If you can travel early you should. Planning ahead will make traveling less stressful.

Packing With Help from DealDash

Packing can take a lot of your time, but you can make it simple. It is best to travel with a carry-on bag. This is not the right time of year to try to get through the security with an oversized luggage. The passengers are already in a hurry to get to their destination and holding up the line will put them in a bad mood. It is important to also make your luggage lighter by wearing the heavy clothing instead of packing coats, and sweaters.

If you need a nice new carry-on bag you can easily get one from DealDash. DealDash has some of the nicest and highest-quality luggage around. You can simply click this link right here and check out the luggage that DealDash offers up for auction. In addition to the luggage, DealDash also offers gift cards to stores that carry luggage and bags. You can win or BIN (Buy It Now) a gift card to Kohl’s, Target, or Wal-Mart and choose from their selection of luggage as well. Just click here to see all of the amazing gift card options.

Traveling with Presents

If you can avoid packing the gifts it is a good idea to ship them. Gifts can take up space and make security checks become longer. It is important to ship them a few weeks ahead, so they will be there by the time you arrive. If you have to pack the Christmas presents, make sure you pack them well with bubble wrap to prevent damage. It is also important to save the wrapping for when you arrive. Otherwise, your gift wrapping job will likely be damaged while in transit.

DealDash Family Vacation and Travel Tips

DealDash

Traveling with kids can be stressful. DealDash has some tips to keep you sane on your family vacation this summer.

Traveling with the kids can seem like a very stressful thing to do. However, it does not need to be that way. There are many things that you can take out the stress of traveling with kids including some of the following tips from DealDash.

Direct is Best

You want a direct route wherever you happen to be traveling if at all possible.  This way you are traveling for the shortest amount of time possible. You can save yourself from having kids that are getting fussy because they’re sitting in a seat for too long.  So when you’re planning to travel on a vacation or anywhere for that matter take the most direct route. This includes car trips and plane trips as well.

Be Prepared

You definitely want to be prepared when traveling with the kids. Make sure that you’re doing things like taking a first aid kit and making sure you have any medications that your kids take.  This way you’ll be well prepared for any emergency that could happen while traveling with your children. If you are flying be sure to bring any medications in their original bottles, not in “pill keepers” that don’t have the prescription name and doctor’s name on them.

Bring Games and Snacks

You also want to take into account how you’ll be traveling to your destination and supply your children with appropriate toys and games or other things to keep them occupied.  That way it can keep your kids from getting fussy while you’re in a plane, train or whenever mode of transportation you plan to be taking. You also want to pack treats especially if you’re traveling with small children as they can get hungry on the way to your destination.

Try to Be Flexible

Another thing that will take a lot of stress out of your trip is being flexible with your schedule.  You want to be able to adapt quickly while you’re traveling with small children as things can arise that could put a crimp in your schedule.

When we travel with my family of 5, we always try to plan one “big” thing per day like the zoo, aquarium, or theme park. Then the rest of the day can be spent casually seeing the sights, walking around, browsing in stores, etc. This can prevent “fun fatigue” that can happen when you try to cram too many fun activities into one day. In my experience, kids tend to do better when there is flexibility in the schedule to have some down time.

Thanks for Reading

These are just a few of the things that you keep in mind when you want to travel with your children.  By being careful and doing a lot of planning and have a great trip with your kids.

DealDash Budgets Money for a Fun Trip

DealDash

It’s not too late to save up money to go on a late-summer trip. Here are some tips from DealDash to save up for a trip.

Traveling is a great way to relax, and take a break from the responsibilities of life. However, traveling can cost a lot of money. That is why it is best to create a budget and save your money ahead of time. You have to take in consideration your traveling arrangements and leisure activities. Here are 3 tips to budget your money for a trip, from DealDash.

Choose Your Method of Transportation

Traveling to the location you want to go to may be expensive. That is why it is important to have a budget for your traveling preference. It is faster to take an airplane, but it can also be expensive. It will be more budget friendly to take a train, car, or bus If you are not going a long distance. You can use websites such as Google flights and Expedia to compare prices. However, you should also factor in your time as well – saving $10 but spending an extra few hours might not really be worth it.

Figure Out Where You are Going to Stay

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a hotel. The cost may vary when you are trying to find a place to stay. It is best to be able to determine your needs and figure out what is available. In order to budget your money better, you should pick a hotel that is close to the attractions you are going to see. This will cut down on local travel costs. If you can plan your trip to include staying at an out of town family member’s house to save money, all the better!

Food

Food is really important when you are traveling. You can explore new cuisines, or you can save money by getting a hotel room with a microwave and kitchen. This way you can go to the grocery store and make easy to make meals. If you have kids you would be much better off to bring snacks with you from home or go to the grocery store when you arrive at your destination. Buying packs of cheese and crackers, goldfish crackers, granola bars, and fruit is significantly cheaper than buying fast food every time your kids want a snack.

Thanks for Reading

Going on a trip can be very exciting. Following these tips will help you have a memorable time. Remember you do not have to spend a lot of money to have a good time.

Everyone loves the summertime. You have beautiful weather and nice warm days.  Most activities are done during the summer especially going on vacation. Most people don’t want to break the bank when it comes to choosing a vacation spot. You may think that all vacation spots are expensive, but that is not the case. Here are some affordable vacation spots for the summer, from DealDash.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pittsburgh is one of the most underrated vacation spots. It is perfect for a family vacation. You can discover tasty culinary treasures, explore the Andy Warhol Museum, and catch a Pirates baseball game. If you are an outdoor lover, you can go hiking on Mount Washington to watch the perfect sunset. This vacation will be exceptionally inexpensive if you are close enough to drive to eliminate the airfare and luggage fees.

Oakland, California

Oakland California gets sometimes overlooked because of other attractions in California. However, it is one of the most affordable vacation spots. It has great summer weather, beautiful neighborhoods, and family-friendly attractions. Hotels and flight costs are low compared to other destinations, so it is good to book a trip during the summertime. If you’re done with the typical California vacation of a kiddie theme park, then you should give Oakland, CA a try.

Barcelona, Spain

Finally, if you are looking for a foreign destination to go this summer, Barcelona should be your number one international vacation spot. Barcelona has great weather and short flights that are inexpensive. You can explore the culture, and enjoy the beaches. It may be crowded during the summer, but summer is the perfect time to take a trip to Barcelona. I also have it on good authority that the people in Barcelona are kind and friendly. Do yourself a favor and travel to Barcelona the next time you’re looking for a vacation outside of the states.

DealDash Must Read Road Trip Tips

DealDash

Yesterday we talked about preparing for a flight. Today we talk about going on a road trip! Read on for more information from DealDash.

Roads trips are a great way to see the world. There is nothing like riding across the country and discovering new places. Going on a road trip is an awesome way to spend time with your family or friends. It is important to be prepared when you are on a road trip. Here are some tips that will help you prepare for a road trip, from DealDash.

Figure Out an Estimated Route

When you’re going on a road trip, it is important to have a sense of where you are going. You should check the mileage, so you can be aware of how much time you can drive per day. You can buy a map or use MapQuest or Google Maps to track your route.  Do not become exhausted by traveling ten hours a day. Make sure you have an estimated route set in place, so you can enjoy your trip.

If you are on a leisurely road trip, take a look at your route and choose some fun places along the way that you want to stop. Some people might want to see the world’s largest ball of twine, and other people might like to stop by an outlet mall and do some shopping, or even an amusement park. It’s up to you and whoever you are riding with. Remember to be nice and take turns deciding where to stop.

Plan Some Meals

When you are on a road trip, you will undoubtedly become very hungry. It is important to have meals and snacks prepared. Since you cannot heat up your food, it is best to pack certain meals such as sandwiches, granola bars, and chips. It is imperative to find some restaurants along the way, so you can try new foods. You can use websites like Yelp to discover new places to eat on your trip. As with where you want to stop for activities, be sure to take turns with your traveling companions to choose where to eat.

Make Reservations

It is fun to just drive around and find a hotel randomly, but you won’t get the cheapest price if you are not prepared ahead of time. You should think about planning at least two nights ahead if you don’t want to be at one set location. Making reservations ahead of time will help make it easier to prepare for your road trip.

Don’t Forget Your Luggage

If you need luggage, laptop bags, or toiletry bags DealDash has you covered. You might not need as much luggage as if you’re going on a flight, but you will definitely need a few changes of clothes! DealDash stocks all of these items as well as purses, carry on bags, duffle bags, backpacks, and more. DealDash Prepares for a Trip

DealDash

Spring will be here before you know it. Here are some tips to prepare for a trip, from DealDash.

Going on a trip is a lot of fun. Many people like to go on adventures and discover new places. Also, some people have family members that they like to visit. Regardless of your reason for going on trips, you have to be prepared. When you go on a trip you can’t just run home and get something you forgot. There are some tips that can help you prepare for your trip, from DealDash.

Have Someone Watch Your House

When you are gone for longer than a long weekend it is important for someone to watch your house. You need someone that will take care of your mail, feed your plants, any other needs that you may have for your house. You can choose a family member or a friend that you trust to watch your house for you. When you know that your house is in good hands, you will be more relaxed on your trip. If you don’t have someone that is willing to do that for you, then you can outsource it and hire someone. Be sure that you check their reviews carefully. Make sure that you find out if they have insurance.

Schedule your Flight

The most important step is to make sure that you schedule your flight, and find out information about where you are going. You should know where you will be staying and what the weather is like so you can pack the appropriate clothing. If you are going by car it is important to have your car filled with gas and ready to go. If you plan on renting a car when you get to your destination be sure to reserve one online first, as well as any baby seats or booster seats that you might need.

Pack Your Suitcase

People are known to get carried away with packing (I’m one of them). You want to carry everything, but you should only pack the necessary items that you need. The key thing to remember is that less is more when it comes to packing. It is important to pack based on how many days you will be traveling. For example, if it is just for a weekend pack 3 shirts, 3 pants, and undergarments.  Make sure you also have your important things in your carry one such as a charger and a cell phone. If you are flying somewhere for a long weekend, do your best to fit everything into your carry-on luggage and save yourself some baggage fees.

DealDash Explores Myrtle Beach, SC

DealDash Myrtle Beach

Have you ever taken a trip to Myrtle Beach, SC? It’s not just for golfers anymore. Let’s explore with DealDash.

Growing up in Wilmington, NC was great, because so many nice vacation spots were just a short car ride away. One of these spots is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Just 1.5 short hours from where I grew up lies miles of beautiful beaches, a boardwalk with an amazing ferris wheel that has enclosed seats with AC(!), a Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum, multiple haunted houses, and so much more. Here are a few fun things to do in Myrtle Beach, from DealDash.

Beaches

Going to the beach is always a favorite activity when on a trip, and Myrtle Beach has many beautiful ones to explore. If you don’t mind paying a few dollars, skip the public beach access points and hit up the Myrtle Beach State Park on the southside of town. It costs $5 per adult and $3 per child (under 5 kids are free) to get in, but then you have wide stretches of beach to yourself with less competition for a spot to put your beach towel. For the entry fee you also get access to hiking trails, a fishing pier, picnic shelters, and a nature center.

Alligator Adventure

When I was growing up in the south I had a few of my own up close and personal adventures with wild crocodiles, but Alligator Adventure is safe and supervised. There are more animals there than just alligators such as monkeys, birds, snakes, and more. The entrance fee is a little steep at $17.99, but well worth it in my opinion.

The Carolina Opry

After you’ve done the beach and kid’s activities all day, maybe it’s time for something a little more grown up. See a variety of concerts from Broadway to gospel, rock, country, and more at the Carolina Opry. There are also special events such as comedy shows, dancing performances, and lots of other entertainment. The tickets start at $50, though, so choose your show wisely.

DealDash Likes Cheap Travel

DealDash Budget Travel

Now’s the time to think about booking Spring travel. Here are some handy tips from DealDash to travel on the cheap.

Travel can be fun, exciting, interesting, educational, and expensive. If you’re a fan of DealDash, then you must love to save money! Travel, especially within the US, definitely doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Here are some tips on how to save some cash when you want to travel.

Book Early

You can get a much better deal if you book early, and you also have the added benefit of being able to choose from a much bigger array of seating choices (for most airlines.) I have also read that Tuesdays are the best day to book flights for the lowest prices. Here’s an extra tip – before you book your flight clear your “cookies” on your computer. You might end up with a better price.

Travel Light

Now that most airlines are charging to check a bag, it makes sense to try to skip checking a bag. Most airlines let you bring a carry-on bag and a personal bag such as a purse, laptop bag, or backpack. If you’re traveling with a child, make the most of their space as well – if they have a seat on the plane then they are entitled to both of those items as well. DealDash has some awesome carry-on bags, backpacks, purses, laptop bags, and toiletry bags up for auction.

Check Out Travel Forums

If you take the time to check out some travel forums you can read where people have reviewed different hotels, so you can try to find a discounted hotel that is still clean and comfortable. If you browse around the travel forums you can also read where people have reviewed activities as well, so you can find fun things to do on a budget.

DealDash Travels: Washington, D.C.

Everyone should visit our nation’s capital at least once. Here are some things that you should make a point to see while you are there.

Washington, D.C. has been ranked as the #8 best place to visit on the U.S. News and Report website. If you haven’t ever made it to Washington, D.C. you should make it a point to visit on your next vacation.

Washington, D.C. is famous for many things – The White House, Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Monument are things that every American should see at least once. There are also many fun things to make a family vacation enjoyable for the kids as well, such as the National Zoo and the Smithsonian Museum. Surprisingly, all of the Smithsonian attractions as well as the National Zoo have free admission!

Did you know that basketball player Kevin Durant, politician Al Gore, actor Samuel L. Jackson, and your favorite DealDash blogger (me!) were all born in Washington, D.C.?

If you plan on visiting Washington, D.C., you won’t even need to rent a car! The Metro (Washington metropolitan Area Transit Authority), as it’s locally known, is a great way to get around. You are able to fly into Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Virginia and take the Metro into the city to check into your hotel. The cost for the Metro is minimal and ranges from $1.75 to $5.90 per trip, depending on your destination and if you are travelling during “peak” or “off-peak” times, which is an awesome deal compared to a taxi or an Uber.

The best times to visit Washington, D.C. are the spring and the fall to get nice weather as well as slightly better pricing for your hotel than if you were to travel in the summer. And as a bonus, if you travel late in late March or early April you will be able to catch the National Cherry Blossom Festival. This upcoming year, 2017, the National Cherry Blossom Festival will take place from March 20th to April 16th. The cherry blossom trees are currently growing in three National Park Service locations: the Tidal Basin in West Potomac Park, in East Potomac Park (Hains Point), and also on the Washington Monument grounds.

If you’re planning on travelling you might want to get some new luggage. DealDash has a number of beautiful luggage sets up for auction. If you’re looking for luggage, check DealDash first! Just click this link right here and come browse the auctions on DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Travels: San Diego

Now is a great time to start planning your next vacation. According to the U.S. News, San Diego, California is number 9 on the list of the best places in the USA to visit.

There are a few things to do when deciding to plan your next vacation, and picking a destination is the first step! San Diego is a wonderful city that has a rich history as well as a current appeal. Let’s take a look at what makes San Diego such a great place to visit on your next vacation.

Image result for san diego weather

The first thing that people tend to mention when speaking on San Diego is the weather. Sunny and warm is par for the course in San Diego. As you can see in the chart above, San Diego temperatures rarely dip below 60 or rise above 75. In my mind, that is just about as perfect as you can get. I visited San Diego a few years ago in February, and the weather was sunny and in the mid-60s for the entire week. It was a little slice of perfection compared to the New England weather that I have become accustomed to.

Besides the weather, people love to vacation in San Diego for the cuisine. San Diego has everything, from food trucks to fine dining and everything in-between. Since San Diego is in such close proximity to Mexico there are countless amazing Mexican restaurants that you can try. If Mexican cuisine isn’t your thing, just look to the East – the Pacific Ocean is right there, with all of it’s fishy bounty. If you’re into beer, San Diego boasts over 70 breweries! You could fill your vacation with brewery tours, if you so chose.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention any fun kid’s activities! San Diego has two of my favorite attractions – Sea World and the San Diego Zoo! Those are two “must see” items on my list if you have kids, and on my “should see” list if you don’t have kids!

I hope that you found this article informative. If you’re planning a trip you should definitely check out the luggage on DealDash. DealDash has the latest styles of luggage in all sizes. Just click this link right here to go browse the auctions. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Gives Travel Tips

Image result for travel

Most people enjoy travelling. Here are some handy tips for the next time you are able to get away for a long weekend or even a full vacation.

There are so many destinations out there that are just waiting to be explored. Travel is one hobby that is enjoyed by almost everyone – no matter what the age, from kid to grandparent and everyone in-between, most people love to get away for a holiday. I enjoy travel very much, and I have picked up quite a few handy tips over the years that might be able to help someone else. Here are some of my handy travel tips.

  • Be sure to pack all of your cords – phone cord, laptop cord, iPad cord, etc. If you are going somewhere overseas you might want to invest in a voltage converter.
  • Make as many sets of outfits as you are going to be at your destination, plus an extra one. Roll each outfit set with the undergarments and socks on the inside, and then stack your outfit tubes in your luggage. It saves space as well as time. And because they are rolled instead of folded they will have less wrinkles when you unpack them.
  • Always remember to bring your toothbrush & toothpaste, your prescription medications, your deodorant, and your PJs.If you are travelling in the USA or Canada it is very likely that you will be able to go to a store and buy anything that you might have forgotten, but don’t count on it. Double-check your packing before you close up your suitcase.
  • If you are travelling outside of the USA or Canada, be sure to pack some personal tissue packs and/or travel baby wipes. Many places outside of North America don’t offer free toilet paper in public restrooms. When I was travelling in Beijing there were often people selling small packs of toilet paper outside of public restrooms near tourist attractions.
  • Call your bank and credit card company before you leave and put a travel alert on your accounts. Also, be sure to jot down their international customer service number in case you run into trouble while you are away.
  • Pack a hat and sunblock, even if you aren’t going to the beach or somewhere traditionally “outdoorsy.” Chances are you will be doing a lot of walking if you are a tourist, and will get a lot more sun than you normally do – so wear your SPF and hat, please!

I hope that you found some of these tips helpful for the next time you travel. If you’re looking for luggage or any other travel supplies be sure to check out DealDash. DealDash has everything you need to make your trip great – from digital cameras to luggage. Just click this link to visit DealDash and see how much you can save. DealDash Budgets for a Trip

We are getting towards the end of summer, the next opportunity to take a fun trip might be during spring break. Let’s try to budget for a trip.

I love taking trips – from a short weekend somewhere local to a multi-week journey, count me in! However, since I have small children, things just aren’t quite as simple anymore, and we will need to budget the amount of money we plan on spending. If we don’t take the time to set up a budget beforehand and save up some extra money we might find ourselves putting things on credit cards and creating debt, which is definitely not a positive! Let’s look at how to set up a travel budget by planning the forecasted expenses for transportation, hotel, food, entertainment, and souvenirs.

The first step to saving and budgeting for a trip is of course…saving money! Open a savings account specifically for your travel plans. You can easy open up a savings account with an online bank with $100 or less. Try having a yard sale and selling off some of your extra things to get a head start on your vacation fund. You could also take on some extra jobs from home such as mowing lawns or watching children to earn a little extra cash. There is frequently a need for babysitters for elementary school children from around 3PM-6PM, when the kids get off the school bus until the parents get home from work. If you have kids the same age it might be an easy way to pick up a few extra dollars a day to put into your vacation fund. Also try to cut spending where you can, such as limiting dinners out leading up to your trip.

Frequently the most expensive part of a vacation can be the travel costs – a taxi to the airport, airfare, a taxi to the hotel, etc. For your vacation budget, include forecasted airfare, taxis, shuttle services, and any other expense related to transportation while you are away. The hardest part of this is to figure out what your airfare might cost months down the road, but try going online to research the rates for the times and destinations you are planning to travel. You can also try to see what the airfare rates were the previous year, it might help you determine what the costs will be the following year.

Budgeting for hotel expenses is similar to airfare – it’s hard to determine so far in advance. Check the hotel rates were the previous year, it might help you determine what the costs will be the following year. If your budget comes up a bit short try to think of some extra ways to get more for your money such as using online coupons, joining a hotel loyalty program that earns you free nights, or even staying at a hostel.

Finally, another huge expense for any trip is for restaurants, food, and drinks. If you are able to get a hotel that includes free breakfast you can fill up in the morning, and be able to eat a much lighter lunch. Then you only have to worry about a bigger expense for dinner. Also, try to limit your alcoholic beverages to just 1 or 2 with dinner. Some hotels even offer a free “cocktail hour” where you can get free wine, beer, and snacks.

DealDash Helps: Pack for Vacation

A lot of people have trouble figuring out what to pack for a vacation. Some people bring too much, others not enough. DealDash is here to help.

Let’s assume that you are going on a 1 week vacation to somewhere warm with a beach, since that seems like the most common vacation that people seem to take. The goal is to get everything to fit into one suitcase and one carry on. Here’s what you’re going to need:

Toiletries:

  • Toothbrush/paste/floss
  • Hair brush
  • Razor/shave cream
  • Lotion
  • Shampoo/conditioner
  • Sunblock
  • Hair mousse/spray (if needed)
  • Medication (if needed)
  • Contacts/solution (if needed)
  • Make up (if needed)

When you are packing your toiletries for your 1 week vacation you can skip buying those “airline approved” 2 ounce bottles. Just pack what you actually need. You don’t really need a whole bottle of lotion for a quick trip. Try packing your toiletries in smaller containers such as in contact lens containers.

Clothing

  • 1 shirt per day
  • 1 pair of pants, shorts or skirts for every two days
  • 1 pair of underwear/bras per day
  • 1 pair of socks per day
  • 3 undershirts/tank tops that can double as PJs/loungewear
  • 3 pairs of lightweight shorts that can double as PJs/loungewear
  • 1 dress (if needed)
  • 1 bathing suit (if needed, you should rinse and hang it up in the shower daily)
  • 1 pair of sneakers
  • 1 pair of sandals

You will want to choose neutral colors or jeans for your bottoms so you can mix and match them with all of your tops. I would suggest mixing up the tops, such as one dressy shirt, a couple of sleeveless shirts, a couple of short sleeve shirts, and perhaps one long sleeve shirt if your destination has the possibility of being cold or windy if it happens to rain on one of your vacation days. Shoe-wise, be sure to wear the sneakers on the plane instead of the sandals. They are heavier which will keep your luggage weight down, and they are also safer in an emergency.

My other suggestion to you may seem slightly wasteful, so please only use it if you feel comfortable. I love the concept of “disposable clothing.” When I was packing for my 3 week trip to China a few years ago I had the idea of bringing my oldest underwear, bras, socks, PJs, and t-shirts so I could just throw them away at the end of my vacation so I would have room to bring back more souvenirs from my trip. I didn’t end up actually throwing them away as I had planned, though, I simply left them folded on top of the dresser in my hotel room. I figured that the hotel staff might either donate them or cut them up to use for cleaning. Either way, I was able to clean out my closet and make room in my suitcase, win-win!

Miscellaneous

  • Phone/ipad/ipod charger
  • Snacks
  • Baby wipes (so useful even if you don’t have kids!)
  • Hat

DealDash Travels: Bermuda

Have you ever travelled to Bermuda? Bermuda is one of the easiest island paradise destinations to visit from the East coast. Let’s explore…

Bermuda is just a quick 2 hour plane ride from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and many other East Coast cities. Bermuda is also one of the few beach destinations that have cruises leaving from Boston and New York, instead of having to fly all the way down to Florida to take your cruise. Aside from the quick flight time, when you arrive in Bermuda it’s like a whole new world, especially if you are travelling in the winter.
If you’re still feeling chilly now in the springtime, you might be interested to know that the air and water temperatures in Bermuda in May are both around 75 degrees. Bermudians consider May the start of their summer season and can be seen enjoying the beaches already.
Another fun fact about Bermuda is that if you are a tourist you cannot rent a car! That might sound strange, but once you have been to Bermuda and experienced its tiny roads and blind hairpin curves you will most likely understand why. Luckily for tourists, though, Bermuda has an excellent bus system. There are only 11 bus routes, and most of them all leave from the Central Terminal in their downtown area. If a completely map-illiterate person such as myself can get around without getting lost then I’m sure that you can, too.
If busses aren’t your thing, there’s no reason to worry. You can also rent a scooter, take a ferry, or even just get a taxi. If you’re staying at a resort in Bermuda then you will most likely be able to rent a golf cart from the resort. This is a very fun option, and depending on which resort that you are staying in you might even be able to get to the beach with your golf cart! However, this fun comes with a considerable expense. When I was in Bermuda last year our (4 person) golf cart was approximately $100 per day to rent.
Speaking of high costs, almost all of the food in Bermuda has to be either shipped or flown in, so it’s very expensive. For example, a gallon of milk is about $10! However, if you go to Bermuda you are probably only staying a week or so you probably don’t need to buy an entire gallon of milk, anyway!
Bermuda has absolutely beautiful beaches with pink sand. Yes, that’s right – pink! No, they don’t dye it that way for aesthetics, it’s because red tiny organisms grow under the coral reefs in Bermuda and die on the ocean floor. They are then swept forward by the waves and land on the beach sand, making it pink.
If you’re thinking of taking a trip to Bermuda you’re going to need some luggage. DealDash has some great luggage up for auction quite frequently, click this link here and you’ll be taken to DealDash to browse the luggage, toiletry travel bags, and more. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!
