DealDash Beats Loneliness for At-Home Parents

DealDash

Are you a stay-at-home mom or dad? Here are some tips to beat the loneliness, from DealDash.

When you are a stay at home parent it can get a little lonely. Typically, this is because you are missing out on a lot of adult interaction. The great news is that there are several things that you can do in order to be a little less lonely as a stay-at-home parent.

Limit Your Screen Time

One thing that you can do in order to not feel as lonely is to put your cell phone away. You may be tempted to go on social media to see what your friends are up to but this doesn’t replace actual human interaction. You want to actually pick up the phone and call one of your friends to see what they are up to as it can really help you feel a little less lonely. Not only that, it’s so easy to waste the entire day “Just checking FaceBook for a minute”. This isn’t fair to your kids or to yourself. Call up a friend who has a child and have a playdate!

Keep Up on Your Reading

If you have the opportunity you should read a book. While this may be somewhat difficult with more than one child if you are able to read even for a little bit it is a great way to pass the time. Losing yourself for a while in a good book is a wonderful way to get rid of some of the stress of being on your own while your spouse is at work. If your kids are young enough to still take a nap, use that time to catch up on a good book. If your kids are too old for naps, great! That means that they should be able to play on their own for 30 minutes so you can read for just a little while.

Keep In Touch

You can also choose to keep in touch with your partner during the day. Even if it is just a few short texts you will feel a lot better having that needed contact with your partner. Talk with your partner to see what kind of contact you could have during the time that they are gone so you know that it will work for both of you. Don’t despair if they don’t have time during the workday to talk or text with you, though. Try texting your siblings or a friend instead.

DealDash Helps Baby Sleep at Night

DealDash

If you have a baby, you know how tough it is to get them to sleep. Here are some tips and tricks, from DealDash.

Getting your baby to sleep through the night can seem like a never ending struggle. Try as you might it often seems like there is just no way that the newest addition to your family is going to sleep all the way through until morning. It doesn’t have to be that way though, here are some tips for getting your baby to sleep through the night, from DealDash.

Don’t Rush Things

You should never rush your baby to sleep through the night. You will save yourself a lot of stress if you remember this. It can take a little time for your newborn to get their days and nights straight. This is called circadian rhythm, the body’s cellular time clock. Babies typically start out with their days and nights reversed but develop a natural sleep-wake cycle that is more in line with night and day. You need to take your time and ease your baby into sleeping until morning.

Daytime is For Eating

Making sure that your baby starts to know that day time is when they eat and night time is when they sleep will also be helpful in making sure that they sleep through the night. Definitely do not overfeed them during the day in an effort to make them sleep longer as that will just end up upsetting your baby’s stomach. Just make sure that you send them to bed with a full tummy. During the first few months of your baby’s life, they will most likely wake up to eat a few times during the night. This is normal, don’t be alarmed. If you have any concerns, please talk to your pediatrician.

Shhhhh! The Baby is Sleeping!

Creating the right environment for your baby to go to sleep is another thing that you can do to get them to sleep through the night. When it is time to go to bed make sure that you do things like turn the lights down as well as the television. You can choose to rock your baby to sleep or even play some soft and soothing music. There are mobiles that you can attach to the crib that spin and play music, or you can get a sound machine that plays projections on the ceiling. I love my noise machine projector, it has a timer on it that I can set for 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

Thanks for Reading

Finally, getting into a routine is one of the best things that you can do to promote a great environment for your baby to go to sleep and stay asleep all throughout the night. Before long both you and your child will be getting the rest that you need and deserve.

DealDash Makes Homemade Baby Food

DealDash

Making your own baby food sounds complicated. Let DealDash give you some more information.

Do you have a newborn or young baby? As you probably know, as your baby gets older they will start to additional nutrition aside from what breast milk or formula provides for them. This might lead you to wonder if homemade baby food is right for your baby. You might find that it takes a little more work to give your baby homemade baby food but this choice is not without its benefits. Here are some things that you’ll want to think about if you’re trying to decide is making homemade baby food is right for you, from DealDash.

Much More Affordable

Homemade baby food is very affordable and will save you a trip to the grocery store if you buy your materials in bulk. You just need to select foods that are right for your baby’s age and you can often prepare meals ahead of time. If you prefer to cook in large batches, then try freezing your homemade baby food in ice cube trays! You will quickly see that there is quite the difference between homemade baby food and it’s store bought counterpart. By saving money here you will be able to spend more money on things like diapers and clothes for your baby, or use that extra money and bid on some toys for your baby on DealDash.

Extremely Nutritious, No Fillers

Homemade baby food is very nutritious. You will get the opportunity to decide everything that goes into your baby’s food. This will give you control over what your baby consumes so you know that they will be eating healthy foods. This is a wonderful option for many parents, especially those who have a baby with allergies. If you look on the label of a pre-jarred baby food from the store you might see fillers inside such as corn. When you make your own homemade baby food there are no fillers, just good, wholesome food.

So Much Variety

There are countless options available for those that make their own baby food. You will not have to settle for the limited options presented by the supermarket. As your baby gets older you will be able to mix several ingredients together to make a tasty and nutritious meal for your child. This is a great option as you can experiment to find out what your baby really enjoys eating.

As an example, most babies do not like sour things. However, my daughter absolutely loved sour and vinegar flavors when she was a baby (and still does!), so when I made her baby food I would add a squeeze of lemon or lime in her baby food. You won’t find that in pre-jarred baby food!

Think About It

So is homemade baby food the right choice for you and your child? If you find that you have the time to prepare it, if you are concerned about what your baby consumes, and finally if you wouldn’t mind being able to save a little money then yes homemade baby food would be an excellent choice.

DealDash Packs a Diaper Bag

Image result for diaper bags list

If you’re a new parent, you probably have no idea what you will truly need when you’re out with baby. Take it from a seasoned mom what you need, and what you should leave at home.

As the mom of three kids (8, 4, and 7 months), I am well versed in baby products of all types. When you see a mom or dad on TV with a diaper bag they have just about everything except the kitchen sink – this makes the bag not only extremely heavy, but also difficult to find the item that you are looking for in a hurry. Here is a list and a quick explanation of what you should be packing in a diaper bag for a local outing. If you are wondering what you should pack for baby for a longer outing, such as a long weekend, just multiply my list by the number of days that you will be away!

  • The Bag – You need a bag that is large, sturdy, has a shoulder strap, and has multiple zippered pockets. There are so many different types and styles of diaper bag that I couldn’t even begin to list them all. I personally carry a bag that was specifically meant to be a diaper bag, but you could easily use something more stylish such as a bag that was meant for laptops as long as it is roomy enough to meet your needs.
  • Diapers – I like to pack enough diapers to be able to change the baby every 2 hours, plus 1 extra diaper for an emergency.
  • Wipes – 1 travel pack of wipes, or if you don’t have one of those, you can just pack single wipes in a ziplock bag. I like to pack 2 wipes per diaper, plus 2 extra wipes in case of an extra messy diaper.
  • Changing Pad – This can be an actual pad, or just a towel the size of a hand towel/kitchen towel.
  • Food – Depending on how old your baby is food might mean milk/formula and bottles, squeezy pouches of food, or food jars and spoons. I personally pack enough milk for my baby to eat 2 ounces per hour (but it’s more likely he will eat 6 ounces every 3 hours). I also like to pack a couple of emergency “nursette” bottles just in case.
  • 2 bibs
  • 2 pacifiers
  • 1 extra outfit
  • 1 soft stuffed toy
  • 1 chewy teething toy
  • Your personal items

That’s it! That’s exactly what I keep in my diaper bag, and it’s served me well. My baby never goes without anything he needs. DealDash has some great diaper bags up for bid, as well as various other bags that would be the perfect size to serve as a diaper bag. Just click this link here and you will be taken to DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding!
