DealDash – Your Lifestyle Affects Your Sleep Cycle

DealDash How does your lifestyle affect your sleep cycle? Let DealDash explain it to you in this article.

We live in a society where the pace of life is hectic from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. More and more people are having some difficulty sleeping. Work, family, bills, and the atmosphere of the city where everyone is in a hurry- all these factors end up influencing our hormonal system in one way or another. This is usually in the form of stress, and as we know, a high level of stress means high levels of cortisol. There are a few things that you can do to help. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Take Some Time to Relax

It is important to be able to find some time during the day for ourselves to try to relax. This can mean strolling in a park, going to a library, listening to music, taking a relaxing bath, or doing another activity that we like. This is in order to try to reduce stress levels, and thus at the end of the day have more options to achieve a cycle of sleep-wake. The sleep-wake cycle allows us to rest and recover.

Sleep Disorders: Insomnia & Hypersomnia

Insomnia

Insomnia can be common in specific situations of high stress. Some examples include exams, health problems, major life changes, etc. However, it can become chronic and is no longer directly related to the problem that caused it. In order for us to be able to talk about insomnia at the level of illness or disorder, it must be “common,” which is considered three or more nights a week.

Indicators of insomnia may include involuntary waking before six and a half hours of rest, multiple instances of waking up at night without being able to get back to sleep in more than half an hour, or taking more than half an hour to fall asleep at bedtime. Again, having these things happen to you occasionally is not typically a problem. It’s only when this becomes common that it’s an issue.

Hypersomnia

Hypersomnia means excessive sleep during the day, and there are different syndromes and manifestations of different origins. For example, narcolepsy-cataplexy syndrome is characterized by uncontrollable sleep attacks, episodes of paralysis during sleep, hallucinations during sleep and/or cataplexy (loss of muscle tone).

Another syndrome, sleep apnea, affects mainly (but not only) hypertensive and obese people. In apnea, breathing stops during more or less long periods of sleep, which can lead to cardiac, neurological and social problems. There are medical treatments for apnea, such as the application of a continuous-entry oxygen mask, also known as a C-Pap. This is a serious disorder, and if you suspect you suffer from sleep apnea you should schedule a visit with your doctor.

Have Anxiety? DealDash Has Information

DealDash

Anxiety affects many people. If you are one of them, read this article from DealDash.

For starters, what is generalized anxiety disorder? A generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by a pattern of frequent and constant worry and nervousness. This can be regarding real or imaginary events. When this feeling lasts for more than six months, then you know that it is time to get treatment. Hopefully, if you read this article you will make the decision to go see a doctor about your anxiety. They are there to help. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

What Causes Anxiety?

People who suffer from it often cannot describe what causes them to feel this sense of distress. Unfortunately, this can become an impediment to a normal life if the anxiety becomes the center of their lives.

Symptoms of This Disorder

The main symptom is the constant feeling of worry and nervousness even when there are no objective causes for it. Concerns can shift from one topic to another. These can include sentimental, economic, work, and family. Anxiety can always find a new motive. Even if you are aware of the main basis of your distress, it is difficult for people with anxiety to control it.

Other symptoms are more intense agitation, irritability, and more tension than usual or what would be reasonable in a given situation. People often have trouble concentrating and difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep.

Physical symptoms may include a headache, tremors, sweating, heart palpitations, muscle pain, weight loss, and digestive problems.

Causes of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

It is not known for sure what causes a person to suffer from anxiety, but it does seem to be a set of several causes. One of them can be genetic because often several generations of the same family have it. There is also evidence that certain chemical changes in the brain can lead to an anxiety disorder. Anxiety often occurs along with other mental disorders, such as panic attacks or depression that affect serotonin levels.

Treatment of Anxiety

Treatment of mental illness is never straightforward and often involves different branches. These branches include therapy and medication. These include antidepressants (tricyclic, SSRIs), buspirone and (short-term) benzodiazepines. These medications should never be taken without medical supervision. Also, they need to be prescribed by your doctor.

Stress reduction methods are also often recommended. These methods can include exercise and relaxation techniques. Also, you can try dietary modifications. Reducing caffeine, stimulants, and alcohol can be especially helpful in reducing anxiety.

Other stress reduction methods can include long walks, hot baths, and spa treatments. Whatever makes you feel happy and relaxed should be at the top of your to-do list when your anxiety is bothering you.

DealDash Pets: 3 Surprising Benefits of Pets

DealDash

Pets are great. Here are 3 benefits of having a pet you might not have thought of, from DealDash.

It is a wonderful experience to have a pet, especially when you own a dog. Many people know that owning a dog is a lot of responsibility, but it also has many benefits.  A lot of people don’t know just how important it is to have a pet. Maybe you are thinking about getting a pet, but you don’t know if that is the right decision.  Here are some surprising benefits of having a man’s (or woman’s!) best friend, from DealDash.

You Will Stay Fit

Owning a dog will help you stay fit. You will burn plenty of calories playing with your dog, and walking them.  On those certain days when you want to skip your workout, you will still have to get a little bit. You will need to walk your dog because most likely they will be standing at the door with a leash in their mouth.

Losing weight and staying fit can be easier just by taking care of your dog. You can walk your cat as well if you have a harness. However, cats are not quite as eager to get out and take a walk as a dog would be.

Your Life Will Be Much Easier

Life can sometimes be rough but owning a dog can make it much easier. Studies have shown that dogs can lower your stress level. Simply petting your dog and playing with them can reduce your stress level. Caring for your dog is also a good distraction from worrying about your problems.

Many other pets can also fill this need. Cuddly pets like cats and dogs are the perfect solution. However, even having a hamster, bird, or fish can help lower stress levels, as well.

You Will Know If You Are Sick

Studies have shown that dogs are known to detect cancer.  Many people that own dogs have noticed that their dog sniffs nudges or touch the spots where the cancer is located.  One of the most surprising benefits of owning a dog is that they can alert you to changes in your body.  Make sure you pay attention to your dog so that you will recognize the signs.

Thanks for Reading

I hope I have convinced you that owning a dog or other pet can be a rewarding experience.  These surprising benefits will help you make the right decision about owning a pet or not. Remember to take good care of your pet, and he will take good care of you.

Also, since the heart is also a muscle, magnesium assists in its functioning. Magnesium helps the heart in its proper contractions.

Also, magnesium is involved in many metabolic processes of energy production. Magnesium is involved in the formation of proteins and also in the absorption of glucose and its degradation.

What if I Don’t Get Enough magnesium?

Given the variety of functions that magnesium has in key processes of our body, getting enough magnesium is very important. If your body’s level of magnesium falls below normal levels, it causes consequences It can cause different unpleasant disorders in our body.

First, vital processes such as those that regulate the balance of electrolytes are affected. This can lead to a decrease in calcium in the body and also affect potassium levels. All this leads to a loss of calcium from the bones that can eventually lead to osteoporosis and also alters muscle contractibility.

Lack of magnesium can also lead to nervous and muscular system failure. This is a problem leading to irritability, tremors, cramps, vertigo or dizziness, as well as failures in cardiovascular function. In short, be sure that you are getting enough magnesium in your diet.

DealDash Health: Is it a Cold or the Flu?

DealDash

It can be very difficult to tell if it’s a cold or flu when you are sick. Here are some tips on figuring out what it is, from DealDash.

Flu and colds are not the same, although sometimes your symptoms can get confused. Both are diseases caused by a virus, easily contagious and with symptoms that mainly pertain to the respiratory system. However, differentiating them is important because while a cold is usually not severe, the flu can lead to serious complications depending on the person who has it, and therefore must be aware of its evolution. Read on for more information, from DealDash

How do colds and flu differ?

For starters, flu and colds are distinguished by the speed at which their symptoms appear. While a cold usually comes on suddenly, and we go from perfect to ill in just a few hours, colds are more progressive. It can take a couple of days to develop all the symptoms. Colds are more likely to get into our nose and throat. Sneezing, nasal congestion and sore throat are very common.

The flu usually makes us feel worse in general. It is common to have a fever for several days (something rare in a cold), joint and muscle pain, headaches, chills, and general weakness.

What Do They Look Like?

Colds and flu have one very important thing in common: as we have already said, both are caused by a virus. This means that neither of them are treated with antibiotics. The only cure for both is to let a few days go by, finish the viral process, and cope with the symptoms with pain relievers, analgesic medications, and decongestant medications.

It is important to emphasize that there are no antibiotics that cure a cold or flu. The misuse of antibiotics results in the resistance of different bacteria to these drugs, which becomes a serious problem when we suffer from a real bacterial infection. It’s important to save these antibiotic medications for when they will actually be effective.

The development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria is a serious global public health problem. Scientists around the world are working to develop new antibiotics that are more effective. This requires time, talent, and funding. Until then, it is important that we make proper use of what we have.

DealDash Health: Acid Reflux Disease

DealDash

What is acid reflux, DealDash? If you’re interested in learning more, you’ve come to the right place.

Acid reflux, as its name suggests, is the return of normal flow from the mouth to the stomach or upper digestive tract. Because the stomach contents are acid, it is called acid reflux. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

What Are the Signs of Acid Reflux?

The medical name is gastroesophageal reflux since it is the passage from the stomach contents to the esophagus. This is where acidic liquids should not be present, and therefore, this condition generates many discomforts. Some of these are a burning sensation, pain, and even more serious consequences if the reflux persists over time and is not controlled.

Why is it Produced?

The esophagus is the portion of our digestive system that connects the pharynx (a short passage after the mouth) to the stomach. This tube has a sphincter or muscle that opens and closes before the passage of food both in its beginning and end in contact with the stomach.

When the latter muscle or sphincter does not close well, either because the muscle is not properly developed. This is especially true in infants and children). Also, when it is herniated, the stomach content does not remain there but easily returns to the esophagus. It carries with it very acidic gastric juices that irritate the upper part of the digestive tract and can cause severe consequences in addition to a very annoying and painful feeling.

Possible Solutions to Acid Reflux

  • Avoid clothing that tightens the waist or compresses the stomach. Loose clothing will help the food pass easily to the stomach.

  • Do not lie flat or lie flat just after drinking or eating. The force of gravity will prevent the stomach from retaining what has just arrived.

  • Avoid very spicy or acidic foods or preparations. They aggravate the burning, heartburn, and pain caused by reflux.

  • Eat alkaline ph foods, such as fruits and vegetables. Also, foods that promote digestion, cereals, and derivatives and very well cooked legumes.

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, because they irritate the esophagus and can cause greater discomfort.

  • Prioritize dishes that are easy to digest. Some suggestions are foods that are not very fatty or seasoned. These facilitate the food’s passage from the stomach to the intestine and therefore reduce the chances of the content returning to the esophagus.

  • Avoid carbonated or carbonated drinks or carbonated drinks that distends the stomach with air and this favors the return of the contents to the esophagus by increasing its volume.

DealDash Health: Reduce Your Sugar & Honey Intake

DealDash

No matter what your weight or age it’s important to reduce your sugar intake. Here are some tips to do that, from DealDash.

When we talk about an excess of sugar in our diet, we are not just talking about table sugar. We are also talking about added sugars or free sugars, which can harm us in different ways if we go overboard with their intake. So, it’s important to know that honey is also a sugar and so you should try to avoid it in your diet as much as you can.

Although honey has more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants than table sugar, it is also a sugar free from our diet. Honey is a miraculous food, but it should be used sparingly in your diet.

Free Sugar Vs. Intrinsic Sugar

The sugar from fruit and vegetables is not the same as the sugar from a soft drink or candy because the latter contains free sugars in its composition. However,  according to with The World Health Organization (WHO) honey is in the same category as concentrated juice, syrups, and sugar table because of the chemical composition.

In other words, honey is also a free sugar that we should ideally limit to less than 5% of your daily calories. This is recommended by the WHO in order to keep your body healthy and strong.

Therefore, if you want to reduce the added sugars in your diet, using honey instead of table sugar is not a good option. However, there are options for you. Read below for more information.

Sweeten Foods with Intrinsic Sugars

It is best to use it to sweeten foods with intrinsic sugars. Intrinsic sugars are naturally occurring sugars, or sugars contained within unprocessed foods. Some popular examples include fruits and vegetables with a sweet taste such as bananas, pumpkin, beets, grapes, apples, carrots, and dates. You can also use artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or natural calorie sweeteners such as Stevia.

Watch Out for Hidden Sugars

You know, sugar hides in different recipes and products under different names. Honey just happens to be one of them. Therefore, try not to use honey as a substitute for table sugar if you are looking to cut back on sugar. If you are a diabetic or are on a strict diet it is a very good idea to read the food label and examine the ingredients for hidden sugars.

DealDash Health: Myths About Your Eyesight

DealDash

Taking good care of your eyes is important. Here are some tips, tricks, and myths about your eyesight, from DealDash.

You may have heard your mother or grandmother say that you can damage your eyes if you watch TV too close or if you read with low light. But it is true? Let’s found out. Here is some information about your eyes, from DealDash. Please note, though, if you have any questions, problems, or concerns with your vision, please contact your eye doctor for an appointment.

Myth #1

The television can cause eye problems if you watch it too close or in a dark room.

This is not true because there is no knowledge of any type of radiation produced by the television that can cause eye damage, neither at close or at long distance. However, if you watch the TV too closely or in low light you could cause eye strain, which is a temporary condition that will resolve itself after you’ve rested your eyes.

Myth #2

The computer and iPad can damage your eyes.

The radiation emitted by the computer screens don’t differ at all with the ones emitted by a normal TV. With that being said, it causes no harm, however, you should remember to rest your eyes every 30 minutes. This will help to prevent the eye strain that I mentioned above.

Myth #3

Read with low light or too close can damage your vision.

The intensity of the light used can make things appear more or less illuminated. Similar to when you take a photograph in low light doesn’t harm the camera, the eye doesn’t get any damage by reading with low light. Reading with a brighter light can help your eyes avoid eye strain, though.

When you read too close to your face, it requires your eyes to work harder to keep things in focus. It doesn’t cause any damage but can make your eyes feel tired.

Myth #4

You need to eat carrots for a good vision.

Carrots have a lot of vitamin A, but if you eat a normal diet you will get enough. If a person has myopia (He doesn’t see well up close), they could eat a ton of carrots and still he will have myopia. With that being said, though, carrots are both healthy and delicious. They make an excellent snack, but don’t count on throwing away your glasses after going on a carrot binge.

Follow These DealDash Tips for Healthy Sleep

DealDash

Are you getting the most out of your sleep? Learn how to sleep more efficiently, from DealDash.

Are you really getting the most out of your 8 hours of sleep each night? It might sound a little intimidating at first, sleeping better is not that difficult for most people. It’s simply a series of small steps that you can take to improve your day-to-day life. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Make it a Routine

Routines are what most brains love, so start one of your own to help you wind down. Moisturize, have a light snack, or read; the important thing is that you should always be going to be at the same time and waking up at the same time.

Yes, unfortunately even on the weekend. Though it can be very tempting to “catch up” on sleep at the weekend, it’s actually doing more harm than good. waking at 7 AM on weekdays then waking at 10 AM on weekends isn’t doing you any favors. It’s fine to have an hour’s discrepancy, but ideally, your alarm should be the same for all days. Falling asleep at the same time every day will not only help you get up and going, but it’ll help you fall asleep quicker.

If You Really Aren’t Tired…

Similarly, if you don’t think you will sleep within half an hour of lights off (that is to say, you’re simply not tired) then don’t bother getting into bed. Being mentally active in your bed does your brain no favors to understand that it’s time to sleep. However, reading for a while is encouraged. Please use a real book or magazine, not an e-book. The light from your device can help keep you awake. Definitely, avoid Netflix marathons and falling asleep to your phone. Speaking of that, no screens half an hour before trying to sleep. It would be even better to put them in another room so you’re not tempted by notifications.

The Little Things Add Up

There are also things you can do during the day to help you sleep. Don’t eat a huge meal late at night; if you’re hungry have a light snack such as cereal or fruit. In fact, following a good diet as a whole and exercising every day helps. When I say exercise, it doesn’t have to be anything too strenuous. It can be as little as walking briskly around the neighborhood after dinner.

DealDash Drinks Green Tea

DealDash green tea

Many people enjoy black tea or iced tea, but did you know that green tea is much healthier? It’s true! Read on to find out more…

Not only is green tea a delightful, light-flavored beverage, it’s also chock full of health benefits. Surprisingly enough, it is even considered an important nutritional means for warding off cancer. Isn’t that amazing?

How Do I Make Green Tea?

There are three main ways that you can make green tea. They are tea bag, tea ball, or loose tea. Each of these methods is pretty simple, and no matter which way you choose you will end up with healthy, nutritious, and delicious green tea.

Tea Bag –

This one is easy! Simply put your tea bag into your cup and pour boiling water over it. Steep the tea for approximately 5 minutes before drinking.

Tea Ball –

Also very simple, the tea ball is very much like the tea bag. Just fill up your tea ball with 1 scoop of green tea, pour boiling water into your cup, and add the tea ball. Steep the tea for approximately 5 minutes before drinking.

Loose Tea –

The loose tea method is personally my least favorite, but some people love it! Firstly, you will need a teapot that’s easy to clean. Fill the teapot with approximately the amount of water you will need to fill your teacup or cups if you are making multiple cups. Boil your water, but turn it off as soon as it begins to bubble. Put 1 scoop of green tea into the teapot for each cup of green tea that you would like to make. Let it steep for a few minutes, and then pour through a strainer into your cup.

If you don’t mind the occasional stray tea leaf in your cup, then you don’t need to use the strainer. Personally, I dislike getting any tea leaves into my cup, so I always use a strainer.

What Else Can Be Done With Green Tea?

Traditionally, green tea is consumed hot and plain, with no additions. However, if you are drinking green tea for the health benefits and would prefer a little bit of flavor, try adding something from my list below.

  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Sugar
  • Honey
  • Mint

DealDash Health: Be Careful with your Coffee

DealDash coffee

Coffee is the morning beverage of choice for many people. Here are some interesting things you should know, from DealDash.

After your alarm wakes you up in the morning, you will most likely head to the kitchen to prepare your morning coffee. If you belong to the category of people that can not start their daily activities without a cup of coffee, then you should know what you do not have to put anything in your coffee for you to enjoy the real benefits of it.

What Should You Avoid When Drinking?

The dark elixir, as some call it, it helps us to function during the day. Unfortunately, does not have only positive effects. Whether we want to admit it or not, caffeine is a drug, and you need to be careful when you mix coffee with other things. Here are some things you should not add to your coffee if you want it to act as a medicine to your body and not as a drug.

Analgesics – It Can Affect Your Liver

Thankfully, your liver is a very resilient organ, 75% of its tissue can be affected or removed with surgery without liver failure. Even so, it can be affected by too much coffee, especially when it is combined with acetaminophen (Tylenol). This was discovered after scientists from the University of Washington made a study that targeted the effects of the coffee in combination with other substances.

Make it Black (for Your Health)

The consumption of excessive amounts of coffee flavorings such as cream, sugar, and flavor shots. Try not to combine flavorings, the worst thing that you can do for your health is to add not only cream and sugar, but any of the pre-sweetened flavorings that are now offered at various coffee shops. Coffee should be black, nothing more, if you want to keep it healthiest. When you add more flavors, you make your coffee more of a risk to your health. This is because they contain high doses of sugar and artificial flavors and coloring. If you do not like your coffee to be natural and you want to change the taste, try some drops of vanilla or mint or make it sweeter with a more natural sweetener like honey or Stevia.

Grind it Fresh

Remember that if you use coffee beans, you should keep them in the fridge. This is especially important if the package has been opened. The flavor will last for a longer time if you keep things sealed and in the fridge. The fresher the coffee tastes, the less likely you will be to add extra sweeteners and flavors.

DealDash Health: Vitamins

Taking vitamins can be a great way to boost your health and well-being. Even if you eat your fruits and veggies you still might be missing some vital nutrients in your diet.

You need vitamins and minerals in any diet, and research from many various sources suggest that they may help prevent cancer and heart disease, and other less dire health problems such as anemia. You might think that you are getting all of the vitamins that you need from your food if you are eating a healthy diet, but you might not be getting enough.

Here are some of the vitamins and minerals that you should be getting daily. Check your diet, and be sure to take a vitamin supplement if you feel you aren’t getting enough from your food.

Beta-Carotene – Beta-carotene is found in sweet potatoes, carrots, and red, yellow, and green peppers, in addition to other foods. This antioxidant is converted in the body to vitamin A and is important for healthy vision, a functioning immune system, and good skin. Be sure that you are adding in some healthy peppers into your diet such as on your pizza, in your stir fry, or even on your salad.

Calcium – Calcium is mostly found in dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese, but it can also be found in kale, and even sardines! Calcium helps to maintain healthy bones and prevent osteoporosis.

Folic Acid – Folic acid is important for adults, but especially important to women who are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant. Folic acid prevents neural tube defects such as spina bifida in babies, is found in fortified breakfast cereal, dark green vegetables, beans, citruses, bread, and pasta. That’s right, bring on the pasta, it’s got folic acid!

Iron – Iron is important to having healthy blood and preventing anemia. Liver and organ meats are high in iron, but you can also get iron from lean meats, seafood, nuts, and green, leafy vegetables.

There are many more important vitamins and minerals needed in a healthy diet. If you can’t maintain your vitamin intake by food alone then it’s time to look into a multi-vitamin. There are all different types of multivitamin that are meant for different stages of life such as children’s, adult’s, prenatal, senior, and more. All of these types of vitamins are sold at CVS. If you’re looking for a CVS gift card, DealDash is the place to go! DealDash frequently has CVS gift cards up for bid. Here is a link right here to go check out the auctions. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!
