DealDash Thanksgiving Ideas for Hosts

Hosting your family’s Thanksgiving celebration is a big responsibility. Here are some ideas from DealDash to make it a success.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but the responsibility of being the host can be a little daunting. We have come up with a few ways to make the most out of being the Thanksgiving host this year. Read on for more information.

Have Your Menu Planned in Advance

You don’t want to wait until the last minute to have your menu planned and your groceries taken care of. Now that we are getting closer to the big day you will want to be sure that you have your menu all planned out. Now would be the time to get all of your groceries that you will need for the big day. You can often find great deals on frozen turkeys this time of year. You will also want to be sure that you are stocked up on all of the spices and condiments that you will be using on Thanksgiving.

Ask for Help

Just because you are doing the hosting doesn’t mean that your friends and relatives that are coming can’t help out! Figure out what would help you the most, and ask people that are coming to your Thanksgiving celebration to help. For example, maybe you need someone to bring a card table and chairs for extra seating. Or maybe you need someone to bring a dessert or a side dish. Don’t be shy. These are the people that are coming into your home for the holiday, they will be happy to help you.

Get Kitchen items from DealDash

Another way that you can be prepared to host Thanksgiving is to get new kitchen items from DealDash. Kitchen items don’t last forever, and if you need to replace or upgrade your kitchen items then be sure to check the auctions. You will find everything you need in the Kitchen and Dining category on DealDash. Just click here and you will find cutlery, small appliances, and kitchen gadgets.

DealDash Fosters Good Eating Habits

Being a parent means that you sometimes have to make difficult choices for your kids, even if they don’t agree with you.

If you’re a busy parent like myself, sometimes it’s easy to let healthy eating habits fall by the wayside when things get busy at home. Grabbing pizza or a burger on the way home is quicker and easier than making a home-cooked meal after a long day of school, work, sports, and other after-school activities – not to mention homework! While grabbing a quick meal out occasionally won’t hurt anyone, it’s a good idea not to get in the habit.

If your kids are old enough to have homework, sports, and after-school activities they are old enough to help you prep and cook simple (and even complex!) meals at home. As the old idiom says, “many hands make light work”. As long as you have adequate counter space there’s not a reason in the world why your kids ages 5+ can’t help you prepare dinner.

The way to lead kids down a road of healthy eating habits is modelling – by you and the other trusted adults that they know. The more adults that they love and trust that they see eating healthy fruits and veggies, lean meats, and whole grains eating, the more they will want to emulate them. In turn, emulation will become habit, and you will have given your kids the gift of healthy eating habits. That’s a gift that can last a lifetime.

In addition to your kids helping prepare dinner, they can also help you make the week’s meal plan. For younger kids, give a few healthy choices and let them pick. For older kids you can see what they come up with on their own, and be there to guide them if they go astray into the land of junk food.

If you’re going to be doing all of this extra cooking with your children, you’re going to need more kitchen supplies. DealDash has any kitchen supplies that you might need including pots & pans, fun plates, trivets, and more. Check out DealDash for all of your kitchen needs.
