DealDash Secret Santa Instructions

DEALDASH

Now that we’re heading into the holiday season many places hold a “Secret Santa” exchange. Here are some simple instructions from DealDash.

A secret Santa activity is very common. It is a good way to save money on Christmas presents and make shopping easier. A secret Santa is when a group of people exchanges gifts. Some people may give gifts to family and friends that you usually don’t give gifts to.  How do you start a secret Santa? Here are some tips for starting a secret Santa, from DealDash.

Write Down Names and Put Them Into a Hat

The first step is to write down the names of participants on a piece of paper. If you are in a group of people that do not know each other that well, it is best to write some interests of that person such as someone that likes to knit or have other hobbies. Then you should cut out the names and put them into a hat. Make sure you fold the names and mix them up.

Set a Price Limit and Draw Names from a Hat

It is important to set a price limit so no one will overspend or underspend. You can discuss the price limit with your group, or the organizers can come up with the limit. Try to choose a price limit that people can afford. It is best to choose an affordable price range than higher or cheaper. Many people choose to make the limit around $20. After you set a price limit, you draw names from the hat.

Set a Deadline to Purchase the Gift

The next step is to choose the date for buying the gifts. It is important to check with the group to see when they will have time to buy their friend and or family members gifts. After you set the time, you choose a gift. You can get something useful and practical such as kitchen supplies, coffee mugs, or a good book. The last thing you do is meet with your group and exchange gifts.

DealDash Helps: Is Working at Home Right for You?

DealDash

Have you ever wondered if working at home might be a good fit for you? Read on for information from DealDash.

No matter if you are a first-time parent or a parent of several children you might wonder if working at home might be the right solution for your family.  There are many things that you need to keep into consideration before making that choice. Here are some of the things you might want to consider, from DealDash.

Do You Have Support?

Do you have the support of your family? Working from home is more difficult than you think so you need to be sure that you have a solid support system put in place. If you do not you just may find that working from home just might not be the right option for you.

If you have a spouse, make sure that they are on board with your plan to work from home. Do you plan on being a freelancer? If so, you most likely won’t have access to a group health insurance plan. Make sure that your spouse is able to provide health insurance for the family.

Telecommuting Might Be an Option

Does your place of work offer telecommuting options? This should be one of the first few things that you consider when you want to work from home. If your place of work offers telecommuting options this would be your easiest transition into working from home. If they don’t you will need to consider a career change or becoming a freelancer.

Do You Have Space?

Do you have room in your house to work from home? You will need to make sure that you have an area set aside for you to work from home in. Having a dedicated area to work from home will allow you to focus on the work that you need to get done. It would be extremely helpful if this area has a door, but it isn’t a must.

Will You Still Need Daycare?

Will you still need childcare when you work from home? Now, this seems to negate the purpose of working from home, however, there are many people that work from home that have childcare for their kids. Typically this is for a small portion of the day so they can get their work done instead of full-time daycare. Some people can do without daycare, but this but it is definitely something to consider.

Thanks for Reading the Blog

Taking all of these things into consideration will help you to make the best choices as to whether or not working at home is the right choice for your family.

DealDash Helps Create a Calm Office Space

DealDash

Do you want to feel happier at more calm at work? If so, then read this article from DealDash.

Going to work can sometimes be stressful. However, if you can manage to turn your personal office space or cubicle into a place that you feel relaxed then your happiness and your productivity will increase. A stark environment with bare white walls does nothing to calm you or make you feel at ease. Try some of these tips from DealDash to improve your office life by creating a calming office space.

Plants, Plants Everywhere

There is nothing more calming or stress-reducing than some beautiful green plants in your work space. Plants can de-stress you, make you feel more relaxed, and look nice as well. I prefer real plants, but the artificial kind will work as well. If you aren’t a big fan of leafy green plants, then just try a small succulent on your desk or a small bouquet of flowers to cheer up your space.

Clean Up

If you have 22 different post-its stuck around your cubicle, along with various papers, pens, and half-eaten food (ew!) then it’s time to clean up your office space. Clean up is simple, just start with the things that can definitely be thrown away or recycled such as that half-eaten bagel and those lunch take-out menus that you can easily look up online if you need them. Once you have thrown away the trash, then tidy up the rest by organizing them nicely. You will feel much better about your space when it’s clean.

Adding a Touch of Home

Now that you have gotten some nice plants and cleared away your trash and recyclables, it’s time to decorate. Bring in a few framed photos of your family, friends, or pet. They will make you feel more calm and happy through the stress of the day. You can also bring in your favorite coffee mug, and even a foot massager for under your desk (Shhhh! I won’t tell!). If you are a fan of the new flameless LED candles you could bring in one of those as well. They typically have remotes so you can change their color throughout the day to suit your mood.

Music to My Ears

If you aren’t required to be on the phone most of the day, then bring in your favorite music. You can load up your iPod with different playlists to complement your mood. Make a “busy day” playlist with background music, and a “slow day” playlist with lots of upbeat songs to get you through a slow day. If you have your own office then a Bluetooth speaker might be the thing for you, however, if you are out in the “cubicle farm”, then you’ll need to get headphones or ear buds. If your job requires you to answer the phone then try just sticking in 1 ear bud so you can hear when the phone rings.

DealDash Helps: Boost Productivity

DealDash

Boosting productivity can take some effort but is worth it in the end. Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash to get started.

You may or may not be thinking of your productivity during your day, but believe me, it will help. Boosting your productivity can not only make your work, chores, and other tasks go more smoothly, but it can also make your day go more smoothly and take a little bit of stress away. When you first strive to boost your productivity you might run into a few roadblocks. Don’t worry, DealDash is here to help guide you. Read on for more information.

Prepare for the Week Ahead

Most people take it easy on the weekends and do as little as possible unless it’s fun. This makes for a great weekend but a harder work week. If you just take a few hours out of your weekend to prepare for the week ahead then you will enjoy the work week a little more than before.

For example, many people like to do meal prep in advance. This can take a few hours, depending on what you are preparing. However, if you can prepare food for your weekdays so you don’t have to do it after work you will have such a better week. I recommend that you make a few pans of lasagna on the weekend. You can cut them into single serve portions and freeze them. Whenever you want some delicious homemade lasagna all you have to do is reheat it in the microwave or toaster oven. There are many other meals that you can prepare on the weekend that will make your dinners during the week a lot easier.

Lists, Lists, and More Lists

I will admit, I am a HUGE fan of lists. I love to make all types of lists: to-do, grocery,  ideas, anything! Making lists can help you learn how to prioritize things. If you make a list of all of the things that you should get done today, then put them in order of importance. Once you get the important things done then you can work on the less-important things. Lists are important because they can help you plan things out to be more productive than you would be by just thinking of what you need to do.

Put Down the Phone

One of the biggest offenders in stealing your productivity is your phone. All of the text alerts, notifications from apps, FaceBook alerts, and everything else makes you pick up your phone far too often when you are trying to get things done. If you have made a list like I suggested previously, and are checking things off as you go, then you can reward yourself with phone time after you have completed the most important items. Until you have your items completed, then your phone needs to stay out of sight. Trust me, it’s hard at first, but you’ll get used to it, and complete your tasks even faster.

Office Cleaning the DealDash Way

DealDash

Want to have an office as clean as the one above? Clean your office the DealDash way.

What is cleaning the office the DealDash way? Quite simply, it’s cleaning the office as you would any room in the home – quickly, thoroughly, and with more brain power than brawn. Read on for more details.

Clean as You Go

Don’t wait until your office (or home office) is a gigantic mess before you decide to clean it. Clean it a bit each day, empty the trash, clear off the desk clutter, and wipe down the surfaces daily. Do you have an office cleaner that comes in to do these things already? Use your time for other cleaning tasks, then, ones that aren’t done as often. Do a different task each day and see your office sparkle.

Enlist Others to Help You Clean

Perhaps you work in a small office that only has a cleaner come in once per week. Don’t do all of the daily cleaning yourself, enlist other people to help share the burden of the work. If you can get each person in your office (even if there are only a few) commit to doing certain cleaning tasks, then that will make your life so much easier. If you just have a home office that needs cleaning, then I guess you’re on your own! Unless you can convince your family members to help you, that is.

Keep It Simple

You don’t need all kinds of fancy cleaning products to keep your home office or small business office clean! You just need one all-purpose cleaner and either paper towels or some cleaning rags. If you’re wondering which all-purpose cleaner to use, I suggest the cheapest and easiest of them all – white vinegar! You can use white vinegar and water in a 50/50 solution that will clean, disinfect, de-stink, and even clean glass to a nice, bright shine with little effort on your part! Just get an empty spray bottle (they have them in the travel section in the big box stores), and fill it with a 50/50 vinegar and water solution. Simple, easy, cheap, and completely kid and pet safe!

Be Gentle With Yourself

If you’re a perfectionist, try to be gentle with yourself. If you have a small office or home office and no professional cleaners, then it isn’t going to be perfect. Just do the best you can, follow these tips, and stick with it. The longer you keep up the cleaning plan, the cleaner it will become over time. You can do it!
