Now is a great time to start planning your next vacation. According to the U.S. News, San Diego, California is number 9 on the list of the best places in the USA to visit.

There are a few things to do when deciding to plan your next vacation, and picking a destination is the first step! San Diego is a wonderful city that has a rich history as well as a current appeal. Let’s take a look at what makes San Diego such a great place to visit on your next vacation.

The first thing that people tend to mention when speaking on San Diego is the weather. Sunny and warm is par for the course in San Diego. As you can see in the chart above, San Diego temperatures rarely dip below 60 or rise above 75. In my mind, that is just about as perfect as you can get. I visited San Diego a few years ago in February, and the weather was sunny and in the mid-60s for the entire week. It was a little slice of perfection compared to the New England weather that I have become accustomed to.

Besides the weather, people love to vacation in San Diego for the cuisine. San Diego has everything, from food trucks to fine dining and everything in-between. Since San Diego is in such close proximity to Mexico there are countless amazing Mexican restaurants that you can try. If Mexican cuisine isn’t your thing, just look to the East – the Pacific Ocean is right there, with all of it’s fishy bounty. If you’re into beer, San Diego boasts over 70 breweries! You could fill your vacation with brewery tours, if you so chose.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention any fun kid’s activities! San Diego has two of my favorite attractions – Sea World and the San Diego Zoo! Those are two “must see” items on my list if you have kids, and on my “should see” list if you don’t have kids!

DealDash Gives Travel Tips

Most people enjoy travelling. Here are some handy tips for the next time you are able to get away for a long weekend or even a full vacation.

There are so many destinations out there that are just waiting to be explored. Travel is one hobby that is enjoyed by almost everyone – no matter what the age, from kid to grandparent and everyone in-between, most people love to get away for a holiday. I enjoy travel very much, and I have picked up quite a few handy tips over the years that might be able to help someone else. Here are some of my handy travel tips.

  • Be sure to pack all of your cords – phone cord, laptop cord, iPad cord, etc. If you are going somewhere overseas you might want to invest in a voltage converter.
  • Make as many sets of outfits as you are going to be at your destination, plus an extra one. Roll each outfit set with the undergarments and socks on the inside, and then stack your outfit tubes in your luggage. It saves space as well as time. And because they are rolled instead of folded they will have less wrinkles when you unpack them.
  • Always remember to bring your toothbrush & toothpaste, your prescription medications, your deodorant, and your PJs.If you are travelling in the USA or Canada it is very likely that you will be able to go to a store and buy anything that you might have forgotten, but don’t count on it. Double-check your packing before you close up your suitcase.
  • If you are travelling outside of the USA or Canada, be sure to pack some personal tissue packs and/or travel baby wipes. Many places outside of North America don’t offer free toilet paper in public restrooms. When I was travelling in Beijing there were often people selling small packs of toilet paper outside of public restrooms near tourist attractions.
  • Call your bank and credit card company before you leave and put a travel alert on your accounts. Also, be sure to jot down their international customer service number in case you run into trouble while you are away.
  • Pack a hat and sunblock, even if you aren’t going to the beach or somewhere traditionally “outdoorsy.” Chances are you will be doing a lot of walking if you are a tourist, and will get a lot more sun than you normally do – so wear your SPF and hat, please!

DealDash Helps: Budget Road Trip

Summer is a perfect time to go on vacation, but what if you don’t have the money? Budget road trips can be just as fun.

Normally my family goes on a vacation every year. We’ve been to Bermuda, San Diego, Tampa, and Montreal to name a few. However this year we have a new baby so we decided to stay a little closer to home. While planning our summer vacation this year I noticed how much money we were going to be saving by not going too far outside of New England. As a challenge to myself I decided to see exactly how frugal I could be in my vacation planning and still show the kids a great time. On to the savings!

First of all, forget flying. We were originally thinking about going to Salt Lake City, but plane tickets alone for my family of 5 was going to be in the range of $4,000 for the times we wanted to go, so we decided that this year was going to be a road trip only kind of trip. When you are thinking about road-tripping on a budget, the first thing that you want to think about is what is the maximum distance that you are willing to travel, or even more budget-friendly, what is the maximum distance that you can travel in one day so you can avoid staying in multiple different hotels.

The maximum distance that we decided on was 500 miles, which is a full 8-ish hours of travel. So then we looked to see where we could go in that mileage range and came up with New York, Washington DC, Maryland, Philadelphia, and Providence.  This is really easy to look up using Google Maps.

How will we get a discount on our gas? By using DealDash, of course! You can get a Shell gas card from DealDash by bidding, and if you don’t win you can always BIN (But It Now), get all of your bids back, keep the clock time that you earned by being the highest bidder, AND get free shipping on your gift card. Shell also has a loyalty card that you can get for free, and it will give you .03 off per gallon every time that you use it. It’s not much, but it adds up! If you would like to bid on a Shell gift card you can click this link right here and it will take you to the Shell cards on DealDash.

Now that the gas is taken care of, how about hotels? DealDash offers a variety of hotel gift cards that you can bid on. The hotel gift cards are the same deal as the gas gift cards – if you don’t win you can always BIN (But It Now), get all of your bids back, keep the clock time that you earned by being the highest bidder, AND get free shipping on your gift card. You can check out all of the hotel gift cards that DealDash has at this link right here.

I hope that this article has inspired you to think about going on a budget road trip this year with the help of DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash “Drones” On and On…

Drones are super hot right now. If you’ve never seen or used a drone, you’re in for a treat.

I can pretty much guarantee the hottest toys for Christmas of 2016 are going to be toy drones, and there are many new models and types of drones to buy already. Drones for the average individual are relatively new in the marketplace, and it seems like it’s hard not to get bombarded with too much information when you are trying to do a little bit of simple research to figure out if getting a drone is a good move for you and your family. Here is a little information that might come in handy when you are thinking about jumping on the drone bandwagon.
One of the first things that you are going to want to figure out before you go drone shopping is how long you would like your drone to be able to fly. Some drones can only fly for 10 minutes or so, whereas the higher end ones can fly for half an hour or so.
You should also think about how long it will take to charge your drone. If the drone that you are considering buying takes hours to charge and can only fly for a few minutes is it really worth it? You might want to consider a slightly higher end drone if flight and charge times are important to you.
The last thing that I would like you to consider is if the quality of the drone’s camera. Some people are satisfied with a lower quality of video while others want the sharpest images possible.
If you’re on a budget when you’re shopping for your drone you might have to sacrifice in one of these areas to get better quality in another area. It’s completely up to you.
A great way to get a high quality drone at a discount would be to bid on a drone auction on DealDash. DealDash has different styles of high quality drones to choose from. If you click on this link here it will take you to the drones that are available to either bid on now or set an alert for later. To set an alert simply click on the “Alert Me” button on the drone’s auction page and DealDash will send you an email when the auction is about to begin.
I hope that this information about drones was helpful to you. Good luck and happy bidding everyone.
