DealDash Home: Reorganize a Small Bathroom

Having a small bathroom can be a tricky problem. However, with good organization, you can make it work for your family. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to help.

Small, cramped bathrooms with little space and lots of stuff can present big problems. This is especially true for a busy family. With items strewn across the bathroom countertop with no designated space make it difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for. This can be a disaster when morning routine time is at a minimum. You can conquer this problem with an honest assessment of your bathroom’s contents and some creativity. Read on for some helpful ideas from DealDash.

Get Rid of Excess

For starters, look around your tiny bathroom. If you have products in your bathroom that you didn’t like after the first use, or that someone who previously visited left there and your family doesn’t use, get rid of them. This can be a little distressing if you focus on the money that you spent on buying it. However, if it’s taking up valuable space in your cramped bathroom quarters, it’s costing you more in stress than it’s worth.

You’ll probably be amazed at how much space you can free up by clearing out these unused, unwanted items. I find that makeup and sample-sized products are the worst offenders in my bathroom. How about yours?

What’s Left?

Next, after you’ve cleared these items out, assess what’s left. If there’s a drawer for makeup, but nothing in it is sorted, consider some small boxes or baskets to place them in. DealDash can help if you need home organization items.

Place lipsticks and glosses in one bin, another for makeup compacts, and another for makeup applicators such as brushes and sponges. If you and your family don’t use these items you will have a much quicker time, as these items take a while to sort.

If there are a lot of hair products, consider using a larger basket to place them in. You can store this container under the sink which can be easily removed and put away each morning. This can be very helpful if more than one person in your family has long hair and each has their own hair dryer, flat iron, curler, etc. Check DealDash to see their Fashion, Health, and Beauty products.

Use Your Pantry

Are you in the habit of stocking up on products you seem to go through quickly such as toilet paper, lotion, or toothpaste? If yes, then consider storing those in a pantry or linen closet instead of in the bathroom itself.

Make sure all family members know where to look for a replacement or refill should they run out. This is especially important when it comes to toilet paper! In my family, we store all of the paper products in one bathroom closet and all of the other replacement items such as shampoo and toothpaste in our second bathroom’s closet. This makes taking stock of our items before we go shopping much easier.

Get Everyone on Board

Finally, and most importantly, get your family to agree on using and maintaining the organization system that you have created. It’ll do no good to organize only to find things disheveled and unorganized the following week. You should also ask for input when devising a system. You will all want to be on the same page and make sure it’s one that everyone involved can live with. Don’t forget to ask your kids as well. When kids are allowed to give their ideas and input they are much more likely to take part in the organization process.

Thanks for Reading

Organizing your small bathroom can seem like a lot of work. However, if you do some planning you’ll see that it won’t be very difficult or take a lot of time. Be sure to get your family involved as it will be a lot less work for yourself if everyone pitches in.

Cleaning your bathroom can be a daunting task. It is one of the most germ-infested rooms in your house. That is why it is important to keep your bathroom clean and germ-free. There are many different ways to clean certain parts of your bathroom. Here are some tips to clean your bathroom effectively, from DealDash.

Keep Your Shower Clean

One of the best ways to clean a shower is to use white vinegar. Simply put the white vinegar into a plastic grocery bag and place it over the nozzle, tie it, and leave it overnight. You might want to use a double-bag so it doesn’t leak and soaks as much as possible. Then, the next day, you should remove the plastic grocery bag with the white vinegar in the morning and run some water to rinse.

Next up, shower curtains. Wash your shower curtains with your normal detergent along with some old towels. You should replace your shower curtain liner every 6 months so it doesn’t grow any mildew.

Cleaning the Walls, Tiles, and Ceiling

Cleaning your walls, tiles, and ceiling is very important because that is where a lot of germs live in your bathroom. Simply spray your walls tiles, ceilings, and counters with an all-purpose cleaner. Next, you should turn on the shower. Using hot water is the best method to rinse, and you should run the hot water until you see steam. Let the steam and the all-purpose cleaner mix for about 20 minutes then wipe down the surface with a clean rag or cloth.

Cleaning Your Toilet

Your toilet contains a lot of germs because of how many people use it during the day. Keeping your toilet clean is very easy to do. Start by pouring baking soda into a cup and pour it into the bowl. Let the baking soda sit for a few minutes then flush your toilet. Make sure to clean the toilet seat with an all-purpose cleaner. This will help remove germs and will keep the toilet seat clean.

Cleaning your toilet is not exciting, but with these tips, you can get the chore done quickly. It is important to keep your toilet clean to avoid any germs or buildup of grout. Using these tips will help keep your bathroom clean and germ-free. You can do it!

Quick Cleaning Ideas from DealDash

dealdash quick cleaning ideas

Cleaning doesn’t have to be a long drawn-out whole day extravaganza. Let DealDash show you some quick cleaning tips.

Many people leave cleaning just for the weekend, or in some people’s cases less often than that. DealDash is here to tell you that if you use some of these quick cleaning tips every day then you won’t ever have to do a huge clean-up. Your house will be mostly clean at all times. Use these ideas and your house will be company-ready at a moment’s notice.

Just 5 Minutes

Your house probably has some “hotspots” of clutter. Mine are the kitchen island where all of the mail gets tossed, near the front door where the kids take off their cold-weather gear, and a few other places. I like to set the timer on my phone for 5 minutes every day and clean one of these clutter hotspots. You’d really be surprised at how much you can really get done in 5 minutes of time per day.

Wipe That Counter

I like to keep a sponge next to all of the sinks in the house. Every time I use the sink I give the counter around it a quick wipe. This way your counter is cleaned every day, multiple times per day. We have 6 sinks in our house, so I try to use each of the sinks every day, or at least every other day so all of the counters stay sparkling clean.

Lightweight Mini Vacuums Rock!

I absolutely adore the lightweight mini vacuum that I got about 6 months ago. It has a rechargeable lithium battery, so I am cord-free. It also has a detachable dustbuster, which is very convenient. I do a quick vacuum around my entire first floor every day, and it’s completely effortless with this mini vacuum.

For some reason the simple fact that it doesn’t have a cord that I need to plug in and unplug multiple times to get the job done just makes it so much faster and I have zero dread when it comes to doing my daily vacuum. I keep a heavier Dyson upstairs where we have carpet. The house is so much easier to clean when you have the right tools to do the job!

DealDash Saves Your Sweaters

DealDash Saves Sweaters Everyone who has accidentally ruined a sweater, raise your hand…I admit it, I have ruined quite a few sweaters before I learned how to care for them properly. Let DealDash help you save your sweaters.

If you’re wondering how to properly care for your sweaters, you’re in the right place. Now that we are in the cold wintry January weather I bet most of you have brought out your sweaters and are wearing them frequently. Sweaters are great! They are warm, cozy, comfortable, stylish, but also difficult to clean without ruining them. Here is a quick primer from DealDash on how to keep your sweaters in tip-top shape this winter so you can enjoy them again next winter.

Ditch the Pills

If you were to walk down the sweater aisle of your local thrift shop, you will see dozens upon dozens of perfectly good sweaters with a minor problem – pills! You can get rid of those pesky pills with either a battery operated fabric shaver, a  de- fuzzing comb, or even a razor! These little sweater-savers will eliminate your pills when they appear.

Don’t be alarmed at the pills – both high-quality and low-quality knits will almost always pill at some point. If you can get into a habit of de-fuzzing your sweaters as soon as they come out of storage for the season it will make your life go more smoothly. Once you’re done with the sweaters for the season give them a quick once-over with the de-fuzzer of your choice and pack them away. Easy!

Wash Them Carefully!

I never dry clean anything, and most sweaters say dry clean only. I purchased the Dryell at-home wash, but it’s really just easier to hand wash. The directions are simple, but make sure you do a little of research on the fabric content of your sweater before you do anything. Here are the easy directions for hand-washing your sweater:

  1. Starting with a clean sink, fill your sink up with water and add a mild detergent. They make special “sweater detergents,” but I personally just use a bit of Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo to wash mine.
  2. Being gentle, agitate any stains as well as the underarms with your hands, then let it soak for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with cool water, then roll the sweater up in a bath towel to get most of the water out, but be sure not to wring it out.
  4. Lay the sweater flat to dry. Do not hang on a hanger to dry, this will distort the shoulders. Personal experience speaking here!

DealDash Masters Cleaning Up

DealDash has some awesome cleaning ideas. Read on to learn some fun cleaning hacks.

Cleaning is boring and no fun, right? Wrong! When you read about new cleaning hacks online or in magazines, aren’t you excited to try them out? I know I am! Here are some cleaning hacks from DealDash that I have personally tried for myself and have had success.

Garbage disposal – Is your garbage disposal a little stinky? Or do you keep your garbage disposal sparkling clean with those expensive packs of round mystery chemicals from the store? Well, you don’t have to use expensive chemicals or have a stinky garbage disposal! Just take a lemon, cut it into quarters, and toss half into the disposal with some ice. Grind it up, and repeat with the other lemon half and more ice. Smell that lemony freshness?

Crusty pans – After cooking a delicious steak in the pan do you immediately scrub it? Probably not. By the time that you have eaten your delicious steak and come back to your pan, it’s a crusty mess. You can help prevent that crusty mess by putting hot water and a dryer sheet (yes, really!) into the pan and leaving it on the warm burner. When you come back to wash out the pan later on the crust will slide right off. Make sure that you wash it really well wish dish soap after, though, of course.

Speaking of dryer sheets, don’t throw away the ones that you have used in your dryer quite yet. They can still be useful in these ways:

  • Buff water spots from mirrors, bathroom/kitchen fixtures and shower doors
  • Remove the ring inside the toilet (don’t flush the dryer sheet, though)
  • Wipe baseboards clean

Dirty blender – The blender is easy to clean with this easy trick. Fill the blender 3/4 of the way full with warm water and a 1 small drop of dish soap. Turn it on and let it go for a for a few seconds. After, rinse it out with warm water, and voila, it’s clean!

Stinky couch – The couch is a little tricky to clean if you don’t have cushions with removable covers. To get the stink out, sprinkle baking soda on the cloth surfaces. If you have an old soft hairbrush, you can brush it in, and then let it sit for half an hour. After that, you can vacuum up the baking soda. It will eliminate most of the odors. If there are any lingering odors, lightly spray it with a solution of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water solution and let it dry.
