DealDash Tips for a Spring Garage Sale

DealDash

After all of that spring cleaning you probably have some things to get rid of. Here are some great tips from DealDash on having a yard sale at your home.

The weather is getting warmer, and you probably have many things that you would like to get rid of. There are plenty of ways to sell your unwanted items online, but sometimes a good old-fashioned yard or garage sale is the best avenue. Preparing for a garage sale can take a lot of work. Here are 3 tips to prepare for a garage sale, from DealDash. Please do note, however, that re-selling of items that you got on DealDash isn’t allowed.

Pick a Day

It is important to pick a day when you are going to sell your items. The best days are on the weekends either Saturday or Sunday. Everyone is home at that time, and many people go to garage sales on the weekend. You should have your garage sale when the weather is not too hot or cold. This will make the conditions comfortable for your customers.

Make Advertisements

Once you have the day picked out and your unwanted items are ready for your garage sale it is time to advertise. You can advertise in the newspaper, Facebook, or make signs for your garage sale. You can post the signs around your neighborhood to let everyone know. Don’t forget to make some signs with arrows on them to point the way to your house from the main street. Also, don’t forget to take the signs down when your sale is over!

Interact with Your Customers

People see garage sales as a fun shopping experience. You should never let your customers just go in and pick up some stuff. Interacting with them and answering their questions will give them a more pleasant shopping experience. Remember to not act pushy, and just let them come to you if they have questions about the unwanted products. Make sure you have your chair positioned towards the front so you can greet the people as they walk towards your garage sale.

Use Your Profits to Buy Yourself Something on DealDash

After your sale is over and you have your money counted up, why not get yourself something nice on DealDash? Now that it’s getting warmer out you could get some gardening equipment or a yard decoration like a firepit or some solar lights? DealDash has so many nice things for your home to choose from. DealDash Helps Eliminate Mosquitos

DealDash

Summer is fun, but the mosquitos that come with it are quite annoying. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to eliminate them.

Mosquitos are harmless insects, but they can be annoying. They are constantly flying around, and they can bite you. Although a mosquito bite is harmless, it is still necessary to get rid of mosquitos.  There are some different ways to get rid of mosquitos so you won’t have to worry about them stinging you or flying around.  Here are some ways to get rid of mosquitos outdoors, from DealDash.

Get Rid of Trash

It is important to get rid of trash and things lying around your yard. Keeping a well-kept yard will help eliminate mosquitos.  Mosquitos feed off of water, so if you have items that are holding water, it is best to get rid of them. Water allows mosquitos to breed and when you take the water away, you will no longer have to worry about mosquitos. This even applies to small volumes of water such as in soda cans.

Tip the Water in the Containers

When you have more water, you will have more mosquitos. 1 to 2 inches of water in a bucket can easily help a mosquito breed, and you don’t want that to happen. You should tip the water in any bird baths or dog bowls on a regular basis.

Tie Down Tarps

Tarps can be another attraction for mosquitos. If you use a tarp to cover your grill or any other item outdoors, it should be tied down tightly. When a tarp is not tied down tightly, then pools of rainwater can come in which will attract mosquitos. If a tarp cannot be pulled down tightly, then you should remove the tarp to drain the water.

Mosquitos can be hard to deal with. Luckily these tips will help you keep the mosquitos out of your yard.   If you follow these tips your yard will be free of mosquitos and you will be able to enjoy the outdoors again. Don’t be a prisoner in your home due to the mosquitos in your yard.

DealDash: Get Your Kids Involved with Yard Work

DealDash

Everyone needs to help around the house, including kids. Here are some tips and tricks to get your kids involved with the yard work.

With summertime in full swing, you’re likely looking for ways to get your children active with yard work.  There are many different ways you can get kids of all ages active in helping you get the yard work including some of the following, from DealDash.

Gardens are Fun

You can decide to plant a small garden.  Kids love the opportunity to get involved with a garden. You can decide either plant flowers and vegetables are maybe some of both. Your children will have a fun time helping to the yard to help keep your garden in great shape. You could even help them do something fun like plant a fairy garden.

Are They Old Enough to Mow?

If they’re a certain age where they’re responsible enough to handle the lawnmower you should teach them how to mow the lawn.  You will be able to have them take care of this job so you can focus on other aspects of yard work. Personally, I started mowing my parent’s lawn when I was around 11 years old. However, I was a very serious and cautious child, so if your child is more on the silly side, then wait until they are older.

Raking Can Be Fun

You could also consider bringing out rakes so that you can take care of getting rid of lawn clippings. This will make your yard look as good as possible.  Your kids will have fun doing work like this to make sure you make the job fun for them.

Make it Age-Appropriate and Fun

You can also have them do things like sweeping your deck and trimming branches. This, of course, is if they are old enough to take care of doing a job like that. You need to be sure that you are giving them age-appropriate jobs to do. And while the work won’t always be fun you should try and make it as fun as possible for your kids. This will encourage them to want to continue to do the yard work… Or at least not resist it too much!

Thanks for Reading

The yard work will not always be fun. However, it is something that kids should learn to do when they’re at an appropriate age. This way when they are adults they will know how to take care of their own home and lawn.

Think About Your Free Space

If you don’t take into account how much outdoor space that you have you could be in trouble. You need to do plenty of measurements to make sure that you have done everything correctly. This is so that you know that your outdoor play set will fit into your yard. You do not want to end up disappointing your kids by getting something that they cannot use.

Outdoor play sets come in a huge range of sizes. There are some that are just the classic that most parents and grandparents are familiar with that are typically just a slide and a couple of swings. There are also elaborate play sets with climbing walls, multiple slides, and more. Think carefully about how much room you have to spare for the new outdoor playset.

Be Strict on Safety

You also should definitely look into the safety features of the outdoor playset. Too many parents forget about this only to see their child get hurt while playing. You need to be sure that you have checked out all of the safety features of the playset so that you know exactly how they work. Don’t skip any steps when putting your set together. Be sure that you read the manual carefully even if the playset looks easy to put together.

Check the Warranty

You also should also look into warranties when it comes to getting an outdoor playset. You need to know that if something happens to the playset that you purchase you can get it repaired. It is simply a wise financial move that will help to keep your investment safe. Outdoor playsets are not cheap, and you’ll want it to last as long as your kids are interested in playing with it.

Who Will Assemble it?

Many parents also do not take into account the time and effort that it will take to assemble an outdoor playset for their kids. You need to know that it will take some time and skill in order to properly assemble and install an outdoor playset. You might want to consider getting a professional to come install your playset for you.

DealDash De-Skunks the Dog

DealDash

Has your dog Been sprayed by a skunk? DealDash is here to help. Read on for more information.

Now that summer is here you and your pets are probably spending more time outdoors. Unfortunately, when your dogs are exploring outside, especially at night, sometimes there are skunks. Skunks are generally afraid of dogs and will spray them as a warning to go elsewhere. Sadly, skunk spray not only smells terrible but it can also irritate your dog’s eyes, nose, and mouth. It’s very difficult to get the skunk spray smell off of dogs, but there are a few things that you can try. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash.

Keep Your Dog Outside

If your dog has been sprayed, be sure to keep him outside. You don’t want him to come inside and roll around on your carpet, sofa, blankets, or even his own bed because the skunk spray is actually an oil and will transfer to other surfaces. This oil is difficult to remove from the dog, but also from cloth surfaces as well.

Wear Old Clothing to Bathe the Dog

As I said, the skunk spray is an oil that will transfer from your dog to other surfaces, and this includes you and your clothing as well! When your dog has been sprayed and you need to give him a bath, you’ll want to put on some old clothing first.

Even though you are bathing the dog and he should be clean afterward, you should try to find an old towel that you don’t mind getting ruined. You might not be able to get out the skunk spray entirely, and you definitely don’t want to transfer that to any towel that you or your family might use for bathing later.

Make a Doggie De-Skunking Shampoo

Some people swear by using tomato juice to de-skunk a dog, however, I have used it and it just makes your dog smell like a tomato that for skunked. For a more effective de-skunking, use this recipe:

  • 1 Quart hydrogen peroxide
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of Dawn liquid dish soap

This recipe is good for a dog that is 25 pounds or less. Double the recipe for dogs 25-50 pounds, and triple it for dogs over 50 pounds. Be sure not to get this solution in his eyes. If you need to get the solution onto his face, then dip an old toothbrush into the mixture and apply it carefully.

Leave this mixture on for 10 minutes. The Dawn dish detergent will break up the oils in the skunk spray so that you can wash it away. After 10 minutes, rinse your dog with water. If there is still a strong skunk odor, then repeat the process.

After the smell has mostly been removed, then re-bathe your dog with regular dog shampoo. Be sure to use a different clean towel, you don’t want to re-apply any skunk spray back onto the dog!
